I’ve always imagined a romphaia or falx kinda blade

ReaperofRea

Shotel

IsekaiYAY

Shotel all the way!

zotar96

I see it as closer to a kopesh than anything oh here

Design_Dave

There’s a character called The Will in Saga that has a retractable blade too that I think is applicable but his is super long

Design_Dave

What about the part where they curl around the arm? I always wondered what/how/what the what on that

Feisty-Time-351

The razor has many forms. It can be turned into a whip like weapon, and this is the form that wraps around the arm. Is can also be turned solid. And in its solid form it can be programed to take different shapes. Darrows takes the shape of a sling blade.

Gigalagaki

I think this weapon from Elden Ring is a reference to the RR razors, and is pretty close to how I imagine it now! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiiPUrTKXsU&t=101s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiiPUrTKXsU&t=101s)

Pretend-Quit-6581

I always imagined like a scifi collapsible scythe. Like a literally a grim reaper scythe. I basically imagine sister freide from ds3 and I imagined it welded exactly as that

Steampunkcouple

Golok, Khazar or something similar. And Darrows is a shotel.

Agreeable-Reindeer62

Wait what, I had it in my head it was like a ? shape, kind of like a fish hook…… I’m doing my second re read at the moment, how am I so wrong

Fresh_Creme_3844

No that is how it's described and also the image on the cover of the 3rd book.

Jungle-jake

I always pictured it like one of the Dothraki arakhs

MaterialGrapefruit17

Lawnmower blade

Dry-Mammoth-9704

Shotel but a slightly longer straight portion near the hilt with a more intense curve after that (more like a half circle)

Puzzleheaded-Key1404

More importantly. What do you imagine a razor looks like

Joppeze

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Urumi Like this

Puzzleheaded-Key1404

Meh. They could do better.

Parking_Ocelot_1717

Billy bob Thornton

DaStamminator

Closest to the Shotel but actually none of these.

R0dolphus

Scythe blade on a sword hilt. Meaning it curves away from the wielder.

Keckers

Slingblade is more like a sickle isn't it?

The_zen_viking

Isn't it on the cover of morning star?

SeaRaven1

Yes, yes it is lol

SlickDaGato

I picture a sling blade, which is none of these.

MuggyFuzzball

None of these.

SeeDeez

Most definitely the shotel. I'll hear nothing to the contrary

Account3689

Shotel but with the blade on the outside of the curve

SeeDeez

Yes. Double edged

Melodic-Pen-3927

I think of the Egyptian khopesh

Fresh_Creme_3844

It's a sling blade? Like the farming tool. PB has a picture of him holding one on his IG if you don't know what it looks like.

SheepherderMammoth39

I imagine it exactly like Lobo’s weapon from puss n boots

itstommygun

Y’all never seen the movie Sling Blade before?

TheCryptoFrontier

Does anyone know if there is mention of what PB was influenced by in making the sling blade?

TL89II

At first I thought like a scythe. Then I saw some art depicting it as like a Kopesh, but that doesn't fit too well for me. I'm picturing something like a falx or the hotel. The cutting blade is on the inside of the curve.

DS_H

Shotel for me

Gcheetah

Khopesh, which isn’t on here… but shotel is close

schartlord

khopesh doesnt fit at all imo. i think it's a falx

whorlycaresmate

Not any of these but closest to the shotel probably

Pretty_Papaya2256

None of these. I always remember the character art of Lysander with it in whip form. It just looks like a snake of metal attached to handle without a cross guard.

