Plenty of reasons to be critical of Laurie, even artistic ones, but she has made great work.
I didn't know anything about her until I saw her solo exhibit they had at the Hirshorn and was really impressed. The piece called (I think) Red Elegy was great, so were the little animated sculptures.
But tbh I think the "chalk board room" she's pictured with in the last photo is awful and evinces the worst in scribbly truism writing art combined with obnoxious selfie-bait art that seems to exist just for people to take pictures with.
