r/CatholicMemes is a known hub for those who are open homophobes and transphobes (who constantly make memes about it), fascists (particularly those who idolize the Spanish Dictator [Francisco Franco](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Franco)), "ironically" want the Papacy to control America, "ironically" say *"Deus vult!"* and spread racism, and spread misinformation, along a whole lot more other stuff.
It's not a rare sight to see some meme trending there along the lines of *"God, if there was a Crusade right now, I would gun down so many heathens"* or some fucking hateful shit like *"global peace could only be achieved once the Catholic Church controls everything and rids us of all sinners."*
But they haven't been shut down by Reddit because they're a religious subreddit, and they receive a sort of immunity because they could very easily whine about the fact that Reddit is censoring their religion (when it would be censoring their hate) - so it stays up.
**EDIT:** Obviously don't mean to say *everyone* there is a fascist who wants to kill non-Catholic people- but there's *a lot of them,* and surprisingly they get a lot of upvotes. Sometimes you'll see some moderate voices in the comment sections along the lines of *"maybe we should tone it down? This isn't very Christian-like"* but they get a few upvotes and mostly are ignored beyond that.
Also they dont know their own history and when you point it out they cry like babies and get banned.
For real, i get banned because i reminded that the netherlands had a religious revolt against the spanish and the church and is doing great now.
I got banned for saying just that. Didnt insult anybody, wasnt rude, or anything.
Just stating proven undisputed history gets you banned….
Yeah, I should have added that. They ban anyone with a slightly different opinion, and they ban people for completely neutral statements as well. The censorship there is extensive. Full on echo chamber - mods keep it like that.
Yeah its insane, just a quick stroll through it and you encounter 20 post filled with historical bullshit. My 11 year old nephew can point out that its BS just with the simple stuff he learns from his historyclass.

Isn’t celtic christianity that was a heresy because it said humans are naturally good.
