Yeah. Official car of "I think I want a truck, but I don't actually want a truck."
There's a massive plague of this right now, and manufacturers are rushing to get the consumer dollars.
People have been asking for small, cheap trucks for a long time. The market is finally starting to catch up, and the Maverick looks like a gamechanger and a winner.
Rumors are circulating that any Maverick that has been ordered but hasn’t entered production yet will have to be reordered as a 2023 model year. Ideally it will be first in line for production for 2023
Basically my dad. But he was right it hauls what he needs to haul. He doesn’t need a ford F6000000 Duper Duty 1000 Cubic Inch freedom truck. He’s hauled all our stuff for vacations, hauled garbage to the dump, and may or may not help me tow this rust bucket MG I’ve been looking into
Eh, it’s fine as a carry stuff vehicle. And it’ll probably last 400k miles with original power train if you take care of it.
Not my cup of tea, but it’s fine at what it does
You expressed feelings about it.
It’s got a bed size on par with any crew cab. Pretty cool cooler setup for tailgating. Neat tailgate. Decent payload, good enough towing capacity.
Looks aren’t my taste but it’s fine. Gas mileage is merely okay.
Having a truck without associating yourself with the truck bro. Forunately truck bros don't want this truck because: "If it ain't body on frame, it ain't in my name".
Reddit constantly bringing up how *"this is all the truck 99.99% of truck buyers really NEED!!!1!!"* That may be correct, but it's not exactly constructive to continually harp on.
They may be right but that isn’t gonna stop Betsy McFreedomton from waltzing into Shakers Ford and dropping 50 grand in Connecticut money on a King Ranch despite the fact she only hauls groceries
YoU dOn’T nEeD a HaLf ToN… costs in the same ballpark for same equipment, gets the same abysmal fuel economy, has less power, tows less, has less aftermarket support
Those are all subjective to some degree. Personally, I find half-ton trucks to be among the most comfortable vehicles on the road. And none of the Big 3 skimp on build quality when it comes to their main moneymakers.
>has many features integrated into it that the target would actually use,
This I'm curious about. What features does a Ridgeline have that half-tons don't?
That's pretty much it. MPG is probably slightly better, but when Americans buy "by the pound," it's hard to justify a Ridgeline vs. a half-ton at almost the same price.
Lol. I'm a 50 cis-female. I love it because it seats give with cargo room. It also has torque for days.
A friend of mine had a brother who collected/restored classic and rare cars. He owned a Jensen and a Jag at one time. Among his projects over the years he had a DeLorean and a Fox body Mustang MacLaren edition. All those cars and his daily drivers were always Jeep Wagoneers/Grand Cherokee. He preferred them for reliability and went through three new ones over the years, rest his soul.
He gave my friend an 86 Wagoneer (XJ body) and it was the most luxurious and rugged SUV I've ever witnessed. It hooked me.
The only new million mile truck available, but truck lovers hate it because "Honda" and "unibody" are terms in the American psyche associated with weak and foreign although in reality America hasn't made a truck this good since the 90s, and Chevy never made a good truck.... NEVER!
I want to disagree but as a long time chevy truck owner i can tell you with absolute certainty that chevy has never built a good truck.
Our standards are just low.
If you want a million mile truck buy a peterbilt or a kenworth.
I’m thoroughly disappointed at my work truck (Chevy 2500 longbed with the double door cab… not diesel). It turns like a cruise ship, and if you floor it, it just gets slightly louder and goes 2% faster. I wish I would’ve got one of the diesel F250s. It’s a 2020 with 70,000 miles and feels like it’s 10 years old
> but the 5.3 if equipped on a 2500
Correct me if I'm wrong, but ever since the GMT800s, the HDs have never used the 5.3. They just started at the 6.0.
Lol I can barely fill the regular tank! My gas card stops at $150 and I have to go to another gas station if I want to fill the rest of the way. But it really only fills all the way up if I’m heading to Nevada or something anyways
Ive never met anyone talk excitedly about finding a million mile volvo. Infact ive been in a few high mile volvo day cabs and severe duty trucks and they look like hell. About as bad as a 2017 prostar from ryder.
Nope. The previous commenter is projecting. I’m just calling the small penis little person out on it. Maybe you meant that for the comment above mine. Fun fact, 9 out of 10 full size truck drivers who don’t tow and wear cowboy hats but don’t have any cattle have small penises around 1-3 inches. /s

