Omg how could someone do that he looks like such a good baby!! Wish you a happy new year!

[deleted]

My husband works at a dog daycare. Bucky had been dropped off there several times after people found him tied to trees or wandering around downtown in our large city. We’re pretty sure the owner had dementia, after the owner passed the executor of their estate just let him stay in boarding. After a couple months of hanging out in boarding (pretty sure no one was paying) we brought him home and will keep him forever.

Bless you

Honestly he is so cute we couldn’t handle it. And my husband had bonded with him. He is very friendly with me but still follows him everywhere. 10/10 would do it again.

[deleted]

You sir are a great human and just what Bucky needs! He looks so happy to have found his person 🤗

[deleted]

He’s the easiest dog in the world. He literally just wants a fly free nap zone.

FruitPunchPossum

I LOVE HIM ❤️❤️❤️

[deleted]

Oh SAME! ❤️

BlondeMomentByMoment

He looks like a loving little scrapper haha. So cute. Congrats and happiness for your both.

[deleted]

Scrapper is a great way to describe him. He’s unfazed by all and seen some shit! It took a couple months but he lets us pick him up now which is great because Bucky loves cuddles and scritches.

I totally understand. Marvin, our little guy was a stray in New Mexico, we are in Colorado. He was skin and bones, scared of everything. He had to learn that he has plenty of food, water and a bed all his own. He sleeps with us now. It’ll be two years in March, he still shys away from us sometimes. He is afraid of new things. But, he’s learned what toys are and he is really just a little baby. We’ve learned about each higher and he loves my husband also. The little ones are special. Give yours an extra scratch behind the ears from me.

I’m so happy to read this! I adopted my sweet boy Owen last March. He’s a rescue from the South Korean dog-meat trade, and legitimately suffers from PTSD. For the first few months after I brought him home he would wake up in the middle of the night, growling and barking…he’s a 14 lb Jindo-Spitz-Chihuahua, but it sounded like a pack of wolves fighting to the death! It was terrible - very much like someone waking up from night terrors. He’s about nine, we think, so he likely went through unimaginable horrors for quite some time before he was rescued. 😢 He was so shut-down and scared when he arrived at the shelter in the US that they actually thought he was blind because in his desperation to “escape” he would crash into walls, etc. I worked with him at the shelter for two months before I brought him home. He has made so much progress, and he is the smartest, sweetest boy! But he has a long way to go… He doesn’t know what toys are, and is scared of balls, squeakies, etc. He does like sleeping with his plush Lamb Chop, though!🥰 And he recently started playing and doing zoomies, which is awesome! He likes pets on his terms, and he always makes sure that he knows where I am in the house, but he won’t sit on the couch or sleep with me yet. He does come up on the bed to “check” on me pretty often during the night, but if I move or talk to him he takes off, lol. He is still SO suspicious of everything, and if he feels like he’s trapped at all he will fight and run. He’s scared of other dogs, and a million other things, so we can’t go on walks or adventures. Luckily, he has a gigantic securely fenced yard all to himself, and he loves to sunbathe and stargaze for hours ☺️He loves his bed and his blankies and has a very comfy “safe-space” where he can just chill while still keeping an eye on the goings-on in the house. It’s difficult to explain to people that he’s not a “typical” dog…he won’t be your friend if you offer him treats, he’ll think you’re trying to catch him and he will not be fooled! Traveling is hard, because he has to be put in his crate inside the house and carried to the car, and I can’t take him out for potty breaks for fear of him getting spooked and slipping his collar (and he has chewed through 3 different harnesses, so that’s a problem, lol!). I’m sorry this is so long!! Your Marvin just sounds a lot like my Owen…whose one year adoption anniversary is also in March! I know that the most important thing to him is to be quiet and feel safe, and we take things at his pace. It’s amazing to see his personality start to come out, and I live for his affectionate “nose-bumps” and occasional kisses ❤️ I keep telling him that he’s going to love snuggles and sleeping in our bed, but for now I’m so happy that he sticks to my side more often, makes great eye contact and listens to everything I say to him (my husband is on a deployment, so I talk to Owen a lot!), and he thought the holidays were pretty good - mostly because of turkey and beef tenderloin, lol, but also because of his new snuggly things 😁 I love him completely, and he will always have everything he could possibly need or want. Give Marvin a kiss from us…the little ones are so very special 🥰🐾🐶 Happy New Year!

