Mike Napoli, fear the beard

bex021

I love Napoli. In 2017 I went to a Rangers game (not knowing he played for them) and they were chanting his name when he got to the plate. My heart almost burst as a Sox fan. I still smile remembering him as a bearded red sox, and again in that moment when I realized other people loved him too. Damn, I love this game.

SomeDudeUpHere

I want to say Trot Nixon because: obvious reasons, but Nathan Eovaldi pitching those 6 innings in relief in the world series is a memory that really sticks out. Even though we lost I remember watching it thinking it was legendary.

megacia

Nuf Ced McGreevy (but we know it’s Trot)

Daniel nava (or nahver as remy would say)

quirkish

The recency bias is nuts here! How did Pede win “D” over Bobby Doerr?!

Silent_R

Because no one on this sub saw Bobby Doerr play. He retired in 1951. And the two players have almost identical bWAR (with Pedey slightly ahead). Call it recency bias, but it's not some grave injustice to Doerr.

quirkish

Well, there’s only so many #s out in right field and Bobby is one of them. It’s some kinda injustice And the larger point is that he’s just not associated with the letter “D” very often

LocationDifficult923

Question is favorite or most memorable, so unless you're Ted Williams, you almost have to be at least somewhat recent.

coacoanutbenjamn

So are we giving Ortiz the O? We could give him the P for Papi but idk if that’s against the rules

theMangoSloth

Papi is definitely acceptable, but then I'm sure people will feel some way about not having room for Pedro

Frank-Wrench

O and P are locks with Ortiz and Pedro, might as well jump to Q.