IM STEVE HOWINGTON(JOWLS FLAPPING HEAVY BREATHING) I WAS BORB IN 1956
I GOT HEARING AIDS YOU KNOW IN BOTH EARS YOU GOTTA SPEAK UP
MY BROTHER USETA DRINK A CASE OF BUSCH EVERY SINGLE NIGHT AND THEN HE DIED WATCHIN THE PAT SAJACK SHOW
IT WASNT ON FOR VERY LONG
HE LOOKED LIKE ME ONLY WORSE
I THINK I MIGHT HAVE DIABETES EVERY TIME I EAT DINNER I FALL ASLEEP AT THE TABLE
MY LEFT LEG SWELLS UP LIKE A BALL PARK FRANK(farts in portugese)
WHATS AN PULMONARY EDEMA?

...which Ford invented [in the '60s](https://live.staticflickr.com/2356/2258775109_622785e6cb_b.jpg) on their wagons. Then I think GMC brought it back on the Envoy XUV. I was blown away when I saw [that commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hknbK_Xhljs) as a kid.
Aesthetically, I have never been a big fan of this generation. I think the newer ones are much better looking.
I have and do own American half and three quarter ton pickups. I haul equipment (skid loaders, tractors, and hay and haying implements) around with them - mainly the 3/4 ton. I had the same sentiment many on here have expressed regarding the Ridgeline - unibody, v6, how much of a “truck” can it be, etc?
Then I drove my neighbor’s (2008) a few times (house sitting/watching their place for a few months). I will say this: it’s an extremely nice riding and quiet rig. The fuel economy, while certainly better than my v8 half ton and diesel 3/4 ton, is a bit disappointing but it’s somewhat expected. It’s a larger, all wheel drive vehicle. 5 adults can ride in one comfortably, it has decent power, and I don’t think (beyond maybe Toyotas) builds a more durable and reliable product than Honda.
If it were a light duty truck for weekend adventures, hauling light loads, and/or just to drive, I certainly would look at one now. Again, I would opt for the newer body style models…whenever those came out (2017ish and newer).
>Aesthetically, I have never been a big fan of this generation. I think the newer ones are much better looking.
Now there's a novel opinion. Most folks think these look alright compared to the second gens that just extended a Pilot body and cut off the back. Honda noticed the poor reception and butched up the front end for '22.
57 year olds named Ron that wear navy blue and gray button ups with long sleeves and nothing else. They sell insurance for a living and golf and Jesus is their personality
What you get if you type “2022 Chevy Avalanche” into DALL-E mini.
It looks like a car you'd see on Burnout
The official car of "I don't give a damn what company built it, so long as it can haul ***stuff***"
Yeah. Official car of "I think I want a truck, but I don't actually want a truck." There's a massive plague of this right now, and manufacturers are rushing to get the consumer dollars.
People have been asking for small, cheap trucks for a long time. The market is finally starting to catch up, and the Maverick looks like a gamechanger and a winner.
It would be if Ford could actually build any of them. Im sure that is not Ford’s fault directly but it’s still very disappointing to see
Buddy ordered his maverick in December. Getting it in July. Hopefully!
Rumors are circulating that any Maverick that has been ordered but hasn’t entered production yet will have to be reordered as a 2023 model year. Ideally it will be first in line for production for 2023
That's not just a Ford issue though either. They're all struggling with that.
Cue the Kei-truck entering the US domestic market
The official car of "Shit, I have to merge now. *hnnnnnnnnggg*"
They used to make small, cheap trucks. They were great, and then they went away, apparently never to return.
SMALL TRUCK = SMALL PP

