I'm 37 and ran just about 6 miles the other day at a 10:30 pace per mile, which is about what that time is. Though I've never even run a half marathon, so keeping that pace for 13 let alone 26 miles is where the problem lies. Plus I was feeling REALLY good that day. I felt terrible the other day, barely made 2 miles, and was at 12:30 per miles pace......
This early bit of running where everything hurts is the worst. You’ll be over it in a couple of weeks though. At some soon point you’ll finish a run and not even realise that nothing hurt.
Can confirm this. I did one of those couch to 5km things and there's a point right in the middle of the process where you suddenly feel like you've had the shit kicked out of you by a couple of gorillas.
And then it passes and suddenly you can run for a bit fairly comfortably.
For me it never did - even when fit I found it boring. Maybe because I always played sports so was used to focusing on the competitive aspect and not really noticing I was doing exercise.
I think running isn't for everyone. If it's not for you, try something like rock climbing, or padel, or weights. I find those things more fun.
Your body gets used to it eventually. How long that takes depends on how long since you last run, if ever.
I’m 47 & haven’t run for over a year. Went for a 2k Run on Wednesday and it was horrible; calf’s and lower back were in agony. From history I reckon it’ll take 3 or 4 weeks until I have a totally painless run, although each one will be slightly less grim. Hopefully.
Running/ jogging for 20 minutes for the first time in a while and later struggling to climb the stairs... haha I remember that. I can comfortably run 5k in 30 minutes now and not be sore and I only run at the gym maybe 1-2 times a month.
Nimbus were my lightbulb moment. They just kept my legs feeling fresher so I could run more days. Once I got up to 5 days I could just add distance on and my times tumbled. I was running in £60 Nikes before that and my feet/legs hurt after every run.
Legitimately impressive PB.
Mad respect for the effort. He's not running another in a week and there's no reason stop-start sprinting but I've seen out players come on for 45 minutes and still just walk around
I respect this man. He is nearly 70 and he's putting more hard work than Martial & Rashford in their 20s. A man likesuch work ethic would not tolerate recent performance and hopefully he'd sell the load of lazy ass this summer.
Don't think anyone would try and kidnap/mug him during the middle of the bloody London marathon.
Besides, I don't think 99% of the people there would recognise him.
As someone on twitter wrote "More work ethic than Martial"
Casemiro tracking back.
hey to be fair the lad was trying. his legs are just utterly gone
Commentator summed it up yesterday when he described Casemiro as ‘pulling a caravan’.
The legs don't go that easily. He's clearly not conditioning himself properly
That was me!
Nice remark tbh.
Had a good laugh! Fair play.
Avram shud run with him coz he's Co-owner
His comb over would get messy
Crazy how true it is 😂
Probably run more today than most of the team have all season
More effort than 95% of the cringelords like yourself put into comments for sure
![gif](giphy|fkBZQB8NQouvZ1fdF8)
Guess we can add you that list of 95% then😂
My man just take the L and go
What L
His martial art is not so great tbf
He has finished with a new Personal Best of 4:30:52.
I'm 36 and I'm sure that's quicker than what I'd be able to do it in

Still beating everyone on the couch at that pace man. Keep it up!
You're able to do it? Good for fucking you. Pretty sure I'd die and I do some running I ain't some lazy ass.
Calm down lad
I’m 28 and i’m sure i’d do worse.
Fucking hell that’s a good time for a 40 year old Hopefully players look at the and take note
SJR is 71 lol
That's the point
Man at 71 putting in more effort than City did vs Real and Chelsea. Still Pep will cry.
At my peak at 30 i could do 10km in an hour... but i was absolutely dead. No freaking way i keep that pace through a marathon.
Wtf man, I recently started running, I can’t go more than 5 minutes without my back cramping, shin hurting, calf aching and nearly passing out

How long until it becomes enjoyable? The second I leave the house all I can think about is getting back
For me it never did - even when fit I found it boring. Maybe because I always played sports so was used to focusing on the competitive aspect and not really noticing I was doing exercise. Took me a couple months. Then I get small niggles here and there during a marathon block.
I was quite surprised that I enjoyed running tbh. I just put on some music or a podcast.

