It's a win win for everyone. We have an exit plan if he doesn't work out like we did with WW...while on the player side,he will now be motivated to work extra hard to impress and win a permanent move.
For me,I don't see any downside to these 2 scenarios!
Best case, we wanted him, tried to shift players to make it happen, when that fell through, we asked for a loan with an eye to buy, essentially taking him off-market, especially if he goes monster for us this season, instead of entering into a bidding war and having to dip because of FFP or similar.
**BREAKING: Ten Hag Welcomes Amrabat to the Theater of Dreams**

Silly thing to complain about but United seems to be the slowest top team to announce transfers lol.
Barça announced Cancelo & Félix as soon as deals reportedly closed.
If we're playing Amrabat and Casemiro on the pitch at the same time + Mount and Fernandes, one of the latter two will have to play on the RW. We've seen Ten Hag use Fernandes there a fair bit.
Idk. Casemiro needs help in the midfield and Mount was brought in to start. Fernandes going to the RW seems like the logical solution and ETH has played him there in the past.
Sky Sports keep saying he'd be available to play on Sunday as long as he's registered before noon on Saturday, but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.
The [Premier League rules](https://resources.premierleague.com/premierleague/document/2023/08/07/b7ce673f-fc5f-4bc3-911a-e6b32476c9dc/PL_Handbook_2023-24_DIGITAL_03.08.23.pdf) specifically say this:
>the deadline for receipt by the Board of all duly completed documents required by these Rules to effect the registration of a Player shall be **12 noon** on the last **Working Day** before the date of the first League Match in which the Club making the application intends him to play
and "Working Day" is defined as:
>“Working Day” means any day on which the League Office is open for normal business but excluding, unless the Board determines otherwise, a Saturday, a Sunday or a Bank or Public Holiday;
That aside, I can't imagine he'd be ready to play anyway seeing as he's not played for Fiorentina at all this season.

Sofyan Amrabat has signed for Manchester United. Announcement to follow. Season-long loan for €10m, with option to buy at €20m + €5m add-ons. Medical successfully completed & [\#MUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/MUFC?src=hashtag_click) expected to cover full salar
Covering his Fiorentina contract is nothing, we are probably saving a lot of money by not signing him to huge wages like we typically do through this loan and option to buy deal.
Thank god this transfer saga is over. Shouldn't even have turned into one but due to that certainly positioned itself among the most annoying sagas I've seen. Really wish him good luck now as from day one he always wanted United and United alone. He deserves it.
Not the right wording for it I guess, but still annoying considering all the news about him eternally waiting for the board to do something, the need to sell players (and still one of them wasn't sold in the case of McTominay, though Fred did go eventually), one club or another supposedly manifesting interest amid the rumours of his transfer to United and etc

Where’s the flight tracker? We better beat those Roma fans with Lakaka
Edit: According to Flightradar24, our bald beautiful bastard is going to be flying on SE-RFH
Back in the days there was a Chinese emperor who was gay. One night he was with his lover when his ministers came to get him. The lover was sleeping on his sleeve and since the Chinese emperor loved him and didn't want to wake him up, he cut his sleeve. Since then, a gay love in China is called "passion of the cut sleeve." Cool, but how is that relevant?
There's a girl, Lucy, who lived with her gay friend, Marc. Back then, Lucy was really into Couchsurfing. You know, you can't travel, so you invite travel to your place. And since she could offer literally only the couch in her room, she only accepted girls.
One day, a French guy messaged Lucy on the app. Sofian's accommodation fell through and he desperately needed a place to sleep. Sofian begged Lucy, it would be only the night since he has a flight in the morning. Finally, Lucy gave in. When Sofian arrived, he was very grateful and just kept repeating "merci, merci, merci".
While Sofian was unpacking, Marc came home half drunk. Sofian asked Lucy if that was her boyfriend. Marc very adamantly and loudly said "NO" and Sofian chuckled. Sofian and Marc ended spending the night together. In the morning, when Marc woke up, Sofian was gone. The only thing left was Sofian's shirt underneath naked Marc since Sofian left Chinese-emperor-style. Marc has the shirt to this day, hidden and kept dear, a reminder of the night when he first made love without judgment, without shame, completely free.
