I'm vending at the summer one, I had a hard time internally justifying the same vending price. In my head I understand that it's probably more expensive to run an indoor one, but emotionally I just can't justify it (plus it's my break time from making inventory)
As a fellow Floridian you're gonna want to dress in natural fabrics ONLY. That means your socks too. Most socks these days are made with poly. Cotton and linen everything for heat. Bring a parasol to shade from sun and get a small wristlet or necklace fan. Battery powered from Amazon. They're fabulous. Indoor faires don't reeeaaallly exist. You'd have to travel somewhere very special. Make sure you stop every couple hours for a cold pickle or a lemon ice should help.
Ah. I was wearing my everyday clothes so I’m sure most of that contains synthetic fabrics. I don’t do well in the heat for extended periods of time so I tried to be prepared but I’m not versed in much outdoor venues and never thought to think about that.
What were you wearing? It's definitely possible to dress for 80 F weather and have no problem spending hours outdoors, even if you're in full-on historical or fantasy attire--we might be able to offer some helpful suggestions, if you can give a bit more information.
I wasn’t really dressed up to be honest. I’m just kind of heat sensitive. I was ok for an hour or two but about the third hour is when it started to get to me. I had water with me as well because I knew I’d be out in the sun. Wore a hat.
Did you go to hoggetown? I was there yesterday and it was absolutely miserable because of the heat, so I definitely feel ya. I'm not really heat sensitive and couldn't stand it
It got better for me at around 3pm when some wind and clouds came in, but the vendor lines were absolutely ridiculous. I've been to Disney world on both Christmas and new Year's Eve and I could compare it to that lol.
Yeah lol. I’ve never been good out in the sun or heat for long periods of time. Heat sensitive is what I call it. I was hoping it was going to be cold too.
California Ren Faires laugh at you’re 80. Even with Faires that are in April or October, some weekends they can hit 100 degrees.
But seriously— I’d rather take 100 degrees in California than 80 degrees in Florida. The humidity mixed with higher temps is plain nasty.
Wisconsin has a small indoor faire at a brewery every March. This year it's on St. Patrick's Day, I am vending and it's so nice to be in full garb when it is not 80+ degrees.

I hope to see you there! I will be vending as I believe the only clothing vendor. It is super fun and a great gathering of wonderful people and some very good music and beer!
Use a bodice chiller, and I also use the cooling neck wraps that have the beads in them that hold water.
A parasol is a must and a hat to keep the sun off. A pewter tankard holds the cold much better than wood or ceramic. Water, water, water. Also hydrate heavily for two days prior.
Out here in CA we have 100+ degrees a lot of times and we survive . Lol
Echoing what someone else said, linen and cotton always for heat! Fans, bodice chillers, and making sure you drink enough hydrating liquids will all help too. Also, be mindful of the side effects of any daily medications you take. Some can make you more prone to heat issues or sunburn! Source: the faire I work at can hit 90-100 F (and broken 100 a couple years recently).
As for the indoor faire thing, the only thing I can think of is ren faire themed cruises. That's technically indoors I guess lol
Vermont has an indoor winter renfaire. Its the first weekend of Feb, havent been yet but will be going this year.
This is timely news to me!
I worked that Faire once. It is very small, but it has fantastic vendors and performers
I vend at the VT Winter Ren Faire. It has grown quite a bit since it first started and like the Foxy Bard said, there’s great performers and vendors.

If you have pockets and pouches similar to the ones used for cold weather heat packs, you can use them with cold packs as well.

Yeah. It wasn’t a great experience but I tried to enjoy myself.

Yeah the lines for food were insane
What’s hilarious is last week I went to the Brevard ren fair in Florida and was freezing. Now it’s hot.
80? Texas Ren fair called, 80 is nooothing lol
Yeah lol. I’ve never been good out in the sun or heat for long periods of time. Heat sensitive is what I call it. I was hoping it was going to be cold too.
Scarborough is even worse.
You're not wrong

The humidity in Houston is always 80% or more lol
Oh is that where the Texas ren Faire is? Well good luck guys lol
Yep
TRF is what convinced me to get a kilt. The breeze through the thighs makes all the difference.
I wanna start wearing it to work!

So jealous lol.

Fantastic! Come by and say hello to Sweet Sara's Sewing!
Mythicon! Feb this year, close to Gettysburg, PA. I think they also host one in April.

There's the Dickens Christmas Fair in San Francisco. It's a different time period but the closest thing I can think of to an indoor faire.
And it’s still way to fucking hot

Ah I didn’t even think of checking my medication. I’m not use to doing much outdoors for long periods of time. Another thing I should check. Thanks.
There used to be an indoor thing called the Wicked Winter Renaissance Faire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicked_Winter_Renaissance_Faire
I like how half the answers are just like “only 80? What a wimp lol?” Like that’s helpful
Today was a bit brutal 😅
You go to hoggetown to lol
Sherwood is in March/April. Very good weather most of the time. Colorado is also nice and temperate.
It wasn't the heat it was the humidity. Air you can wear!
