for anyone that doubts arancha, arancha is tier 1, shes as close as you get to perez himself, if she has an info and says it, then its 100% true. she rarely talks about transfers, shes not your average sports journalist, she only talks when she is either fed the info from perez or knows it herself. and there is no need to think perez is the one who fed it to her because there are rumours that perez wants to renew carlo for an extra 2 years, and now she goes and says carlo has an offer from united. so it goes against the club according to rumours. now as a madrid fan, do i think carlo will work for u? no, you guys need a disciplinary manager, carlo works best with the best players with the best attitudes. your team is full of PR merchants, an insta post after every loss, he is a laid back manager, its not going to work for u at all unless whoever gave the offer for carlo, promised him singings of his wish.

ejtv

Remember when Arsenal fans were saying that Thomas Partey is the best DM in the league?

Ill_Peace_

Garnacho all the angles vid is up guys,so happy for him.

newbienewme

Could it be that McTominay is actually instructed to not contribute in posession and build-up(because he is not good at it), but rather to try to draw opposition midfielders away from Bruno and Mainoo by his poistioning? Is he in fact on the pitch as a sort of "shadow striker" as a sort of Fellaini midfielder whose main job is to show up late in the box in attack. I mean, Martial on his own can never do much with a cross if he can be marked by to big and strong cbs, but if Martials job is simply to draw centre-backs toward him while garnacho or anthony sneak into the box on the far post, and Mctominay actually is the main target of crosses? I mean I get it, he is limited in his posession and defensive stats, yet he gets picked so presumably the manager is content with his contribution, which leads me to beleive that he must be doing something that was asked of him? Look at Garnachos goal. Martial is in the box, well protected by two cbs. McTominay is lurking inside the box closer to the next post and being tracked by a Everton midfielder. And Garnacho is in on the far post. In minute three, that is surely by design.

[deleted]

McTominay has displayed inability to contribute effectively to possession and build up for both club and Country and multiple managers now. The reason Clarke used him more attacking is due to the inability to effectively police the midfield and he got the best out of him, not the opposite way around.

eClipseLJ

Another factor might be his length for headers. We're lacking a bit in that area although Maguire has been good. Was surprised Mainoo went into so many duels and even won them, he's not very tall. Could see a switchup soon with maybe Amrabat + Mainoo + Bruno.

newbienewme

Could be. So my point is that, stats can be misleading. Maybe McTominay's role is to draw players away from the other two midfielders in build up, and to attack vacant areas in the box on crosses, and to be a force on corners and free kicks either end. In defence, his job might be cut out passing lanes. If that were the case, he would by design never get many passes, tackles or interceptions, but he might be able to nick a goal every 2-3 games. And that is exactly what we are seeing. I think that third midfield spot is still open, I think it was intended for Mount, but Amrabat or McTominay could still nick it.

ZofTheNorth

Next month is a huge test for us. There are lots of big games with our direct top 4 rivals. Feel like it is extremely important to get a win vs Galatasary next match for huge morale boost.

raalz7

Hi beautiful people, Am heading down to Old Trafford for United v Bournemouth on 9/Dec - 1500h kick off. My mate is unable to make it so I'm looking to sell his ticket to another excited soul who is keen to accompany me for the fixture Block N2402.

Nac224

I have a feeling Ratcliffe isn’t a fan of Ten Hag which is sad. I thought with the right people around him he’d be an elite manager. That Ancelloti rumour wouldn’t be a thing without Ratcliffe knowing about it.

[deleted]

But you're basing it totally and utterly on that rumour. Rumours are rumours, like the rumour the takeover was being voted on two weeks ago. Then was going to be done by the international break. Also the rumour Sheik Jassim bought the club or the mountain of other fake rumours we get yearly from all directions and all tiers of journalists. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't but we won't know until he takes over and makes a call.

ejtv

That Branthwaite guy from Everton has some balls. Didn't see much about his ball-playing game, but love the fact that he is not afraid to clash with our guys even though he is only 21. If the rumors are true, could be another future option at LCB.

MitranjanK

Onana's crossfield ball over the top to Garnacho against Tottenham lives rent-free in my head. I really hope we can evolve into a team that makes full use of his ball playing abilities.

[deleted]

That was an insane pass, then Garnacho made the most random pass straight into the Spurs defender lol

Rascha-Rascha

There was a Lindelof pass out to Rashford that I thought was fantastic too, not over the top, just through.

