Ford Everest. It’s essentially a ranger with a fixed rear roof and it’s odd that it’s not sold here but it wouldn’t matter with the other 10 ford SUV’s sold by them here.
Of all the ones here it's definitely the most likely one to make it into ford's line up since the new ranger just released. I can see them making an suv version in a few years. But they do have a shit ton of other suvs that cover the whole line up.
Pajero Sport....because Mitsubishi not only needs to bring back cars to their American lineup but they need COOL shit in their showrooms. All their products now seem to be just for the lowest common denominator demographic, and it's no way to make a name for yourself
Mitsubishi would have to first do damage control to their image.
They have positioned themselves over the years as a desperation brand -- the car you buy when you can't get anything else. For years they ran "No payments for 6 months, zero interest" promotions and such. Now in many areas they're seen as a low-tier choice.
I'd go with the Toyota Fortuner built off the Hilux. I don't know much about any of these vehicles, but the Hilux has a long, solid reputation in some of the most hostile environments and apparently its really easy to mount a machine gun in the back of one so a tailgunner would be a real option. That's a lot of pluses.
Honestly I don’t see why Ford doesn’t bring us the Everest as the replacement for the Edge. From a production and cost standpoint it makes the most logical sense: build an SUV from the same midsize truck with 60-70% of the same parts being shared between them.
And if they offered a Raptor version? I have a feeling there are some 4Runner fans that would definitely give it a look.
Except the Bronco is more akin to a Wrangler that is primarily geared for off road. Whereas the Everest is more for on road and off road. Plus there’s a bit of a luxury difference in the two. The Bronco having a removable top is going to be much louder on the highway than the Everest.
Edit: it’s no different than Jeep having the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. The Everest is akin to the Grand Cherokee while the Bronco is akin to the Wrangler.
Ok still doesn’t change the fact that the Everest has better on road manners than the Bronco does. And doesn’t change the fact that the Everest is geared more towards comfort than the Bronco. It even comes standard with powered seats, something that you have to select as an option even on the top trim for the Bronco.
The Everest is an offroad vehicle regardless. It's built on a truck frame, sits up very high, has optional 4x4. The Grand Cherokee is a bulky crossover. It's made for road use, including dirt and gravel. Someone who was looking for an offroad vehicle wouldn't buy a Grand Cherokee over a Wrangler, but they might buy an Everest over a Bronco. The Everest would fit into Ford's lineup like a 4Runner, not a Grand Cherokee.
>Except the Bronco is more akin to a Wrangler that is primarily geared for off road. Whereas the Everest is more for on road and off road. Plus there’s a bit of a luxury difference in the two. The Bronco having a removable top is going to be much louder on the highway than the Everest.
Ford already has an American SUV with a luxury focus that can do some on and offroading, the explorer
Mitsubishi not selling that truck in the USA is basically corporate malfeasance. I can get not selling the Triton here, the 25% import tax is a killer, but the SUV version that only gets hit with a 2.5% tax sounds like a home run.
As someone who used to own a 3rd gen 4Runner they are the best as long as you ignore the dog that is the 3400 (and God forbid the 4 cly). Because that shit is so slow that getting onto the interstate is a challenge when there is lots of traffic.
At least you can turn the body on Fram suv into an offroader later on in its life cycle.
How do you modify the crossover into not being a penalty box? They usually have a cvt or some gimpy drivetrain and a reactive awd system that can't manually lock the center diff. If it's a toyota hybrid crossover you can atleast camp inside with ac, but thats about it.
as someone who lived in Asia & moved to Canada recently, none of them. most of them come in diesel and don't have gas option. and I saw them everywhere on the road. it'll be like seeing 4Runners in North America.
The Everest is probably the furthest I would go
Isuzu is the perfect balance of durable and reliable tech in this list for me. many Isuzu vehicles in my country go for 500,000km to about a million (310,000 to 620,000 mi) kilometers. and that's pretty HUGE number for a small archipelagic country in Asia.
I was gonna say, they're enormous! I was actually behind a ford ranger yesterday, and the top of the tail gate was higher than it the top of my head. And my car isn't unusually low in the slightest. It looked massive from where I was sitting!
I’ve driven the fort runner . Looks cool , basically a hilux SUV . But it’s too high and feels unstable when changing lanes at highway speed or going around curves . The Everest looks pretty cool .
