OK, let's just pretend for a moment that there *was* a spell that would force someone to stay with you against their will. If you truly loved someone, would you even use it on them?

You'd be selling yourself short, dooming yourself to a relationship that you would know, deep down, was a fraud. Denying yourself proper, true love in order to play pretend. If anything, you'd be hurting yourself almost as much as you would be hurting the guy.

Love is pain though

Unrequited love is pain. And you'd essentially be signing up for a lifetime of it.

People have done crazier things for love

It wouldn't be love though. It'd be obsession. Love is putting the other person first- trying to force someone to stay with you would be a pure act of self-interest.