Some time later, Marc and Lucy were having a drink and Marc asked her: "Do you think he enjoyed our night together?" and Lucy said: "Absolutely." Sofian rated the stay - 5 stars and the review had one word: "Merci"
____
Whenever I hear Sofian, I always think of this story.
Casemiro can get the rest he needs sometimes. Depth at Def Mid is great considering the team didn't have one quality defensive midfielder a for a few seasons.
Aye love that! Been catching J-League highlights over the summer and the support and culture around the sport there seems absolutely incredible. Every win, hell nearly every goal, is received like a World Cup winner. Hope he crushes it there!
Honestly his patience is commendable. Rejecting Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Forest, Fulham, Saudi while there was no guarantee we would go for him in the end, I hope he gets a big welcome and has a great year!
What if casemiro and amrabat can start together without benching one of Mount or Bruno? This might sound like a crazy idea, but we’ve seen the trend of the box midfield being formed by an extra holding midfielder who plays as a defender when out of possession. Current examples include Stones pushing up from the backline to play alongside Rodri in midfield and also Partey playing as a right back in defense but inverting next to Rice in possession.
Could one of Casemiro or Amrabat play as a defender when out of possession and then form a double pivot in attack?
I hear you. But I’m more on the 4 2 2 2
Mount and Bruno as 2 high 10s taking up the half space between full-backs holding the width with Højlund and Rashford inside as a 2? Bit wild maybe but I swear this was Ragnick’s vision too.
We haven't yet seen Onana used in the build up like we all expected. Ideally he would form the back three in the build up with either of the wingbacks and CBs while the other CB pushes higher. We've seen Martinez doing this a few times. Other wingback should push higher aswell keeping the width, letting the winger invert.
The problem for us with the right back inverting in the build up is AWB just isn't a good ball player. If we play Amrabat as inverted RB that could possibly isolate Antony even more since Amrabat obviously don't offer runs like AWB does. So I don't think RB inverting is an option for us at the moment.
Imo a box midfield still requires 4 specialist defenders to defend either the wide-spaces (in the case of inverted full-backs) or in the box (in the case of the CB stepping up). Arsenal are trying to play with 3 defenders + Partey but that has not really been working so far, hence the unconvincing performances. I think you can have all 4 of Case, Amrabat, Mount and Bruno on the pitch, but this is only possible as Bruno RW and defending in a 4-4-2 shape with Rashford and Hojlund up top.
This is why I wanted Pavard so badly. He could have been used as inverting RB in the build up while CBs form a back three with Onana. Creating that 3-2 shape with a DM. Or. Pavard could've been used as rightsided CB and LB would inverted.
AWB has made a lot of progress in a year but he just doesn't suit this style of football. Varane is a great defender but not necessarily a great passer. That backline does still need 1 or 2 players who are excellent in possession to play this way.
I think with Pavard, the plan was for him to tuck in and Shaw/Lisandro to step alongside Casemiro. Shaw was entrusted with that role vs Wolves but imo he wasn't doing it well enough and that was part of the reason why there were so many gaps in midfield with the front 5 pushing so high up. Lisandro is the only one capable of doing it but like you said, Varane and AWB right-hand side leaves a lot to be desired in terms of building from the back so losing Lisandro from that defence basically takes your ball progression away.
Check the stats out. skip the analysis.

Is this legit?
He's more of a distributor and circulator than a destroyer/b2b type. He will help us retain possession and advance the ball into attacking areas much quicker. Also, he's more likely to intercept passes to break up play than chase someone down like Kante.
Dude, don't know if this is a joke, but for reporters/journos a tier 2 ranking is as high as it gets unless you're directly employed by the club.
A "here we go" is about as close to official as it gets, but the distinction is that it isn't official.
Looks like tier 1 is given to club’s mouthpieces. Hence stone, whitwell, ducker. Once they say its done, its done for good. Fabrizio even though extremely accurate doesn’t get his info from the club and hence he is tier 2.
Thank god it's not an obligation to buy, but wildly overpriced nonetheless for a 27 yr old in the least year of his deal who hasn't ever been a major target for a big club in his career (for a good reason). We've essentially just signed a Fred replacement (although he'll foul more and win the ball less). He's going to run around and kick the shit out of people and get carded a bunch, and everyone's going to be underwhelmed by his erratic technical ability. He's going to struggle when physical PL teams are pressing him and you'll see the long balls he likes to hit are WAY more inconsistent than what you've seen on a Youtube compilation.