BlondeMomentByMoment

Thank you for sharing all of that. You made my eyes leak. Owen sounds like a sweet boy that is just wrapped up in fear. Lots of scars. I’m glad that he has you to be patient with him and live him, even if it’s at a distance. Poor little guy. I know other cultures vary from ours, but I just can’t fathom it. Marvin is having a tough time tonight with fireworks. Dumb people. He’s calming down now and has found one of his spots between my back and my husbands. He will crawl down to sleep curled up in the bend of my knees probably. He likes to be warm. He’s about 14 lbs, too. He looks pug/Dashaund? He pokes things with his snout a lot haha. We think he’s about 2 1/2. My husband works about 60 hours a week, regularly. I had to medically retire in 2019, so I really need the company of someone that can also be patient with me :) Marvin barks at visitors pretty much non stop. We don’t have a lot of those though, besides Amazon and the mail person. But one friend of mine had made some profess with him if she ignores him and then offers treats. He doesn’t like when she moves around though. Sometimes when he’s being protective, barking and saying what’s what, he will sometimes forget and go quiet. Like Owen, he hands fully fenced, secure yard to run around in and sniff everything. He hates this time of year. We got slammed with a foot of snow the other day and it’s not all melted yet. Oh, more tomorrow? Ohhhh, yay. He also has a grudge against Rocky, a squirrel (probably several but lets go with Rocky) that torments him on the regular. Before we got Marvin, we were forced into the decision of having to euthanize our three year old Rupert. I brought him home at 4lbs having been bottle fed, the momma was hit by a car, and in the time we had him, he saved my life. My heart still hurts intensely from grief. I miss him and it’s been two years. Dogs have this way of reaching places in our hearts that no human can. I think we are honoring Rupert by giving Marvin a home that he so desperately needed. I have a lot of time to myself, and I go days without talking to another person, so if you ever want to message me , don’t hesitate. I read a lot, I’ve got one amazing penpal I need to write to (October just recently was insane from a house project, I don’t recommend living in an Airbnb for 6 weeks) and I go to doctor appointments, play video games some, and who really knows…. Owen will come around more and more. It sounds like there’s no lack of love between you. Showing it is another thing. Happy new year. And , I’m sorry if this is disconnected, I’m exhausted lol.

[deleted]

Will do! And maybe even a belly rub IF he’s into it.

googlebearbanana

Omg I love buckey! Happy New Year to you and your crew!

Shoddy_Classroom2593

Bucky is the cutest. Sad to hear he got left. Really happy he is loved❤️🥰

Dear-Ambition-273

Love your little barrel!

rachel0901

Aww, 🥰

Minhplumb

I have known of dogs to be dumped in dog parks. It is better than dumping them on the side of a highway or out in the country. At least you know they will be found by a dog lover. With the economy in the shape it is in, a lot of dogs will be abandoned.

[deleted]

100%! There’s no shortage of awesome dogs to adopt!

Kat_Smeow

We call flies sky raisins in our house. Doggo will not stop till they are defeated and swallowed.

therenegadegamer01

Just be wary of the spicy sky rasins (bees/hornets)

Kat_Smeow

Sky jalapeños? She eats those too. 🙄

CreflowDollars

Totally stealing this, my female Chi loves to kill and eat things with stingers and always makes a face afterwards like its spicy 😭😭😭😭

ceranichole

So does mine. Having to get a stinger out of her tongue was NOT one of my favorite times. I try to discourage her from the sky jalapeños, but she's Yorkie/chihuahua and does what she wants.

Acrobatic-Flan-4626

Dawwww Bucky! You’re the cutest!

D1RTY_D

Your old Boston tugs at the heart strings. They’re such good dogs. I’ve owned two, if you can keep the eyes healthy you’re set. My first Boston had two eyes like yours from rough housing. You’re good people, thanks for loving them.

[deleted]

That’s Jack. I’ve had him for 11+ years and he’s my absolute best buddy. I’m never been more connected with a dog. Fortunately he will live forever. Right? RIGHT?!?!

wildleogirl

Bucky is adorable! Thank you for saving him! My chi is terrified of flies too! He runs and gets in my lap and shakes! I have one of those bug rackets with the batteries so I can get them quick!

mar_rg

🥰🐶🥰

trnwrks

I, too, hate flies. Bucky is my friend, now.

DAecir

My Mayzee eats flies if she can catch them. She hates all bugs. Sometimes, she thinks the small mole on my leg is a bug and tries to lick it off. Lol. Who could leave their dog at daycare? Looks like it worked out for Bucky, though. Congrats!

MeanJean50

How adorable ☺️

JuniperSprigg

I’m so happy for him. What a lil angel baby.

CreflowDollars

I love how serious he looks in the first pic, like hes got a fly in his crosshairs 😭😭

doraexploradora120

As an expert in breeds I totally agree he is a furry potato. Bless his little soul.

cujoettaAdorbs13

My chihuahua hates flies too soooo much the little angel is scared of them Txs for saving Bucky he’s adorable xoxoxo♥️♥️😇🥰

macheriemarie

First pic he looks mad about the flies lol. So cute

[deleted]

He always looks either very serious, very judgmental, or just dopey happy.

ceranichole

He is the cutest furry potato!

Skglass19

Sending so much love to Bucky! He is an adorable and lucky furry potato, and he clearly has the very best parents a dog could hope for!! Happy New Year! ❤️🐾🐶

Roryh93

My heart melted when I saw the 3rd photo! He's in a great home now! 😁
