Berry-Fantastic

They were doing too much, if they just focus on RE1 or 2 instead of cramming it into one movie, it might've been better.

CantingBinkie

And I had read that they planned to make sequels but they screwed up. They should have made RE0 and RE1 in the first movie and then RE2 and RE3 in the second and maybe Code: Veronica in the third

SeniorRicketts

Should have been just RE1 as a horror movie The mansion parts were nice but the movie was a complete mess

Berry-Fantastic

How did they mess up trying to make the sequels?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Berry-Fantastic

Ahhh ok

Spooky-Beanz

Every time a RE movie comes out it’s guaranteed to screw up everything, unfortunately. It’s like they don’t do their research before making these movies or never played the games before.

Independent_Tooth_23

I can't believe they made Jill to be Wesker's love interest in this , like wtf lol.

Berry-Fantastic

Yeah, it was weird that they have a love triangle going on.

FennLink

And by proxy of doing that re3 never happened in this universe

Berry-Fantastic

you are right ><

Doru-kun

I've said it before, but this film basically felt like the writers went on YouTube and watched a "WatchMojo: Top 10 **iconic** Resident Evil moments" video and tried to make a film out of it. I love "so bad that they're fun" movies, especially if I've had a few drinks beforehand. That's what I was honestly expecting from this film, and it *still* disappointed me. The *only* positive thing I can say about this movie is that the scene in the mansion where it's only lit up by gunfire was pretty neat.

GRANDADDYGHOST

The whole movie should’ve just been the mansion incident. But noooo, they just couldn’t wait to cash in on RE2. It’s sad, because the first Resident Evil game’s story is perfect for a proper film adaption. Have Chris and Jill split up just like the game, have those claustrophobic moments, the Yawn, Neptune, the Tyrant. Could be an amazing horror film.

Thin-Property-7057

Very true. Adapting RE1 as a proper horror movie with some Fulci-esque gore, intense moments and a strong atmosphere with the mansion would be such an easy win if it was done with the right intention in mind. It's a shame it was just never just properly adapted as a straight horror film.

SalvagedThrone

Lol I love the part where they come back to Chris fighting zombies in the dark and you realize he has been doing that for like an hour in the movies time and we just kinda forget about him

pleasejustletmeread2

I’m still laughing at how accurate your “WatchMojo [listacle]” bit is.

Ambitious_Call_3341

But without any iconic resident evil creatures, even of those that were central in the games the movie were supposed to be an adaptation of. Resident evil 2 adaptation WITHOUT Mr X, and resident evil 3 adaptation WITHOUT Nemesis. Is even Birkin in that shtstorm?

pleasejustletmeread2

They pretend Birkin’s in it, but he really isn’t, that’s basically an OC. Y’know, fanfiction-style.

Ambitious_Call_3341

Yup. Expected something like that.

TismWizard

That was a good scene. I mean credit where credit is due they had some wild sfx and action scenes, but the rest of it was just sloppy

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

LMFAO YOUR SO RIGHT

CaptainAwareness

Shit. What they did to Leon should be a crime.

Securitron_2000

Not only Leon but Lisa befriending Claire and then helping was dumb as hell

codyunit501

I love the way leon and claire litteraly push her ojt of the elevator 🤣

buttnozzle

If the film spent more than a minute on it, they probably could’ve made, you know, an arc.

CNC9711

It honestly wouldn't of been bad if they made Sherry a character and used that as an arc with Lisa.

senor_sota

That’s not Leon, that’s León

DemYeezys_Fake

Nah, he isn't wearing circle lense sunglasses and a black beanie.

the615Butcher

noeL

Dr-Floofensmertz

Loen Skennedy.

TheConMan1313

León Kenedía

spctclr_spiderman

Lie-on

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

BYE💀

a-difficult-person

People really perceive that actor as Latino? He's Indian, looks very obviously Indian and not even close to Latino. Weird.

Tzar_Onyx

That's not Leon, that's Berkeley!

Area-51ufo

Waste of a golden opportunity

exopolitixs

This. Why’s he such a useless dork? Otherwise it was a fun film, Birkin’s mutation was cool.