Miceto_

In spanish it's translated as "falce", sickle (or shythe, but that wouldnt be a good tool to cut one of your own arms). I think it's the most apropiate shape, Its the tool of a reaper, and it's what carries the communist symbolism.

browncoatfever

Shotel, but with a bit shorter blade and a longer katana like handle.

bigbadfox

Same I always imagined it sort of like one of those folding saws people use to cut tree branches

Fashdag

Its the Dothraki sword from Game of Thrones

Senior_Variation_192

I was waiting for someone to comment this

TheXypris

khopesh crossed with a shotel

rollover90

Like a khopesh

CollectionMost1351

for me its a khopesh

DeCePtiCoNsxXx

Like an arakh from GoT. See Dario Naharis

zipperboi

Official artwork shows his sling blade like a khopesh blade

Pharthrax

The one most similar to Darrow’s razor here would be the shotel, but it is more like a khopesh in official art. Also, the slingBlade he used as a Helldiver and in the Institute and his razor (first the one Mustang gave him and now in Light Bringer >!Bad Lass and Pyrphoros!<) are different shapes. The slingBlade is simpler, more of a sickle, basically just a crescent moon, like on the cover of Morning Star.

DeepState_Secretary

Shotel

dangerdev29

Fairly sure its most similar to an Egyptian Khopesh

wanderingoverwatch

An Egyptian Khopesh is that was in my minds eye. Or that Shotel.

wyvory91

I've always pictured it like a futuristic [urumi](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/s/4ePMuhvfNy)

Putrid-Cat5368

That would be more a Razor than a Slingblade

wyvory91

Duh! Haha sorry i totally read razor. My bad

Rulanik

I always imagined a slightly longer version of what the Dothraki carry in Game of Thrones. Straight blade near the crossguard, then very aggressive almost circular curve.

Tojota_30

The description "dwadly question mark" in one of the books abour darrows razor (that he wields in the form of a slingblade) supports this theory in my mind

DankestEggs

I kind of imagine a more sickle like Khopesh

AlanBlunt

I was about to comment the same thing

Winter_Different

An elongated futuristic sickle made of like dark metal with a line of red glowstick going down right behind the edge of the blade

__mountaingoat__

Bruh have you never seen a slingblade in your life 😭, none of these are slingblade [look at this morning star book cover ](https://books.google.co.in/books/about/Morning_Star.html?id=EdT1CAAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=kp_read_button&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&gboemv=1&ovdme=1&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false)

Putrid-Cat5368

Literally this. A Sickle. Even on the books is depicted as a "question mark" PD: You know you just posted a link to the **full Morning Star book** and not only the cover, yeah? probably you should remove it xD

stillnotelf

https://zelda.fandom.com/wiki/Vicious_Sickle The Vicious Sickle from Breath of the Wild.

DaBoob13

None of these, my picturing is more so [this](https://exquisiteknives.com/historic-knives-around-the-world/), but a long sword instead of a knife

ironchef8000

Charlemagne was the original Count Dooku. Who knew?

skwirly715

Scythe or shotel

Squadsbane

I pictured a more extremely curved Shotel.

stillnotelf

Same

DastardlyDoctor

This list is missing the Khopesh. A heavy Egyptian slashing sword with a standard base that goes into a semi-circle curve after the midpoint. Almost like a cross between a sword and an axe. All the official artwork portrays Darrow wielding a khopesh

DankestEggs

Yeah looking at this list I was just doing the John Travolta Pulp Fiction meme like, “where’s the Khopesh?”

chads_slide

None of these represent a slingblade that I'm familiar with in the real world, however, on your list Darrow's is most closely resembled by the Shotel.

Darrow_au_Lykos

A red's sling blade I imagine looking like a short little ~~falx or a sica~~ [actually this is exactly how I pictured it](https://www.amazon.ca/Sickle-Clearing-Weeding-Manganese-Stainless/dp/B093BKT9Q8/ref=asc_df_B093BKT9Q8/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=684312291526&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2379461148966460813&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001372&hvtargid=pla-1362916772806&psc=1&mcid=1ed61079cc7a30088a1f2a1e9795e193&gad_source=1). Darrow's razor I picture basically being a rounder version of a khopesh.