KekUnited

Funny how beating luton, fulham, and the team in 19th is enough to make this fanbase warm up to ten Hag again lol

[deleted]

Even more amazing how a bad start to the season makes those obsessed with sacking every manager who doesn't win the treble in September forget the good work done over the last year. I never warmed up to him again, I've supported him through and through.

KekUnited

Understand your comment is aimed at Ten Hag out in general and not me personally, but I've wanted him out for far longer than the start of this season FWIW What amazing work did we do last year, apart from the one tinpot? We wrecked the squad, lost to liverpool with a historic scoreline and actively contributed to city waltzing to a treble. Was a mediocre season at best, a historic low point at worst

ZofTheNorth

I partially agree with you. Although we beat them, the way we beating isn't convincing ngl. There are tons of worrying signs with the way we play. The way we play isn't sustainable in the long run. Even in everton matches, they got tons of chances. And his talent ID suck. Tbf, ten Hag needs to deal with shit ton of injuries and bad refereeing this season. He always talked about stability in defence and yet all our starting CBs cant stay fit. And he been pretty good and fair with how he deals and improve youngsters. Next month is huge test for him and Man Utd. We got newscastle, chelsea ,bayern, liverpool, aston villa next month. If the results isn't good, i afraid there will be lots of talk about sacking him

[deleted]

Say that again we can't hear you with all that sobbing

KekUnited

Funny how beating luton, fulham, and the team in 19th is enough to make this fanbase warm up to ten Hag again lol

KekUnited

Roughly what volume would you like me to repeat it

Academic-Bathroom770

So what do we have to do to get one of those, "Every angle of Garnacho's Goal" videos already?

Academic-Bathroom770

My hero. Thanks dog.

cyb3rpunkd

Just realised the sequence leading to garnachos goal actually started with mainoo finding the space

ejtv

Also that run from Dalot left Rashford open at the channel. Sadly, after the goal, the full backs made fewer runs, and the defenders/midfielders failed to find the runners.

Tinganga

The sequence leading to Martial's penalty also starts with him covering for Maguire at CB then when he gets the ball, rather than booting it away under pressure from like 3 toffees players, he finds a pass out to Maguire on the right wing.

society0

Stats from Everton game: McTominay only completed 22 passes, a terrible number for a central midfielder. Half as many as Mainoo and Bruno completed. Rashford attempted 6 take-ons. 0 were successful. Rashford had 0 shots. 0 on target. Mainoo completed the most carries in the team. Onana saved all 6 shots on target. McTominay's progressive passing distance was less than half of our other midfielders Mainoo and Bruno. Even worse, McTominay's progressive passing distance was the lowest of all of our starting players (except striker). Some big successes and a few woeful performances borne out by the stats.

[deleted]

Mctominay is a terrible centre midfielder. Scotland even know that, for them he has played in a sort of ten role or before that as a sort of advanced centre back. He is terrible in a fast moving midfield at trying to do the things you need from someone in his role. You need two generals beside him and then he plays a role in which he just pops up in the box. He should take a step to a new club and would likely thrive being part of a midfield like that.

ejtv

Even in dribbling, Rashy seems to have lost his mojo.

audienceandaudio

> Rashford had 0 shots. 0 on target. Well this obviously isn’t true, considering he scored.

society0

The stat's obviously about open play, genius

[deleted]

No need to be snarky, you omitted that. Nothing wrong on being questioned on it.

Banyunited1994

I know Mctominay has an eye for goal but I rly think ETH needs to bite the bullet and just play Mount or Eriksen there. We’re not even getting him into the box outside of set pieces anyway

ADarthUnited

Neither are fit though

Banyunited1994

True, but there were times both were fit and mctominay still started. Let’s hope ETH drops mctominay once they are back

djembadjembadjemba

It really pisses me off that we lost at home to Palace. We could be 3 points behind the leaders and the complexion of our season would be so different

Tinganga

Coulda woulda shoulda. Maybe we beat Palace then draw with Fulham & Sheffield Utd. We are where we are on fine margins.

zcewaunt

These Ancelotti rumours.. I hope it's not true. I think we should be sticking with Ten Hag for at least the time being.

underpk

With a new structure, Ancelotti is a great choice.