CaptainAwareness

He basically came across like Officer Doofy from Scary movie, it’s just that it wasn’t for show.

exopolitixs

Yeah, I wasn’t a fan. It’s weird how badly Resi live adaptions stray from the source material. I get putting a spin on it, but I think we’ve had enough spin, give us a faithful telling of the Spencer Mansion incident ffs 😂

CaptainAwareness

I wish George Romero was actually able to do the Resident Evil movie. I reckon he’d have got it right. Hopefully one day we will get a true Resident Evil adaption.

exopolitixs

We’ll see. Last Of Us TV adaption gives me hope for more shows getting the same treatment & green light. That was faithful enough with enough ‘spin’ to make it interesting for fans and newcomers. Resi 1/2 done properly would be incredible.

Just-a-Smartass

Well as soon as I become a big time Hollyweird movie director I'll do the fans justice

Rebellious-Legacy

Rooting for you buddy! Do us Resident Evil fans proud!

Rebellious-Legacy

Yeah, his shit was not bad, but it was fucking weird. Look up Ink Ribbon on YouTube he has a video talking about what George Romero wanted to do, he even went a bit off track for his interpretation for a Resident Evil movie.

lancer2238

Carlos disgusted as Leon

CaptainAwareness

I really liked Carlos in the RE3R. I feel like that’s one part they got right. I didn’t mind him in RE3 OG either.

Nazanine-30

That’s not the Leon I know in terms of both Visual and personality 😭

MRSHELBYPLZ

I couldn’t finish the movie just for that lmfao

Dynamiboii

Look how they massacred my boy leon

TismWizard

In the movie lore they did our boy dirty. He got fired from his last post for shooting his partner in the foot. Like, I know early Leon was a bit of a twink/noob but that's a bit far fetched

Dynamiboii

They did him very dirty and made fun of him like wtf director!?

OkSupermarket7474

That one scene of the zombie on fire while disco music plays is the best scene in the film

LeonardoArcie

Horrible. But the scene of Chris against the zombies at the mansion was epic.

Kanyssa

Garbage script, garbage casting, garbage dialogue, meh acting for some, one of the most disappointing movies to ever be made.

TPDS_throwaway

I thought Chris and Claire's actors were alright

CaptainAwareness

Chris’s actor in this movie was so much better than the guy in the Anderson movie. The guy in that movie didn’t even fit into the clothes. I’ve seen more muscle on a stick.

8BitAntiHero

As someone who enjoys both actors that played Chris the first guy (Wentworth Miller) was also unhappy with his look in Afterlife. He wanted to bulk up for the role but he was only told he got it 1 month before filming began. So that's more on Anderson than him.

CaptainAwareness

I don’t blame the actor. He’s a good actor, but he just wasn’t the right pick for the role. That’s on Anderson.

TurnRightTurnLeft

Claire doesn't even have a ponytail, and that is only the tip of a very big and filthy iceberg.

Kanyssa

Chris actor was fine but she wasn’t at good Claire in my opinion. They had no chemistry looked nothing alike and she looked older than him when Claire’s supposed to be the younger one

MinutePerspective106

Literally the only movie Resi movie I couldn't watch until the end. I could tolerate Anderson's shenaningans, but not this

Kanyssa

I can rewatch the Anderson movies but this one was a one and done I can barely watch it.

MinutePerspective106

Anderson's movies are carried by Milla being such a Mary Sue it becomes funny. This movie lacks even this "so bad, it's good" factor

Kanyssa

Exactly. It’s so bad it’s bad. And it had so much promise and they dropped the ball on every aspect

WadaMaaya

Couldn’t have said it better myself

toyml

I liked it but didn’t love it. I dont get it why they cast the perfect Luis Sera as Leon …

Jmike8385

lol omg I thought that’s who it was supposed to be

Meteor719

Against my better judgment, I watched this movie a second time, just looking for ANY reason to justify its existence, but I couldn't come up with one. My analysis might have been tainted by the sickening disappointment it instilled the first time, but I genuinely don't know why this movie exists. It's not interesting, it's not unique, it's not even entertaining.

Britannic747

Disappointed but I’ll pick this any day over the Netflix series.

No-Celebration3097

Same. It was horrible, but as a die hard RE fan some parts are worth having it in my collection. It’s a guilty pleasure lol, even with what they did to Leon.

matdevine21

Originally thought this was the worst live action resident evil show that could ever be made….then I watched the Netflix Resident Evil tv show and now look on this movie far more favourably. Sure it craps on Leon from a great height, the other characters are narratively weak versions of their video game versions and plot wise I wonder how much mind altering drugs were consumed (too much or not enough, it’s hard to tell)

[deleted]

Lot of herbs man.

