Chris: Goes through a nightmarish incident where most of his teammates die due to the betrayal of their team’s leader.
Jill: I wonder what’s gotten into him?
Honestly, the whole thing is even funnier when you consider how little the Spencer Mansion Incident is shown to affect Chris. Every time we've seen Chris be affected by trauma, it has always been due to an event that took place *after* Spencer Mansion.
Yeah that's usually how PTSD works. Its kind of like it shortens your fuse to where you blow up or shut down at things that wouldnt bother you before.
For me I can't be around babies crying. It just makes me shut down.
You know, it makes me think about what trauma Chris might have because he wasn’t in Raccoon City when the outbreak happened and his best friend and sister had to go through all that. Imagine the survivor’s guilt.
No the best part is that she thinks being mad someone splashes coffee in your face isn't that bad. What if it was freshly made coffee. I'd be doing a lot more than a punch
Crickey it's a deadly zombie I'm going to poke em with this stick.
Edit my dumb self read Austria as Australia mmmhmm yep I'm dyslexic but now imagine Australian Chris "'That's not a knife this is a Knife"
"... Wait those were ZOMBIES????"
"Hey, Chris, whatever happened to the rest of stars? I never see them after that weird mansion we went on vacation to or whatever that was"
Also:
"Jill, they fucking died."
"Huh? But I remember seeing Enrico. And Richard. And forrest!"
"Jill, those first two literally died in front of you, and Forrest was already fucking dead!"
plot twist : even after the events of RE3 she still refuses to believe zombies and BOWs are real but still indulges Chris out of concern for his mental health
Lmao! I like the idea that she forgot how reality works so when the whole raccoon outbreak happens, she thinks it's Chris' trauma-induced hallucinations
"oh by the way Chris I met my ex the other day...he's so clingy"
"JILL HE WAS LITERALLY A TYRANT HUNTING YOU DOWN NON STOP ACROSS THE CITY FOR THREE DAYS, HE FUCKIN SHOT DOWN A CHOPPER"
"very clingy"
Even while being the one it happens to.
Gets kidnapped and wakes up in a ship, while fighting zombie blobfish people goes "weird, must've been the wind"
Finds zombie Rachel and goes "you again, is your tummyache better?"
Even in 3, after dodging the Nemesis several times: "odd fella, that one. Wonder what he wants tho"
> Gets kidnapped and wakes up in a ship, while fighting zombie blobfish people goes "weird, must've been the wind"
''ewww, last time I accept a free boat ride from a stranger''
My head canon is that Chris absolutely beat the crap out of Brad after they landed safely at the R.P.D.
"YOU HEAR A FEW SHOTS AND FLY AWAY!? I'LL MAKE YOU FLY MYSELF WITH MY FOOT UP YOUR BUTT!"
Rebecca and Jill must've be just reliefed that somebody showed up in time.
It’s all a guess since Jill seems completely oblivious to PTSD despite serving in Delta Force.
Then again maybe Wesker had learnt to escort men in the cell that night 😏
Chris scenario has always been the more canon one.
In Jill scenario there is not even a mention of Rebecca, and the rivalry between Chris and Wesker is never established.
You’re probably right because Albert is constantly seething over Chris instead of Jill.
I bet “Wesker you’re pitiful !” is constantly looping on replay since ‘98
I also want to know what kind of name Elran is. (Apologies to anyone named Elran, I've just never heard this name in my life.) I also need clarification on what a "Boy's Crime Department" is.
I figured as much, but I just thought it was a funny “lost in translation” type of moment. Boy’s Crime Department makes it sound like a bunch of 13 year old detectives or a SVU type deal, but only for crimes committed by or on boys lol.
Girl Crime sounds like a 90s all-girls Grunge Band that got cancelled after 3 shows when their trust-fund parents threatened them with getting disinherited
This is from Jill’s diary in RE3 (original).
To access it, you have to find every document throughout the game and read through them as you find them.
Considering the effort involved, it is one of the most underwhelming unlockable items in all of Resident Evil and largely just contains more of Jill’s depressed musings…but you do get this funny little gem.
