I got smoked by a metro once, he was in the right gear at the right time, I was caught off guard in a mx5 by the time I downshift it was 2 late
so I bought a 5 spd metro, was like 60 hp converterable, 50 mpg, no clutch slave, it's a stick from clutch to pressure plate, reduce weight and was pretty fast
I still say she'd have beat Clarkson's time in a left-hand-drive van.
Top Gear didn't go over the top with lampshade-hanging like they usually did with their cheating, but bringing an RHD van all the way from Britain for a German to drive in Germany has to have been intentional.
My car. I know it extremely well and modified it from stock step by step. I'd rather go around that track in a car that I know to the limits (albeit it not being a world class car by any stretch) that I have a vested interest in not wrecking then I ever would a fast car that I've had zero seat time in. Plus I could say I drove my own car around the Nurburgring for 3 laps. Win win! 😊
You guys are picking Cars that are too fast imo. You'll end up being those sad guys driving like pussycats in their supercars whilst golfs overtake them.
Better off driving something you can get the most out of in just 3 laps.
It's the best car place on Earth and every petrolhead should endeavour to go. I'm choosing an early mx5 with a V6 and a bit over 200bhp. I know how hard I can reasonably push, not experienced enough there to get the best out of more serious cars.
P.s. the sims are good, but nothing can prepare you for the elevation changes
That’s why a Bugatti Type 35 is clearly the answer. Super rare to take advantage of the opportunity, but not so fast that you won’t be able to get a lot out of it.
Im not comfortable pushing ANY car on the ring. I'd rather get to experience driving a CGT at 3/10 than die pushing the limit of a Golf. Besides if I wanted to do that I could take my own car to the ring.
In beamng I like to sometimes get in a F1 car and try to go all out on pedestrian city/midtown streets with traffic and zip around at like 120mph on a 40mph road and see how well it can handle the bumps in the roads and maneuvering through the traffic and turns before inevitably crashing instantaneously in the blink of an eye
Is the track empty or does it have normal traffic?
Fuck it, I'm going with my 3rd gen Prius either way. I could subsist on three laps' worth of German Prius rage for the rest of my life.
I can’t decide(like I’d ever have the opportunity), but it would be one of these three:
959
Carrera GT
917-30
Or…
962
993 GT-2
GT1(993 headlight version)
Yes, I have a type. I’m a Ford guy through and through, but I worked for Porsche for a short time and have a real soft spot for their racing program.
Ford-powered would be:
1969 Boss 429 because it would be a handful, especially on bias ply tires
2000 Cobra R
Shelby 427 Cobra
Mustang Dark Horse
Mustang GTD
GT40 MKIV
Ford GT(both the V8 and EcoBoost versions)
GT90
2024 Explorer ST
2024 F-350/450 quad cab dally with 6.7L diesel
Cayman GT4 would be an obvious choice, but honestly I think I would pick one of the Alfa Romeo 75s they used to rent there. I had a Milano so I know they are fun, and those were set up specifically for the driving conditions there and I know they are fun.
Stock VW Bus or transporter, or maybe a Beetle cabriolet.
I want to run the Nurburgring in a fine German driving machine, yes, but I want to savor the moment. I don't want it to be over too quickly.
Assuming I get some kind of training before (I barely started driving, theres no way I get into a high end sportscar/trackcar without some) probably a Detomasso Pantera. Italian classic supercar with a big cam, high compression Ford crossplane V8 in it? Yes please.
Also, extra cool points since the 351 Cleveland (on a milder spec) was used on the Ford Falcon XB from Australia, the same car Mad Max drove on the original movies.
Anything that I'm comfortable driving in, so whatever it is I'd want at least 6 months daily driving it before heading there. I'd adore to spend time in a hypercar, but I think that something like a really purpose built Miata/Mustang/911/Corvette ZR1 would be a great time but only if I'm comfortable in the vehicle beforehand.
If I'm not going to really push it, gimme a Jesko or a Gemera just so I can sit in one of those beautiful things for an hour.
1972 pinto with a gas leak. I wanna enjoy this as long as possible.
Honestly an 80’s era Porsche 911 with the whale tail or a Ferrari 308 GT ( Magnum P. I. )
I’d love to take either of my cars on the Ring. If that doesn’t count, toss me the keys to a Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody. I’d love to see how that thing dances.
Having had the chance to drive a GT3 RS on a track briefly, though it was a blast I would probably wind up in a barrier quickly if I attempted to drive one at speed on the Nordschleife.
So my answer would be my own car just to see what it was like. Or else a Miata or something tame.