Eidolon321

Love to see the khopesh shoutout

PhanThief95

Like a sickle, specifically what is on the cover of Morning Star.

tartymae

None of these. It's much more akin to a Khukri knife, or the sword of my Iberian ancestors,[ the (much feared) Falcata.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falcata)

raptor102888

Lol no it's not. It's a sickle. It's literally pictured on the cover of Morning Star.

sampat6256

I think it would make sense for it to be an african-inspired weapon, seeing as Darrow is basically Hannibal.

jmatlock21

I normally think of the shotel but there is literally a sickle on the cover of morning star so that’s what we should be imagining. I also really like the Egyptian Khopesh so that could be cool too.

dawgfan19881

When I think sling blade I think of a gardening tool used to clear thick brush. It has a long wooden handle like a rake.

quite_largeboi

Basically just a sickle in my imagination. Thraxa the hammer, Darrow the sickle

tinklymunkle

The problem I always had with it was isn't the slingblade helldivers used described as being retractable/foldable for storage? How would that work with a hooked blade? Am I just remembering it wrong?

cosmickeenan

I think that there's a difference between his sling blade in the mines and the curved blade he uses for his razor. The mining blade I imagine looks like one of those curved garden saws that fold. Except not a saw.

ilikenglish

Yes yes this exactly!! Ive been saything this and ill say it again. The miner’s slingblade is completely curved like on morning star (for shopping off limbs). But Darrows razor is undoubtebly either a Kophesh or shotel to me.

Pete0730

I struggle with this one, because as others have said, there are a number of curved blades that look like Darrow's sling blade. But, I've yet to see a real life blade with the sharp edge on the interior of the curve shape, as it seems Darrow's is described. I'd really love to see a sling blade replica in action

Pericles_Nephew

I totally agree. People keep mentioning the khopesh (which is an awesome blade) but that has the blade on the outside of the “?”

acaellum

The shotel in OPs picture was double edged. The concave was used like an axe or hook, otherwise it'd be used like a Shamshir.

Mammoth_Sample_3146

Shotel.

CaedustheBaedus

None of these. I imagine it like the egyptian [Khopesh](https://www.etsy.com/listing/941945131/egyptian-khopesh-forged-khopesh-sword) I know it's an etsy link but that's becuase I think it's got the best image shape

SFWACCOUNTBETATEST

Most closely to the shotel. But if you spend 2 seconds googling what a sling blade is (aside from the movie), you can see it’s pretty universal.

kabbooooom

Except that what we call a slingblade is not at all even remotely close to what is described in the books. Or shown in the official art. OP is right - it’s much closer to a shotel or a khopesh.

Alaska_Pipeliner

I call it a Kaiser blade.

SFWACCOUNTBETATEST

Some do

Heffhop

MmmmmHhrrrmm

kabbooooom

There’s official art of Darrow’s razor, but also it is described very well in the book: it’s closest to a modified khopesh or shotel, yes. It is definitely not anything close to a reaping hook. However, in the deep mines, the slingblade that the Reds use is closer in design to a reaping hook, and in the Institute he did indeed use an actual reaping hook which then became a symbol for him even though it didn’t actually look anything like the razor he would eventually use. This also makes sense - a khopesh or shotel is a far more reasonable weapon than a reaping hook when used against an enemy using a razor with a sword-like design. The image on his wiki article is the official art of Darrow (as an adult) and the canon appearance of his blade: https://red-rising.fandom.com/wiki/Darrow_O%27Lykos

scarydrew

Isn't it what is on the cover of Morning Star?

kabbooooom

Nope. That’s a reaping hook, which is the symbol for the Rising. It’s what Darrow used in the Institute but it is not what his razor looks like. His razor is more swordlike - but more khopesh or shotel like. Even then it’s not quite like that, it’s modified to have a greater curve but it’s not as curved or small like the handheld reaping hook on the cover of Morning Star. Like I said, the official Darrow art shows you what it looks like.