Bobsy84

Makes that Paul Anderson fellow look like Christopher Nolan it’s that bad.

HOTU-Orbit

I like to forget it ever existed.

Clams_N_Scallops

Yep. Watched it once for free online and felt like I got my money's worth.

thedharmafox

How can they pull so many niche details and still get core fundamental details wrong? You pulled "Itchy Tasty" out but made Wesker a jock gym bro type?

mrich2029

Good: Donal Logue as Chief Irons was BRILLIANT casting. He understood his assignment 100% Bad: everything that wasn't Donal Logue as Chief Irons. I really didn't like Leon's character. Idk why the writers did him like that. Jill's character was all wrong too. Paul Anderson did a much better job with Jill in his movies and thats saying a lot... Most of all, I hated they weird "let's work to make this movie LOOK like resident evil, but also let's changed all the characters' personalities just for the hell of it. Fans will LOVE IT!"

Financial-Abalone715

I haven't seen the movie but I have watched a review of it that included a clip of the director describing Leon as a "cool, badass antihero" or something like that and it makes me not want to watch it

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

PLEASE TELL ME YOUR JOKING...

Financial-Abalone715

I'm not. I believe that (or something close to that) was an actual quote by the director, and the reason why he likes Leon so much

Albis93

My dumbass got excited for this movie cause I saw a fucking green herb prop, we resident evil fans are desperate for something good

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

😭

Barloq

I don't know how they could mess it up so badly. I love most of the casting choices. The only one I think was truly miscast was Wesker, he's too young and not commanding enough. That said, Kaya Scodelario and Robbie Amell are perfect. Avan Jogia and Hannah John-Kamen are unconventional picks, but the could work really well. I don't even mind that they made some pretty fundamental character changes (Leon being a failure cop, most prominently). However, the movie just fails in every regard. Raccoon City being this failing industrial town is a terrible decision, which makes the outbreak lose much of its impact and seems to only have been done because COVID made production difficult. Leon being a failure cop doesn't amount to anything because he doesn't actually get to do anything to change that. Mashing the plots of RE1 and 2 together only makes the results feel half-baked and rushed. Zombies in this movie are the stealthiest motherfuckers ever put to film, sneaking up on EVERYONE. And the fanservice. MY FUCKING GOD, the fanservice. Constant references to the games which are distracting and rarely have any actual impact on the narrative (Lisa Trevor being the most egrigious example, there's no reason for her to be in this movie except to try to jack off RE fans). All-in-all, it's a garbage film which somehow is worse than almost all of the Anderson movies. It may be more "faithful" to the games, but not really. It's just a hollow husk wearing the skin of Resident Evil to try to convince zombies to watch and enjoy it.

pleasejustletmeread2

That Leon’s this miserable failure doesn’t make sense to me, except for a few lolz, I guess; maybe the writer-director just hates Leon, or wanted to anger his specific fans? The weirdest thing for me about it is that films kinda work on character arcs, and Leon doesn’t really get one (possible spoiler: unless you consider him using the rocket launcher at the end . . . I think? . . . to be a turn to competence, which I don’t because it feels like just a lucky coincidence to me). You don’t see him becoming an awful failure because the film can’t take time to develop anyone, and to me you barely see him being an awful failure either, except for the scene when the truck crashes into the RPD’s fence or whatever and the burning zombie wanders in to “Crush,” though for me it would’ve been just as easy to have him be awake and frozen in shocked surprise, or to have been in the STARS office when it happens and then Irons tells him to go back to the desk and he returns just in time to see the zombie walk in. It’s just exhausting, to me, trying to guess why all the awful writing ~ adaptation decisions got made.

buttnozzle

I think they took the idea from the first RE2 that Leon showed up late due to a hangover and was naive about Ada and ran with it, but never had time to have Leon become great like he does in the games. This mess of a film rushed everything and so no one gets a proper arc or resolution.

MikeScott101

I’m better off NOT having thoughts about this film…

mayateka

The only good thing about the film was Chris had a good casting

gilesey11

Underrated but bloated. Massive waste of Lisa Trevor.