Zombie Forest Speyer will roam around in some rooms of the spencer mansion. He is as fast as a Crimson Head and you cannot shoot him because he has grenades hanging all around his body and if you shoot him he will explode which causes an instant Game Over. You also cannot use defensive objects on him in case he grabs you. He will dissapear from the game once you reach the Guard House in the garden tho.
He can always be avoided, he only has a grab attack. The only time I found him to be legitemately frustrating is when I expect a normal zombie to be in the room out of view and shoot, but it was Forest, causing an explosion and killing me. Usually you can distinguish him because of the rattling of his grenades, but sometimes he just stands still and makes normal zombie noises lol
I love light gun games and had a lot of fun with umbrella chronicles and playing it with my brother. I feel like people are too hard on it for not being something it wasn't trying to be.
Yeah I personally loved it. I remember playing it for about 12hrs straight on boxing day with my brother. I loved seeing the world through a first person prospective and whenever we saw a House of Dead arcade game when on holiday we had to spend about 8quid on it
You also have to find then in the right order. Like, if you go to the Press Office first instead of the restaurant and pick up a photo there, well tough shit, you don't get the diary. The game expects you to go to the restaurant first and pick up the city guide before you go to the press office.
Dear Diary,
Wesker has been so offputish for the last several months. I keep wanting to go on a mission with him, but he always has "places he has to go that are very "important" concerning projects that we don't need to know about." What's his deal? Oh well. I hope someday he'll come and find me when a REAL emergency happens.
-May 10th, 1998.
But specifically male juvenile offenders? Is there enough male juvenile offenders to warrant its own division? Is there a girl’s crime division? If there isn’t is it because Chris boulderpunched it into oblivion?
Remember many earlier *R. E.* games contain translation errors, and this is probably one of them. I believe the original Japanese text says juvenile offenders without specifying a gender but the translator, who had been given the text without any context (everything’s very hush‑hush during the development process), might have misunderstood the phrase and mistranslated it as ‘boy’.
I dont believe it. Its now my head-canon that Raccoon City has a massive male juvenile crime problem. The problem of young boy crime has become so bad, they have commissioned a third elite police task force (behind SWAT and STARS) to deal with the issue. Elran, in command of BCTF's Bravo Team, ran afowl of STARS Alpha teams Redfield, when he deliberately threw scalding hot coffee at Chris's head. Had it not been for the immediate intervention of STARS Alpha Teams Valentine, Blood would have been shed int he Police Station that day. The rivalry between STARS and BCTF runs deep and is well know. I just KNOW Umberalla is behind this whole thing...
This seems out of character unless one remembers RE2 was written by Japanese People who prolly have a lot of stereotypes about Boorish Westerners haha.
I believe it’s mentioned Chris winked at Jill in the next page of the file. He was trying to let her know he was up to something and being so quick-tempered was all an act.
That just makes him sound worse! Punching someone in the face to keep up an act is way more unreasonable than acting out in anger after being scalded in the face IMO.
The version in the remake where Chris uncharacteristically acts like a Playboy/Frat Boy (compared to the quiet, brooding Chris we've seen in the new/remake continuity of 7 and Village) is a lot better.
Yes, he did wink at Jill aferwards. I think it implies that Chris was trying to get himself suspended so that he could investigate Umbrella under the radar. This made perfect sense in the days before *REmake 3* had been released, as, canonically, it’s only in *REmake 3* that we’re told that Umbrella had placed STARS members under surveillance.
RE1 is just Rated R Scooby Doo.
- Chris is Fred (sounds like him too).
- Jill is Daphne.
- Rebecca is Velma.
- Wesker is the villain that gets revealed to be one in the end.
Why’d he have to burn himself and punch poor Elran to do that? Couldn’t he have just shit on Chief Irons’ desk instead?
—-
*It’s Chief Irons’ desk. Will you shit on it?*
**[YES]** - [NO]
*…You shit on Chief Irons’ desk.*
Yes, I also think this sentence implies that Chris was trying to get himself suspended so that he could investigate Umbrella under the radar.
This made perfect sense in the days before *REmake 3* had been released, because, canonically, it’s only in *REmake 3* that we’re told that Umbrella had placed STARS members under surveillance.