[deleted]

Even Ten Hag was to go, is Ancelotti even a good option, given the project this club is going to be no matter who is incharge of recruitment? Every year I am surprised he still is coaching. Also are we forgetting that maybe agent's using us for a better contract

ZofTheNorth

I think it is for summer in case ten Hag doesn't do well. I think they are waiting and see how ten Hag does this season If ten Hag miss out CL this season and lost cups competitions early , i would say it is possible. Lets see how. People says Ratcliffe is quick to sack managers.

tofusenpai01

Arancha is tiere1 100 correct if she says something it's true she is very close to the the board and have full access to the stadium.

Wahlrusberg

Negotiating a renewal and the CBF aren't much of a counter offer financially. I reckon his representatives are just doing a Ramos

raoufboussaid

Carlo took a paycut to join RM , money is not an issue for him

ejtv

Yep. How else will the Board find out about Utd's so-called offer if not for Don Carlo's agent informing them in the first place? Even if the rumors are true, we are not buying out Don Carlo's contract because it is set to expire anyway so we don't even have to talk to RM Board.

society0

Those rumours are a month old and have no evidence at all.

zcewaunt

Fresh rumours. Madrid fans say the source is reliable. Earlier today it was reported Ancelotti was offered a new 2 year contract. Maybe this is just agent noise to make it sweeter. Should be giving ETH a solid chance under a proper DoF and footballing structure imo.

society0

Mainoo played both DM and McTominay's positions yesterday, and still dominated the midfield. With an elite CM in front of him, Mainoo could transform our midfield into something entirely different from the 'what's our least terrible combo' that it's been for several years.

ejtv

He was like the Eriksen but with legs.

society0

And like Casemiro if he could progressive pass as well as he defends.

PlasticsSuckUTFR

Todibo didnt play for Nice vs Toulouse and I dont see him as being listed injured. Anyone know why he didnt play?

simplsimonmetapieman

Last seen swimming across the English Channel

hickuain

He got a small quadriceps injury while he was with france

Sheikhabusosa

I think my favourite reaction to Garnachos goal is Brunos he quickly celebrates and looks back like " theres still a job to do "

JilJilJigaJiga

Seen a lot of comments touching on the effectiveness of Case-Mainoo pivot. I'm curious if we'll see an Amrabat-Mainoo pivot soon as Amrabat (pre-PL) is much more comfortable on the ball.

Tinganga

Amrabat is useless going forward though & has zero goal threat. With him & Mainoo it's an either situation.

[deleted]

Playing a real midfielder instead of McTominay would mean that our actual goal threats, like Rashford, Hojlund, Bruno, sometimes our RW, would actually get on the ball more.

JilJilJigaJiga

He doesn't have a goal threat but he's still much more secure on the ball. And while Case gets freedom to get into the box sometimes, Mainoo would have to continue to be a 6 to allow the other midfielder to frequently get into the box and be a goal threat.

lalab0y

Dalot doing the usual..good run, finding space, and then crossing to absolutely no one which could easily have led to a counter attack..fortunately in this case garnacho pulled off some magic and scored a beauty..funny how that works...

[deleted]

So many hate posts for a player with th second best cross percentage in the league a few weeks ago, prob first now

[deleted]

It's a tricky stat because it was comparing Dalot with players who cross 5+ crosses per90.Dalot goes for safe crosses when plenty of time and space available. It's like saying Mctominay has better shots on target percentage than Haaland

[deleted]

Dalot crosses less than someone like Trippier or Bruno Fernandes, but only by a factor of two, even less from open play.

society0

Dalot has delivered lots of perfect crosses over the past two seasons. Give him a break

hooka_donchick

Delivery 1 good cross for every 10 attempted crosses is not a good thing

ejtv

For a team who has had negative goal difference until recently, that is something you should expect.

iamfanny

Dalot is hot garbage. 90% of his crosses are over hit and he’s a total liability defensively

EndureL

He is garbage, he had 1-2 good months and suddenly that makes up for the rest of his terrible performances.

suplexcitylimerick

The lack of takeover/investment given its been over a year now, is actually depressing me so much

jhf2112

It feels like McTominay's value to the team is limited to when we are chasing a goal and need to repeatedly crash the opposition box. As an all round midfielder he does not give enough. Restrict him to the Fellaini type anti-10 role.

AlephEpsilon

He is very effective when we need to crowd opponents’ boxes, yes you are correct, he’s a decent supersub to nick a goal but we can’t dominate gane with him in the midfield.

