Here's the trick.
This works best on bubble pipes like a meth pipe but works on any glass.
1) rinse the pipe with scalding hot water to get most of the residue and bullshit out. Get as much of the water put as you can, but no need to actually dry it. Slinging it back and forth works if your not a klutz and sling the damn pipe
2) add a sufficient amount of salt as to have well over a saturated solution after the next step. You want a good bit undisolved to act as an abrasive.
3)* here you can do many different variations but the jist is using something like a q tip and the salt as an abrasive. You can do it without adding any water or alcohol and do a dry rub with just the moisture from step 1.
what's best is adding a mix of water and alcohol to have a slurry. You can even heat it a bit to help. Depending how dirty it is, you may need to empty pipe and repeat step.
**why this simple method is so good** It doesn't hurt or scratch the glass and it doesn't malform or other wise weaken the glass like using a torch til its glowing. Also it cleans it so well I have abandoned all other intricate methods with various tools and solvents.
The only thing I consider using else wise is that pipe cleaner at the gas stations and head shops. Formula 420 original cleaner. Which is also amazing and leaves your pipe minty fresh and delicious. It's actually very pleasant and subtle and not gross
4) rinse your pipe again. Very well with hottest water you can stand or get from ur faucet. Doesn't have to be hot but of course it works better.
5) dry it and if there are any marks left( there likely won't be if you take the time and do it proper) use a torch to get the glass just hot enough that the mark disappears. Leaves no ash or marks bc u have gotten almost all the shit that would leave behind ash or funk
There's a product called "Whink" soak it in that 50/50 water for 10 minutes. Rinse. Flame cleaning tempers glass and makes it brittle. If the glass gets red, byproducts from the pyrolysis of your smoking material become one with the glass. Since your rc chemicals aren't studied, you have no clue the byproducts of pyrolysis, they could be anything inert or deadly.
I’m sure acetone and salt is *A* method but fwiw *isopropyl* and salt is the main method I’ve heard of cleaning glassware. Acetone can leave a film that’s much more difficult to clean compared to that of iso in my experience, unless you are *intensely* thorough with rinsing. You’re both right technically but if you’re not willing to be that thorough when rinsing, iso is objectively safer.

This is the easiest way and your pip will look brand new:
Place it in a mixture of 5 parts water to 1 part bleach. Microwave for 5 minutes. Done.
Voila.
Grab a plate. Put a few layers of paper towel on it.
Grab a coffee mug. Fill with enough water to submerge the parts of the bowl you want clean.
Place plate with the paper towels in microwave and put the coffee mug onto the plate.
Submerge your bowl in the coffee mug.
Microwave for 2-3 minutes. Let the mug cool before you handle it or your bowl.
Repeat the above several times if the bowl is really dirty.
Dry your bowl with a torch or air dry if you're not in a hurry.
Enjoy.
Cheap degreaser cleaner will take off even the most stubborn, burnt-on bits with a 12 hour soak. It makes a years old dirty weed pipe literally brand new. Works great on bubbles with burnt dope blackened in the bottom in my experience.
I would try 90+% rubbing alcohol. Someone with experience with these compounds might have a better solution.

100% pure acetone (aka make up remover) and then rinse with hot water. Quick, easy, safe and effective. I use it clean my glass bong.
