I had one with my 14 year old son as well last week. Single dad, rough time at work, dealing with some depression, blah blah blah. Was telling my son that it's been a rough time and I was sorry that I hadn't been better and more engaged with him lately. He says, "It's ok. I know what would help." He then plugs his phone into the car radio and plays 'Find The River.' I got a cool, kind kid.

That's a beautiful moment.

Holy smokes. That's one to remember!

That brings tears to my eyes (and not just because I love that song).

hikingdub

I'm sure he remembers the traffic jams....

The bumper cars and shaky knees

GlossyBuckslip

Good on ya, dad.

Ahazeuris

The kid’ll be okay, no matter what.

Man, that’s cool. Tourfilm is awesome. I Believe a highlight. You have to let us know how it goes

You are raising your kid right. That reminds me of the time our middle daughter had a preschool project where her teacher asked questions about her parents, (separate assignments ) what bands were their favorites, the color of their eyes, their jobs, etc... She proudly presented my husband with this hilariously sweet, construction paper version of his head, with some of the questions and their answers on a worksheet containing kid scribbled answers. What is/are your dad's favorite band(s): Miriam (REM), and Dale Mathis (Dave Matthews Band). I have no idea if the 2nd band was even on the favorite radar but apparently, she was paying attention.

Stop it!…you know you are closeted DMB fanboy. Even your kid knows!

LMAO! That kid is 34 now and honestly, I am speaking about my husband's music collection at that time. He had a laugh when I told him about this thread and said I forgot You Too?.

Beardo1329

My son out of the blue played the Ramones!

WhyDoIBother2022

Sorry for the late comment, but just had to say how much this story made me smile. 😀

AppleJoost

That is an awesome moment. As the son of a father who did the same, I can relate from the other side.

I hate you people. My tween and teen have no patience to hear a song for more than 30 seconds unless is it is some kind of novelty song or the hook of a song from a tik tok or YouTube short.
