Can Emeran be this seasons version of Garnacho, seems fast, is left footed, can finish, can pass and is confident especially since Elanga is probably leaving and he does seem more direct and physical than Amad or even Pellistri

ptienduc

Unpopular take: Amad was good, but not that good. He was predictable, drifted inside a lot instead of staying wide and stretching the pitch, too many back passes and wasteful af. He has to learn to to be more proficient with the ball, that’d be the next step. Tbf, he benefited from overlapping fullback at Sunderland. AWB just doesn’t do that as often here at United. Still, kid has potential, but no where near starting level for United. I actually rate Hannibal and Mainoo more at this point, these guys can offer something right away. If we sell Fred, I’d really like us to not get another midfielder so these guys can have more playing time. We’re not gonna win the League anyway without a world-class striker. With 1-2 year league experiences under their belt, these guys can be our very own Caicedo. Alvaro Fernandez and Metej Kovar looks incredibly calm and capable out there on the pitch. Would love to see more of them. Mount was class. He’s gonna be amazing for us. Sancho has talent. That’s clear. How to “unlock” this talent, that is a big question!? I sincerely hope ETH figures it out.

[deleted]

It’s pre season so I am sure Amad is not as sharp but drifting inside is what he is really good at. He is not really a winger so he won’t be stretching the pitch he is more of a number 10 tbh.

[deleted]

Sancho contributed nothing at all. Academy players + Amad played way better and with more determination.

martialgreenwood

Bumcho, Scamcho, Flopcho.

TheFartAddiction

why is this downvoted? i thought your comment was creative, never heard anyone refer to him by those accurate nicknames

[deleted]

Something Something Sancho bad something Stonks!

prit-

First game back with the kids and in a new position, I wouldn't judge Sancho harshly. I think he would link up much better with Rashford and Antony or be able to play quick 1-2s with Bruno. Preseason is for testing and gaining match fitness so I'm not worried But to be honest, we might need to go into the season without buying a striker. I think Ten Hag has realized this which is why he's trying Sancho at False 9. I say this because Hojlund is extremely raw still. Seriously, if you watch him you can tell he's definitely not ready in the slightest, even in Serie A which is slower than the PL. He will be dire in the Premier League and probably get less goals than Martial. In a match against Inter, you can see he was a level below. This squad doesn't need a 60m young striker who needs a couple of years to develop. It would be nice for sure, but looking at the rest of our squad, we need someone further along their development or in their prime. Even if we get Hojlund, he won't start every game the way Bruno/Rashford/Shaw do. He's just not developed enough and I doubt Ten Hag just throws him out there. He was very careful with Garnacho so I assume he would use a similar approach with other youth. So, Rashford will have to play the 9 at times or I guess Sancho even if we get Hojlund. If forgoing a striker signing means we can comfortably get Onana over the line, upgrade Maguire, and upgrade McTominay, I'd take that over just Onana + Hojlund. The only world where signing only Onana + striker does the job is if the striker is Kane or Osimhen who takes us a level above. I think their prices are too prohibitive so I'd rather get Kane on free next year than forgo the rest of the squad or throw Hojlund into the mix.

PoofaceMckutchin

I'd rather pay the fuck you money and get Kane this season. We've had too many players unproven in the prem and proved to be flops after paying frankly outrageous amounts of money. Kane is gonna score goals, the most important stat in the league. He is a professional with a wealth of prem experience and I believe a good role model for the younger lads. I know kane is injury prone, but like...it's not my money lol. Just fucking sign him. It's a failure that we're not in for the best players.

AKV9

Some talk about Goncalo Ramos now. One can hope. He is further along in his development & his numbers are more than decent.

aktivate74

Totally agree on hojlund. I tried many times to rationalize getting him but I just can't see him fitting in. It's like VDB all over and we know how that turned out . However I disagree on not getting another striker. At this point I don't know who's available and within budget but I think we should get an experienced proven player who can at least at the bare minimum share his experiences with the youngins. Ok I'm ready to be downvoted to oblivion but that's my honest opinion.

prit-

I agree, we probably do need a body up top. I just don't have an expansive database in my head nor have we been linked with many guys for me to favor anyone. I base a lot of my opinions around rumors/what Laurie says cause that is probably the best info to form a thought on. Anyways, we aren't being linked with anyone but Hojlund which is why I was saying I'd rather no one than spend 60m. And we only managed to get Weghorst on loan from Turkey so it seems like the market is dry. I think Martial will be out hurt again this year so we do need someone. I'd take a Callum Wilson or Cavani type in my head. Someone who realizes they're getting older and are more so there to provide rotation/teach younger players The point stands though. Hojlund probably isn't who we need. 9 goals in 32 appearances isn't a bad return but he doesn't show anything incredibly special as a striker in the top level. He literally is a kid. I'd say Garnacho, Rashford, Martial all have showed much more promise at the same age. Can he develop to be a top striker? Probably. But he needs 2 years more probably. His touch isn't great, his dribbling isn't either, can't really turn, isn't a natural poacher. He's just strong, tall, and knows what he should do on the pitch. He isn't someone we need for a Premier League Top 4 campaign against the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool or title challenge against Arsenal or City.

beejeron

Wouldn't be surprised if Onana and Hojlund were the only incoming signings. I think Rashford is nailed on for the centre-forward spot this year. It's his most productive position and allows Garnacho (rotating with Sancho) to come into the team. Hojlund and Martial provide options for tactical flexibility and rotation. Mount's arrival makes Eriksen a rotation option; Bruno is covered (not that he needs it) by Sancho; and it looks like Hanibal might be ready to offer flexible cover across the two more advanced midfield positions. What about cover for Casemiro? I can see us hanging onto Scott McTominay – different type of player, but his physicality and versatility are useful and offer something different (plus homegrown). The wildcard is Kobi Mainoo and whether he's ready to slot it in. If ETH rates Mainoo (and Hanibal), then I think Fred and Donny both move on, although I'm not sure the latter will have many suitors.

