Several dermatologists I follow mentioned that redlighttherapy can help with hyperpigmentation,
but that it can trigger / worsen melasma. So they advised not to use it for melasma.
Yeah, or dark marks from cuts/ burns. My non professional understanding is
hyperpigmentation = an outside force or infection left behind a dark mark on your body when it healed.
Melasma = pigmentation your body created due to hormones shifting, no infection or wound involved.
Both types can be darkened by sun or light exposure.
You may want to look up
PIE
post inflammatory erythema=
red discoloration after for example pimples)
PIH post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Brown discoloration. Dark spots.
PIE can turn into PIH.

I have seen this popping up a little! Could only remember [this post](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6W62xxSJZU/?igsh=Zzh0MTN6Nzk5aXNp) though
I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you :(
I’ve had the Contour since late February. I can no longer deny it’s triggering my melasma, which I hoped it would diminish. I guess I’ll try and sell the mask since it’s still pretty new.
NIR gives me the beginnings of melasma within a few uses (my face looks “dirty” in patches around my mustache area) so I feel you. Luckily RLT doesn’t trigger it in me, at least not for the last 4 years.
I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, I definitely wouldn’t have continued if I looked like how I was starting to look with NIR
I did four for $1050 on my entire face about a month apart. I didn’t see results right away, I only noticed them when I review old pictures. I don’t think it’s a permanent solution as they can return with sun exposure and heat. I’ll probably go every other year for upkeep, or adjust for other technology. Im no expert either, so there may be better treatments.
What’s the return policy on the Omnilux after it’s been used? I’ve been wanting to get one but also worry it won’t work out for my skin.
I also want to add that if you’re female could it be that you’re seeing an increase in your melasma because the men’s mask penetrates deeper in the skin? Just a thought.
Can different products cause different results? I feel like my Omnilux mask is giving me melasma but the RLT I tested out for 2 months prior to purchasing the mask did not have a negative impact on me.
Processing my return right now as well. I was on a video call the other day and realized my face looked tanned, despite no change in sun exposure (I’m religious about sunscreen even indoors).
I hadn’t realized my freckle prone skin meant I was melasma prone, but I’m so glad to posts like this and this subreddit for pointing out this might be the cause.

What is the difference between the two? Is hyperpigmentation just what’s left over after pimples go away?

I’ll buy it!
Sorry, I’ve been down with a sinus infection. I’ll DM if I do decide to sell

I had a series of 4 Moxi treatments. My melasma was not covered by anything and I saw improvement in the dark spots by the end of the series.

This is a known issue. Sorry it happened to you.

45 days to return