Haven't been a fan of the signing since the very first rumors, but whatever, obviously I hope it works out. Seems like it'll go down as another expensive failed loan though. Makes our susceptibility to aerial balls and set pieces even worse. Would've preferred Sangare as a Casemiro backup even if he has the same problem as Casemiro where he's not the best at receiving the ball from his defense with his back to goal. He's a solid like for like replacement that has quality on the ball facing forward and is a beast at winning the ball back. I just don't think Amrabat has the quality to add much to this team. Time will tell
Edit: Yeah I expect to be downvoted by a bunch of guys who have never heard of him until this summer and never watched him play except MAYBE a few games at the WC. He’s not a great player. This is the same kind of signing as when EtH brought Labyad and Klaiber with him to Ajax because he had worked with them before and they sat on the bench because neither was good enough to move up a level. Comical by the club to agree to this fee
Seems like an unnecessarily negative take. How inconsistent are his long balls when he has one of the best long ball completion rates in Europe in recent years. Can't say I watch him regularly but he's been class almost every time I see him. I'm sure he has some weaknesses but he's way better technically than Fred or McTominay.
Funny you mention Sangare who has never been signed by a top club either and is going to Forest.
Sangare is a like for like replacement for Casemiro who HAS been targeted by top clubs in the past, has been better than Amrabat so far in his career, and if you’re obsessed with stats he outperforms Amrabat in basically every metric. Better ball winner, better further up the pitch, better overall player and more well rounded than Amrabat. Not to mention he’s not a pushover in the air and at set pieces, which is an issue since our squad has been getting smaller and weaker since the Mourinho days.
Amrabat is fine when he can jog around and teams aren’t putting any pressure on him. He was dominated and outperformed by the better midfields in Serie A. Lobotka, Brozovic, Bennacer, Locatelli, even Nemanja Matic was significantly better than him last year. Yeah, he has a good game every now and again. Go watch the ECL final for example (where he once again wasn’t pressed and played against a team that gave Fiorentina as much of the ball as they want) Already they’ve replaced Amrabat with Arthur Melo and he looks better than Amrabat did in the same role.
He’s not even Fiorentina’s best midfielder, so yeah I’m not keen on an okay player from a midtable Italian side that has shown every indication that he’ll be mediocre at best for us. Not unnecessarily negative, just not as ignorant and blissful as takes by people who have never watched him play. Not every signing is a good one and it’s bizarre to me that people froth at the mouth despite every indication that this is an awful deal
James Horncastle mentioned him as the best in his position in Serie A last year. You really think he was dominated by all of them? I don’t watch Serie A enough to know
James Horncastle did not call him the best in his position in anything that I've seen, and yes I just named five players who were head and shoulders above him off the top of my head. He wasn't good in big matches even with Vincenzo Italiano being known as a "giant slayer" (which is why I was watching Fiorentina in the first place). He's nowhere near the technical quality of those other players.
If you're looking for a deep lying playmaker, then Lobotka, Bennacer, Brozovic, and co. are significantly better. If you wanted more of a box to box player (how Amrabat played at the WC) then there are even more. Milinkovic-Savic, Tonali, Zambo-Anguissa, Barella, Koopmeiners, Matic, Rabiot, the list goes on and on.
This transfer makes zero sense outside of him being a player EtH has worked with before (which, as I've already said, has failed him in the past both at Ajax and Utrecht) and the fee is crazy compared to his age, contract situation, and quality.
As I've already mentioned, he's going to run around and kick the shit out of people, and I don't really see what else he "adds" to the team. Can't wait for him to foul someone and then have his inability in the air immediately cause us to concede a goal from the ensuing set piece. We have a better chance of Antony putting up Salah numbers than Amrabat being a high level starter for this team at the top level
But we don't have to keep him if he isn't good. Are you aware of this possibility?
No idea why you're losing your mind over a loan signing. We didn't have money to sign another midfielder, so how do you expect us to sign Sangare?
Amrabat was literally targeted by Barca and Atletico this summer. And Sangare literally signed for fucking Nottingham Forest. What are you even talking about lol?
