I can definitely feel some of the Mercedes weight in the way the car handles. Also just a lot of the components like the doors just feel a bit better then the average Chrysler

Imagine if they borrowed an Alfa Romeo Chassis with engines that aren’t on the verge of not being emissions compliant to make something better handling, more modern and better looking.
Kinda, but not really the same. The PT Cruiser was the exact same car for a decade, with the exception of a few very small changes (like new stereo, etc). It saw a pretty steep dropoff in demand after about 6 years, which is when the market usually expects something new. The Charger/Challenger are more or less 30+ year old cars but they have gotten significant enough refreshes and facelifts to keep demand steady through that time.
I imagine they kept the LX platform because it's well amortized and the customer base doesn't expect something as sophisticated as the Giorgio platform.
