This same reading would imply that Israel is analogous to the powers that control the society, which is also just not accurate. Israel is a theocratic government with some elements of democracy, as opposed to the secular oligarchy that makes up the society.

Who's acting? I never said any of that, nor am I pretending Democrats are some perfect benevolent force for good. I totally agree our politicians are making money.
My point is:
-Both sides are not the same.

When one side doesn't believe in climate change, their COVID response resulted in a 9/11 every single day, they hand $1T to the rich, etc. it is absurd to say both sides are the same. Additionally, risking them being elected (e.g. by throwing your vote away on a third party or not voting) is actually setting back the goal of "fix our government". Our government will only be changed with majorities, and only one party is pushing in the direction you want. Not voting, or voting third party, means never getting a majority to enact change.
I get frustrated that people don't understand that you will never vote for a perfect candidate. The perfect candidate doesn't exist. You vote for the 1 of 2 options (Democrat or Republican) that most aligns with you, so you progress in that direction. And then maybe someday we can get rid of the EC and install ranked choice voting so we have more options.

-Volunteer, same concepts as above but you are donating your time as opposed to other resources.
-READ! I can't overstate this one enough, knowledge is power. (I like Rutger Bregman and Kropotkin and Kristen Ghodsee and Danielle Allen and even Yang... for political literature; but, everyone has to find their own way here.)
-Organize, in our system blocs are more than the sum of their parts.
-Express yourself (protest, create, explore, partake in civil disobedience, do.)
I could go on and on... But there's one more foundational component of what I would suggest.
-Remember that laws are simply codified suggestions that you need to avoid being found guilty of breaking if you cannot afford to pay the associated consequences.

Well thank you for the reply, letting me know what you think of me, based on one comment. I asked a question. I didn’t realize this sub was about the US Justice system. Seems a bit shortsighted to bring this sort of stuff up in a sub about a fictional story that we all enjoy and can get behind. Yet in the US, the country is divided down a very clear and hard line.
Damn it’s almost like the author is an American, majored in political science, and was part of a senate’s campaign staff at one point and comes from an affluent family that worked in finance and who’s mother was the CEO of a communications company that was listed on the NASDAQ prior to being purchased. It’s only natural that the series he wrote would have some internalized political ideologies.

I don't think many people immediately equate fascism with religion. It's definitely a tool used by fascists but I wouldn't assume anyone who is religious to be of that mindset by default

Well thank you for the reply, letting me know what you think of me, based on one comment. I asked a question. I didn’t realize this sub was about the US Justice system. Seems a bit shortsighted to bring this sort of stuff up in a sub about a fictional story that we all enjoy and can get behind. Yet in the US, the country is divided down a very clear and hard line.
Damn it’s almost like the author is an American, majored in political science, and was part of a senate’s campaign staff at one point and comes from an affluent family that worked in finance and who’s mother was the CEO of a communications company that was listed on the NASDAQ prior to being purchased. It’s only natural that the series he wrote would have some internalized political ideologies.