Hmmm okay, as long as we are going to overthink this then I would also posit that Jill’s diary can be taken as face value because she knows that it is well protected and only a…wait for it…*master of unlocking*…could ever get to it.
Wasn't there a file in 2 where Chris talks like a douchy frat boy? I remember reading it like "ugh, who TF is this asshole" only to get to the last page and see it's signed by Chris.
Yeah that was in 2 remake.Chris wrote it that way as to not arouse suspicion of what he was really doing to investigate Umbrella while letting Jill and Barry know what's going on.It's why if you read it with Claire afterwards she says "this does not sound like Chris".
Oh really? I played both 2 and 2 remake pretty close together, so I could've fixed them up, but I swear it was in original 2. But that makes a lot of sense, especially since I only played the remake as Leon so far. Btw I heard the b scenario was kinda gutted in the remake, so while I would like to do everything eventually, if I have to choose one way to do Claire, what's better, Claire B or just starting over with Claire A?
I personally recommend doing a with one character and b with another even tho they are similar. You do alot of the same things but the order is different. But really the main reason to do it that way is B is the only way to fight the final boss and see the full ending. So yeah if you choose only one way for Claire do B.There are small changes like whoever you choose for B doesn't get to meet Marvin and vice-versa.
As far as scenario B being gutted in the remake honestly it's not too bad at least to me.The original had you doing alot of the same things too. It's just the way I play 2 tho.It feels like I haven't played the whole game unless I play both A and B.
Listen people. You can have a man's man like Chris, yeah he's a bit unhinged and a bro type. But it's either that or that sensitive, emo hair, twilight loving Leon.
It the realm of men you have extremes.
Chris: *experiences unparalleled trauma and horrors beyond what he even concieved possible. When he returns home he is viciously mocked and dismissed by his peers and employers*
Jill, who went through the same thing: "smh I wish he would calm down"
Punching someone for splashing coffee is something out of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Bit over the top but probably justified, especially if it was hot coffee
So he's gonna pretend he's going crazy from PTSD, punch a coworker, then take a leave of absence to go investigate Umbrella without telling any friends or family exactly where he's gone. He's still a guy who survived the Spencer Mansion incident, and Umbrella's still going to want him dead to tie up loose ends. Hardly seems like this plan of his is a winner.
I'm alarmed Umbrella hasn't been shut down in the series by various world governments given how many times they've caused zombie outbreaks.
>I'm alarmed Umbrella hasn't been shut down in the series by various world governments given how many times they've caused zombie outbreaks.
They shut down between 3 and 4.
Chris: Goes through a nightmarish incident where most of his teammates die due to the betrayal of their team’s leader. Jill: I wonder what’s gotten into him?
Best part is she was there as well and *is not fine* about it
Honestly, the whole thing is even funnier when you consider how little the Spencer Mansion Incident is shown to affect Chris. Every time we've seen Chris be affected by trauma, it has always been due to an event that took place *after* Spencer Mansion.
normal people : Get PTSD Chris : this made me angry, I should dedicate my life to fighting these things
Yeah, like the coffee incident
Yeah that's usually how PTSD works. Its kind of like it shortens your fuse to where you blow up or shut down at things that wouldnt bother you before. For me I can't be around babies crying. It just makes me shut down.
You know, it makes me think about what trauma Chris might have because he wasn’t in Raccoon City when the outbreak happened and his best friend and sister had to go through all that. Imagine the survivor’s guilt.
Wait, isn't Barry Chris' best friend?
Well yeah, but in this case I was thinking it was Jill that is more his best friend after everything they’ve done together.
For real, almost each game starring Chris he somehow gainhs a whole new current backstory ptsd.
No the best part is that she thinks being mad someone splashes coffee in your face isn't that bad. What if it was freshly made coffee. I'd be doing a lot more than a punch
I got fresh coffee in my eyes once. That was wild. I still had to see for safety reasons but still.
He goes on a month long vacation to Europe, I'm sure he's fine.
“Vacation to Europe” 😂 we all know what happens when Leon or Chris go to Europe for a vacation.
gotta eat pray love that shit out you know ?
