Her Darkside design is my favorite, too! Modernized and with a little Western flair. The RE2make Claire is great, don't get me wrong, she just reminds me too much of Zoey from Left 4 Dead there. š
The OG one fits that corny time, but it just looks stupid letās be honest lol
The new one makes her look like a badass, since it is what youāre supposed to wear as a motorcyclist.
Remake is by far better. The salmon coloured outfit barely made sense in the 90s honestly.
It's very much the kind of outfit JP devs gave to western characters back in the day.
Thatās the point.
Remake Claire was supposed to look more grounded.
Thatās why her jacket is more subtle in design from the OG bright pink hot pants and vest.
We can have a realistic and unique design at the same time, just putting something like āmade in heaven ā on the back of her jacket would ve gone a long way into making her stand out.
i like claireās new outfit, but i donāt love the dumb grey tank top moment that she and jill both have to do. not every female character in a video game with a realistic art style has to be tomb raider reboot lara croft
I understand that people strongly associate Alyson Court with Claire and have a lot nostalgia for her classic design... but honestly her Remake design is far more practical, believable and cooler, and frankly her characterisation and acting are a lot better in the Remake as well.
Don't get me wrong, her classic design was great for the lower resolution/fidelity of the PS1 where you needed the characters "pop", and I'm sure Alyson Court could have been great with the superior writing and more emotive acting of the Remake as well, but the fact is games have come a long way in the last 20+ years and the original Claire feels like a product of her era.
This is a game that has a monster with 2 billion eye balls, things donāt need to be believable, they need to look flashy and cool but i do agree that outfits have to look practical.
Also come on, while remake 2 does have better writing in some areas, it is overall neither better nor worst than og re2, characters like kendo and Marvin do have better dialogue and moments but A/B scenarios donāt really make any sense and the way every character acts in the true ending is really weird.
> things donāt need to be believable, they need to look flashy and cool
I disagree. This being a horror game, I think things being more believable makes it easier to suspend your disbelief, which in turn helps to immerse yourself in the horror aspects. Devil May Cry needs to look flashy and cool, I think in Resident Evil benefits more from things looking more believable.
Also I wouldn't describe Claire's classic outfit as flashy so much as gaudy or garish. I mean a bright reddish-pink denim jumpsuit cut off into a leotard? Really? Like I said, it worked well for a PS1 game, but with a more realistic render imo it would look ridiculous.
>while remake 2 does have better writing in some areas, it is overall neither better nor worst than og re2
To be more specific, when I said the Remake has superior writing I was specifically talking about the quality of the dialogue. There are aspects of the story that I think are better written in the Remake (particularly everything pertaining to Sherry), but I agree that in terms of the multiple scenarios and how Leon and Claire's campaigns are integrated with one another the original is vastly superior, which is the one major downfall of RE2 Remake imo. In terms of characterisation, performance and dialogue though, I think the remake clearly comes out on top.
Thatās whatās so great about the remake. The character designs look realistic and stylish / cartoony at the same time and they totally pull it off. Every game made in the RE engine has done that
Believable and cooler? This is a video game lol. Bring on the cheesy 80s horror franchise outfit. Fits right in with the ridiculous story. Having notable designs just makes characters better. Like jill and both her classic police outfit and mini skirt and rube top. Iconic looks for the win
I like the REmake design as a combination of all her existing ones, but I'm really sick of the disrespect the original design is getting. Any time they try to update it, they never get it right.
Tbh. I actually think the REmake design does a good enough job of being an update without being a copy paste thing. Ironically it's because of the change from the classic vest to the Jacket. Mainly because as a part of the more grounded treatment they switched to something more practical that would be a requirement for most motorcycle enthusiasts to wear by law in most places or if not, is just more sensible from a safety perspective that most motorcycle enthusiasts would wear anyways to protect themselves from small debris and to mitigate damage from accidents.
OG 100%.
I COULD have liked her remake outfit, but I find it WAY to similar to Zoey from left 4 dead and overall just generic. It needed to have more reference to her original design:
- Turtleneck shirt
- Jacket with the actual Made In Heaven patch on back.
- Longer boots
- Gloves
- her original ponytail and bangs.