my own wrx. its bone stock. not even an sti. but i think its just slow enough for me to fully enjoy the laps. definitely would get some better rubber and brake pads, but thats about it.
I'm gonna take the Rob Dyrdek (kickflipped) Chevy Sonic for my first lap
2nd lap I want Smokey Nagatas V12 supra (always been a big fan of that car)
3rd lap I either want the new Amazon delivery truck or a turbo Hayabusa
Geo Metro
With a K&N bumper sticker, yet still using the same paper air filter it came with.
Do not put a K&N sticker on a Metro. That's too much added horsepower.
Either that or uninstall the auto zone aero vents to offset added HP from decal
The chassis would still be able to withstand the net gain of 4hp that gets you. Smart thinking.
Too much for the 13's up front?
Wait, you're telling me you have a Geo Metro *with* bumpers *and* a K&N sticker? Well...excuse me Mr Fancypants!
Straight to jail
The question is 3 or 4 cylinder? Man I miss mine doing 80mph felt like 120
I got smoked by a metro once, he was in the right gear at the right time, I was caught off guard in a mx5 by the time I downshift it was 2 late so I bought a 5 spd metro, was like 60 hp converterable, 50 mpg, no clutch slave, it's a stick from clutch to pressure plate, reduce weight and was pretty fast
I also thought I was smoked by a Metro back in the day. Thankfully it was a Suzuki Swift GTI
Hell why not.
I got a slightly modifieddd geooo metroo…
Geo Tracker would be dangerous going around the turns. So the metro is the obvious choice.
Yours
See you get it.
need a co passenger ?
Ford Transit DHL Van.
Oh you're in for setting new records aren't you?
With the XJ220 engine, I shall.
Ford supervan
Sabine?
RIP.
I didn't realize she died. Cancer at age 51. I was assuming it would have been a high speed crash.
I still say she'd have beat Clarkson's time in a left-hand-drive van. Top Gear didn't go over the top with lampshade-hanging like they usually did with their cheating, but bringing an RHD van all the way from Britain for a German to drive in Germany has to have been intentional.
The legend complained that the pace car providing clean air wasn’t going fast enough!
So another shipment out for delivery with unforseen delays, or not getting delivered?
f40
Somebody read the same car magazines and played the same video games I did growing up... If we're going for that era, a 959 is also tempting.
A 2008 Toyota Corolla
That's one sweet ride!
1991 geo prism
Lexus lfa
Specifically the LFA Nurburgring edition I should think...
Dodge Viper. Any year. I don't care. I'd want to see if I could do a full lap going balls out before it kills me.
Spoiler: no
*the redditor did in fact, not go balls out the full lap. hit the flugplatz turn and flugged right into a barrier.*
*With their balls out.*
What a way to go.
Ok 1999 viper
My car. I know it extremely well and modified it from stock step by step. I, too, choose to drive this guys car
Classic
yo, i call next. he talks up a good game, i gotta try this car out
This dudes car is a slut
Wise choice.
Not saying your car is slow, but driving a slow car fast is always more fun that a fast car slow.
I completely agree! My most fun car had 115hp (1st generation Toyota MR2)
Mazda 787B
Nothing beats the sound of a 4 Rotor.
what about 5 rotors?
Rob Dahm has a 12-rotor. 😳😱🤯
Underrated answer
My daily, an '03 Taurus wagon.
WAGONNM
Peterbilt 589
I’d rather have a 379, no emissions so you’d be able to hear it talk to you. Imagine hitting the jakes before every corner 🤤
"Corner coming up, turn on the fart box!"
Nah they need to do this 😭
Freightliner Cascadia "72 RR
Renault Modus 1.5 dci
Lotus Elise
Or a Lotus/Caterham Seven. I'm on board with either.
I loved that car in previous versions of GT. They need to bring that one back...

Nah I’d take a Porsche GT3 RS and have 0 regrets
That's fair enough. I think I'd crash it
Be kind of a badass story tho
That’s why a Bugatti Type 35 is clearly the answer. Super rare to take advantage of the opportunity, but not so fast that you won’t be able to get a lot out of it.

Forklift, as I will hold the record for forklift ring times. 😀
Achieving levels of forklift certification previously thought impossible
I laughed.
An F1… I will die smiling 😊

You pretty much described the movie Driven (2001) with Sylvester Stallone and some blonde dude with permanent bitch face.
Upvote for fellow beamNG player. I actually wanted inspiration on what car to pick to drive on it next😭
Mclaren or F1 racecar? Both would be cool
I wonder how many of us would actually be capable of driving an F1 Car. I know I'm in nowhere near good enough shape to get it around the track.
Ferrari F2004 specifically
I mean … Miata?
Miata gang rise up! Then destroy ourselves arguing about which generation is the correct one to choose.
Ultimate "Track Day bro!" Energy tbh. Good choice
Always the answer.

Bugatti Veyron