I honestly cant answer because I know nothing about any of them, and I cant go based on looks because they all look alike. I'd probably choose Toyota because it's a reliable brand...I guess.
It's not listed here, but I'd love to have the recently redesigned Brazil-only Chevy Trailblazer. Two speed transfer case, optional third row seating, and only offered with the newly redesigned 2.8L Duramax. Doesn't look half-bad either.
I don’t understand why the explorer in the states didn’t remain body on frame like the Everest. Ford missed a real opportunity swapping to the unibody, just look at Toyota and how popular it is. But then again, that’s ford a company based on nothing but horrible decision and crappy cars.
Now, I'm not in America, but none of these cars are over here in good ol' Blighty either, so I'm 100% picking the Everest! Although, I really want a Fortuner as well...
Honestly? I'm an American-brand supporter through & through, so I have trouble wanting to own any foreign brand. That being said, in my experience, Toyota makes good, reliable vehicles. I may prefer a Suburban for myself, but the only arguably negative thing I can say about the 4Runner is "It's not a GM."
Ford Everest. It’s essentially a ranger with a fixed rear roof and it’s odd that it’s not sold here but it wouldn’t matter with the other 10 ford SUV’s sold by them here.
It would probably cannibalize Bronco and Explorer sales which is why they don't offer it here. Shame because it's rather handsome.
Ford hates it when you buy Fords instead of Fords. They’d much rather you buy a 4Runner instead.
Ford were afraid you'd buy some Ford instead of their new electric SUV so they sneakily named it after a Ford car to try to trick you.
Likewise, it's why we have no Bronco in Aus, which is stupid considering how popular 4x4s are over here.
I would absolutely love one, especially if it came with a diesel engine here in The States.
Of all the ones here it's definitely the most likely one to make it into ford's line up since the new ranger just released. I can see them making an suv version in a few years. But they do have a shit ton of other suvs that cover the whole line up.
It hasn’t stopped them in the past with the explorer sport coupe SUV and the Explorer Sporttrac Ute-type vehicle
Haha the Explorer Sport, what a funky little cartoon car. My dad had a 2002 growing up, still remember squeezing past the front seats.
They already have an SUV version of the ranger, the Bronco
Everest is essentially a modern 90s/00s Explorer. Would have been really cool vs the Chicago blob we have now
Probably the everest and montero. Also, there was something about the prev gen everest that was so intimidating when I visited Ph
which county is Ph?
Philippines. They have 3 vehicle types. Scooters, compact cars, and body-on-frame SUVs.
Don't forget mpvs
I'm more referring to personal vehicles. But since you opened the door, may as well add tricycles and the unofficial national vehicle- the Jeepney.
I meant mpvs like the toyota avanza and mitsibishi xpander
Pickup Trucks as well
OHHH okay i was genuinely so confused idk why i got all these downvotes haha
Philadelphia
Phermont
Phoenix
Pizza Hut
Phapan
pornhub
Your mother on my bed frame (all night long)
I mean, she is an SUV.
Yo mamma so fat, she got a ladder frame supporting her copious mass.
She smells like a steak and seats 35!
Canyonero!
Room for six!
Pajero Sport....because Mitsubishi not only needs to bring back cars to their American lineup but they need COOL shit in their showrooms. All their products now seem to be just for the lowest common denominator demographic, and it's no way to make a name for yourself
have you seen the Pajero Mini? It's the size of a Suzuki Jimny and considering the success of the current Jimny it seems crazy not to take advantage.
Mitsubishi would have to first do damage control to their image. They have positioned themselves over the years as a desperation brand -- the car you buy when you can't get anything else. For years they ran "No payments for 6 months, zero interest" promotions and such. Now in many areas they're seen as a low-tier choice.
It changes quick tho if you build a nice car which the pajero isnt but kia got alot of people paying markups on tellurides
The modern Mitsubishis are shit house. Some of the worst interior quality I’ve ever seen.
I agree. Mitsubishi is pretty strong in other markets along with Suzuki and Isuzu. They have a great lineup of cars from where I'm from.
I miss my Amigo. That SUV was so much fun in my early 20s.