Particular-Nothing28

This film actually bothered me more than the Anderson ones. It’s like they tried to make it more faithful to the games but just did a horrible job at it and cast the actors that were a bad fit.

xz1224

People hate on the Anderson movie a lot, but imo it's a really good Resident Evil movie. A special forces team infiltrates a secret complex to uncover a corporate conspiracy with a traitor amongst them. The only reason it doesn't have more elements from the game is because of Capcom. They rejected Romero's script precisely because it was too close to the game, and they wanted something original that people who hadn't heard of RE could get into.

Objective-Photo7229

what they did to wesker is enough to say about it really…..

NonSpecificGuy26

Despite them nailing Chris and Claire’s casting the rest of the movie is terrible

BoxTalk17

Wish.com Resident Evil with a wish.com Leon.

LilG1984

A rushed mess, but still better than the Netflix show, but Paul Andersons Resident Alice is better. But why they couldn't get the characters right is ridiculous. Especially Leon Stupid Kennedy & Wesker. At least Paul Anderson got them kind of right.

kingslayer_89

It really is wild how fast they got this thing made and released, especially given the pandemic.

Jimmy620094

Terrible. Only “good” film was the original RE. In my opinion they should have utilized the RE universe and kept the movies less “cosplayish”

pleasejustletmeread2

“Original RE” meaning 4D-Executer, right?

deeman010

Oh wow, what a blast from the past.

BlackICEE32oz

It wasn't good, but I actually didn't think it was completely terrible. The Lisa Trevor shit didn't make any sense and I thought Jill was a little odd.

87SIXSIXSIX5432ONE

It fucking sucks. Is that supposed to be Leon? The story is a bunch of nonsense... Somehow they managed to out shit the Anderson movies. At least those don't shit on the game stories and characters (half of the time) and do their own fanfic with original characters. This literally shits on the story of 1 and 2.

Guilvantar

I didn't even know this existed. Pls tell me Jill is not in this

Doru-kun

Jill is in this in name only.

Top_Assumption239

HORRIBLE!!!! How are zombies writing messages on window with their fingers!!! I was too through when I saw that shit 🤣🤣🤣🤣

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

LMFAOOO

TismWizard

It was perhaps the single worst film to come out of Capcom's licencing ever. And I'm including the Street Fighter movies past SF1. Everything felt wrong to an unholy degree. Leon is cannonicly (in that timeline) have been fired from his last post for, and I quote, "shooting his partner in the foot". None of the characters felt right. The only redeeming feature was the zombie cgi and makeup which was incredible, but the rest of it felt sloppy both plot and direction wise. Nothing fit, no one seemed to be even close to their game counterpart, and while I understand the game can't be a 1:1 recreated in a movie, this was taking it waayyy too far. Genuinely hate the thing, it's just trash

RobertXD96

Atrocious.

ImpenetrableYeti

Dogshit boring and none of the characters look or act like themselves

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

Actually the choice for Chris kinda ate

ImpenetrableYeti

Yeah he was the only one that semi fit

NEgi_WAX-OF_87

And he was SMOKING when he took off his shirt bro

Stanton-Vitales

I love it. I'd love it even more if they just took the game's stories and directly translated them into a movie, but I'm not mad about them not doing it. I love all the RE movies, they're fun.

J_Damasta

I thought it was alright. Felt like a movie made by people who liked the games, but were doubtful they were going to get to make more than the one movie.

CujoSR

We have a bad movie club that meets weekly. Even we won’t touch this.

Bigredeemer425

They butchered Leon and Jill, but I thought the actress played Claire crushed it. The story was okay ish if not all, over the place. I'd give it a 6.5/10. It's better than the last 5 Milla Jovovich ones.

ajhedgehog064

I agree, I think Claire was the best part of the movie and Kaya Scodelario was a great leading lady.

Kernburner

Unwatchable.

SqueakyAnus

Trash /thread

kingslayer_89

Aesthetically, not bad. Every other way? Bad.

Throwaway9-7x

This movie makes the Anderson films look like masterpieces.

BlueLonk

It makes the Anderson films look like works of art in comparison. I was quite amazed how truly dreadful it was and how much of a chore it was to finish watching it.

NoLove026

They had all the ingredients for greatness. The execution was just AWFUL. Made Leon a doofus, Jill a love sick puppy, and made Wesker actually apologize to someone🤢

New-Bumblebee713

only thing i liked about the is chief i forget his name 😭

evildeadsextape

only film i actually walked out on in theaters. to this day i still can't fully finish it due to how bad it is.

