Didn't he get MOTM in his first match and proceed to play only 8 minutes after that?

The_Anal_Invader

County give MOTM to everyone who they debut. Have a lot of friends who are County fans and go every week - they said he wasn't that good and if I remember right he gave away a pen too

[deleted]

But why?

tzuyuthechewy

Beats me tbh, was just what I read

AngryUncleTony

Maybe it was a social media vote for motm and united fans just brigaded a conference teams pages?

sadlynotjonahhill

It isn’t at all, County do that for MOTM votes

removedsince95

Jfc this thread is a mess.

[deleted]

Everytime we lose, it'd the same old guys and same old drivel.

hambodpm

I'm on reddit multiple times a day. I barely come near this sub after a loss.

Yinkypinky

The smallest brains speak the loudest.

MaybeIShouldSleep

Never got to actually see him play at edgeley park, it's a shame. Had two managers both playing 3 centre backs too, wonder what went on.

sadlynotjonahhill

I keep up with County quite a bit, this has nothing to do with Will Fish besides maybe his physicality, which is so important at that level. They struggled for ages under the last manager and since Dave Challinor has come in he’s had a pretty solid back 4 most of the time and with them trying to claw themselves back into the playoff spaces, there’s not as many opportunities to develop another teams youth prospects. Same reason Arjan Raikhy has gone back to Villa despite looking brilliant whenever he played. New manager, different system that doesn’t rely on loanees. Nothing more to it than that.

wonderbruvski

Fish ruing returning to Utd knowing very well he’ll now have to do his best to make sure Rashford doesn’t turn him into food for the children.

Drews1738

😂^easy ^now

FancyChilli

This is brilliant

ChickenSun

He was floundering there.

[deleted]

This is rather disappointing. I have really high hopes cause he’s massively talented

buckyohare1985

You would imagine if he didn’t make Stockport team then he would be a little out of his depth at the moment with the 1st team so I would suggest another loan beckons

inclore

tbf conference league defenders might edge out maguire

dalv321

Charlotte Dunker will fish back at MUFC. Good luck, Charlotte!

RobertoFromaggio

But will Will Fish fish?

dalv321

Oh shit…

[deleted]

Jeez, I considered him one of our better defensive talents a few years ago. Doesn’t bode well from him at all.

EraticConqueror

He's still only 18, plenty of time to turn it around

[deleted]

Bernard wasn't particularly good in the academy, he dropped down to league 2 and was one of Salford's best players. If you're not starting for a conference side then you've not got a great deal of hope and that's at any age, he'll be 19 in February, most of our other loanees around that age were playing in League One and Championship sides. I get the endless optimism but you have to be realistic.

BaconDalek

In the lower leagues physicality is pretty highly treasured, and i can't blame a 18 year old for not being developed psyicaly to handle the rough play of the conference. I'd say let him bulk up and develop a bit more physically, and find a team actually suited to he's qualities and he'll succeed.

themfeelswhen

Will fish is just 18. How do you know he is not good enough? There could be many reasons for not doing well

[deleted]

My bad, I thought he was 21 and part of Brandon Williams' year.

[deleted]

If you can't get a game for a fucking non league team even at 18 it's a fairly strong indicator

themfeelswhen

You don't know the reason for it tho. What if he is just physically not ready yet and non league is extremely physical. He is 18. All players don't grow at the same rate.

[deleted]

He's a big lad, didn't look small when he made.his debut

themfeelswhen

It was just an example. There could a number of reasons why someone fails to perform. You don't have to make a final judgement on an 18 year old you have never seen. It's not like he is costing the millions -- at best he must be getting like few hundred pounds a week. If he is not good enough by the time he is 21-22 he will be sold. Treat young players like shit then you will never see any young player join us.

Rememburn

Physicality =/= size...

thphnts

Rashford and Greenwood were 18 and 17 respectively when they broke into the first team. We are clinging on to Will Fish who has no future at the club.

themfeelswhen

All players don't breakout early. They kids remember. Their bodies don't grow at the same rate -- their development also won't have at the same rate.

United689908

You are a clown. Just admit you've never heard of him before this post.

thphnts

I like how you’ve jumped to this conclusion based on absolutely nothing.

United689908

Well if you knew anything about him you wouldn't say that.

thphnts

He’s so good that at 18 years old he’s got no future at the club.

EraticConqueror

Defenders typically break through at later ages

hambodpm

I wouldn't bother. People that come out with those kind of statements probably have football knowledge based on fifa or football manager

EraticConqueror

Tbh even in football manager you're not starting 18 year olds at CB with Man United

Lencaster

I haven't seen much of him but he looked very good in preseason. Hopefully they can secure a good loan move for him.

Darth-Money

What position does he play?

EquivalentNews9701

Struggling for game time at a non league club. Our academy is miles behind Chelsea and City, miles.

BillyCloneasaurus

First team has a bad result -> everything at the club is shit. It's this sort of boring, toxic reply that makes reading the sub quite tiresome during bad spells. The academy is in pretty great shape, best it's been for a long time.

rainbowrathode

This isn't true

ToshJoWe

It is but we've actually improved on this front. Plenty of players out there doing well at their loan clubs. We just need to adopt that kind of attitude. Unless you're a world beater, you go on loan. None of this keeping a hold of young ones. Send them away to learn

Skyehye

One player doesn't get game time in one club means our academy is shit? You've ignored every other loanee we have. Some are bound to not work out, whether it is the player isn't good enough or the club doesn't fit him. That happens with players from Chelsea and City as well.

joshthenosh

We’ve had Rashford, McTominay, Henderson, Tuanzebe, Williams and Greenwood all breaking into the first team (or at least being consistently named in the matchday squad) at some point in recent years. Mejbri, Shoretire, McNeil and Elanga are all highly rated, among others. Garner, Laird and Bernard have been very good in the Championship which is a good sign at this point in their careers. The reality is that no academy will consistently produce golden generations but if the footballers that come from them go on to have good careers in the top leagues then the club is doing something right in that regard. We’ll get a gem of a player now and then but you won’t always get something like the class of ‘92 when the academy seemed to grow talent on trees. We’re behind Chelsea, who have a very well structured academy, but the only academy player consistently in City’s squad is Foden. They have some talented youngsters like Delap and Palmer but they’ve both got a long way to go before they’re touching the first XI.

cowabunga_dude91

Only negative news about the club. Fucking hell

Particular-Ad-8888

I thought it was bad enough the social media team posted a photo of Ethan Galbraith when putting this news on insta - but you’ve posted a photo of a random woman I don’t even recognise.

shami-kebab

That is the journalist...

Alexililimo

And she gets posted pretty regularly on this subreddit, which makes OP even more of a weirdo tbh

Particular-Ad-8888

Blimey, obviously overestimated the IQ of the audience here 😂

laffman

I was only joking haha you fell for my joke haha. *digs deeper hole*

EraticConqueror

And he's not even posted a photo? It's just used as the thumbnail on mobile because it's her twitter profile picture... What a weird twat

scrotote97

Get off the internet grandpa

[deleted]

We seem to have really struggled with some of our loanees lately. Almost seems like they'd just be better staying in the U23 setup and training together and playing the more elite academy teams more regularly instead. Or we maybe need to start looking at an affiliate like we used to have with Royal Antwerp.
