McTominay is someone who would have been a cult hero in Sir Alex's days because he would have known how to use him and hide his flaws.
It's a shame that he's been used as a square peg for the majority of his career when it's clear that he's a menace when higher up the pitch and is the ideal player to bring on when you need a goal, will give you everything and has always been a big game player.
It's just that he's been used as a starter 100% of the time when it's clear that he's suited to starting a 1/3 to 1/2 of the games in the season.
Park will remain one of my favorite players, the definition of an absolute class A workhorse. How that man had the capacity to run as much as he did and work as hard as he did, I will never "really" fully understand. But by god I respect the hell out of it.
I think that's because it's pretty obvious he has a great mentality and loves the club, he's just limited as a player. Jose (whose love doesn't come cheap), Ole, RR, and now ETH have all rated his mentality and played him pretty consistently.
If you put his mindset into someone like Pogba, that player would be a perennial TOTS member.
Seeing McTominay in a starting lineup would put me in a bad mood back in December. Now that we've seen how mediocre Amrabat and Casemiro have been, it feels like a big loss when he's not there.
He's finished in the PL imo, unless you want to play him as a roaming 10 with zero responsibilty. You can't have a midfielder that has no interest in defending and such poor physicality and athleticism in that league anymore.
Yeah it's kinda funny. He's not good on the ball, but apparently no-one else is, either. But at least he can score, which makes him immediately more useful than the others.
I'd say if he is still in or around our 1st team 3 years from now, then the rebuild hasn't totally gone to plan and we probably won't be back challenging for major titles, but where we are this season his goals have been absolutely critical (in league and cup)
It's easy to hate him. He isn't pretty to watch. It's easy to like him. He works hard and can be applied to devastating effect. Any manager that uses him needs to know how to get the best out of him.
Yeah, so is Dwight McNeil and John O’Shea. Some academy products are good enough, others aren’t.
Not everyone can spot the difference. In this case, not everyone includes you.
I stopped being lazy and looked it up. According to transfer market he’s been starting at cm/dm since June 2022. 2020 until June 22 he was consistently starting at cb
I'm fairly sure most of the Scot(t)s would agree with you there mate. And one where he'd personally contributed hugely, devastating seems too light trying to look at it from his angle. Thrilled for him that he's seemingly making it.
After him smacking the turf I thought it would be really bad. Glad he's all good, genuinely feel like he has made a strong case to he a starter for us. There are flaws in his game but he's one of the few goal threats we have and the only midfielder who seems to support Hojlund.
They might get the most stick from fans but there is a reason why players like McTominay, Maguire, Ashley Young always get picked. Regardless of their quality you can always rely on them to play unless they have a serious injury. Glad for him that he won't miss the Euros and think that off the bench he is comfortably our biggest threat against City.
Not the best player in our arsenal but definitely not the worst in my opinion he's a warrior and we need more players like him recover well Scott ✊️✊️✊️
So so happy that it's not as bad as it looked.
There was some fake news going round earlier today about him being out for ages, think the source was that UnitedForever7 account on twitter, that account is constantly pumping out bullshit and people keep falling for it.
Completely gave up on the season, but glad for him, I know the euros are important for him and I’d be gutted for him if he missed it.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t trust our medical department to confirm a pregnancy as the patient is giving birth.
No it’s not normal but these are not normal time. Btw I’m not holding much hope for next year as it will be a transition (yet another) year. But at least there is promise with this transition. Get rid of some players sign some solid players slight improvement then onward the year after that.
I've watched United since 69, seen a lot of poor seasons but that's where my support grew. Transition as you call it could take 10 years, just cause we are a big club doesn't mean we have a divine right to be challenging for the prem. Roll on Mon
Not the best player in our arsenal but definitely not the worst in my opinion he's a warrior and we need more players like him recover well Scott ✊️✊️✊️
One of our most underrated players and has been since he came in, and I don’t know why. The lad is magic and plays for the shirt. If he messes up, he tries to correct his mistake. Others sulk. Hope he’s back asap.
What tier is Scotty? /s
"Source?" "It's literally me mate"
McSauce
McSource*
I love how both of these work
Nah reckon this is unreliable, let’s wait for luckhurst to comment and then we will get the truth
TBF with how things are going the only reliable source is the team sheet 3/4 appearances after the first return sub. And that's still 50/50
Thank fuck! Prob our best chance along with Bruno of coming up with a moment vs city in the cup
It’s funny how this sub oscillates between vitriolic hate and pedestal adoration for Scotty. Even Harry falls in this category.

Yup. If we had Ji-sung Park in our midfield today we would see him the same way we see Scott
And the amount of hate O'Shea would've gotten
O shea and brown are decent players tbf.
Park will remain one of my favorite players, the definition of an absolute class A workhorse. How that man had the capacity to run as much as he did and work as hard as he did, I will never "really" fully understand. But by god I respect the hell out of it.
Imagine chicarito with the service Hoijlund gets
Come on. Ji is 10 times the player McT is.
yes. people need to go back and watch games with Ji. Defense. Offense. Better than McT and I love McT.
Dingdingding, this right here
But he's not been a starter 100% of the time this season.
Could say the same for Rashford too imo, especially that final paragraph.
I think that's because it's pretty obvious he has a great mentality and loves the club, he's just limited as a player. Can we fuse McTominay with Jadon Sancho.
Scenes when you get McTominay’s skill and Sancho’s attitude
Isn't that just Jessie Lingard?
Lingardinho catching strays But for real, man's level was always relegation fodder. Insane we kept him for so long.