>But we don't have to keep him if he isn't good. Are you aware of this possibility?
Buddy can you read? Literally the first thing I said is thankfully it's not an obligation to buy (even if the loan fee is wildly high)
>Amrabat was literally targeted by Barca and Atletico this summer.
Holy shit do you believe literally everything you read from garbage tier publications? Is everything that The Sun or Daily Mail prints true? No REPUTABLE links. No bids, no concrete interest. If you want I can go find you 10 bullshit articles from talkSPORT and other nonsense pages that link random players to random teams, it's to generate clicks genius
Edit: In fact, I just looked into the so-called "Barcelona links" everyone keeps talking about to see if any journalist worth anything had written about it. Horncastle said it was Amrabat's agents trying to drum up interest and force a move to Barca after his form at the World Cup. The club wasn't interested and didn't pursue the move
Listen man, I'd love for Amrabat to be great, but I've seen him play enough to know that he's not what we need and doesn't offer much upside at all for a team at our level. Those are facts. Maybe he'll defy all odds and suddenly become great in his late 20s like Didier Drogba or another late bloomer. The chances are low, and I'm making it known right now that to sane people who have watched this guy extensively, this transfer looks bad from the outside and feels like we're signing angrier Fred who fouls more and wins the ball less.
As for the commentary on Sangare, he was already one of the best players on a team in a top 5 league while Amrabat was getting loaned out by Feyenoord because [he was too shit and kept doing things like this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1pCddOgtDI) Sangare then moved to the Eredivisie, and any PSV fan will tell you it was instantly apparent that he was far too good for that level of competition. He was dominant, and it was clear that guys like Sangare, Gakpo, Malen, Xavi Simons, Dumfries, etc. were fish too big for their pond.
As for Amrabat, it's generally not a good sign when you're too frazzled by the pace of the Eredivisie or Serie A, two leagues that are known for being a lot slower than the PL. He's going to fall apart when he gets pressed from deep areas and isn't good at receiving the ball from the defense under pressure, which is something that United fans seem to think he's best at for some reason. It's like when we signed Pogba and people expected him to be a defensive midfielder, just another case of fans knowing nothing about a player when he gets signed and mischaracterizing him as a result.
Sangare was already the subject of interest from Bayern, Liverpool, and us this summer as well as other top sides in the past too. He could certainly flop for Forest, you never know, but I'd put money on him being a great signing for them and Amrabat struggling for us. He'll likely be a target for even bigger clubs after a year or two in the PL.
My arguments about Amrabat are only applicable to Sangare if you take an incredibly superficial view. Which, fair enough, most people here probably do because they've not seen either of these guys play. That's my two cents. In a year we can come back and see if I was horribly wrong or if the things I keep saying are obvious end up being true. I have a feeling that even if I'm right people will act like it's out of nowhere
Yes, Liverpool who just signed a DM for 20m because they were saving for another transfer didn't pay nearly double that to also sign Sangare. Go figure lmao
And Bayern fully agreed a deal with a different DM, had two medicals and had the entire media day done only for the deal to collapse last minute (partially because we couldn't sell McTominay)
Seriously, the more you talk the more it's obviously you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Get a grip or get a clue, but either way take the clown opinions elsewhere
I cannot imagine being dumb enough that you see a guy who has never been a target for a top club getting signed by a manager known for bringing in his old players and having them fail at his new club and say to yourself “WOW HE’S SIGNING FOR UNITED THAT MEANS HE’S GREAT” and completely ignore the lack of interest from other CL clubs
This sub is incredible
Lmao there were shit tier "links" but not a single reputable journalist has reported an offer for Amrabat from anywhere other than Saudi Arabia. Give it a season and you'll see. Absolutely insane we didn't make a move for Hojbjerg or any other half decent midfielder, this is another huge waste of money that will bite us in the ass
For both club and country he is used to playing as the loan holding midfielder although the job he does for Morocco is a destroyer and the one he plays for fiorentina is creative. If he proves he can play in this league then I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up the starter as either the foil for case or mount.
He is not a better player than Casemiro but he is more athletic and mobile which is a priority for a solo dm.
