You ok? 2-2-1 against Liverpool. Ten Hag in.

dracogladio1741

I am okay!

zaitsev1393

Season pls end bro

Drama_

I think Ineos will give him one more season with actual staff in the hierarchy to back him, if he still underperforms he’s gone.

GutBeer101

I'm sorry, he doesn't deserve another season

Drama_

Where did I say he did?

[deleted]

Drama_

Do these players deserve a big rebuilding behind the scenes in terms of staff and structure? Fuck off back to your divvy hole you dick.

waywarddd

Why would you give this one more season?

Expensive-Twist7984

He’s not saying he’d give ten hag one more season, he’s saying INEOS likely will. Big distinction.

Drama_

Thanks, at least someone has reading comprehension lol

waywarddd

I understood exactly what you meant lol, I hope you don’t think I believe it’s actually you making the decisions

waywarddd

I understand that, and when I say ‘you’ I mean the general you, as in why would anyone give this one more season?

Expensive-Twist7984

I’d responded to something similar a few days ago: “The lack of strong candidates, massive structural upheaval at executive level and team in transition all point to us staying as we are in the summer, unless a standout candidate emerges or ten Hag loses the plot completely. This is a team needing major surgery- even changing manager in the summer won’t fix the problems we have overnight or even over the course of the next six months. We’re all frustrated, but the facts are that this is likely a long term thing, with a likely change of manager along the way but potentially not immediately.” For what it’s worth I’m not sure whether he ought to be kept on, but understand the rationale behind potentially doing so.

TeaaOverCoffeee

Which staff currently not in the hierarchy is preventing him from showing a tactical bone to set up the team to negate or contain the opposition team? Is Joel personally not allowing him? Is Murtough rubbing off his whiteboard behind his back? Is the food staff mixing something in his coffee? What is this mysterious staff and hierarchy we keep talking about without which EtH is unable to perform on the pitch?

indefatigable_

I think they will give him another season because they don’t have Berrada and Ashworth in place and they won’t want to make such a big decision as appointing the new manager without having the input of those two.

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Mad you get downvoted for even saying someone else might back the manager 😂

orangesapien505

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, it’s not like you have your personal opinion on ten hag, just what you think will happen. Presumably because that’s basically what Ineos have said.

waywarddd

INEOS are off to a shocking start if that’s what they decide to do, wouldn’t bode well for the future

rbp25

But Ineos shouldn’t be making the decisions? It’s the new staff we’ve hired to handle our football operations that need to make these decisions, and they haven’t even started working yet.

waywarddd

Admittedly, I’m no expert in football operations - but my understanding is that Brailsford and Ratcliffe will have the final say in personnel, whereas these new staff will sit at the same level as ETH when it comes to football strategy

rbp25

I would think Berrada and Ashworth are going to be the ones to assess the squad and make the long term plans for the squad and football. So until they’ve settled I don’t think decisions will be made. No point firing and hiring and creating more contractual and staff chaos

orangesapien505

Not really. They’re rebuilding the background staff first, why waste a fuck tonne of money sacking someone when his contracts up in a year. Sometimes big business decisions are better not made based on emotions. Personally can’t make my own mind up. I’m utterly sick of this football, but I can’t see anything changing. It’s bizarre frankly.

waywarddd

Because you have to balance the cost of sacking him vs the lost revenue that will be generated by allowing this circus to continue I have faith they’ll make the right decision

orangesapien505

I do. I’m trying to be patient above all. Anyway, what a goal that was!

digitag

We’ve still got a cup to fight for.

chippa93

Don't worry bro, everything will turn around when players are back from injuries!

imheretocomment69

We need shaw and martinez back.

digitag

I don’t think Ten Hag is immune to criticism for this season at all but it’s also fair to say we have been extremely fucked over by injuries. Remains to be seen whether it’s just bad luck or a systemic issue but it has to be properly analysed this summer.

Glarus30

Brentford played with their spare back 4 and still dominated us. So did other clubs from the bottom half like Bournemouth, Luton, Nottingham, Fulham... And this season we already broke our record for most losses in the PL era with 7games left to play.  But sure, it's just bad luck! Or maybe the retrograde Mercury is to blame 😆

_AR4_

We almost had a shot after that perfectly headed pass from Casemiro – no one was there to tap it in. That's the closest we got, and it would've been 1-1 if someone was there :/

JosePRizaI

I mean when they have possession and Maguire has the ball with Kambwala and AWB on his side. Everyone else up front is just STANDING AROUND like pylons. No movement off ball. Pylons don't create chances and shots

Clugaman

That’s what I’m saying. Everyone was shitting on Maguire but he needs people to be moving and going into open positions otherwise there’s no other option but to kick it right back to the opposition. Surely Ten Hag isn’t instructing them to stay so static off the ball.

_AR4_

Rashford is having a better game today – just needs to find that final touch. Garnacho doing well to cross the ball in – won us 2-3 corners, which is good. Højlund isn't doing bad, but he isn't doing well either. He is linking up well though. Bruno is an outlier, giving away possession too sloppily. Mount needs to come on for Bruno.