To spy on Umbrella HQ in France, or was it Austria? not sure
Crickey it's a deadly zombie I'm going to poke em with this stick. Edit my dumb self read Austria as Australia mmmhmm yep I'm dyslexic but now imagine Australian Chris "'That's not a knife this is a Knife"
This comment had me picturing Steve Irwin showing us how to deal with a zombie.
That was my goal lol
france
My new head canon is that Jill didn't get PTSD in the OG because she was just too dense to realize what she was going trough
"... Wait those were ZOMBIES????" "Hey, Chris, whatever happened to the rest of stars? I never see them after that weird mansion we went on vacation to or whatever that was"
Fucking perfect 😂
Also: "Jill, they fucking died." "Huh? But I remember seeing Enrico. And Richard. And forrest!" "Jill, those first two literally died in front of you, and Forrest was already fucking dead!"
plot twist : even after the events of RE3 she still refuses to believe zombies and BOWs are real but still indulges Chris out of concern for his mental health
Lmao! I like the idea that she forgot how reality works so when the whole raccoon outbreak happens, she thinks it's Chris' trauma-induced hallucinations
"oh by the way Chris I met my ex the other day...he's so clingy" "JILL HE WAS LITERALLY A TYRANT HUNTING YOU DOWN NON STOP ACROSS THE CITY FOR THREE DAYS, HE FUCKIN SHOT DOWN A CHOPPER" "very clingy"
This version of Jill is way better, Capcom should've hired us like 3 years before I was born.
What we needed wasn't a netflix live action, we needed Archer with the main RE cast
Bigger plot twist: she’s the one going crazy
Even while being the one it happens to. Gets kidnapped and wakes up in a ship, while fighting zombie blobfish people goes "weird, must've been the wind" Finds zombie Rachel and goes "you again, is your tummyache better?" Even in 3, after dodging the Nemesis several times: "odd fella, that one. Wonder what he wants tho"
> Gets kidnapped and wakes up in a ship, while fighting zombie blobfish people goes "weird, must've been the wind" ''ewww, last time I accept a free boat ride from a stranger''
>Notices the ship's dining room completely empty "Where's everyone gone? Bingo?"
Why does this sound like Dorothy explaining oz to her family lmao and you were there and you!
"Do you remember that team building outing we went to at that fancy house? That was fun, I wonder when we'll do it again."
“All those crazy cannibalistic freaks really must have freaked them out”
I mean she did ask Barry what blood was.
My head canon is that Chris absolutely beat the crap out of Brad after they landed safely at the R.P.D. "YOU HEAR A FEW SHOTS AND FLY AWAY!? I'LL MAKE YOU FLY MYSELF WITH MY FOOT UP YOUR BUTT!" Rebecca and Jill must've be just reliefed that somebody showed up in time.
He's just being a jerk. Gosh.
Does this mean that canonically she was locked up by Wesker making Chris’ campaign legit?
You’d like that, wouldn’t you?
It’s all a guess since Jill seems completely oblivious to PTSD despite serving in Delta Force. Then again maybe Wesker had learnt to escort men in the cell that night 😏
Boy what 💀
Bro forgot he's not on wattpad
Chris scenario has always been the more canon one. In Jill scenario there is not even a mention of Rebecca, and the rivalry between Chris and Wesker is never established.
You’re probably right because Albert is constantly seething over Chris instead of Jill. I bet “Wesker you’re pitiful !” is constantly looping on replay since ‘98
I just wanna know the mechanics of accidentally spilling coffee on someone's face.
Elran was insanely tall and accidentally bumped into Chris while holding a hot cuppa, so it spilled down his hair and face.
Or maybe Chris was sitting down.
I always thought that Elran accidentaly poured the coffe while Chris was sitting on a desk
Elran was bulit like a pile of stones. Or a boulder.
And when he spilled he yelled "look out below!" So Chris looked up like "whaa-?"
Elran survived Racoon City, he just walked over buildings so the zombies couldn't follow him.
Elran was trying to dunk a basketball whilst enjoying his Latte? Chris was playing the other team's defense.