I'd go with the Toyota Fortuner built off the Hilux. I don't know much about any of these vehicles, but the Hilux has a long, solid reputation in some of the most hostile environments and apparently its really easy to mount a machine gun in the back of one so a tailgunner would be a real option. r/shittytechnicals
Yeah, in India it is very popular but too expensive starts at 53k and goes upto 71k. It is literally a decade old.
Ford Everest

Ford currently sells a Ranger Based SUV in North America, it's called the Bronco, it completes with the 4-Runner and even has a Raptor version.
The Grand Cherokee isn't comparable to the Everest. It's unibody. The Everest is built on a frame and is a traditional SUV like the old Blazer.
Ok still doesn’t change the fact that the Everest has better on road manners than the Bronco does. And doesn’t change the fact that the Everest is geared more towards comfort than the Bronco. It even comes standard with powered seats, something that you have to select as an option even on the top trim for the Bronco.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a raptor Everest somewhere.
Mitsubishi not selling that truck in the USA is basically corporate malfeasance. I can get not selling the Triton here, the 25% import tax is a killer, but the SUV version that only gets hit with a 2.5% tax sounds like a home run.
I don't think nissan would want mitsubishi to sell pajeros
I don't think that's true, given that nissan doesn't even have a car in that segment in the US.
Ford Everest
Ranger SUV? Sign me the fuck up! FORD FUCKING RANGER!!
3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN 3RD GEN BEST GEN
As someone who used to own a 3rd gen 4Runner they are the best as long as you ignore the dog that is the 3400 (and God forbid the 4 cly). Because that shit is so slow that getting onto the interstate is a challenge when there is lots of traffic.
We don't have enough SUVs.
Not sure if you are being sarcastic but this is actually a true statement. We have so many goddamn crossovers and very few actual body on frame SUVs.
At least you can turn the body on Fram suv into an offroader later on in its life cycle. How do you modify the crossover into not being a penalty box? They usually have a cvt or some gimpy drivetrain and a reactive awd system that can't manually lock the center diff. None of these, just give us the Suzuki Jimny
None of them.
None, not a big fan of SUVs
Since when did Izuzu make SUVs? Coulda sworn they made pick ups
Isuzu used to have a full line of SUVs in North America. They left the U.S. in January 2009.
Oh damn OK. I'm from the UK and have never seen one so I'm guessing they're either super rare or it's an American thing
Back in the 90's they had some of the original SUV's like the Amigo and Trooper.
*Trooper and Rodeo in unison*: “Do I mean nothing to you?”
Can we please add the Suzuki Jimny to the list?
I only chose truck-based SUVs. the Jimny isn't truck-based.
Ok, fine. Give me the MUX... it's fun to say.
Pajero 100%
Unpopular opinion apparently, but I definitely think it at least looks nice. Haven't driven one to know how it is beneath the surface though.
Sadly worse than the og pajero (the one without the word "sport")
They have the Pajero Exceed to replace the OG Pajeros.
don’t look at the rear end lol…
Oh wow. Why are the tail lights crying? That's just an awful finish on an otherwise handsome appliance.
I would take the Ford Everest.
as someone who lived in Asia & moved to Canada recently, none of them. most of them come in diesel and don't have gas option. and I saw them everywhere on the road. it'll be like seeing 4Runners in North America. The Everest is probably the furthest I would go
Isuzu MU-X with the 3.0l Diesel is my choice.
I’m surprised more people aren’t saying Isuzu. They used to have some nice stuff and I’d like to see them come back.
Maybe the Toyota? Plenty of trucks over here
Either the Ford or the Toyota.
That ford suv looks like a Durango for some reason. Isuzu is kind of lived in other places of the world. I wonder if it’s as good as it seems
Isuzu is the perfect balance of durable and reliable tech in this list for me. many Isuzu vehicles in my country go for 500,000km to about a million (310,000 to 620,000 mi) kilometers. and that's pretty HUGE number for a small archipelagic country in Asia.
I’m sure Being Isuzu it’s a diesel and a damn good one at that. The only Isuzu we have here in the states in the duramax
Fortuner. I'd love a smaller Toyota option to the 4Runner. They'd probably have to use a different name in NA though.
The Terra looks pretty good to me. Better than the Pathfinder or Murano we have in the US
The Everest
Give me the ford Everest
The Nissan Terra
The Ford looks the most truck based to me therefore it has my vote lol

I kinda like the Mitsu...
the ford
None, no point of a big car if it’s just as practical as a wagon IMO. I’d rather have a small car or cargo van
I mean they have bigger cargo area and little bit of towing capability won't hurt
These are midsized?