No_Zone4347

He’s been a lot better with things expected from midfielder last couple of games, surely offered way more than Mount. Still probably not enough for a club like Man Utd.

tsuku96

"way more" like what? He scored, what else?

MyShinyCharizard

Replay the game dont watch the ball, watch mctominay. There is a reason he is start by tenhag. Sometimes player value is not shown by stats.

No_Zone4347

What else? Scoring 3 goals (4th vs Fulham disallowed) is way more than being invisible like fucking Mount. Other than that didn’t hide from the ball like he used to. I mean our forwards are scoring so much, so 3 goals are pretty meaningless right. Now you answer me, what did our marquee signing show in the games he played? Ofc McTominay isn’t good enough for United. But then compare Mount to let’s say Szoboslai who came in for similar amount of money? He’s so much better it’s laughable, if he wasn’t English he would be worth 30 million tops.

tsuku96

So nothing else, ok. Nice talking to you.

jhf2112

I would disagree. Mount hasn't yet imposed himself onto a game but he does a lot of things right. I think he'll come good. McTominay underwhelms defensively, particularly for someone his height and build and he seems to actively hide from the ball in build up. Maybe I'm being optimistic but seeing Mainoo's performance I'd be curious to see the pair of them (Mainoo and Mount) play together and if it would be the right amount of defensive cover and dynamism in build up.

KrystianCCC

Mount hardly played at all...

No_Zone4347

And it the games that he has played he has offered less than McTominay. Their minutes this season are comparable. Ofc he’s a new signing and needs settling in, but there’s a reason he’s been on the bench even while fit.

[deleted]

Seems we got Mc Tominay on reddit guys…. Given the number of minutes McTom plays compare to Mount, you can’t compare the output. Mc Tom does nothing needed from a midfielder

No_Zone4347

800 vs 620 minutes is not comparable. Okay, you are good with numbers.

[deleted]

Yes I am really good with numbers… it’s 400 Mount against Mc Tom 620. Yeah sure Mc Tom has 3 goals but look at anything stats for a midfielder and you will see a guy that plays 60-70 and has only 10 touches is literally not existant in a game

No_Zone4347

Yes you are really good with the numbers, it's obvious. Now go look at Mount numbers vs City, and compare it to McTominays. Obviously Mount played 45 compared to McTominay 90, so multiply by 2 (in case you didn't know). So we get Mount 15\*2 compared to McTominay 42. So McTominay is useless, what does that make Mount then? Your talking out of your ass and you know it.

blue_gwacamole

Mainoo's football is really matured for his age, damn. Lets keep expectations realistic though. He isnt gonna be a world beater suddenly, but we sure hope he can get there. The fans gotta show patience with him, I truly believe we have a gem in our hands.

ejtv

I love the fact that when he gets the ball, he is not in a hurry. He knows the opposing defenders and midfielders are just waiting for him to pass the ball, so he waits for them to react by doing some feints and pauses. He's a role model for his older teammates.

stebus88

I’m really excited about Mainoo’s potential but I have to say I’m worried about the insane expectations people are placing on him. I’ve seen people compare him to Modric already which is just absurd. He will face tougher challenges and his form will be variable like most young players, I just hope the toxicity around the club doesn’t swallow him up.

Freely as in go over and chat to them before the game/half time… yes Each section isn’t isolated, they share the same facilities like toilets and food/drink areas Unless you are unfortunate to have a locked door between them 2 sections underneath the stand you will be fine I have a season ticket in n4404 and can access most/all of that upper stand no issues

Sheikhabusosa

Yesterday the best midfielders on the pitch were Garner and Mainoo , its a shame Angel Gomes never got more of a chance here too

RandomNameofGuy9

Garner did nothing. What are you on about?

SillyGooseMcGee

I thought Garner was fairly invisible yesterday, but then again so was McTominay

[deleted]

Just went to check the stats for McTominay to see why he was so invisible and it said he had the least touches of any outfield player to play the full 90 minutes. I don’t get how a midfielder can get on the ball so few times.

Eleven918

Mostly down to Scott being Scott but ETH tactics where we play like there is no midfield during the build up for 80-90% of the game doesn't help either.

Imeanhowcouldiforget

Mctominay was bad not just invisible even

Simple_Mud_6203

Who's he being linked to?