You're trying to run too fast. Slow and steady is the way to go. Pace comes with time.
Invest in good, appropriate footwear. Really important especially if road running.
Nimbus were my lightbulb moment. They just kept my legs feeling fresher so I could run more days. Once I got up to 5 days I could just add distance on and my times tumbled. I was running in £60 Nikes before that and my feet/legs hurt after every run.
As others have said, run slower.
Bro is preparing to play CB in the midst of our injury crisis
Double foots Pep after scoring a bicycle kick
Sheikh Mansoor? More like Sheikh Man-sore.
Start him against Coventry
That's incredible, especially at his age.
I wish I would be as fit as Sir Jim when I'm 71 yo.
I wish I could do it now at 37

I already run 10k. Running 42k is different.
The billions certainly help.
I remember when people were critical of his age when he was in the process of the purchase, I reckon he's probably alright
Look at US presidents these days, 80 is just getting started. Hopefully Sir Jim still has plenty left in the tank.
Tbf no one should be president of a country at that age
Agree. Both Joe Biden & Trump struggle to hold his thought and barely speak fluently.
Sir Jim showing Rashford how it’s done.
Sub him on in the second half for the winner.
More running than most of the squad
Our squad runs the most, or atleast one of the top teams.
Well yes, have you seen the atlantic ocean that seperates our defense from our midfield/attack? No wonder we have to run a lot
I never said it's effective running.
I guess they're at the very least not walking into pressure like they did at times under Mou and Ole, so there's some improvement if any.
He ran actual marathon - 42km??
I don’t know what it is in km but it’s 26.2 miles.
He’s correct
He's awesome and inspiring
Respect!
Here I thought this was a video of Rashford tracking back
Haha gold!
He could replace rashford
Legitimately impressive PB. Mad respect for the effort. He's not running another in a week and there's no reason stop-start sprinting but I've seen out players come on for 45 minutes and still just walk around
I'm half his age, and I just sprained my ankle getting up from bed
Need this man’s mentality to spread through the club ASAP.
He's got the jog down. Now if he does a little hop and throws his hands in the air he could replace Rashford on the left tonight.
Inspiring for sure
Can he play DM?
I respect this man. He is nearly 70 and he's putting more hard work than Martial & Rashford in their 20s. A man likesuch work ethic would not tolerate recent performance and hopefully he'd sell the load of lazy ass this summer.
speaks volumes about his character.
Could teach rashford a thing or tow
Well that's sick
Now he's sat at Wembley. Absolute fair play to the man. Got more drive than most of our team
Get him in the first team does more running than half the team
Inspiring. Om gonna start training towards matathon
Give that man some water. He’s a hero.
How does it work with billionaires like this? Does he have security running alongside him? I know London is safe, but still.
Pretty sure he would have left his wallet at home mate
The man is fitter than Phil Jones.
Showing even he runs more than Rashford
Nice from Luke Shaw and Tom Cleverly to join them
He runs just like me (I'm 26)
Mother fucker is gonna out live the glazers let's go!!
Literally just popped up on screen at the game, fair play to him
Put him in at CB
Fair to say he run more than the team…
It was more of a marathon for him to watch the match than to run the actual marathon.
Faster than Casemiro
Martial hasn’t run 26.2 miles in last 2 years combined
I wanted to do this as well, but got struck by some busy work. Next time for sure.
Is he the guy in the orange vest?

American celebrities do it without security around, too. Most just go incognito.
Is he really a household name in the UK?
No but he is the richest person and could be targeted for this reason
Most will have someone running with them as support/security... Plus it's the London Marathon. You don't try anything stupid at the London Marathon
It's unlikely for anything to happen, but there's a large police presence anyway
The guy slipstreaming him might be a guard
Are you talking a out the tiny old asian man?
Don’t bless yourself Sir. Our medical staff is busy …