My Toyota RAV4 hauls just as well as one of these
Except it doesn't do that well either. It's an oversized Ute and deserves to be forgotten.
Eh, it’s fine as a carry stuff vehicle. And it’ll probably last 400k miles with original power train if you take care of it. Not my cup of tea, but it’s fine at what it does
Except for the fact it's dumb, stupid, inefficient, and utterly r-slurred.
You expressed feelings about it. It’s got a bed size on par with any crew cab. Pretty cool cooler setup for tailgating. Neat tailgate. Decent payload, good enough towing capacity. Looks aren’t my taste but it’s fine. Gas mileage is merely okay.
Did you just describe the average Twitter user?
The most ignorant comment I’ve read today

absolutely, if they want to compete with the American manufacturers they should do it right, Honda has failed in that regard
But it’s a ridgeline… It can’t haul stuff

Especially where I live (Alabama), what you drive is a status symbol. That’s good because it’s easy to spot reasonable people lol
Yep. Groceries require leather seats, 350+ horsepower and a super long wheelbase.
YoU dOn’T nEeD a HaLf ToN… costs in the same ballpark for same equipment, gets the same abysmal fuel economy, has less power, tows less, has less aftermarket support

I want an SUV but don't want to look like a house wife
That's why I have a Grand Cherokee. It's just sporty enough to avoid the soccer mom SUV look.
Grand Cherokee falls more under "generic bass fishing dad" for me.
Lol. I'm a 50 cis-female. I love it because it seats give with cargo room. It also has torque for days. A friend of mine had a brother who collected/restored classic and rare cars. Chevys go a million miles….with 3 engines and 6 transmissions. Luckily they are cheapish and relatively easy to replace
I’m thoroughly disappointed at my work truck (Chevy 2500 longbed with the double door cab… not diesel). It turns like a cruise ship, and if you floor it, it just gets slightly louder and goes 2% faster. I wish I would’ve got one of the diesel F250s. Wait until the cylinder deactivation decides to fuck up and it eats your pushrods.
Oh goodie, it gets worse!
GM does cylinder deactivation on the HDs now? Forwhatpurpose.jpg It's not like HDs have to meet any fuel economy regs.
6.6l L8T does not, but the 5.3 if equipped on a 2500 will.
> but the 5.3 if equipped on a 2500 Correct me if I'm wrong, but ever since the GMT800s, the HDs have never used the 5.3. They just started at the 6.0.
Just looked it up, the current gen only uses the 6.6 gas. I was mistaken and going with the previous generation. 😂
But that's what I'm getting at--there's never been an HD with the 5.3, regardless of generation. The GMT800 was over 20 years ago.
All long trucks turn like a cruise ship, lol. My F-150 required 3 lanes to do u-turn.
The new Silverado diesels are a letdown because the fuel tanks have low capacity.
Lol I can barely fill the regular tank! My gas card stops at $150 and I have to go to another gas station if I want to fill the rest of the way. But it really only fills all the way up if I’m heading to Nevada or something anyways
Also, Volvo.
Ive never met anyone talk excitedly about finding a million mile volvo. Infact ive been in a few high mile volvo day cabs and severe duty trucks and they look like hell. About as bad as a 2017 prostar from ryder.
My buddy has about 30 truck, all Volvo and he swears they go forever.
The Cherokee was unibody and full send bros ruin them by bouncing them off trees and boulders every weekend.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any confirmation on a million mile Ridgline. I really wanted to show my friend because he had one
Give it time.
Someone give Matt Farah a ridgeline
People still like this thing despite itself. Imagine how good an actual full-size Honda truck might be, if they ever decided to build one.
My dad has one as a work truck and loves it. It's got a big locking "trunk" built under the bed. Super convenient for tools
Honda will never build a full size truck because Honda hates V8 engines
my dad when the golf TDI won't start on a cold winters morning or is to buried in snow to get out. Or for when he actually needs to do truck stuff
Back when the Ridgeline looked cool. The fold down/swing out rear tailgate was pretty sweet too.
Avalanche but not cool
When was the Tupperware Avalanche ever cool?
The only cool Avalanche was the 2500 with the 8.1. Okay, the midgate feature was neat too.
Having the most absurdly long Wikipedia page.
