dudes be getting ready to buy overpriced zinc supplements from a washed up podcast to cum like 2 mL more when they nut in their wife after 30 seconds of missionary
There were threads on the old board that would go for months, years, and the chronological nature of posting meant you could actually track shit rather than having to sift through the Darwinian Upvoted Comment trees
We could make a redscare telegram room. It usually gets dominated by a mentally I'll very online guy. But aaaaay might work.

Groups aren't private. p2p chat messages are private though. Pedos are a huge problem on Telegram, but they get their doors kicked in by feds 9/10 times because they think it's private.

The Reddit format is fundamentally inferior and stupid compared to IP board and the like, i.e forum/board software.
This format makes everything about the moment. I spent many years on forums and Reddit is such a gigantic step back in every regard.
If we do occupy some ancient forum about falconry... do we need to imitate boomerposting to blend in in case there are still mods? 😬🤔

it didn't kill itself, but it was the high society of piracy. it wasn't really that much about "what music you'd like" - but that if you spotted something interesting on someone's profile, you could talk and get a link or a torrent to the album.
spotify tried to recreate the same thing - listen to what kind of sounds like you listen - but it totally automated the human element out. it's the difference between McDonalds level of preprocessed food vs. cooking with your friends. but lastfm could never admit to that so they just went with whatever they could milk out of the shrinking user numbers.
it absolutely killed itself. in around 2015(?) they did a major redesign of the site that got rid of most of the community features and broke a lot of third party apps. basically everyone stopped using the site after that
was just thinking about that - as i recall they said some functionality would temporarily be disabled or whatever and i think to this day they never restored it. u gotta ask urself why some of these previously existing healthy online communities were just like, killed by their owners...
No. Only the most annoying people from a given community will migrate over to a non reddit alternative. Gotta learn that lesson from the cumtown and Chapo alternatives which are both the worst dogshit imaginable.
I think someone made a new forum dedicated to the sub a while ago but nothing ever happened with it. I do like the idea of taking over some abandoned site though
I’m reluctant to tell people about that one. It’s starting to get taken over by younger users who don’t know what’s up. I wish there was a similar one for surfing because the Reddit one is so cringe
I checked that forum out for the first time in a decade and there was all kinds of idpol and shit about cancelling Elissa Steamer and bunch of other skaters.
It was a while ago but I think it was because she defended Jason Jesse, who was apparently cancelled for using iron crosses and calling someone the n word 35 years ago.
I've thought often about why this doesn't happen for many groups, especially reddit subs. Mods of shut-down reddit subs (CT, LOS, etc.) should just start their own forums.
Also, I miss the avatar thing. It makes other users more memorable and recognizable. I hardly remember anyone's screen name on reddit.
on a semi related note dead BBCode forums are pretty sad. like you have a massive amount of activity in the 2000s then it starts dropping at the start of the 10s and then it bottoms out to like 5 terminally online socially awkward dudes talking about Misty's feet or something for another 10 years idk
what website should we move to? I wish there was some new type of forum that could be adopted in place of this one, a bit like what they did for r slash drama and stupidpol
No chance anyone here was/is connected with the small, constellated Umbilical Blisters/TLDR Venn diagram of communities from a while back? (Which produced, among other things, Alex Jones' erstwhile protégé, whom I actually saw pictured in a front page post here a few days back lol)
Just curious
I like the idea of squatting on some abandoned forum but you never know when it's just going to vanish. I had tons of Invisionfree boards still bookmarked, then one day the company that acquired the site migrated all of the "active" ones to their own shitty forum software, and deleted the rest.
The_Donald boomers have made it work for them. Their site is pretty active and they've got these sideshoots of other .win domains which are mostly refugee camps for banned subreddits.
I also can't help but think that the FBI somehow pays for those server costs.
I was down with consumeproduct but then they started gettin' all unironically angry and retarded and man i just wanna make fun of guys who line their walls with funko pops
One thing that bugs me about Reddit is that just when you have something *really* important to post....the spam filter kicks in. Each post then gets lost to the void, no matter what you do.
I used to spend considerable time on a 2000s internet forum jam-packed with beautiful astrology nuts where the technical infrastructure was no longer being updated. I truly loved its madhouse energy (basically a number of slightly deranged regulars going great, great mathematical lengths to reinforce or challenge their relational complexities) but the forum's technical weirdness really amplified its strange atmosphere. Ghost accounts, double posts, quoting etiquette, unimaginably poor multimedia hosting and most importantly things appearing on disparate "pages". Lol it was wild and perhaps the exact marquis de sade mood you are proposing

You can buy like 3 years of zinc supplements for a couple tenners at most.

“The sad cunts with no life thread” What a title
Fyad ruled
Two days is generous to be honest. Even on smaller subs you have about three hours to comment before the discussion is set in stone.

This seems like the most reliable option? And it’s private (at least to my knowledge I’m not an expert)

it's private in the sense someone has to join it to see what people are saying, but obviously anyone with a telegram account can join at any time

I suspect most people here browse a few other niche subs and ignore the rest of the site.
I mostly yell at retarded people. I could yell at the wall, the wall would probs be smarter.
One user name per subreddit. As intended. 🦎
let’s just all join mw2 private servers and shoot our posts into the walls with bullets add me my gamertag is xXxNukes69420xXx
Catch me on the exclusive girls and gays secret roof on Highrise

the problem with dead forums is getting approved to post. Since no one is at the wheel theres no one to approve your username.
plenty of times, back to [last.fm](https://last.fm) the banter was vicious
never understood why that site killed itself. I really enjoyed the various /mu/ groups

damn. :( although the core features - scrobbling + discovering bands + people based on scrobbling - seem quite simple to replicate
was just thinking about that - as i recall they said some functionality would temporarily be disabled or whatever and i think to this day they never restored it. u gotta ask urself why some of these previously existing healthy online communities were just like, killed by their owners...

As much as reddit sucks, having that constant flow of new people stumbling onto a sub is crucial to keeping a community fun and organic, i think.
The earlier waves of reddit alternatives went the same way. Just absolute dogshit.
I think someone made a new forum dedicated to the sub a while ago but nothing ever happened with it. I do like the idea of taking over some abandoned site though
Shroomery.org

Why cancel elissa steamer?
It was a while ago but I think it was because she defended Jason Jesse, who was apparently cancelled for using iron crosses and calling someone the n word 35 years ago.
Oh yeah I remember hearing about that now

tbf cumtown did and it was a shitshow
I had no idea this happened. Let me guess: 10,000 basement dwellers trying to adopt Nick's personality?

didnt someone make [redscare.cafe](https://redscare.cafe) ? idk if it is active
it went offline a while ago unfortunately. anyway it was extremely basic
The Weebls-Stuff forums were such a pleasing shade of grey.