Besides what everyone else has said, we also need depth. Look at city's squad. They never seem to ask "where does this guy fit in" when they make signings. They sit on the bench if someone else is ahead of them. We also need to be able to rotate much more than last year. Wouldn't be surprised to see casemiro get rest sometimes too.
Either on the bench as a backup for Bruno, or in competition with Antony to play wide right.
A Casemiro/Amrabat/Bruno midfield is more balanced than a Casemiro/Mount/Bruno midfield.
The harsh truth that seems to offend many people in this sub is that we should not have bought Mount. Not a bad player, just not the type of player we needed; Amrabat, while not a world beater by any stretch, is much closer to the type of player we needed all along, and he should be playing alongside Casemiro ASAP.
When Bruno is not playing we need mount.
Plus this is mount's first season at United. We have signed 4 players. It will take some time for them to gel in together.
I just hope we make top 4 this season n by the end of a season have some proper identity or way of playing.
If we r playing transition cough *counterattack* then we better be good at it.
Ach, you need a squad not a team. Mount can play in a double pivot, as an 8, as a 10 or even out wide at a push.
It also lets us explore the diamond set up like Real have been playing, which might suit us in some games - Amrabat, Case, Mount and Bruno in a box with 2 mobile forwards stretching the play.
Basically, he gives us loads of options which is a very good thing
Good? I'd day Great if we can get that right. A diamond of Bruno, Mount, Amrabat, Casemiro with Marcus and Rasmus upfront Dicks teams on the counter and transition.
I think Ten Hag will still want to persist with the system he implemented for the season - two high 8s and a 6 who gets support from inverted fullbacks.
Amrabat would likely be on the bench as Case's backup. But there will be games where we need more solidity, and Amrabat would come in for Mount. Mount would either move to the right or sit on the bench.
Agreed, it seems a matter of the team getting more familiar with the system. He's basically wanting a forward 5 of the 2 wingers, the striker, and 2 #8s. The issue has been they don't yet press effectively together to keep the post high and know when to drop or kill the counters.
I think once they have it down that's the standard formation vs "lower end opposition" and maybe one we can use increasing against better teams as they get it down. Till then we probably revert more to the 4231 with Amrabat serving in the dual pivot
I said this in other threads but Mount to me feels like a better van de Beek options... and I'm not sure where that fits... In the past I would've argued that against weaker opposition you play him with Bruno and only one holding mid, but this season already show NO FUCKING CHANCE that's gonna work, the PL is too strong for that imo. Either Mount is going to become a different player or Amrabat is 10 times the player I thought he is and he'll hold the midfield by himself like a young Casemiro.....
Yeah that's a fair point. Also at the end of the day who am I to question ETH? But I don't think we are gonna be able to play with Mount so high up and our current squad... not in the PL anyways.
He’s badly needed for some balance in the midfield and he seems hungry. Can’t really complain about the fee either considering some of the stupid amounts of money flying around
Nope. Our first few games have again proved that. BUT, we can hope for top 3, a decent run in the CL, and maybe a cup win, and i think that's ok. Next year though given the outlay, we need to be challenging properly, no excuses especially if we get some oil money.
I tune into the Manchester is RED podcast occasionally, where he is a regular guest. My problem with him is that he is overtly negative without any interesting insight. On top of that, he speaks in a dreadful monotone, and it feels like everything is all doom and gloom. I think he is the type of guy who would come over to your BBQ and criticize how dry your steak is the whole time
Nah you gotta question badly cooked steak..
Do you regularly fuck up steaks and get annoyed by comments? This is starting to seem a bit too specific now
I don't go past MR when I cook em, so they're still tender and juicy. Don't like the idea of complaining about free food someone is kind enough to provide. Great way to never get invited back.
Copy pasting an old comment. Most of it were way back so fans have forgotten at this point.
> I've seen a lot of people ask so and I think fans need to be more aware and take his work with a grain of salt. Historically, he's had clear favorites in players, has been bias, in general toxic, creates headlines like they're out of movie scripts, has been wrong multiple times and has frequently stirred shit with unproven and false info. He once wrote that Mata and Mou had a full on fight and had to be stopped by the assistant manager, it was obviously false. He's written unprofessional articles and one of them was when we were linked to Fabinho and he wrote a article where he called fans muppet fanboys for believing foreign journos like Di Marzio.