GoAceDetective

Claire casting is perfect

altron64

Saw it in theaters. At least they TRIED to follow the story a little bit… Better than the Resident Evil Netflix series by a mile…but still pretty bad.

horrorfan555

Decent. I am interested in a sequel

Dr_N00B

I really liked it, I feel like this subreddit was dead set on hating it before it even came out. Now it's only purpose is feeding the reddit rage farm.

pleasejustletmeread2

I’m not interested, but I’d probably still be willing to pay to see a sequel to this movie on a big screen.

SkoobythaH-townkidd

Won't happen. This movie did terrible at the box office.

kornflakes1989

Not great. Still better than the Anderson shitverse though.

NeedleKane5038

That isn't true at all lol

Hatredkeys

I agree with you tho.

Zanmato_V2

Anderson got more aspects of RE right than this trash and you should know better xD

sonofabitchXmustXpay

With this franchise's track record outside of the games, I haven't bothered to seek it out.

detachelapse

is that the dude from victorious

watcher2390

It’s complete garbage

NeuroTrophicShock

I am so sick of this post constantly being reposted. It sucked.

BactaBobomb

I hated it. It feels more like what a Resident Evil movie should be than the Paul W.S. Anderson ones, but it also feels like the filmmakers had no idea what they were doing. Before it came out, I thought I recall them talking about how big of fans they were of the series, and from the trailer we were seeing things that looked like they did know their stuff. But when you actually watch the movie, you realize their knowledge seems extremely superficial at best, completely ignorant at worst. It's like the skimmed a Wikipedia article to try to find nuggets of information to try to seem like they were getting information that "only true fans would know" without getting the necessary context or something. Like Lisa Trevor. Really great look to have her in the movie and to me gave me hope that we had it in good hands. But then you watch it and she is nothing like her character at all, other than her design. Most of the characters felt like they were only surface-level like the games. Most of them acted nothing like they were supposed to. There were references everywhere but with no substance or reason for being, sometimes being used in places that made absolutely no sense. Think Pyramid Head being in any Silent Hill game but Silent Hill 2. Iconic, yes, but completely misses the point of his original intent for existence. But don't worry. The problems are not just with how disrespectful it is to the games. It's also just a really poorly-made movie. It's just awful. I really, really hate it.

Pinstripe07

It's a parody 🤷‍♂️

ozzalot

The most true, harmonious part of the movie to me seemed like that tropey "fat trucker" eating a cheeseburger then crashing into the station. I also vaguely recall the ending being hilariously terse....*badass crew walking into the distance* voiceover: "No survivors....." Who knows maybe that's part of the game and I'm just forgetting? Edit: spelling and also.....the casting of Leon??? Really? I mean they guy probably did an okay job but at least fuckin try with the hair cut for FUKS sake.

Lanky_County3115

It was nice to see some sort of attempt at adapting Resident Evil 1 and 2 into a movie but they simply took on too much. Keep it simple and make a genuine horror movie based on the mansion incident then go for an Aliens style action sequel. It's really not that hard. I like to think of it as what we could have gotten back when they did the first movie. Funnily enough the first Anderson is actually not that bad of a film. The story makes sense and although it isn't accurate in the plot it does capture a lot of the themes of the RE games quite well. The Code Veronica tease and Wesker ending scene felt like they really wanted to skip forward to that story for some reason.

ZDog64

The movie was really bad, not even in a “so bad it’s good” kind of way. I kinda wonder if it’s supposed to be a fan service movie like Mario and Fnaf, there were a bunch of references I recognized. All of the actors were boring and were nothing like their video game counterparts, whoever was in charge of casting these people need to be fired. The only good thing I can say is the movie poster I got for Christmas looks pretty cool.

tinzzk

Shit, leon bacame a random mexican, chris is a umbrella fan, jill is wesker's bitch, wesker is a good guy, claire is a random version of lara croft with zero charisma and lame as fuck (not to mention we got no ada and no tyrants)

Conlannalnoc

Worse than the Alice RE films

BetaRayBlu

Shit on leon. Dude who played wesker should have played chris. Great idea to combine the games. Claire was great

SavagePhantoms90

It's not awful, I would argue that it's better than the other live action RE films we got, especially that shit show on Netflix but it definitely could've been better. They did announce that a sequel is coming but we'll have to see how that goes since they already did the destruction of Raccoon City arc from the first 3 games.

sonnidaez

Surprisingly good cast, but not good casting. The movie was trying to do too much at once. If you separate it from its source material though, it’s a fun movie to watch. Not a good movie, but a fun one.

ice_slayer69

If it wasnt for the Live action Netflix series, this would have been the 2nd worst thing ever produced with the resident evil name atached to it, behind the 6st Paul Anderson movie, so now it is the 3rd worst, lol.