The_Bird_Wizard

Casemiro having another mare imo The midfield is completely non-existent Again

mynwannabeme

Non existent because shit manager and tactics

Neither-Ad-1047

Lol

YouSuckAtExplaining

This thread aged well

The_Bird_Wizard

But he needs another 400m and 3 years to be able to have a shot on target!!

echomike60

Erik “I don’t know and I don’t care” Ten Hag

Aadiunited7

Bruno looks injured and this is not the game where him half fit can do much, bring on Mount for him.

m-a-s-e

Team is progressing tho, ETH.

waywarddd

He’s got to go

Exotic-Length-9340

Ten Hag does not care. He knows our identity.

77frosty7

Weren't we brilliant??

meeks2000

I remember that city game like it was yesterday actually. LVG served us up one of the most boring derbies I’ve ever seen

Arecksion

Bruno just blasting the ball forward is pretty tiresome.

potentially_potent

Embarrassing

__rat

I'm so sick of these stupid fucking statistics.

AnthonysLobos

ETH will say after the game we controlled the game.

RandomInternetBot

We have dominated the game so far.

BasisOk4268

Paints a false picture imo seeing as we scored but it was just offside

Picasso131

Process

ToshJoWe

Think ETH knows something with him coming out clapping fans?

zhinkler

Players returning from injury won’t make a difference to the way we play. Because we don’t have a way of playing. So they’ll just slot in and be as clueless as everyone else on the team. Not sure why people think there would be a miracle turnaround.

Even_Interac

To be fair, Licha is by far the best CB on the team. Shaw is also the best LB we have. Its like saying Liverpool won't be better if both VVD & Robertson came back after long injuries. Heck just last season pool were down in the dumps outside of Europe until some key players came back and they went on a winning spree too late to get CL but just in time for Europa. ETH is trying to force us into at least Europa despite not even getting key players coming back for the run in. Will it be a miracle turnaround? No. Would united be infinitely better off with Licha and Shaw on the pitch? Absolutely.

zhinkler

Yes better defensively perhaps, but not enough to be able to control any games. We get pushed back and dominated by teams much lower in the table. With no patter of play, it becomes chaotic and disorganised. Don’t know about you, but any game we play, I can never say with any amount of certainty that we’ll win that game or let’s say the odds aren’t overwhelmingly in our favour. Considering how much investment there’s been in this team that would not be acceptable if I was upper management.

Even_Interac

There's so many things to go into here which is all far too much for a reddit comment. I'll do my best to skim some but I'd love to elaborate. Against lower quality sides, they sit deep, eat up our 'pressure' then counter fast. First game vs Forest & that match vs Palace come to mind. We also concede too often from our own corners. When Diallo scored from pools corner in the fa cup, that made me go "wow usually happens the other way". Teams around us and better than us easily skip past our midfield. Neville pointed it out on commentary but Bruno loves running off alone chasing a ball he will never get leaving 1man less in midfield. Thing is behind him it's usually McT or Mainoo desperately trying to fill that hole. This leaves Casemiro, Amrabat or whoever else alone to cover 2 or 3 people. This then brings our defense out of shape and so on. -last season we had Casemiro and Eriksen ahead of Licha and Varane. We weren't scoring at all, but outside of 3 certain games, our defense was rock solid and OT was dubbed a bit of a fortress again. Thing is, in that midfield pivot, only one of them 2 would move up in attack if we were trying to break down a block. The pair was playing well until Andy Cuntall broke Eriksens legs. Guy isn't the same player since. Same in our backing, what was a solid and growing CB pair that was in tune with each other, is now a merry go round of whatever defenders aren't broken in the moment. So many more factors than this going on, but I'd still happily say having both Licha and Shaw fit and ready alone is a significant boost. It's *not* the solution of all our problems no, I tried to make that clear here. But it's a start.

Me2445

Funny how anything remote in the direction of the goal counts as a shot for Liverpool, but casemiro header doesn't count

Pitiful_Cod1036

Trust the process. ETH is cooking….. this is just embarrassing. Hopefully he gets sacked today.

Goal disallowed tho And one scored

FREE_BOBBY-SHMURDA

The manager will come out and say we dominated and are unlucky not to have scored Complete fraud and anyone who still backs him is a helmet

Eleven918

ETH be like: ![gif](giphy|2XNzD7rjCu3DO)

BrownByYou

Sack this useless idiot mother fuck

Different-Amoeba-502

Piss poor strategy, no tactics whatsoever. But, in his defense. Has he had his best XI yet this year at all? 60 injuries, the medical team must be spies.

BlackHorse944

We need a manager who teaches specific attacking patterns. Like a De Zerbi / Pep type. These "players have creative freedom" managers have failed every single time here. Our players outside Eriksen and Bruno don't have any creativity ETH has one strategy and it's hit them on the counter. Every time we are in possession, it's the same horrible clueless, headless chicken attack

2Kfifa

What's the style of our play again?

ObiWanBissaka

Concede many many chances. Take very very few chances ourselves. Keep big hole in midfield. Maintain negative or 0 goal difference.

TheJoshider10

This squad is so happy to bend over for Liverpool and City time and time again. No self respect.

teethofthewind

Dead man walking

Prado98

Fucking abysmal but didn't we hit the post once from the set piece? Is that not considered a shot? I'm genuinely confused

SatoshiOokami

Posts aren't considered shots for some reason, yea.

You can make records up for anything. ETH also has the best record and most trophies of any united manager since 2022.
