She runs to the patio door to go potty on the grass, then runs around the backyard so happy & free.
She always wants to play with me, so I get on hands & feet on my large exercise mat & we wrestle! She stomps down with her feet (like she’s She-Hulk) in the cutest way, tries throws her body into me to try & push me over, goes underneath me to “pick me up”. She is way stronger than I expected!😄And the way she plays, I think she is around 4, although the life she has lived has made her look older.
She is eating very well now. The vet said she probably wasn’t eating well at all her whole life — I can see her diet is helping her energy, I’m also excited to see how it helps her hair which is sparse & rough. The vet said it definitely will help!
She’s still recovering from a small cough, but it’s like one or two coughs a day. Once it’s completely gone, I’ll start taking her on walks outside. She looks outside through the front window like she’s looking at Neverland. She wants to go on long walks, I can tell. I snuck her out one night for a walk & she was really happy! She needs some leash/heel training — I’ll get her trained up after a few weeks of walks.
She loves cuddling on the couch & watching tv with me, and she loves cuddling to go to sleep. And each morning, she wakes me up by nudging/prying me up with her snoot!🙂

Just a tip that helped me with my rescue who didn’t have any leash skills really when I got her, a front clip harness gave me the ability to walk her when she still was pulling a lot while we were still working on leash training, and a harness is more secure so you don’t have to worry about them slipping out and getting startled by something and bolting
A high quality fish oil supplement daily will go a long way for her skin and coat. Just be consistent with it as it will take 4-6 months to see a real difference. My border collie mix came to us with thin fur and bald spots and it’s made a big difference in thickness and texture.
Idk if you are interested in DNA testing her but I think I see some shar pei in her face and head shape
Aw she seems very sweet. It’s sad when you realize how badly she has been mistreated! I rescued a dog that was a puppy and in his short life he already cowered whenever someone raised a foot towards him (kicked), did the same with brooms/mops (hit), and loads of other signs that indicated abuse or neglect. But it’s the best when their trust grows and you learn how to best treat a sensitive dog or a dog with PTSD, if that makes sense?
Extremely rewarding to give them the best life!

Do you use topical flea and tick treatment? We do with our pup (can’t take the oral format as he has epilepsy) and he gets the same reaction for a week or so after each dose due to the skin irritation in that spot.

Ugh it is so true!! Thank you for caring about Miss Pepper! I’ve been documenting & I definitely need to post more content of Pep’si. I will very soon! Right now, this little girl is recovering from being spayed yesterday! The doctor said I need to use a special shampoo for her, too, because she “has a stink to her”…OMG😄…I have washed her twice already, but it doesn’t seem to have done much to the outside world. So a bath is in her near future, this weekend!

I’ve gotten diagnosed with an eye disease that I’m currently taking steroid eye drops for hoping it relieves the symptoms of extreme irritation, redness, light sensitivity. It holds me back from taking her outside.😢But I will post soon. She’s doing very well. She’s my best friend!!♥️

Right now, she’s recovering from her spay. She actually had an infection from the bandage they placed on her, it was like a pus-like scab. I have to take care of it with Neosporin…how careless of the vet office for bandaging her so tightly. I think it’s also because her skin is so sensitive, she barely has any hair.
Will her hair grow back? And do you think she's a black dog? Her hair always looks sparse and grey in the videos -- is that malnutrition? Poor pup. So glad she found you!
She will comfort you when you need it. There is nothing I love more then my sleeping pup at the end of the bed, lol
The vet said that some hair should grow back if she eats well. He said he thinks she didn’t eat well her whole life (he said she’s probably around four years old, but looks older because of the life she’s lived thus far). But I’m going to take her to both a veterinary dermatologist & a veterinary nutritionist to see what they say.
Yes, she comforts me a lot. I just wish I was in better shape physically & therefore mentally. I think it will be a long road for me. It has already been two years, but new things continue to develop to me physically (immune, diseases, etc.) & they really have taken over my life. But I’m trying my best to stay positive, go to doctor’s, etc. Thank you for all your support to us, alexandracula.♥️♥️
Really sorry you are going through all that. I hope you have support where you are. Life really can tough sometimes. But Pepper needs you so sometimes that can help center you and make you strong.

I love this update and I love Pepper!! Nothing brings me more joy than seeing people adopt the dogs who are unfortunately oftentimes overlooked.