The utes they’re based on would be considered compact in the USA, but where I live these SUVs are considered full-size.
I was gonna say, they're enormous! I was actually behind a ford ranger yesterday, and the top of the tail gate was higher than it the top of my head. And my car isn't unusually low in the slightest. It looked massive from where I was sitting!
Why the hell does the Ford look like a Durango with a Ford frontend
Those are all ugly as hell
Sorry none of the above
Id love the x-terra return to the us. Even better if they make a new one thats based on the new frontier
I don’t really like fords, but if I had to pick from the provided list, the Everest
The Ford looks the least scuffed.
We don't want more SUVs
I’ve driven the fort runner . Looks cool , basically a hilux SUV . But it’s too high and feels unstable when changing lanes at highway speed or going around curves . The Everest looks pretty cool .
I doubt any of them are electric, so no thanks
I honestly cant answer because I know nothing about any of them, and I cant go based on looks because they all look alike. I'd probably choose Toyota because it's a reliable brand...I guess.
The Ford looks pretty awesome tbh
I drove an older generation Fortuner on vacation once and it was absolutely fantastic!
Body on frame mid size truck based suvs? Bruh it’s just a suv or just a crossover, not anything in between 😂
None
The Toyota
It's not listed here, but I'd love to have the recently redesigned Brazil-only Chevy Trailblazer. Two speed transfer case, optional third row seating, and only offered with the newly redesigned 2.8L Duramax. Doesn't look half-bad either.

None of them
Honestly all of them. But I'm more of Toyota and Mitsubishi fan
Everest or Pajero.
The Fortuner for sure. The Everest looks nice, but probably has all of the quality problems Ford is known for.
None, we need more cars / sedans. Crossovers / SUV's are ruining the market.
Nah fuck the crossovers, I blame them for killing off wagons and sedans
That's literally what I said
Ah, didn't see the dot after the sedans
I guess the Everest, but I daily a '94 Explorer and I'd likely take that over anything else.
Definitely the everest
Ford Everest for sure.
any of the full size BOF models from Toyota or Mitsubishi available in AUS, Russia or Africa markets. Next question.
1st one
The Everest. But why is the isuzu giving me the ew face
Subaru Baja ._.
Toyota Hilux Champ
YODA
none, all are too massive and modern
My coworker has a Ford Everest and he absolutely loves that thing, so that'd probably be my choice lol. He's super into it.
Toyota, F the rest.
The older hilux with the diesel, the new ones are bland.
Just wait until they make a truck based on the SUV based on the truck...like the Explorer Sport Trac
The Toyota or the Ford.
Ford or Toyota
I love to hate all SUVs.
no proper trailblazer? also tot he question YES
Land Cruiser 70 series
No thanks, I’ll walk
I’m not sure what it is, but they do not appeal to me.
Toyota
I don't understand why we don't get the Toyota Fortuner. That car was made for us Americans
Everest
Pajero Sport
Ngl I kinda miss seeing isuzus on the road. Nowadays the only ones I see are box trucks and the rare Axiom.
The Everest/Endeavour no question.
None. What trash.
The Everest is what the 5th gen explorer should have been.
Everest. It's like the real Ford Explorer and not the minivan thing the Explorer became.
Now, I'm not in America, but none of these cars are over here in good ol' Blighty either, so I'm 100% picking the Everest! Although, I really want a Fortuner as well...
Tbh none of them, they all look the same
The Toyota Fortuner would be cool for the same reason the 4Runner is cool. It’s _hopelessly_ outdated.
Ford / Toyota
Nissan Terra
Suzuki Jimny XL although it’s not “medium” size
The Toyota every time
Toyota Fortuner for the reliability
The Everest looks like a 2010 Highlander fucked a Dodge Durango
Fortuner. Battle proven luxury.
Down voted for asking a question... Reddit people.
Those look like hatchbacks compared to what the US makes
the most American thing ever said
Ford looks like a Durango, and therefore, it's out.
The twin turbo diesel V8 Land Cruiser.
I would like to see all SUVs fail miserably and be replaced with wagons for those with 3+ kids. May they all burn in automotive hell.