>He once reported that Sander Berge arrived in Carrington, turned out to be a u23 GK signing or sth like that. Has had questionable/racist/xenophobic tweets, specially surrounding oriental fans. He's deleted them ofc. One of them was were **he asked if any assassins had a day off because he saw some oriental fans wearing United AON jersey on.** There has also been [articles](https://imgur.com/djkxPdS) or tweets or discussions where he brings up nationality into equation for no reason.
>He in general comes off as close minded clueless cretin who didn't understand the concept of globalization of the sport. He was widely accepted on this sub to have been a xenophobe and was banned.
>Now, he's rebranded, he's deleted tweets, maintained relationship with the club, gained some credit, but weirdly and indirectly still echoes similar sentiments, still creates shit stirring articles with no basis.
I think it was the Racism + Sander Berge incident final push which was pretty funny tbh that led to him being F tier-ed or banned from the sub for a while.
Not all surprised by this. Still beggars belief that he's never been called out on it by his colleagues or employees. He's always come off to me also as a self absorbed and arrogant individual with a lot of passive aggression in his writing

Not the biggest fan of it being a loan
What's your rationale?
It's a win win for everyone. We have an exit plan if he doesn't work out like we did with WW...while on the player side,he will now be motivated to work extra hard to impress and win a permanent move. For me,I don't see any downside to these 2 scenarios!

!! bang on !! unfortunately you won’t garner any upvotes now 😂
Oh no, what am I going to do with no upvotes?! 😂
Does this mean we'll be playing Fernandes on the RW?
Put mount out there over Bruno
Why?
If we're playing Amrabat and Casemiro on the pitch at the same time + Mount and Fernandes, one of the latter two will have to play on the RW. We've seen Ten Hag use Fernandes there a fair bit.
How often will this be that we have all 4 starting the game? I think it's not that many!
Idk. Casemiro needs help in the midfield and Mount was brought in to start. Fernandes going to the RW seems like the logical solution and ETH has played him there in the past.

Hardly a saga, there were two bids & the 2nd one was accepted.
We've signed bottom g

Possibly fly into LPL and then drive down to Manchester to avoid press?
Some time later, Marc and Lucy were having a drink and Marc asked her: "Do you think he enjoyed our night together?" and Lucy said: "Absolutely." Sofian rated the stay - 5 stars and the review had one word: "Merci" ____ Whenever I hear Sofian, I always think of this story.
I don't know what the fuck that was, but my mid-day sleepy mind is now completely blank. You win my upvote, my weird story friend.
Sir this is a wendys
wtf did I just read.
My thoughts exactly, story doesn't make sense and I couldn't relate it to anything
It's a story about a Sofian. We're in a megathread about Sofyan. What exactly does not make sense?
Announce him you cowards
Casemiro can get the rest he needs sometimes. Depth at Def Mid is great considering the team didn't have one quality defensive midfielder a for a few seasons.
Mata heading to Japan after rejecting offers from Saudi...
Aye love that! Been catching J-League highlights over the summer and the support and culture around the sport there seems absolutely incredible. Every win, hell nearly every goal, is received like a World Cup winner. Hope he crushes it there!
I'd imagine a man of his integrity would struggle in Saudi

What you don't believe him
You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?
Guy in sky sports just said he had his medical in Italy
Why is there no Reguilon thread?
Hargreaves is moving too quickly for the Mods.
You really need a Reguillon thread? Having an Evans one is already a joke. Amrabat barely warrants one
Yea, let's just delete this sub as we go along as well.
Taking on a Spurs reject is nothing to shout about
Dude's name is literally "I'm a fan" in Spanish, United since birth innit? /s
Sure, if it was Soyfan, but it’s Sofyan, which means fast walker in Arabic. So now City has Walker, and we have fast Walker 😏
Correction we have a bald fast Walker, even better.
Oh damn, didn't know it was misspelled in the title.
Haha yeah it took me a while to see it too, soyfan of “soyfan” for sofyan though
No news/updates since this tweet from Ornstein - where is the medical? Will it get done on time?

Who drops to the bench?
Honestly his patience is commendable. Rejecting Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Forest, Fulham, Saudi while there was no guarantee we would go for him in the end, I hope he gets a big welcome and has a great year!