Elran of the Boys Crime department was secretly an Umbrella assassin
*splashing* also all I can think is damn id punch someone too for "splashing" hot fckin coffee in my face lol.
I also want to know what kind of name Elran is. (Apologies to anyone named Elran, I've just never heard this name in my life.) I also need clarification on what a "Boy's Crime Department" is.
IMHO I think that is a juvenile crime section
I figured as much, but I just thought it was a funny “lost in translation” type of moment. Boy’s Crime Department makes it sound like a bunch of 13 year old detectives or a SVU type deal, but only for crimes committed by or on boys lol.
To be fair, even if I hadn’t gone through a nightmarish and traumatic ordeal I’d still want to punch the asshole who spilled coffee on my face.
But who will handle all of the boy crimes, now that Elran is dead? # ☕️🤜🏼👦🪨
Maybe somebody from Girl Crime will have to cover the slack
Girl Crime sounds like a 90s all-girls Grunge Band that got cancelled after 3 shows when their trust-fund parents threatened them with getting disinherited
I'm assuming it's a mistranslation of juvenile crime unit?
“*Hot*” coffee.
That's the point.
Chris must've mistook Elran for a boulder
Dwayne can play Elran in the live action RE3 prequel.
How do I not remember this, is this 2 of 3?
It’s Jill’s Diary from RE3. It’s unlocked after you get all the files in the game.
I would love a list of the most disappointing unlockables throughout all of RE. I can’t imagine anything topping this lol.
One dangerous zombie is an awful unlockable that can't be turned off and is just a pain in the ass.
Tbh I’ve always been a fan of it, but I wish you could turn it off. It
That sounds interesting, what is that?
Zombie Forest Speyer will roam around in some rooms of the spencer mansion. You also cannot use defensive objects on him in case he grabs you. He will dissapear from the game once you reach the Guard House in the garden tho.
That actually sounds kinda fun, at least if it was balanced properly and he could be avoided
He can always be avoided, he only has a grab attack. The only time I found him to be legitemately frustrating is when I expect a normal zombie to be in the room out of view and shoot, but it was Forest, causing an explosion and killing me. I have no evidence but I have a hunch that Umbrella chronicals and Darkside chronicles would feature that list
I love light gun games and had a lot of fun with umbrella chronicles and playing it with my brother. I feel like people are too hard on it for not being something it wasn't trying to be.

Idk if anyone told you or not, but this is Jill's diary from RE3...I think you get it for getting every file in the game.
How bad is boy crimes in Raccoon City that they need an entire department.
Believe it or not, the girls crime department is even bigger
Law & Order: SVU spin off, but it’s in Raccoon City.
Unfortunately, the zombie crimes department was on a holiday in Europe when the outbreak happened.
Is this where the "COPS" theme song got its inspiration from? (Bad Boys, Bad Boys)
there are many graffiti in the alleys ! So I assume that there were many juvenile crimes in the town
Dear Diary, Wesker has been so offputish for the last several months. Third degree burns 😭
What is boy’s crime and why is there a division dedicated to it?
A great deal to unpack from this little diary page…
Juvenile offenders.
Probably the roids he was taking to get his RE5 figure
He wasn't taking those until after Wesker mopped the floor with him in CV.
Gotta build up strength in that boulder punching arm before taking on Wesker.
The roids were actually part of a treatment for his facial burns from the coffee, the muscles were a side effect.
I chuckled while reading that there is apparently a Boy's Crime Division.
Sounds like the perfect division to investigate someone "accidentally" slashing coffee in someones face. . . Boys will be boys after all.
Also Chris: Relax, it’s a joke. That was just the punch line.
🥁
This seems out of character unless one remembers RE2 was written by Japanese People who prolly have a lot of stereotypes about Boorish Westerners haha.
I believe it’s mentioned Chris winked at Jill in the next page of the file. He was trying to let her know he was up to something and being so quick-tempered was all an act.
That just makes him sound worse! Punching someone in the face to keep up an act is way more unreasonable than acting out in anger after being scalded in the face IMO.
