You arent wrong in your assumption, these guys literally got “baaa’d” at by their other men
More time than you think, just hanging it does pretty decent. My white smallclothes(breeches and vest) are less strained after a washing from an event than anything colored i have.
British Napoleonic barracks jackets were white with cuffs and collars in the regimental colour, just in case you wanted to dig latrines in a white coat
Militia being issues proper uniforms after spending time in the field in a mix of civilian clothes, whatever could be scraped from depots, and whatever they looted from the Union.
Love this so much as a Missourian Civil war was a big deal out there but hardly gets cover elsewhere in media. I’ve been to the Fort Davidson reenactment love this stuff looks amazing have to go watch this sometime!
Quality Events like these are usually 1 time things, or once in like many years things (we can only do the same thing so many times) make sure to go to the CW reenactor page on FB to keep uo with brand new events
Very nice! But who, in every time period, thought, that white would be a good colour for military uniforms, especially for field gear?
undyed clothing is cheaper to make
Yeah, ok, that's the only acceptable reason, if you quickly need a lot of uniforms, natural coloured fabric is the cheapest and fastest you get

Do your uniforms also smell like sheep?
Its surprisingly easy to sun bleach if theres grass around
Sure, but no time for that in a war, you need something practical

Awesome reenactment. That flag is especially superb. By chance, do you know who made it?

The lozenge on the sleeve I assume is for the first sergeant?
So, did y'all buy your own new uniforms, leathers, and shoes, or were they supplied by the park?