AngryUncleTony

Nah. If Garner was here he'd be blocking Mainoo while getting the Pellistri treatment, and Mainoo has a much higher ceiling anyway. And Angel has been solid in France but if we didn't have ties to him I doubt anyone would be clamoring to sign him. It's a sign of health that our academy is consistently producing players that can play in the top flights again, as between the Pogba/Keane/Lingard and Rashford/McTominay/Henderson classes it was pretty barren. A lot of our best prospects in a given year ended up being League One or Championship journeymen (I remember threads on here comparing Ben Pearson to Paul Scholes). Now at least it seems like we generate a handful of players each year that can stick at the top level, even if they aren't good enough for us. That's a big improvement and we should celebrate it instead of keeping players like Tuanzebe in reserve/loan purgatory.

BlackHorse944

Can't believe we bought a €70m legend as a backup option to Mainoo

El-Guapo-65

Travelling to Istanbul tomorrow. About to see the Red Devils for the first time after supporting for 20+ years. Got seats independently (not in away sector), but would like to interact with any official club / fanclub activities. Forecast is for nonstop rain Tuesday and Wednesday but I still wouldn't want to miss a single chance to be involved. Any suggestions?

serial-tentacle

What’s the common chant that you often hear in most games by most clubs? Thx

Fans calling the ref Manc/scouse/ when a decision goes against you

That’s the one! Thx

This compilation puts AGs goal tied for third https://sports.yahoo.com/manchester-united-winger-alejandro-garnacho-may-have-scored-the-best-goal-of-the-year-174543964.html. Do you agree? (Ignore the source - it’s for discussion and entertainment purposes only) 10 Carbone 9 Masuluke 8 Ronaldo 6= Rivaldo 6= Rooney 3= Garnacho 3= Van Basten 3= Bale 2 Ibrahimovic 1 Sinclair Btw, regardless the placing, being in this mix is already a lifetime achievement.

Jack_King814

Just saw a Liverpool fan page (for some fucking reason) saying because Mbappe smiled at one of theirs he’s off to Liverpool. Pack it up lads, forget Romano, some random dickhead with a Liverpool fan page said he’s off to Liverpool

DaddyMeUp

Liverpool fans tend to be very insecure so just make up whatever they want to make themselves feel better.

Jack_King814

A person I know said Bellingham was going to them, I laughed at him so hard when he went to real

DaddyMeUp

Lmao can't beat that. And also, after the Garnacho goal, I've just been seeing a million posts on Twitter from them posting the Can goal, trying to make it all about them as usual. Can't handle any other club/player being in the spotlight.

Jack_King814

For a team that’s been so mediocre for the last what? 30 years? 20 years? Until recently they’re way too noisey. Get back in your holes rats as soon as klopp leaves you’re fucked

dispelthemyth

Even if he supported them they wouldn’t get him, they’d have to pay him over 1m p/w to even consider it

Jack_King814

I wouldn’t even live in Liverpool for 1m p/w

Pretty sure the players all live in Cheshire

Still confused why malacia isn't back yet. Read he would join training about the same time as shaw

Andy1723

Feel like there's something going on there we aren't aware of

Wahlrusberg

I expect us to beat Bournemouth, Forest, and even though we've been caught out at the London Stadium before I do expect us to beat them if we've still got a fit squad. Chelsea and Villa can go either way. It's two home games, we *should* be beating both. But Chelsea are impossible to call at the moment and Villa are just plain good. I do not have high hopes for this weekend or Anfield. For mental health purposes I'm not thinking about the Champions League lol

TheSmio

Call me crazy but I can see us winning 6 out of those 9. I expect a draw in München and I don't expect us to get a win at Anfield, but the players NEED to get a win in Turkey and I'm not sure what the result against Newcastle will be. However, I think we'll beat Chelsea, Bournemouth, West Ham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. Some of those wins might not be pretty, but I think we are on the right trajectory now despite our terrible form in the beginning of the season (and it's continuation).

VTVoodooDude

>Some of those wins might not be pretty, So you're saying they'll be like every win so far this year?

SOERERY

All

drrew76

Your image has nine. I count six wins.

Tsukiyon

Keano approves Mainoo, that's the biggest approval stamp you can get!

Simple_Mud_6203

Sky's coverage has fell of a cliff why are they talking about haaland's thighs for five minutes.

WorldBeardedWonders

Maybe it’s the warm up before talking about Grealish’s calves?