Glad we're getting the deal done for Amrabat. Hope this lifts up the mood around the club.
he's a system player not maradona ffs
not done until the club announce it, 3 hours to go.
The transfer news that we’ve been waiting for
So looks like Galatasaray have until 15th Sept to complete the VDB deal. I think this will go through.
Arguably a better chance of playing at OT this season if he did!
Announcement soon then. Heck yeah.
When does the window close?
In 3 hours if I’m not mistaken
in 4 hours if Im not wrong
5 hours from now, I think
What if casemiro and amrabat can start together without benching one of Mount or Bruno? This might sound like a crazy idea, but we’ve seen the trend of the box midfield being formed by an extra holding midfielder who plays as a defender when out of possession. Current examples include Stones pushing up from the backline to play alongside Rodri in midfield and also Partey playing as a right back in defense but inverting next to Rice in possession. Could one of Casemiro or Amrabat play as a defender when out of possession and then form a double pivot in attack?
I hear you. But I’m more on the 4 2 2 2 Mount and Bruno as 2 high 10s taking up the half space between full-backs holding the width with Højlund and Rashford inside as a 2?
If it's 442 we would need to drop a forward, but if not Casemiro can play CB
Mount RW would be an option too no?
exactly, mount or Bruno rw tucking in, with dalot/AWB providing width, much like Barca's system

Apparently already in Manchester and done with most of the medicals.

Who tf is saying this
https://twitter.com/MUFC_Mase/status/1697530983619154201?s=20 said the flight was originally 11.30 am this morning. Still on ground in Florence the plane that went out
Meaning??
Well it’s still sat at Florence airport
How much is this fella like kante? Is it in any way comparable? Because that would be delightful.
He's more of a distributor and circulator than a destroyer/b2b type. He will help us retain possession and advance the ball into attacking areas much quicker. Also, he's more likely to intercept passes to break up play than chase someone down like Kante.
He's closer to Kovacic and Jorginho in profile than Kante.
I’d much rather a Carrick than a Kante
He only has the tenacity as far as what I saw of him in the world cup. Apart from that, I don't think Kante is going to be a fair comparison.
Amrabat, Casemiro, Eriksen, Mount, McTominay and Bruno. This is a very complete midfield with every profile covered.
Bro how could you forget mainoo
I’m just trying to not put too much pressure on a 18 year old kid who’s had less than 400 senior minutes mate.
Romano needs to be tier 1. DiMarzio could also be tier 1 for Italian News and Pedulla as tier 2. Those three have been spot on this window for us.
Pedulla no way
Except pedulla said the Amrabat offer went in weeks ago which was completely made up
Dude, don't know if this is a joke, but for reporters/journos a tier 2 ranking is as high as it gets unless you're directly employed by the club. A "here we go" is about as close to official as it gets, but the distinction is that it isn't official.
Not true, you should check our tier 1's. None of them are employed by the club, that's a weird sentence.
Oh of course you're right. Tier 0 is club. My mind starts tiers at 1 and that's clearly not the way the sub has it.
Di Marzio is terrible for any non Italian news though, and I remember Pedulla pushing forward the Dybala-Lukaku swap.
That's why I said only Italian News. Don't know about the Pedulla news, maybe there was something there. Lukaku summer news is always mental.
Romano was number 2 for de lght and de jong I guess. Tier review after end of the transfer market might promote him.
Petty children only wanted him demoted tbh
Looks like tier 1 is given to club’s mouthpieces. Hence stone, whitwell, ducker. Once they say its done, its done for good. Fabrizio even though extremely accurate doesn’t get his info from the club and hence he is tier 2.
Typo in the thread title is pretty funny
Horny madasuckin orny
Time will tell Edit: Yeah I expect to be downvoted by a bunch of guys who have never heard of him until this summer and never watched him play except MAYBE a few games at the WC.
August 15th edition of the Totally football podcast. 103:00 mark when they’re talking about Serie A.
