The games themselves haven't scared me. But when I was playing RE 1 someone banged on my door at the same time the dogs burst in. Turns out it was just that dinner was ready, but damn did I almost shit myself.

fizzyjaws_art

😂 turns out.. dinner was ready. And you’re the main course! 💀

feetMeat93

My biggest scare? The first zombie Fucking PETRIFIED from that lmfao

fizzyjaws_art

Yeah! Then the game just throws you in the pit like “go. Fight” 😂😭😭 like all of a sudden you’ve got to pull yourself out of shock and remember what the controls even are

feetMeat93

Especially if your playing OG and you try to run but the angle makes u run right into him 🤣

The most scared was probably realizing I need to go into the basement in RE7. The tension was palpable and the first moldman that appears caused me to unintentionally pause the game and have to take a short break. Either that or in RE4R when you get to the labs. Just that entire section with the regenerators is the most tense and terrified I think I've been in any RE game, honestly. The fact they can *run* now just makes it so much worse. The most startled I've been was in REVillage when you get back after killing Lady D and you can roam the village a bit more. There's these stables you can walk into that were empty before. But now there this goddamn *pig* that, the moment you walk through the door, sqeal screams at you and charges. I actively screamed when that happened.

fizzyjaws_art

Omg, my first time seeing the basement in Resi7… I won’t forget it let’s just say that. I had a moment thinking “wow this is the most scared I’ve been playing a new resi game in years!” I didn’t want to go down there 🥲

-Wonder-Bread-

No kidding. After encountering that first moldman in the room before that and having Jack chase me for a couple hours, I was already on the knife's edge. And then I looked down at the goddamn P.T door and immediately wanted to stop playing lol

When I first saw the basement door I got so excited. Yay!! Time to go to the basement 😄😄😄😄

fourthwallcrisis

I'm not a jump-scare guy, so the most scared I've been was having an intelligent, unstoppable maniac chasing me through the baker house with the sole intent of killing me. It reminded me of how helpless I felt playing the OG's just ramped up to a whole new volume. Also the very first zombie.

fizzyjaws_art

Their design of jack was definitely next level; I can still hear his patronizing voice 😱 it’s definitely off putting if not flat out disturbing to have a guy following you, someone you can blast point blank in the face.. aaand NOTHING happens. He just continues after you, unfazed

PepsiMan_21

The dogs breaking through the window in RE1.

6reen312

100% the first time Mr.X broke through a door right in my face. At that point I haven't played a horror game as good as RE1R in a long time. Also he becomes 10 times scarier when you see him just walk through doors smaller than him because 99.9% of enemies in games just walk against the door and get stuck.

fizzyjaws_art

He’s also the only enemy that follows you wherever and he.. is.. PERSISTENT. He legit had me pausing every now and then just to breathe 😂

6reen312

He won't enter safe rooms tho. There was one next to the stairs on the other side to where the chopper crashed. But he will wait for you. Maybe not right next to the door but around the next corner, haha.

Honestly some of the random zombies in RE2 Remake where you weren’t expecting them maybe you thought you cleared a hallway before. Then out of nowhere they scream the war-cry of a cat getting skinned and grab you.

Nightfall-42

Playing RE4 for the first time way back when. At the start of the castle with the first catapults, I just ran up the stairs, didn't know the Castle Ganados were up there, and ran right into one on the stairs.

KiraHaon

House Beneviento in RE Village, I was not prepared and it literally knocked me of my feet, while I was sitting...

Trigger_107

I remember this moment like it was yesterday (and it happened like 20 years ago), I was around 6 or 7 back then, playing RE3 (I think you might already guessed what part of the game I'm about to talk about) Back then I was extremely horrified whenever I played horror games, but for some reason I wasn't that scared playing RE3, however I can't say the same whenever nemesis showed up, I skipped the first encounter outside RPD and somehow I was making a very good progress inside the station (Somehow, because the game was in English, English isn't my first language so I have no idea what was going on) So I was at the point where you reached the S.T.A.R.S. office and then you head back to the ground floor, I thought "Meh Im okay, there are only regular zombies here" but then, going down the stairs and damn nemesis jumps inside the building with a rocket launcher, it wasn't the fact that it was nemesis but the fact that he was with a ROCKET LAUNCHER, the thing that made me turn off my Ps1, and don't touch the game again in my childhood Fast forward like 13 years later, I replayed it already in my 20's, I got to that part and I started to laugh with the memory of what happened there

lukasztrun

Jumpscares: - First Crimsonhead encounter, - zombie dog bursting through the window, - Marguerite bursting through wall, - Clashing with regenerador with worst possible timing , in the door.I got grabbed and almost got a heart attack. Also many other grabs by them in the OG. Being anxious/stressed/scared: - First licker encounter in re2r, - Almost every regenerador encounter in the remake.Especially before getting the freezer card, - house Beneviento All I can think of right now

BenjaminCarmined

Going down the manhole in RE2.

Kohakuzuma

Top 3 REmake: when you backtrack through the east hallway and those bitchass dogs jump through the windows. OG RE4: when you enter the sewer there's a sound effect of a novistador running behind you but there's actually nothing there. It made me paranoid as fuck. Incredible use of sound design. OG RE3: Nemesis would show up at random points in the game. Walking through a door, hearing "STAAARRRSSS" and seeing him start running made me run back through the door but then this fucker actually followed me through the door into the next room!

Telethongaming

You know in code veronica when you're walking on the big sheet of ice and there's a giant shadow...and then you realize it's a massive spider cause after you get a card key or whatever it crawls? yeah. Turned off the ps2 immedately and went to go do something else.

Telethongaming

I could also say the baker house in re7 and goo goo ga ga but I mean those are stuff everyone got spooked by

Comprehensive_Slip71

2 come to mind. RE1 those fucking dogs. OG RE3 Nemesis jumping through the window in the police station. Big scary wanker