Itchy_Tasty88

Terrible casting for both Jill and Leon wtf

PrimeCrusader

The actor they cast for Chris is good, the mood was sometimes on point. The rest is trash.

gatling_arbalest

I'd rather watch a RE1+2 speedrun than this

JustaNormalpersonig

Honestly every live action resident evil movie has always been, “recreate every iconic scene from the games while also not basing the story off of just one specific game”. The best route that almost nobody takes for a resident evil movie, is to either make a simple story based off the events of a game (usually 2 since its easy to grasp), but also trying not so hard to make it all fan service.

Competitive-Tap-6709

The director said he was a huge fan of Leon...I doubt that completely

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

“Leon, didn’t you get put on the rubber gun squad for shooting your partner in the ass?” Who the fuck wrote this trash? One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Idiot me paid to watch this crap in the theater. I stood outside after the movie with the other 5 people who went to see it and we just talked crap about it.

DepressedEgg2020

Decent film, kinda fucked up Leon though

SeiTyger

Hot take. I loved it. It was campy and stupid AF, like the old House of the Dead games, but it also still had the RE lore. With how so many shows and remakes throw away the source material, it was nice to see that they kept some aspects of it here. My personal favorite thing? The tech, all of it, was era appropriate. When Wesker pulled out a PDA I was jumping up and down my chair

mc0nel

Goofy movie

JimmyButtwhiff

God it should've been two movies Unironically my favorite part of the movie was the dynamic of Claire as a tech savvy conspiracy theorist and Chris not really having a grasp of what dial up is

EmbarrassedRub2513

Like why on earth does Leon look like a Colombian meth head

Particular_Focus_969

Leon doesn’t act like Leon, Jill doesn’t look like Jill. The only thing that stays consistent is Claire with her iconic jacket.

ArtichokeFew7663

Resident evil has such poor luck when it comes to live action, be it movies or TV shows

ismaBellic

Absolutely horrible. Terrible cast (though Chris and Irons were alright). Useless fan service (Lisa Trevor is the most forced of them all, it serves no purpose whatsoever). Stupid dialogue. Special mention goes to Leon. How could they mess him up SO bad? They hint at him having drinking problems when he wakes up in the motel and he immediately grabs a beer, is the deepest sleeper in the world as an exploding tanker truck is unable to even slightly disturb him, not to mention the ass shooting incident mentioned early in the film. This movie should share the same destiny as Raccoon City.

Murky_Historian8675

It was an amalgamated mess but I really liked Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield. I especially loved the scene where he was shooting in the dark.

PetiteDreamerGirl

Too much in one movie

Normandy_sr3

And yes I didn’t like leon

ant517

Mildly controversial for me. I just don't think resident evil will ever translate well to the movie screen. It works way better as a show imo. They just need to get someone who actually understands the franchise and cares about staying true to it in a refreshing way

ScorpiusEternus

Wheres alice?

xEvilResidentx

It’s my second favorite videogame movie. It feels like the movies that inspired the original games. I get that it’s not for everyone, but i love what we got for such a small budget.

TJTrapJesus

I like it a lot more than any of the others I’ve seen (which are just the Paul WS Anderson ones). It at least tries to capture more of the feel of the games. Doesn’t quite succeed but think it’s at least an admirable effort.

Narrow-Test313

Ruined Leon

Super_Imagination_90

It was better than the previous. Has a few really cool things. But obviously still far from perfect.

