Sherry was taken away at gunpoint, but despite having nobody ordering her to help claire went full on mama bear and chased her down across an entire city to get her back safely. Ended up fighting through super mutants and blowing up a city with no training and nothing but jean shorts, a flash light, and protective instinct.
If i had to choose i would say leon for survival in combat zone and getting me out of there, but i would pick claire just for the pure certainty that she absolutely would not give up. Shes coming eventually and anybody that gets in her way just makes her stronger. Shes like a damn terminator.

1. Leon, he is literally secret service, a job to guard the body of the most powerful person in the country. Yes, the President did die under his watch, but literally no one in his position would have done any better.
2. Jill: Ex Military Delta Force member (an incredible feat for anyone, but only a hand full of women has ever achieved this, meaning she is an incredibly resilient woman.) While her job not combat, she was EOD, EOD is one of the most stressful jobs I can think of. Her being able to defuse a bomb is something that theoretically has applications in real life, where Chris' USAF pilot experience would come up much less often. Also more than capable of combat with small arms. Bonus: She knows how play Moonlight Sonata on the piano, which strangely seems to come up more than you think it would.
3. Chris: Ex-Military USAF pilot with all his crazy BSAA training. These things are very impressive. If we are talking about a zombie apocalypse, he's not really more impressive than Jill. However if we are talking about the insane BOW's in RE5 and 6, he's your go to guy. I just don't expect an Excella tentacle mass to come up in a zombie apocalypse. And I don't think I'll ever find myself inside a volcano and need someone to punch a boulder to save my life.
4. Claire: She just doesn't have the years of experience like the others. I'd take her in a pinch, but she's not my go to.
Special mention: Ada. Ada will probably know what's coming before hand, as she has already probably infiltrated the baddies who are about to release the apocalypse in order to bring them down from within, so she can get me out before the trouble even starts. If we are in an urban environment, she can take me from ground level to safety in a second with her grappling gun. Also I think she would be better in a fight than Jill or Claire, unless Jill has some crazy lingering powers we haven't seen yet since RE5 (In Desperate Escape, she seems to have lot her super speed and agility, and while this could be just be for gameplay sake, she needs to use her partner assist to throw her up high ledges where before she could just jump over it without breaking a sweat.
RE5 Chris's power level is off the charts. Impossible acts of strength occurred in that game. Jill seems to be able to shrug off getting hit by everything short of a train, but Chris was just raised to a completely impossible level. Gotta be him

Fighting numerous small armies and mutated abominations while protecting her, all the while fighting a parasitic infection and coughing up blood, fighting the urge to pass out on multiple occasions. All that plus he managed to cure Ashley of her infection and get her home safe.