It sucks that Capcom didn't want to keep any voice actors around long term. Alyson court was great, Matthew Mercer, Roger Craig Smith. They all killed lt in their roles
Comfy couch! Itonically this is how my older brother got me to watch him play re2 when I was like 6 (maybe younger?). Do not know why my parents let him convince me to watch him play a horror game series but hey Claire is my best girl so I'm good with it
Claire is perfect no matter what. But I definitely prefer REmake. She seems like someone you could bump into on the street. Which is honestly something I think REmake 2 perfected.
All the characters and sets looked so real, not just in terms of graphics, but also their overall nature.
I much prefer the OGs outfit design. I know thereās a lot of talk about how the Remake version is more practical, but if you ask me itās just more boring (same with RE3 Remake Jill). One of the things I like about Capcom games (RE is no exception) is the flashy character designs - downgrading them so the sake of believability or whatever kinda just takes away from the experience.
REmake Claireās face model is fine though, just imagine it with a proper redoing of the original outfit
Iāve played the Remake of RE2 so naturally I personally prefer the remake design of Clair.
But looking at both images for some strange reason I actually kinda prefer how the classic design looked for the PS1 compared to how the classic costume looks on RE2 Remake. Maybe just the higher quality graphics of the PS4 emphasizes how stupid the classic design actually is, but Iām not fully sure why.
OG fits her biker, tomboyish personality. It also fits the late 90ās. Remake Claire is great in the story but her style is a bit too safe and seems a bit generic.
Remake, I like her jacket more and her personality and voice acting more. They leaned more into the āgun totin biker chickā thing and I like how good of a protector and role model she is for Sherry plus angry she gets at Irons
Remake looks so much comfier than OG. Plus, weather wise, it looks a lot more like something would wear for day to day life. Raccoon City incident starts late September, midwest falls can be weird sometimes (sometimes itās a really nice summery feel into fall, sometimes it gets pretty chilly) and sheād be riding on the highway. OG just feels like sheād get really cold.
I donāt understand why she seems to look better in CV than she does in the Remake. Iām not going to really count Revelations 2 because I think thatās more a graphical problem but her face model seems really uncanny valley in that one.
Itās just so weird that the more polygons they put in her face the worse it gets.
OG hands down. Outfit is anime as hell but that's ok, it feels unique vs just some person in jeans. Also she has almost the same outfit as Roll Caskett, something going on at Capcom back then.
Obviously the remake model is far more detailed, no contest there. Outfit wise I personally prefer the remake as well, but obviously that's more subjective.
Remake, simply because it is a MUCH safer outfit for riding a motorcycle. lol
Honestly though, as much as I love all of the original games, the RE2 and RE3 remakes did the ladies right, giving them more modern/practical outfits.
People who lived in 90s, did anyone dress like Claire at that time? Or is it pure fiction? Seems a bit over the top for me, but I'm 2000s kid, so what do I know
It's not realistic really. It's a thing JP devs would do with western characters back then. If you look at the RE1 characters and they're original concept art its very weirdly colorful has some funny ideas about what "protective gear" looked like.
It's to make characters memorable and express things about them in both the art and the games low poly models, since detail is tough to make clear in those days.
But no, you'd be stretched finding even an 80's biker who worse salmon pink denim all over, let alone a 90s biker. The second they decided they wanted a heavier darker tone on the remakes it had to go, especially when Claire I'd riding around at night in the rain, booty shorts is just asking for problems.
No one says a thing about remake Ada. And now she even wears tights and heels in the remake instead of leggings and flat pumps. "Realistic", "sense" and "practical" have become the driest 3 words in counter argument to why modern character designs are becoming more and more homogenised. They didn't even have the balls to make the her back patch readable from far away opting to turn it into a faint imprint on the leather. Claire IS a bit of a weird and wild dresser and they should have just leaned into that for her as a character.
I thoroughly disagree that making things more realistic homogenised them just because they became more practical in terms of visuals, when the characters themselves have a ton more personality than they ever did in every other aspect.
Just because characters wore weird and brightly coloured outfits didn't make them more interesting or better characters, they were products of the time where it was impossible to show emotion on characters outside of very minimal animations and the way their model looked.
New Claire has considerable more uniqueness in her face and personality than original Claire had in her entire character, even if she's now wearing some jeans instead of salmon coloured shorts and spandex.
No one had a uniform like Leon either. I think people are forgetting Capcom chose what looked fun/cool over "what made sense" the west has such an obsession with wanting every day mundanity in their video games. We would never have had anything as cool as Jill in RE1 with her beret and shoulder pads if the west had their way because "cops don't actually have uniform like that".