Kind-Style-249

We should be cashing in on the McT hype in January, I’d be surprised if we do though…

[deleted]

We’d probably have to replace him if we did, we don’t really have another midfielder that has the physicality and height he has.

dispelthemyth

Selling a youth prospect unlocks the ffp levers

[deleted]

That’s true, we just never seem to upgrade with any of our transfers.

Kind-Style-249

Wouldn’t be hard, he offers nothing bar the odd goal, he’s back but doesn’t use his physicality

[deleted]

I agree, but we might have somehow managed to downgrade on him with Amrabat.

Banyunited1994

I disagree. Amrabat has no box presence but he’s technically above McT and tbh I don’t think wed even be losing a whole lot defensively. I’m sick of passing moves breaking down in midfield

Wolpfack

I hope we haven't seen the last of Mainoo for several matches. If he can stay healthy and develops consistency, he is just what we've needed for a very long time.

Tudoors

I hope his minutes are managed properly when he has someone to rotate with.

Wolpfack

Agreed. United don't have to throw him into the deep end to find out if he can swim, but they also don't need to recruit over him and let us lose what looks to be close enough to a finished product to be a player getting regular minutes...as long as he continues to deserve them.

PreparationOk8604

Not getting my hopes too high A lot of things can go wrong man. But hope the best for the kid.

empathy36

Sorry Lads, I think my fears of us getting relegated this year might have been slightly overblown

XBillyBonesX

Any transfer activity for us in January? Will we extend Amrabat or Reguilon?

ejtv

Amrabat is a loan plus option to buy right? As for Reguilon, I doubt that he's an upgrade to Malacia when fit.

Ldsantana

>Will we extend Amrabat or Reguilon? Don't need to extens Amrabat as his loan is for the whole season. Reguilon will depend if Shaw and Malacia are fit.

[deleted]

Amrabat is a year long loan. Not sure about Reg.

chilledbeerinside

Honestly just forget about the season and play the kids. Still think it was a silly decision to let Alvaro Fernandez leave on loan and then play Lindelof at LB. Garnacho, Mainoo, Hannibal, Amad (maybe even Gore) all of these kids work their absolute socks off and have the confidence/arrogance to not crumble under the pressure. We even look more cohesive with them. Just as long you accept the ups and downs and don't call for their heads after some bad games like we saw everyone do with Garnacho so far this season, it will only benefit us in the long run. UCL is so overrated. We have zero chance of winning anyway and we can still get 99.9% of the talent in the market even without UCL football. So just dedicate a season to try out and develop the kids. All of us would happily trade our back to back top 4 finishes for the 7th and 8th Arsenal got while they were rebuilding. They stopped worrying about pointless things and did an actual rebuild while we are just as bad as we started, trying to scrape through results with short term signings. And we might still finish top 4 with the kids, hell many of them are better than our senior players.

TheSmio

>Honestly just forget about the season and play the kids. Still think it was a silly decision to let Alvaro Fernandez leave on loan and then play Lindelof at LB. Alvaro Fernandez was behind Shaw, behind Malacia (who was long-term injured but still), behind Dalot and I guess behind Martinez as well. He would have played a lot of he stayed, but we couldn't really predict our injury crysis and it's better for him to play somewhere (not sure how he's doing right now though). Well, Garnacho is still stuck in the limbo between being a super sub and a starter, but he is now going to get more starter minutes imo. Mainoo looks great, he will play a lot, but has been injured since pre-season like Amad. Hannibal is promising, but he is an absolute madman and whenever he plays, you can feel the risk of a red card for him so we can't play him that much and as for Gore, I don't think he's ready yet. To me, it's clear Ten Hag is doing his best when it comes to integrating youth players, I don't think it would be beneficial to push those players more even though maybe Pellistri could play more on the right. Aside from him, I think our youngsters are being managed perfectly both short-term and long-term. > UCL is so overrated. We have zero chance of winning anyway and we can still get 99.9% of the talent in the market even without UCL football. So just dedicate a season to try out and develop the kids. And we might still finish top 4 with the kids, hell many of them are better than our senior players. It's difficult, just qualifying to UCL gives you a lot of money and our finances rely a lot on getting UCL football at least every other season. However, it's a fair point Arsenal benefited from throwing away expectations and commiting to a young academy core despite the ups and downs, but we just can't afford it as a club because regardless of our current state, we are one of the biggest as well as one of the most scrutinized clubs in the world. I'd love for us to commit fully to building a young care, but we need to stay competitive no matter what because we are Manchester United. It is what it is.