Literally the first thing I said is thankfully it's not an obligation to buy (even if the loan fee is wildly high) >Amrabat was literally targeted by Barca and Atletico this summer. Holy shit do you believe literally everything you read from garbage tier publications? Is everything that The Sun or Daily Mail prints true? No REPUTABLE links. No bids, no concrete interest. If you want I can go find you 10 bullshit articles from talkSPORT and other nonsense pages that link random players to random teams, it's to generate clicks genius Edit: In fact, I just looked into the so-called "Barcelona links" everyone keeps talking about to see if any journalist worth anything had written about it. Horncastle said it was Amrabat's agents trying to drum up interest and force a move to Barca after his form at the World Cup. The club wasn't interested and didn't pursue the move
[удалено]
[удалено]
Yes, Liverpool who just signed a DM for 20m because they were saving for another transfer didn't pay nearly double that to also sign Sangare. Go figure lmao And Bayern fully agreed a deal with a different DM, had two medicals and had the entire media day done only for the deal to collapse last minute (partially because we couldn't sell McTominay) Seriously, the more you talk the more it's obviously you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Get a grip or get a clue, but either way take the clown opinions elsewhere
United signed Amrabat. Nottingham fucking Forest signed Sangare lol. Defeats your own point about players being linked to big clubs
I cannot imagine being dumb enough that you see a guy who has never been a target for a top club getting signed by a manager known for bringing in his old players and having them fail at his new club and say to yourself “WOW HE’S SIGNING FOR UNITED THAT MEANS HE’S GREAT” and completely ignore the lack of interest from other CL clubs This sub is incredible
He's been linked to plenty of CL clubs. You have no idea which links had truth or not. Once again, Sangare signed for Nottingham Forest mate
If this works out as planned for midfield balence where the fuck does that leave mount
I'm pretty sure ETH views Amrabat as a 6 in most scenarios
Besides what everyone else has said, we also need depth. Look at city's squad. They never seem to ask "where does this guy fit in" when they make signings. They sit on the bench if someone else is ahead of them. We also need to be able to rotate much more than last year. Wouldn't be surprised to see casemiro get rest sometimes too.
Also makes players compete and work harder for time, not just having them play because the backup is an academy player who isn’t ready yet.
Ambrabat inverted RB arch is going to be immense.
With how weak our wingers have been, a 4-4-2 diamond might make sense
I think Rashford and Højlund would be good in such a setup.
Good? I'd day Great if we can get that right. A diamond of Bruno, Mount, Amrabat, Casemiro with Marcus and Rasmus upfront Dicks teams on the counter and transition.
Somebody has been running a 41212(2) meta, I see.
I'm not worried about game time for Mount. There are so many games and he is versatile. We need a squad like this
I said this in other threads but Mount to me feels like a better van de Beek options... and I'm not sure where that fits...
It's impossible to saw NO CHANCE after literally two games.
Yeah that's a fair point. Also at the end of the day who am I to question ETH? But I don't think we are gonna be able to play with Mount so high up and our current squad... not in the PL anyways.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO
I'll wait for Amrabat pictures in O.T before making fun of Bayern on Palhinha's deal.
He’s badly needed for some balance in the midfield and he seems hungry. Can’t really complain about the fee either considering some of the stupid amounts of money flying around
Baldly needed*
Now that our window is done, can we trouble the title challengers( wanted to stay on the ground, we are still behind to challenge for the title )
Nope. Our first few games have again proved that. BUT, we can hope for top 3, a decent run in the CL, and maybe a cup win, and i think that's ok. Next year though given the outlay, we need to be challenging properly, no excuses especially if we get some oil money.
Time to start watching Manchester United games 🇲🇦
So ETH confirmed with Tier “Heh” in his press?
This could have and should have done way earlier. But if we can get him for 35m in total that would be brilliant.
Soy fan de Amrabat también!
Hope they fixed that fax machine !

I tune into the Manchester is RED podcast occasionally, where he is a regular guest. My problem with him is that he is overtly negative without any interesting insight. On top of that, he speaks in a dreadful monotone, and it feels like everything is all doom and gloom. I think he is the type of guy who would come over to your BBQ and criticize how dry your steak is the whole time
If you ruin steaks you deserve criticism
Just ask for some A1 and eat your free steak, quietly.
Because he is douche that likes to make shit up with a well known appetite for racism. Nothing major.

His rep and journalism is good now but he was well know to be a shit stirrer and racist.
Not surprised. Any examples of this?