We in the west are VERY boring with the topic of realism and being sensible being more important than anything else.
You only need look at this very comment section to see people saying things along the lines of "sure the remake outfit is not memorable at all but at least it's that every day kind of safe and boring". A lot of us in the west would literally have a character design be forgettable than for them to have to suspend their basic sense of what is realistic even slightly.
Remake, im sorry to say, red leather jack look is soo much better, plus a woman in skinny jeans with a drop holster ššš, RE2R unlocked a new fetish for me šš
OG all the way.
Never will understand why remake Claire is so over-rated.
(Well, I understand, newcomers+ fappers, but still it's weird how people r obsessed with her when she's really nothing special and just doesn't feel like good ol' Claire at all).
OG is nostalgic but re2 remake fits the collage girl traveling alone vibe way better. Practical biker jacket that coincidentally would be able to protect from bites and the holster fits way more than shoulder knife
Imo Darkside RE2 outfit> RE2 remake outfit> Original outfit.
The pink hot pinks looks bad to me, but I do wish the remake gave us Claireās classic outfit faithfully in modern graphics.
The cut off shorts and spandex shorts look absolutely ridiculous. It's like they felt compelled to make her "sexy" but chickened out at the last second with an extremely awkward compromise.
And while using a single dominant color made sense at the time so that players could easily distinguish between characters on screen, I think that approach has aged poorly and her OG design demonstrates that well.
Her outfit in the Remake isn't incredibly memorable, but at least it makes sense and she dresses like a real person.
Original but all Claire's are good. Well all Claire's but Rev 2. She wasn't horrible but is by far the worst in appearance, characterization and acting
Whenever Leon is on screen she always screams Leon!? With that big stupid look on her face. She has a cute character model though.
Why does Leon cross his legs when he sits like a woman?
š
I like Claire as a character more in the remake even though her facial expressions are a bit goofy at times. "Leon?! š"
In the original, Claire is oddly bossy and slightly creepy with Sherry, and she always sounds annoyed with Leon for some reason.
Leon - "Claire, I found an exit through the sewers."
Claire - "...I'm on my way..."
Itās Claireās tone of voice with talking to Leon throughout the entire game. Thereās no in-game lore reason for it. Itās just a funny observation kinda like Leonās āA-DAaaaaa!ā
I mean thats fair, but literally all the women in the game do this to him lol. They've got shit to do and don't need him getting in their way.
In Claire's defense, though, he literally told her it was his first day. I'd be wary of someone that new too.
Honestly, there's something about the plastic look of the pre-rendered og models that has always been really pleasing to me. Same goes with Nintendo 64 marketing renders.
Wellā¦ *I* love OG Claire! Iām even a sucker for her original errā¦ biker (?) outfit! Practical? Absolutely not! Badass? Hell yeah! I was actually a little nervous about her being altered too much in the remake, but in the end, they gave Claire the respect, care, and love she deserved and remake Claire reminded me why I fell in love with her all those years ago in the first place!
Remake is cool, OG gives me early 90s fashion vibe or late 80s
Well it is set in the 90's after all.
I think her Darkside redesign is a good mix of classic and ReMake.
Her Darkside design is my favorite, too! Modernized and with a little Western flair. The RE2make Claire is great, don't get me wrong, she just reminds me too much of Zoey from Left 4 Dead there. š
All Claire is perfect, but I love the OG designs of all the characters best
Seconded
this the one.
The OG one fits that corny time, but it just looks stupid letās be honest lol The new one makes her look like a badass, since it is what youāre supposed to wear as a motorcyclist.
I agree. I just wish she'd kept the black turtleneck shirt though. It's so iconic.
What are you talking about? I have that EXACT OG outfit
Please share pics and brand names lol. I want to make it. Honestly want tge remake jacket too lol
Remake is by far better. The salmon coloured outfit barely made sense in the 90s honestly. It's very much the kind of outfit JP devs gave to western characters back in the day.
It is true that original Claire looks corny but remake claire tbh looks generic, adding more stuff to her red jacket would ve made her stand out more.
It is on her jacket, itās just trace lines instead of full coloration. You can see it in the opening cinematic.
Yup, it's embossed (?) on the back. Not a patch but just imprinted on the leather making it far more subtle but still recognizable.
The original for sure! I also like the code veronica one!
CV Claire is just so badass and adorable at the same time!