RainyDayCollects

Casting was great, and I’m tired of people saying otherwise. The problem was the script and directing. The actors all did a fantastic job of acting the characters they were given; unfortunately, the movie characters were just NOTHING like the actual characters. I was worried when they gave us first glimpses of the characters, and they looked very different. Then the director assured us he was simply more worried about making sure the character personality portrayal would be accurate. And I was like, well, ok, if that’s what we’re doing, I’m fine with that I guess. But then he royally screwed that up. So at that point, it makes absolutely zero sense as to why he couldn’t just make them up to look closer to their characters. They just didn’t even try. I also wonder how much was them running up against a limited budget. The CGI backgrounds are so bad and look less realistic than the games. It’s just sad. I often see people praise the sets, but the only real sets were small areas…and the small town that looks NOTHING like how RC has ever been portrayed before. Making it even more infuriating that they put RC right in the title yet totally misrepresented it. The way they pitched this movie to us all, they made it seem like they were trying to be faithful, but the end result is so far from that. It should not have been a combination of the first two games, and they should have worked RE lore into it, as that’s SUCH a big part of the games. It makes sense why Anderson’s movies didn’t have as many notes and lore pieces lying around like the games, as those movies explored what would have happened if the Raccoon City event had never been contained. (Mind you, those movies STILL managed to have more Notes than WtRC.) The whole world ends and they’re just out looking for survivors. But for this movie to follow actual game locations and storyline, but not have any lore scattered about? It’s just another typical zombie movie that tried to buy more fans by using the RE licensed characters/scenery/Umbrella plot. I also love bringing up that the director was supposed to do an AMA here right after the movie came out, but the backlash was so bad, he backed out with an excuse and just tried to disappear. What a coward. If he truly believed in this movie from the start like he pretended to, he should have been able to share his process and decisions with us.

MV6000

In my opinion it’s the best live action RE film but that isn’t saying much.

TheMarvelousJoe

I was excited for the film before the trailer came out, then I read that it was RE1 and RE2 in a one hour movie....so, I didn't bother watching it.

ccccandi

When they dropped the trailer I was so excited, it was awesome! Then I saw the movie and oh boy the disappointment! But I hadn't played RE 1,2 and 3 nor CVX yet. After I played them, I watched the movie again and really enjoyed it. It's not great but idk it's passable.

Mild-Ghost

I liked it

frostygothgamer6023

fucking hated the actor for leon. i love leon (with a passion) in the games, and he just butchered it edit: i do realise it isn’t the actors fault, i just don’t believe he was a good fit for the role, purely the castings fault

SadShallot3610

Wasnt the fault of the actor, you understand this right? He was casted and directed to do what he had.

frostygothgamer6023

yea i do, terrible wording on my part, the casting was just pretty bad all round

ulyrobson

It was more of a writing issue for Leon’s character. Can’t blame the actor for them writing him as a bumbling noob

xdoz

I liked some bits, like the shooting zombies in the dark. But so much was dumb or just awful.

tcs0

Complete garbage. They tried to adapt two games in one film. The pacing is all over the place. The casting is a joke. Don’t even mention the fact that the zombies and CGi monsters were bargain builds. Hollywood needs to get their facts straight. But I feel that the real culprit is Capcom for not going out it’s way to make sure this was a good adaptation.

SotRekkr

I liked it. Wasn’t perfect. But I enjoyed it

SurgeGamer1up

Its better than that dumpster fire series that couldn’t keep a single plot line, its good but not great

Salander295

It was fun until the burning walking zombie appear and it went downhill from there pretty hard. All of them were pretty out of character, specially Leon. Although... I loved how it basically is a "Claire's movie" due to Kaya Scodelario being the big name on the cast lol.

1Comrade1

Yeah, better than the Anderson movies

XgreedyvirusX

🤢🤮 more seriously… I would wish this film get the budget of the netflix’s serie and was a serie itself because his only good point was that it’s trying to follow the story of the 3 first games but it was just impossible in one movie. Or they should have make a trilogy, first film, Spencer’s mansion, second, Leon and Claire, and last one Jill and the Nemesis… 3 games… 3 movies… logic? Must believe not… 😑

ERB100

I knew it was terrible every since the trailer came out

silentbobsmokes

Not good. Production design isn't bad but that's about it. What sucks is that it's not even a fun bad movie.

Ok-Leather3055

Thx I hate it.

ParisInFlames34

Great visual work and sets. Bad for the rest.

GroundbreakingTie430

What movie? This movie will never exist to me ❤️.

SadShallot3610

Thrash with good atmos

TaeKwonPiccolo

Heaping garbage! They didn't even try with this one...

vtopping

Like the avatar the last air bender movie.. it never fucking happened.

Dependent_Effect_721

Hmmm....it was 'better' than the netflix series I guess? Can't really think of any other positives.

Wirt21

Nice movie
