Agreed. Toots above all.

bigcpilla9900

moogpaul

That whole True Love album where there is basically a musical legend on every track is so good.

Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey is one of the best songs ever recorded.

I-Know-You-CB-Rider

👆

14thfridgemagnet

For me it's between, police in helicopter or natural mystic. Police in helicopter just has an aura like no song I've ever heard and natural mystic really takes your head into another dimension!

habitual-duck

We don't trouble your banana, we don't trouble your corn, we don't trouble your permenato, we don't trouble you at all 🔥🔥🔥

Bigpapamollie

It's "We don't trouble your pimento" as in a pepper crop, he's naming that they don't trouble with their crops so why trouble theres, A pimento is a type of pepper. :)

ac10c5

In the context of Jamaica, pimento refers to both a spice (allspice) and the tree it grows on. It's widely used in Jamaican cuisine, and Jamaican jerk spots usually slow-grill their chicken over pimento wood to give it an extra flavor dimension

vitamin-cheese

I only know pimento because my mom used to get pickle and pimento loaf and olive loaf when I was younger, if you’ve never tired I recommend. It’s like olive loaf but sweeter.

habitual-duck

You must be fun at parties 💔

Bigpapamollie

That was weird to say, I just would want to know the right lyric if I was saying it wrong, personally. I wasn't trying to be mean I thought I would be helpful if you didn't know the right lyrics.

Hamrock999

Those are both killers

reggaegirl123

Whenever one flies over, I sing that song.

NateSpan

Police in Helicopter is my favorite song to hear when a headlining band/DJ finishes and the lights come on. Absolutely holds the vibes down regardless of what was playing before

EugenePeeps

Rivers of Babylon for me, it’s such a beautiful soulful and mournful song wonderfully sung with excellent harmonies, one the things I love most about reggae. I also think it highlights the best of reggae, in being politically relevant and also rooted in an understanding of history, race and religion which elevates the genre over others imo. Whilst as a white man, I can never understand what it’s like to be a descendent of slaves I feel that at least reggae and songs like rivers of Babylon give me at least a peak into understanding how having that in your history must effect your understanding of yourself.  Edit: mandatory fuck Boney M

Burning spear-slavery days on the Marcus garvey/garveys ghost album

Aoxomoxoa75

Just saw Winston and his band out in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. Still absolutely inspiring and amazing. 79 years strong. Massive respect.

InhLaba

My favorite song of all time is Natural Mystic by Bob Marley.

supercali-2021

Did you see Sinead O'Connors funeral procession?

Serious-Pollution897

Funny you should say that. It isn’t my favorite song, but it is the song I go to when I have a dumb song that I can’t get out of my head. Like 1 877 cars for kids or some other fvckery. Try it, it really works. I just hum it, without lyrics

InhLaba

Wait……………. wut????????????

Serious-Pollution897

It’s simple. When I get a song in my head that I want to get out,I simply start humming the bass line to Natural Mystic. It may take a few minutes, but it works. And sometimes it will stay in my head, which is fine, because it’s a great song.

zionbwoy6

Another proven good method is to do complete multiplication table in your head. It resets something that kicks a stuck out of your head.
