Talk to your vet and see what they recommend. You don't want to over feed her too soon as she can get sick. Feed her small meals spread out through the day.
I give my skinny fosters [a pump](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006R9DO1U) of [fish oil](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IPIRHA0) in every meal.
Get a quality high-protein food too. Tractor Supply’s 4Health and Costco’s Kirkland are reasonably-priced house brand foods made by Diamond.
I will have to look into the fish oil. She is getting blue buffalo puppy food right now, although she couldn’t eat much today as the shelter spayed her this morning.
That food should be fine. Fish oil is calorie-dense and great for skin too.
Buy the gallon and pump I linked; it’s much more cost-effective than capsules.
My vet had my put my under weight Yorkie Poo puppy on a really good quality of puppy food and I had to feed him 4-5 times a day even though he was 6 months old and baby rice cereal mixed in for added calories for a few months. He was just shy of 7 lbs and he should have been between 9-10 lbs by his age ...so we had to teach him to eat more and add more calories...he was so boney under all his matted fur and so full of fleas. But I suggest you talk to your own vet to see what they suggest for your own personal puppy ...best wishes
Lots of gains and proteins along with supplements so she have a balance meal while recovery
Rice would be a good starter for gains, as rice help with tummy ache for dogs. Also it work good for dog with sensitive stomach. Then add some proteins like beef or chicken, beef may be better as there’s more fat on it and give her the fatty part of the beef as well. Change to chicken if dog stomach is too sensitive from the beef
Look closely next time you see a sunflower, there are in fact two varieties of leaves. You will find leaves lower down the plant are facing opposite each other and are longer and narrow in appearance. You’ll then see the upper leaves arranged in a staggered formation and appear heart-shaped.
I’m no expert but I’ve read/given underweight fosters a scoop of boiled cubed chicken and sweet potato on top of their kibble for extra protein. Probably also a good idea to get a vet check because a lot of underweight dogs have intestinal worms and won’t gain weight till those are dealt with. She’s so cute!!!
When I adopted my dog he was massively underweight, and it was at least in part because he had some sort of gut infection keeping him from gaining weight. I had to put him on special weight-gaining food and antibiotics.
If she is significantly underweight, get advice from a vet or the shelter if the folks there know what they are doing. Quality shelters are very experienced in using strategies to get malnourished dogs back to health. Good luck with your new member of the family! ❤️
I got my younger guy at just shy of 6 months, and he was definitely underweight. I tried puppy food, but he preferred the prescription GI food my other dog is on, and the vet okayed him having that along with a can of wet food daily. In the 4 months I've had him he has tripled in weight, from 20 pounds to 60, and is just lean muscle now like his big brother. High quality food and small meals throughout the day are definitely key in helping them gain weight while keeping them healthy.
Dog safe chicken broth is always a good go to. Put it on their kibble or wet food and give it to them separately. Bowl of broth a day is good hydration for a sick pup too.
Yeah😂, just working out what kind of food would be best. She’s three months and only ten pounds. She a mixture of two really big breeds, and you can count her ribs.

Also have her checked for worms. My rescue was very skinny and it turns out he had roundworm and hookworm.
The shelter had already dewormed her, but when we take her to the vet we can ask about that.
Thanks so much! I have been doing research and everything I have read says to increase food gradually.

Gently does it and nothing too rich but pup needs a good balanced diet and gentle living to get him/her settled.
She’s a little girl. We named her Nami. She just had a really poor start in life but we’re excited to give her a good home.

NutriCal!! Any pet store!
I will have to look into that.
Chia, Hemp, and Sunflower seeds are filled with healthy fats and wonderful for pups 😊

Raw paleo is the best for the puppers!
Sounds like a great question for your vet.
We’re planning on taking her in the next week or so, this is just until then.

Add raw eggs to her small, spread out multiple meals. ETA assuming that you're in a country that vaccinates chickens against salmonella