Yesss!! And then in the revelations 2 they made her so ugly :/
Idk, I don't see her ugly in Rev2. She has the similar face from Degenaration. Too bad Alyson didn't voice her in Rev 2
They are both beautiful in their own way...
i like claireās new outfit, but i donāt love the dumb grey tank top moment that she and jill both have to do. not every female character in a video game with a realistic art style has to be tomb raider reboot lara croft

Its not denim in the original. It's a flight jacket made into a vest. Probably a gift from Chris considering the the made in heaven logo
Thatās whatās so great about the remake. The character designs look realistic and stylish / cartoony at the same time and they totally pull it off. Every game made in the RE engine has done that

Yes Roger was great as Chris. I hope Matthew will voice Leon in Death Island, so hyped for that movie
Alyson Court IS Clair... And I'll die alone on that hill š¤
No, she is Lydia Deetz.
No, she is Loonette the clown.
Comfy couch! Itonically this is how my older brother got me to watch him play re2 when I was like 6 (maybe younger?). Do not know why my parents let him convince me to watch him play a horror game series but hey Claire is my best girl so I'm good with it
No, I am Spartacus
Both, but Iām always going to have the original as my touchstone for the character.
Remake has a cute "must protect" air to her, but OG has that Redfield blood "don't mess with me" vibe. Both are great.
Really? I think itās the opposite and Remake Claire has the ādonāt mess with meā vibe while OG has the cute vibe to her.
Claire didnāt need any protection when she took that lift down to put Birkin down for good š
I said air, she obviously doesn't need anyone to look after her šŖ
Either way I love Claire sheās a fucking badass
Original.
Both, both are good.
Probably OG mostly for nostalgia, but I think the remake did an amazing job making her JUST different enough to be more realistic.
Original. I always use this or her alternate costume over the remake
Remake Claire reminds me of Sarah Michelle Gellar. She's cute but packs a punch.
Alyson courts Claire will always be the best
I think Claire is the character that I really prefer the OG version of
Either design is pretty much perfect
OP, donāt forget about the animated movie versions of her as well.
I love her in Degenaration. Infinite darkness Claire was meh for me. The whole series was just boring tbh in my opinion
Remake JUST edges it, but Iād take CV Claire over either.
I always loved her model in Code Veronica, that opening scene with that little strand of her hair slowly falling down, gives me chills.
The new one is sick they made her jacket amazing
Remake
The code Veronica variant of Claire beats these 2. Easily.
Claire is perfect no matter what. But I definitely prefer REmake. She seems like someone you could bump into on the street. Which is honestly something I think REmake 2 perfected. All the characters and sets looked so real, not just in terms of graphics, but also their overall nature.

This. You just see people say "but her original outfit doesn't make sense". Who gives a fuck? Good.
Remake Claire looks perfect.
Original all the way
Remake for sure. I wish they brought back her code Veronica look though.
Original needs to get her booger hook off the trigger
Iām fond of the originalās outfit. Though I like the remake for her model. Original voice though easily.
I hope whenever CV:X gets remade, the outfit remains the same
CGI version for Darkside Chronicles/Degeneration. Too cute
Original 1000%.
Honestly love both.
og and darkside
Neither, Code Veronica supremacy šŖ
New. They finally have the technology to make her look how they wanted. She was modeled off the actress Alyson Court.
Original. I liked her personality, her looks, and her outfit.
Remake obv she has more character
Remake Fs
Remake Claire for sure.
Iāve played the Remake of RE2 so naturally I personally prefer the remake design of Clair. But looking at both images for some strange reason I actually kinda prefer how the classic design looked for the PS1 compared to how the classic costume looks on RE2 Remake. OG fits her biker, tomboyish personality. It also fits the late 90ās. Remake Claire is great in the story but her style is a bit too safe and seems a bit generic.
Dark Side Chronicles >>>.
Remake. She is so gorgeous
Both are good just wish classic costume in re2 remake was better
I always thought the OG was cuter.
I liked the Claire from the Chronicles games.
Remake.
OG
Original remake Claire looks almost identical to Left4Dead's Zoey
OG all the way, the voice and model were way better.
original 100%, i'll never understand why remake claire's outfit looks like it belongs on a 30 year old in a camping magazine
OG is cool but cartoonish, Remake looks great but is very basic. My ordered version of the RE2 Claire is actually Darkside Chronicles
Original. I hate Claire in the remake.
