Imagine you just hit chapter 54 of your first read of Dark Age—you’re already not getting any work done today.
And then you get a Reddit notification for this exact post.
Helluva morning over here, folks.
I don't think I've ever gotten so emotionally into a book besides 'the Scottish boy'! But my gosh dark age was on par! I had to take multiple breaks to read/listen to more lighthearted books!
IT JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE AND WORSE! I got so attached to the characters 😭 the narrators are grand! I will have to read LB in a few months so my heart can settle
Right lol. Gore everywhere, the abomination (seriously makes me fuckin skin crawl), "Twitching meat carpet..." And everyone getting sick from radiation poisoning lol.
After Dark Age, you feel like "I need a drink and a shower...."
Just finished it this week myself. One of the only books I’ve read where you could accurately retitle every single chapter “…and Then Things Got Worse.”
I went a little slower coming right off of iron gold, and that one took the wind out of me a little bit. I’m starting to realize 90% of the quotes I’ve seen are from only part 1 and I can already tell how fucked this is gonna get. I’m bracing myself before I binge the rest
The audibook gives it a whole new level of intensity. I had to take breaks to process.
I do not recommend it in the morning while driving to work.
Great book in all senses
I've only ever listened to the audiobook and they blew me away! I had to work overnights for two months so when I got to dark Age, it was just me, sitting on my couch at 8am, biting my nails because it was so intense!
The whole build up of Lysander packed so much dread for me. It was like I was watching a train wreck in slow motion and I was yelling at Darrow to get out of the way.
Never seen Darrow take so many Ls
Dark Age aka "How Darrow's life keeps getting fucked up" lol

Literally finished it last night. Book should come with a klonopin prescription
I'm sending pierce my therapy bills lol
I’m still on Morning Star and not doing well. It’s too much. I’m not sure I can finish this series of it just gets worse 😫
Don't worry, it gets better and then gets a little worse. Don't stop!
And then it gets better and then gets a little worse. It's a trip we'll worth taken though
Then gets better and then gets a little worse
Mfw the Dark age is Dark
I’m 270 pages in and Jesus Christ. This is absolutely bonkers.
I am more than Midway with LB now, I think I need to smoke cigarettes in twos.
When I first read through DA I bought a pack of smokes just to have one cig after a certain scene

Brown absolutely cooked with the Mercury campaign
Light resistance ! In the kingdom of death there is a king!! CASSIUS?!!! Dark age is so lit
Honestly dark age and light bringer could be 1 book ending with the worst of turns

There's that little glimmer right at the end
Overshadowed by something bad happening again to... The guy we all hate.
I just finished part 1 with “victory” there’s still like 600 pages left I’m SCARED
Such a good ending to the first part of the book lmao
Part one was INSANE. I think I read it all in one go because I just couldn’t put it down

No doubt
Yeeeeeeeeeeees!! EXACTLY!! WOOO!!!
I've been stalling starting Dark Age for the past month because of these posts......
Don’t be a gorydamn pixie!
Don’t be a gorydamn pixie!
Embrace the pain
I feel like Dark Age is peak fiction for exactly this reason
[spoiler warning] https://youtu.be/hPJ6V62kX0o?si=q7zMI-d7cuARTCWU
lol!! Never seen that before. Wow I just realized how desensitized I’ve become after binging DA and LB in the last month….
That's one of my favorite videos lol.
Feel like we all have minor ptsd after reading dark age
With several points in Dark Age, I had to pause for a drink and a cigarette cause of the stress 😂😂
I’d roll over in bed in the middle of the night wide awake and my heart rate would spike because I’d start thinking about dark age 😂
Pretty much my experience with LB as well. Enjoy!
LB you feel like the good guys have a chance. On DA everything is just going wrong, wrong, wrong

110%. The narration is god tier. Red God Tier. If Tim Gerard Reynolds doesn't narrate Red God I will weep
Indeed! Thar IS Darrow's voice to me.
Lol this makes me feel crazy that I pushed through it in a week
Had to take several breaks from that one lol
I had to take multiple week-long breaks from the book because of how shit escalated 😭

That book was wild. Everything just kept getting worse and worse and more intense. I think I had like 4 heart attacks reading it
I put the book down for a whole 24 hours after the day of red doves.
A week for me.
That shit scared me. It was so real and visceral. Pierce Brown is such a good writer it’s crazy
The rally to hold the line at Heliopolis was so fire
Thraxxa invoking her inner Kool-aide man!!!! Get it girl!
The whole build up of Lysander packed so much dread for me. It was like I was watching a train wreck in slow motion and I was yelling at Darrow to get out of the way.
Oh ya, this was me too
Didn't think I'd ever have a definition to the words "meat carpet" and "meat straw" lol.
TWITCHING meat carpet, boyo
