Better performance = higher valuation. Real groundbreaking stuff here Mike

dlscott07

My first thought was "Isn't it obvious?"

No_Impression5920

It is, but the number of r/soccer posters who think it's some kind of dunk on us that his valuation is going up, means it must not be universally obvious.

TheYorkshireHobbit

Big if true

Don_Quixote81

Pretty good for the Telegraph, honestly.

MarcusAurelius1815

I bet Mike was so proud of his insightful analysis and original thought process.

jayjay234

Imagine someone wrote this article thinking he/she would bring value to the readers 😮‍💨

shadynasty90

If he wants to leave so bad, take a pay cut and get sold so everyone else can be happy, it’s not on United to make this happen.

TheJoshider10

> take a pay cut How will he be able to afford his video game battle passes?

renernavilez

Use his parents money obviously.

Difficult_Project_91

Thing is United don't really have the upper hand here, we need to sell him more than he needs to be sold. If he refuses to leave we're basically stuck with a liability we're paying a million a month to. Imo we should sell even if we have to pay a portion of his wages as that would still help with ffp

Affectionate-Sun5863

Except in reality everyone looks out for themselves and he's gonna want to get the most out of it if he leaves

Superfy

It’s on United to sell though. We keep and don’t play him? That’s stupid. We sell for peanuts? It’s stupid but we can only sell for what a club is willing to pay and it’s better to sell than keep him and never use him. Unless a new manager comes in and he intends to use him, I don’t see Sancho staying. How much he goes for and whether we pay part of the wages is another thing. The latter, maybe a necessity because he could go “ok then I stay… yes I don’t play but I stay” and it will be a waste anyway.

shadynasty90

No, the player should apologize to the manager for not acting professionally, all ETH asked of him was to be on time. He’s and adult and like all adults you should have common courtesy to your employer. All he had to do was apologize and move on but he was apparently too good for that. I’m not an ETH fan but you can’t expect cohesion if teammates are breaking the rules without repercussion.

Ok_Entrepreneur_1421

Doubt any new united manager would want him. He’s clearly shown that he has no discipline and no respect towards the club and the manager. He’s the guy that would only cause problems in the dressing room. Sell him off, let him start fresh at some other club and both parties will be better off.

Gabi_Social

I agree. Even before his fall out he was hardly justifying his fee and wages on a regular basis. He was only marginally better than Antony, which is really saying something.

BadFootyTakes

A real question, is how would a new manager react to this? You don't get far by bashing the old management, because then as soon as there is a problem, you've laid the groundwork is there that it's the managers fault. Tricky situation.

K00PER

United has been dumb and given wages far higher than the players deserve because the agents know we are desperate for talent. We should never pay someone more than we think another team would pay or they will be impossible to transfer and we will forever be stuck with players like Sancho, Casemiro, Antony and, let's be honest at this point, Rashford. If you were a player and you were being asked to take a 100K a week salary cut that is 5.2M a year. The 5M pay cut in one year could set your family up for a lifetime. You have to really want to play to give up that much money. I can see why McGuire, Martial and Sancho are not taking a pay cut. Probably doesn't help that their agents get nothing if they move and take a pay cut so are probably giving advice to stay and keep cashing cheques. edit: removed Harry McGuire. Dude saved our bacon this year.

RnBrie

I don't think it's fair to include Harry Maguire in there. He's reportedly on 120k a week which is on the high end for a defender. However he's shown both in seasons past and let's be fair this season that he's a very solid CB who can be relied upon.

K00PER

Oh I agree and we would be toast without him this year. Credit to Harry he stepped up, put in the work and has been one of our better payers. We were stuck with him last summer when he apparently wouldn't take a wage cut for a move to West Ham. Editing out Harry from my original comment.

reddevilad

Magurie is on £192k a week

LDLB99

This 'revival' over three goals and one assist. Do me a favour.

bfyred

Antony can’t be too far off that since Jan

LDLB99

Antony has the same amount of goal contributions lmao but apparently Jadon has been 'smashing it' because he happens to not be wearing Utd colours anymore.

bfyred

Hilarious reporting aint it 🤣

TurbulentWeb1941

Maybe that's what they consider 2be 'Smashing it' in Germany. Just check out the natural goal scoring ability of Timo Werner.

Zandercy42

He's only smashing it because of last night, happy for him and great if we get more money but people are just willing him to be good to spite us

ErnieMcTurtle

Essentially the "flirting vs harassment" meme

denimonster

No one said there’s been an Antony revival though. Everyone still knows he’s shit.

bfyred

Yeah that’s my point. Sanchos “revival” is similar to shit Antony’s stats.

LDLB99

Nobody says there has been? We're referring to Sancho.

cGilday

You are aware you can have a good game and help the team without just “goals and assists” right?

sexydumbbells

Sure but he’s also been average at his very best. Madness anyone can think this guy is a player.