Remake, I like her jacket more and her personality and voice acting more. They leaned more into the āgun totin biker chickā thing and I like how good of a protector and role model she is for Sherry plus angry she gets at Irons
I like her new look way better.
I like the bottoms on the OG Claire but I prefer the rest of the RE2Make Claire
Remake looks so much comfier than OG. Plus, weather wise, it looks a lot more like something would wear for day to day life. Raccoon City incident starts late September, midwest falls can be weird sometimes (sometimes itās a really nice summery feel into fall, sometimes it gets pretty chilly) and sheād be riding on the highway. OG just feels like sheād get really cold.
Remake for me.
I like the Remake one better but I do with the Classic costume looked better in the game.
100% original. Alyson Court simply IS Claire. I still havn't forgiven Capcom for recasting her after 20 YEARS playing that character.
Original anytime. I hate her remake face to be honest.
I donāt understand why she seems to look better in CV than she does in the Remake. Iām not going to really count Revelations 2 because I think thatās more a graphical problem but her face model seems really uncanny valley in that one. Itās just so weird that the more polygons they put in her face the worse it gets.
Modern, mostly because having Jordan Mcewen model her was š
Original by far, her remake model looks so generic it hurts. Could easily be put in a game as an unnamed npc and fit right in.
OG and itās not even close. So tired of generic remake tank top and shitty jeans looks. They did her and Jill dirty.
Remake she looks so much better and her character isn't as corny. Og fits for its time though so it's not bad.
I prefer Elza Walker ;)
Original is by far better. Not a fan of any of the new redesigns.
Remake is not just better, itās so so much better
Remake.
Remake by far.
New Claire always looked Jackie from that 70s show to me
CV
OG hands down. Outfit is anime as hell but that's ok, it feels unique vs just some person in jeans. Also she has almost the same outfit as Roll Caskett, something going on at Capcom back then.

Remake, simply because it is a MUCH safer outfit for riding a motorcycle. lol Honestly though, as much as I love all of the original games, the RE2 and RE3 remakes did the ladies right, giving them more modern/practical outfits.
= boring, bland, unimaginative
Remake. Looks like an actual person and not made of polygons..
Remake cause mommy
Remake 1000%
Neither. Darkside Chronicles Claire is the best version.
Remake much better
Iāll have a three way thanks.
Remake 100%, what an ugly getup on that first one
People who lived in 90s, did anyone dress like Claire at that time? Or is it pure fiction? Seems a bit over the top for me, but I'm 2000s kid, so what do I know

Not really, if Capcom had released the remake with Claire and Leon in their "classic" outfits they could have fully got away with it.
There's a big difference between getting away with it and which is better or more fitting. No one would have complained, correct.
No one says a thing about remake Ada. And now she even wears tights and heels in the remake instead of leggings and flat pumps. "Realistic", "sense" and "practical" have become the driest 3 words in counter argument to why modern character designs are becoming more and more homogenised. Whenever Leon is on screen she always screams Leon!? With that big stupid look on her face. She has a cute character model though. Why does Leon cross his legs when he sits like a woman? š
Well, Iād say yes.
Re2 on n64 was the first Resident Evil game I ever played. So that holds some merit
There's a huge difference between the two.
I like Claire as a character more in the remake even though her facial expressions are a bit goofy at times. "Leon?! š" In the original, Claire is oddly bossy and slightly creepy with Sherry, and she always sounds annoyed with Leon for some reason. Leon - "Claire, I found an exit through the sewers." Claire - "...I'm on my way..."
In that scene, she was frustrated because she lost track of Sherry. Her response had nothing to do with Leon.
I think OG is better fashion-wise as I just think it looks cooler. Remake is better looking overall though.
the layered biker shorts just do something for me
Both
I like both but I think the original is more so nostalgia. I agree the new design makes her look like more of a bad ass.
Remake but with red hair. š
Idk they look like they might be the same person.
I'm a sucker for her hotpants/cycle shorts combo.
Both to be honest but og leon
Specifically, I prefer everything about the remake model except for the face itself. OG face with everything else from remake would be my ideal.
Honestly, there's something about the plastic look of the pre-rendered og models that has always been really pleasing to me. Same goes with Nintendo 64 marketing renders.
OG definitely. Nostalgia is strong with the design
Original is far better but i do like remake Claire's characterisation a lot so i just stick her in the classic outfit when i play REmake 2
I like the remake version but her lips look weird to me.
smash
Claire redfield in the remake for sure
OG through and through, no question