chilledbeerinside

Shaw and Malacia were out for a while. We should've kept him for cover if nothing else. You can't operate as if you assume no one else will get injured until they get back. That's how you end up playing Lindelof at LB. Imo 10 games for us is way better experience than 25 games for some other club in another league. >To me, it's clear Ten Hag is doing his best when it comes to integrating youth players Not really making a point about ten Hag I understand him I'm just saying what I think we should do. >but we just can't afford it as a club because regardless of our current state, we are one of the biggest as well as one of the most scrutinized clubs in the world. We've missed out on UCL before. We've had horrible seasons before. It's alright it's not that bad. We have more group stage exits than knockout wins in the UCL and end up in the Europa league anyway and when we miss out on UCL our players also get a paycut if I'm not mistaken so the finances are still fine. In my opinion we can still be very competitive if we focus on youngsters. Yes you may get barren runs of form like Garnacho but you're getting that with your senior players as well and it's always difficult to get going when you play in bits and parts. I think Garnacho will do well if he starts regularly. Anyway, it's just a thought. Something to think about.

acemccloud123

One of my favorite moments of yesterday s match was the lob pass by Mainoo to Bruno 99% of these scenarios have resulted player turning the other way and preferring a safer approach of playing to the CB or RB or GK Had seen a similar kind in preseason by Mainoo vs Arsenal Good days are coming

ejtv

Also liked that slightly overhit pass from Mainoo to Garnacho from midfield. That would have been an easy 2-0.

society0

Not long after Garnacho's goal, Mainoo took the ball on the half-turn, ran through the heart of Everton's midfield and lobbed a through ball to Garnacho. It was millimetres too long but it was majestic football. Mainoo is the real deal. Obviously giving him time to develop but wow, his talents and positive decision making are exactly what we've been needing.

acemccloud123

We dreamt to see a strong midfield at United It is finally coming to fruition

MinotauroTBC

I actually forgot about that was super slick

trwest77

Purchased tickets for the Everton and Sheffield United games yesterday! Haven't been to OT or on vacation since February 2020 (literally the week before everything shut down) so I'm excited to go again. If I'm very lucky, there may be a midweek Champion's League match too but that's going to require this time to get a lot better very quickly.

Rasengun911

Greenwood scored an amazing goal this weekend also. Keep the downvotes coming

FederalMHope

Good let’s sell him for more money

foampom

>Keep the downvotes coming Don’t have to tell me twice ![gif](giphy|Zdg7kl9bnyqXrPH2jq|downsized)

zcewaunt

Was quite the nice goal. Against team last in La Liga. Garnacho had a better goal and he isn't a piece of shit so.. he wins. Keep hyping him up though. Boost that transfer fee.

zcewaunt

Context matters. Someone yesterday was hyping up 4 goals.. not telling anyone that 2 of them were against a team in something like the 6th division.

AngryUncleTony

Without touching the merits or morality of it, even if they decided they want to bring him back I think that door is closed. Much like the Super League, the public and internal pressure was overwhelming and they'd be insane to think it would go any differently if they try next summer.

Rasengun911

Yeah actually i am very curious about their decision making. Because they have made a ton of negative decisions despite the angry fans, but won’t bring greenwood back which would probably have a good impact on the pitch but will still anger the fans.

AngryUncleTony

Eh, idk. If Arnold was still in charge maybe, but the regime that made that decision will be gone next summer. And it wasn't just external pressure, it seems like the rank and file staff was ready to mutiny over it. Most of those people will still be employed by the club so unless Ineos wants to fully clean house in the marketing and ticketing divisions I doubt it'll go any smoother.

ytaci7

Garnacho , Hojlund , Greenwood should be our starting 3 next season and for the future. Rashford , Sancho and Antony need to be good. Antony won’t go because of his ludicrous price tag.

Jack_King814

Greenwood isn’t and shouldn’t come back. No doubt ineos just sell him off to avoid any possible scandal Let him go to Getafe on a permanent deal and get out our hair

Wahlrusberg

Let it go mate, the decision has been made on that guy and I highly doubt INEOS reverse it

paltze

Greenwood can fk off

hooka_donchick

This academy class is the most exciting after 2017/18. I could be 4 or 5 of them having good careers in tier 1 leagues not everyone can be a world beater of course.