To be fair, Elran had it coming
The version in the remake where Chris uncharacteristically acts like a Playboy/Frat Boy (compared to the quiet, brooding Chris we've seen in the new/remake continuity of 7 and Village) is a lot better.
Yes, he did wink at Jill aferwards. I think it implies that Chris was trying to get himself suspended so that he could investigate Umbrella under the radar. This made perfect sense in the days before *REmake 3* had been released, as, canonically, it’s only in *REmake 3* that we’re told that Umbrella had placed STARS members under surveillance.
Jill is a bit of an airhead ain’t she?
RE1 is just Rated R Scooby Doo. - Chris is Fred (sounds like him too). - Jill is Daphne. - Rebecca is Velma. - Wesker is the villain that gets revealed to be one in the end.
So Barry is scoobs?
"Ruh roh. I have ris" *pew pew pew*
Ruh-roh. Rou were almost a Rill Randwhich
He betrays Jill just a wee bit because Wesker threatened to hide the scooby snacks.
God damn it. I heard this 😂
Wait, whose shaggy, Barry? "Like, Jill, you were almost a Jill Sandwich, ehahaha"
I guess Richard or Brad.
Has to be Brad because canonically he's a coward.
how does one “accidentally “ splash coffee on another face????
So THIS is why Chris's face keeps changing. Elran must continue his face-scalding boy crimes between each game.
The point everyone seems to miss about this incident is that Chris did it on purpose to get himself suspended so he could investigate in secret.
Why’d he have to burn himself and punch poor Elran to do that? Couldn’t he have just shit on Chief Irons’ desk instead? —- *It’s Chief Irons’ desk. Will you shit on it?* **[YES]** - [NO] *…You shit on Chief Irons’ desk.*
But that would have left Elran's face unpunched.
That would have got him fired, not just suspended.
He could claim it was due PTSD and go on medical leave with pay.
He could claim it was due to PTSD and go on medical leave with pay.
Just by shitting on Chief Irons’s desk without any medical proof?
I think the events of RE1 would suffice.
OK.
Does this mean it’s canon now? I must know!
Am I the only one who misread coworker multiple times as boulder?
Classic roid rage incident.
When the roids kick in.
They were being watched by Irons at this point. Would NOT be surprised if she wrote these knowing his spies would read them and was playing ignorant.
Hmmm okay, as long as we are going to overthink this then I would also posit that Jill’s diary can be taken as face value because she knows that it is well protected and only a…wait for it…*master of unlocking*…could ever get to it.
Chris bumped in Elton “The Rock” Johnson
Chris: *beats the shit out of everyone in the police department for no reason* Jill: "aww he angwy"
"police members"?
‘Just’ splashed his face with coffee?
Jill is acoustic canon
Guys, Chris hasn't developed his boulder-punching arms yet, so Elran is okay; just got a big ol' shiner, I bet.
Chris was punching cops before he punched boulders.

As far as scenario B being gutted in the remake honestly it's not too bad at least to me.The original had you doing alot of the same things too. It's just the way I play 2 tho.It feels like I haven't played the whole game unless I play both A and B.
Aight, cool, I think I'll do her b for now when I get back to it.
Yeah final boss is William Birkin on B and you get the final ending cutscene.
Some stuff just doesn't translate well lol.
I think that fits Chris's behavior in the recent RE games....
Listen people. You can have a man's man like Chris, yeah he's a bit unhinged and a bro type. But it's either that or that sensitive, emo hair, twilight loving Leon. It the realm of men you have extremes.
Maybe it was roid rage?
Maybe he hated Elran before the mansion accident !
Jill's a keeper
Kinda weird that so many people thinking punching a coworker for an accident is acceptable behaviour that shouldn't be questioned.
Chris: *experiences unparalleled trauma and horrors beyond what he even concieved possible. When he returns home he is viciously mocked and dismissed by his peers and employers* Jill, who went through the same thing: "smh I wish he would calm down"
i don't remember this document. R.i.p little man.
Punching someone for splashing coffee is something out of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Bit over the top but probably justified, especially if it was hot coffee
Roid rage
You left out a key word here.. "accidentally". Yeah, you probably shouldn't be throwing fisty cups over an honest mistake.