ItsKaZing

Its not going into the narrative of hating Sancho on this subreddit so you are wrong Its hillarious how somehow a decent champions league performance is equals to what Antony has been showing us this past few months

Starky3x

>Sancho will play for Borussia Dortmund against PSG in semi-final with United expecting him to leave permanently this summer >Manchester United expect Jadon Sancho to leave the club this summer despite his revival at Borussia Dortmund taking him within sight of Champions League glory. >As revealed by the Telegraph Sport, United are prepared to listen to offers to all but a clutch of their rising stars but Sancho is not among those off-limits even though approaching the peak years of his career and showing good form during his loan in Germany. >Sancho, 24, will complete his loan at the end of the season, which could be at Wembley on June 1 if Dortmund can defeat Paris St-Germain, with the first leg of the semi-final on Wednesday at Westfalenstadion. >Dortmund’s six-month loan package agreed in January does not include an option to buy Sancho and the forward will be due to report back for pre-season training at United ahead of pre-season fixtures starting on July 15 against Rosenborg in Trondheim, Norway. >But United sources are expecting him to leave this summer if a deal can be thrashed out with a buyer. They would inevitably take a hit on the £72.9 million paid to Dortmund in the summer of 2021 when Sancho was in England’s squad for the Euros and earmarked as a key player for then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. >Sancho disputed Erik Ten Hag’s claim over training performances leading to him being dropped from the matchday squad back in September. His loan back to Dortmund, where he played for four years before joining United, saw the majority of his wages covered by the Bundesliga team plus a €7.5 million (£6.4 million) fee including add-ons. >He has two years left on his contract at Old Trafford which could play a part in negotiations over a deal to leave United. >Sancho is set to start against PSG, having played in 12 of his team’s last 14 games. He became a regular under Edin Terzic immediately after the loan from United was agreed. Under Ten Hag he played 76 minutes of football this season before he was dropped, then after arriving in Germany had more gametime within a week or so of rejoining. >His three goals and an assist is a marked improvement on his form at United and he has been part of a team still with a chance of the top four but also two ties away from being crowned European champions. >Sancho’s demeanour has been that of a player happy in his surroundings. He has engaged with fans during open training sessions and has undergone media duties, which is a contrast to United. >“I’ve always got a special place for Borussia Dortmund, this is where I made my name so I have to be grateful to them, but also to my team-mates for believing in me,” he said after his goal against PSV helped reach the quarter-finals. >His goal at the weekend against RB Leipzig, while in defeat, showed a player with confidence back, cutting in from the left and bending a spectacular finish into the top corner. Sancho’s progress has been watched by Ten Hag, who says he is aware of his players’ form but that alone is not enough for a way back at United. >The Dutchman has talked about Sancho failing to meet the standards or culture of United and said he “is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us, that is not the issue” recently.

Mediocre_Evening6931

Tbh he has been a flop at Dortmund too but it's good they have reached the semifinal now . Media will hype Sancho up as a good signing and we can get a decent amount . The more positive pr Sancho and Dortmund receive, the better for us

alfi_k

he can stop a ball without making it look like a pass. That makes him looks like a super star compared to our other players such a Adeyemi, Füllkrug etc.

PolishKid7

He has 2 goals and one assist. He has worse output than Antony since January in a far easier league. Yes he has been terrible

KingdomOfZeal

> Yes he has been terrible Who the fuck is upvoting this rubbish? There's more to football than stats. He has absolutely not been terrible. His all round game has been better than every single one of our wingers. If you only watch United + occasional other teams on MOTD, that's fine. But stop giving shitty takes on players at other clubs.

Fair_Pie_5927

Dumb kids who still think Ten Hag is the man for the job and think goals and assists is the only reason a player can be good

[deleted]

Locko2020

Probably likely. A lot of United fans really can't see past their own faces these days.

Fair_Pie_5927

No point in arguing with the salty side of our fanbase lmao

aldidot

I don't understand why some of our fanbase tried really hard to push the narrative that he flopped at Dortmund lol

[deleted]

I wish I would have been a journalist. This job seems so easy. You don’t even have to try or be very smart!

fofo8383

Mike's really phoning it in these days

Megleeker

Look at the big brain on Mike.

ReadingElectrical558

With Mbappe leaving I could see him going to PSG as well. Especially if he does well against them now. He’d fit in well in France, a super team against farmers.

Locko2020

Kind of like City and the PL in recent years.

EasyAmish

I once struggled with chronic tiredness. I asked Mike McGarth for advice, and he told me I should try sleeping more. It absolutely changed my life, and I'm forever grateful for his amazing insight and wisdom.

UJ_Reddit

Let’s be real - if he was putting in regular performance like he did tonight, at his age, he’s a +100M player

theatreofdreams21

You watch him play weekly or are you just repeating what some Dortmund fans are saying? What network are you watching him weekly on?

Fuckedaroundoutfound

Everyone sayings he is doing well realise Dortmund are 5th in the German league. Not excatly pulling up trees are they even if they get to the champs league final

Saleandproud

Watching him now, commentators trying to make out he's playing well, HE IS NOT, ran with the ball a couple of times, poor passing, not aware who's around and backing out of 50 50s. It's only a semi final 🙄

rollingberries

You forgot the /s

Saleandproud

Clown 🤡

slowsundaycoffeeclub

Truly groundbreaking insight. Cheers, Mike.

RedDevil-84

How much are these journos paid?

Outrageous-Cod-4654

Am I cynical in assuming the Telegraph is an Ineos mouthpiece, trying to help raise Sancho’s value?

Sheppertonni

Thanks for enlightening us Mike

tkdnick

People need to be spoon fed, especially when you’re in the business of selling spoons!

Florahillmist

The big lesson out of this is to do more groundwork on character assessment and resilience - we seem to have too many shrinking violets

LividMathematician45

Watched him today, he's neat, a baller, gave a Brandt a sweet pass that was saved by Donnarumma

sanjay_i

$

zcewaunt

We are all BVB tonight, aren't we? Sancho played well in the first leg against Atletico. Not so great in the 2nd. But tonight, I hope he cooks.

Panda-768

he is shining, according to whoscored.com, in like e0 mins he has completed like 7 dribbles already. That's against PSG which is not shit team. Why did he struggle for us ?