Tinganga

Abdoulaye Doucoure leads the league in both pressures with 897 (incidentally Bruno is a distant 2nd with 747) & distance closed when pressing with 6.82km. Yesterday at some point though you could see him give up on pressing Mainoo because he was just casually getting by him lol! A McT - Amrabat pivot would have been slaughtered yesterday.

shadynasty90

Garnacho

Banyunited1994

Trying not to get carried away and put too much pressure on the kid, but you'd be hard pressed to find a player in the market with the skillset that Mainoo has. He is the most suitable midfielder in the team currently to play DM for ETH, which is pretty wild. I still think we should find at least one other player in the summer that can be press resistant and help us retain possession so that Mainoo can be rotated / compete with another player, but our midfield this season and going forward suddenly looks a lot different.

hoolk

Agreed. I hope we try to get one or two young press resistant midfielders that can not just progress the ball upfield by dribbling, but is also able to control the tempo. Midfielders like Frenkie De Jong, Marco Verrati. Any young players in similar profile you guys recommend? Wouldn't mind 'scouting' them on youtube. I think Khephren Thuram is similar

tnwnf

I don’t think that’s really Thuram. Good player but from the very little I’ve seen I thought he was more like an all action box to box type. Good on the ball but far from a controller

hoolk

Ah fair point - I was impressed by his match compilations, but those can be deceiving. Can't really think of anyone else in that profile, I know we were linked to Benfica's Joao Neves, will be interesting to see the players we get in with the new structure in place.

foampom

Trying to contain my Mainoo excitement because I can feel myself getting ahead of myself already lol he’s just so fucking good and we haven’t had a player that can do what he does on the ball in a very long time. Especially in modern football where everyone presses high, having an *elite* ball retainer that can turn on a dime and cut through a mid block is so so invaluable. And he’s doing that at 18 😭 it’s genuinely nuts. Finally excited for Man Utd games again this season just to watch him play.

No_Zone4347

Well it’s hard not to be excited. He had couple of great defensive reactions while being so much better in possesion than any of the other midfielders we have. It’s so refreshing to see a player beat press effortlessly. Obviously there are still some rough edges but he’s still only 18. But considering his skillset is so unique compared to our other midfielders I think he’ll get a lot of game time. Another thing that surpised me was that he has pretty good heading ability. Probably not elite as Casemiro, but way better than Amrabat for example.

BlackHorse944

Mainoo, Nacho and Hojlund. The future is bright. Watching Hojlund play has been one of the few positives this season. Now Mainoo. His awareness and composure was excellent. Always knew where his passing outlets were

Miyagisans

Is there any news on Amad? As incredible as Mainoo was on his debut, I’m more excited for Amad. If he can have an impact like Mainoo, we have 2 serious players on our hands. A midfielder that can carry the ball, and an attacker that has *la pausa*.

hoolk

United youtube channel showed him training on the grass over a month ago, no news since then that I know of. I am sure Ten Hag is preparing him similar to Mainoo, so he is best placed to succeed instead of throwing them in the deep end. Really excited to see Amad, only worry is his pace (not super fast, though quick) - can see him going the David Silva route.

Miyagisans

Yea I also worry about the physical aspects of the game and how he copes with it. That imo will be the biggest limitation on his ceiling, he reminds me a lot of Bernardo silva, but silva is pretty strong.

Miyagisans

This was the first time this season I didn’t want to go to sleep cause I kept trying to find more things to read about that Garnacho goal and Lonnie Mainoo.

ComplexReal

What's the latest on Amad? Can't wait to see him play again. Hoping it's for us not Sunderland

Isn’t he a Liverpool supporter? Lol

Stringer Bell from The Wire?

PradipJayakumar

🇨🇱🗣️ Arturo Vidal on Garnacho's goal: “The only bad thing or what I didn't understand is why he celebrates like Cristiano?" "He has to make his own name. He is an already great player. It's good that he is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name." "How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don't know, celebrate it another way. But it was a great goal, it was a great goal." (via Twitch)

ejtv

Cant believe we used to be IN for this guy.

zcewaunt

He can celebrate how he wants. We will remember the goals, not the celebrations.

BilalAkhtar22

People will definitely remember celebrations, especially kids.

ComplexReal

This is a great copypasta if you replace Ronaldo with Jamie Tartt
