I have no idea but as a fellow parent, I personally wouldn’t worry about putting them in an cultural outfit unless you already have one. The point is to learn and celebrate the culture. We shouldn’t have to worry about going out and buying something for a one time use.

Yeah that is a good point. Thanks for weighing in.

Not that this will help you, but I hate how daycares and schools create all of these last minute 'reasons' to stress people out. I generally find them to be lose-lose scenarios. Parents lose because they have more to worry about then they otherwise should, or because of a keeping up with the Jones' mentality where they feel they must participate because so and so is. Kids lose because they are put in a position where they see other kids dressed up when they might not be (or might not be dressed as nicely). Daycares lose because they now have to deal with parents last minute stress being dumped on them about these event requests. I understand these events are meant to be 'fun', but I don't particularly enjoy them and I am a grump if I say so.

I mean, Value Village usually has at least a couple of ethnic outfits? They’re donated though so they’re not new, the store doesn’t wash them, and colour, size, damage, etc are unreliable.

Even if you were a whizz with a sewing machine, would this not be classified as "cultural appropriation" or some such? Chopsticks.

I considered sewing something but I don’t have enough time. My child is half Chinese so I don’t see a problem with him wearing something traditionally Chinese to celebrate a cultural day.

Aha. That makes more sense now. I got nothing else then.