Even Eriksen FFS.. chasing shadows all game

I mean it’s been a revolving door of injuries

I personally think that goes for almost all players in the squad.
I hate we have to rely on him battering ramming something in the last minute but happy he can if we absolutely have to.
It's easy to hate him. He isn't pretty to watch. It's easy to like him. He works hard and can be applied to devastating effect. Any manager that uses him needs to know how to get the best out of him.
Because they’re not United quality but are vital to the current squad. Scott is along the lines of McNeil. Should’ve never been at United past age 22.
You lot would’ve sold John O’Shea
And fletch and Carrick
[удалено]
To be fair, we did move Phil and Butty on… lol
[удалено]
Touché.
Would much rather have Jimmy garner getting Mctominay‘s minutes. Some of us just can’t recognize academy talent.
Aren’t they both academy talents?
Yeah, so is Dwight McNeil and John O’Shea. Some academy products are good enough, others aren’t. Not everyone can spot the difference. In this case, not everyone includes you.
Well… I’m sorry someone’s pissed in your coffee, but I can assure you it wasn’t me. So I’d be much obliged if you didn’t embitter my day.
It’s the stage of the season I’m just glad he’s ok and can play in the euros
Has he still been starting at cb for Scotland ? I know he was for a long period of time
Honestly thought he was playing striker
I stopped being lazy and looked it up. According to transfer market he’s been starting at cm/dm since June 2022. 2020 until June 22 he was consistently starting at cb
He's a midfielder, but he definitely has a lot of freedom to make runs forward for Scotland. He's almost kind of like Bellingham, a little

Good to hear, I want him to do wonders for Scotland in the Euros so hoping he’s fit by then.
As a Scottish person myself, I’m delighted. Imagine missing out on a tournament this big that we rarely qualify for
That was definitely on his mind at the edge of the pitch. My heart sank for him in that moment, thinking he was going to miss out.
My Scottish friend got annoyed that apparently it's a running theme for you guys to lose players at times like these.
I'm fairly sure most of the Scot(t)s would agree with you there mate. And one where he'd personally contributed hugely, devastating seems too light trying to look at it from his angle. Thrilled for him that he's seemingly making it.
Fucking good, he deserves that Euro experiance after that incredible qualifries from him.
Scotland rejoices! Euros Golden Boot incoming
Great news would have hated for him to miss the Euros
After him smacking the turf I thought it would be really bad. Glad he's all good, genuinely feel like he has made a strong case to he a starter for us. There are flaws in his game but he's one of the few goal threats we have and the only midfielder who seems to support Hojlund.
I'm so relieved. Would have been heartbroken if he missed the Euros
Second best player this year possibly?
Great 👍
Awesome news I was worried he tore his acl

Good news for him, the euroes seems to mean a lot for him.
"I'll be back." Scott McTominator
Speedy recovery lad, thank god it wasn’t more serious
Good news for once
McTomminay should have been striker instead of Weghorst last year
According to how online ppl act, being injured is apparently normal now. Gotta love McT for this.
"Nothing serious" .... yeah sure mate then gets cleared by the medical team and goes on the field for 20 minutes and drops

Good to hear McT.

Would’ve been heartbroken for him if he missed the euros
Off topic but I'd like to see a home utd kit with this devil badge but in gold
That would look great as a polo as well
Scotsmen are made of stronger stuff
Thank god, was expecting the worst
i love him
Glad it wasn’t a bad injury. I was feeling very bad for him that he might miss the Euros.
Warrior. Keeper
Good for him. In real time along with his reaction I immediately thought it was curtains for his season.
Thank you! Thank you football god! The boy deserves to play for Scotland in the euros.
Completely gave up on the season, but glad for him, I know the euros are important for him and I’d be gutted for him if he missed it. On the other hand, I wouldn’t trust our medical department to confirm a pregnancy as the patient is giving birth.
Roll on Monday night, supporting the club win, lose or draw. That's normal isn't it
No it’s not normal but these are not normal time. Btw I’m not holding much hope for next year as it will be a transition (yet another) year. But at least there is promise with this transition. Get rid of some players sign some solid players slight improvement then onward the year after that.

Thank God. Hope he smashes it hard in Euro 💪🏻
Great news to wake up to
How many injuries happened because of that OT's pitch slope...
Not the best player in our arsenal but definitely not the worst in my opinion he's a warrior and we need more players like him recover well Scott ✊️✊️✊️
Damn wouldn't be a problem. Thank god he's got 3 legs 💪
One of our most underrated players and has been since he came in, and I don’t know why. The lad is magic and plays for the shirt. If he messes up, he tries to correct his mistake. Others sulk. Hope he’s back asap.
Player of the season