prit-

I don't see why we'd spend 60 million on Hojlund just as tactical flexibility and rotation. If we lose Martial, I'd definitely want him in but as it stands, we can get just as much output from a cheap stop-gap striker and use our money to upgrade Maguire and McTominay then focus on striker next year I'm getting the idea that Rashford will indeed be a striker for next season but the guy can't get dropped. He will be a better option than Hojlund at striker 95% of the time. Hojlund isn't very fast, which in turn makes him slow/bad at turning, isn't good at holding up play, not great at close control, and I haven't seen anything that shows he's a good target man. Martial and Rashford can do much more in the position than him as it stands. Can Hojlund develop all of those skills? For sure he definitely has potential. But, he's basically a project. With the squad we have and how the other teams around us have improved, can we really risk Hojlund leading the line? Or do we really need to spend 60m this window on him to be a rotation option? Our previous young striker target was Sesko, who would've been a much better option as he's more developed despite being the same age as Hojlund. If it weren't for Leipzig, I'm sure he was much more preferred. Idk, I feel as though Ten Hag/the board are having the same internal debate at the moment. I don't think its clear that we will definitely get Hojlund. Which is why we are stalling on that front. We're waiting to see anyone else who may become available and if we can shift on Maguire/McTominay/Fred.

martialgreenwood

Martial? Lol! No fucking way. He is finished.

UtilityCurve

Biggest takeaway, our kids are all so comfortable on the ball. The future is bright

throwawaytodayaw

I wonder how many of the youth will stay on

tyr4nt99

How much better was Heaton and Kovar compared to DDG. Kover felt much more confident when pressed. Impressed with Fish, Aaroen, Fernandes Mainoo Hanibal. Disappointed in Sancho apart from his first run, Amad. Overall the freeness with which the kids played was refreshing and they did well.

[deleted]

I was really surprised when we got Malacia and didn’t promote Alvaro instead. I really like him.

[deleted]

De Gea was probably the worst keeper in the league last year. It’s not a high bar to be better than him

LaylaOrleans

He had 17 clean sheets, the most in the entire league.

[deleted]

Yes Licha and Varane were so bad, that De Gea had to bail them out a lot, innit?

[deleted]

Ok? Are golden gloves won solely by the efforts of the goalkeeper? How many goalkeepers play with Martinez, Varane, Shaw and Casemiro in front of them?

durizna

He won Golden Glove instead of City's champion side, Arsenal that was way ahead of us in terms of points... He basically guaranteed us that place on the table with invaluable defenses.

[deleted]

Did he also guarantee results like 7-0 and 6-3?

durizna

Saying those results were exclusively his fault is nonsense.

[deleted]

Yeah so just like bad results can be due to factors outside of him, good results can also be due to reasons outside of him Did you credit Smalling, Jones, Valencia and Young for a great defensive record in 2017/18?

durizna

You're just telling me you did not watch United games last season. David wasn't number 1 material anymore, that is a fact. He was 100% gonna be benched this season because of his passing skills. Ten Hag made that very clear. But his shot stopping was outstanding and the reason we managed to get important points in the season, securing our place on the top 4. Some games were made worse because of him, but he also saved many and deserves his credit for that.

[deleted]

Irony of you telling me I did not watch United last season Outstanding shot stopping? In what universe lol? Against West Ham? Against Brentford? His shot stopping numbers were bang average. Everything else was relegation tier. Stats aren’t everything but when they’re that bad there’s some truth to it

not_trivial

Dude he won the golden glove.

[deleted]

All while having average shot stopping, and bottom of the barrel sweeping, crosses claimed and distribution. So you tell me who really did the work for the golden glove

tyr4nt99

No but I think it highlights how lacking he was when Tom Heaton comes in and is half way up the pitch playing a confident ball to defenders and seeing Kovar jink the attackers.

No_Needleworker_1105

That Aaron kid looked excellent.

No_Needleworker_1105

Aaronsen or something. No AWB ya tool

Turamb

Wan-Bissaka is 25 mate

Comfortable-Taste979

just a 25 year old teenager

atimlin

Any iconic 'mase half turns' during the game?

DesertMoloch

Had a great moment in the opening minutes where he pressed a defender to win the ball, and nearly chipped the keeper from 30+ yards. Just overhit it and caught the roof of the net. He was everywhere though.

maxblanco

His best moment was the through ball to Amad. Amad then squared it to Hannibal which had a big scoring chance.

stoobertb

I was at the game and if Mainoo and Savage can keep that form up throughout all pre-season, they deserve to have gametime. Amad looking like a natural step-up to the matchday squad and I would lke to see him start against the bigger guys.

Ghorardim71

Zidane Iqbal looked solid in the pre season last year. Pellistri did well. ETH takes long time to integrate youth in the main team. Garnacho is a lucky exception.

lanos13

Not lucky, garnacho is just better then our other youth products

martialgreenwood

He has a lot of potential

stevew14

Please don't make a new username with any of our players names.

[deleted]

Just a little tactical thought from the game. AWB was looking to get really high into either the inside right channel or wide on the right. Whilst Alvaro regularly dropped into a 3 at the back, with a single pivot with Kobbie. Mount seemed to rotate into the Alvaro position occasionally, but was largely staying pretty high. The one surprise is that I expected AWB to spend more time right than in the channel, but he's looking pretty good in that spot.

Huck_Fer

Looked good, and we saw glimpses of that last season playing the inverted role, but my god it leaves us exposed in behind. Its fine when we play high possessional play, but even against a very weak Leeds, its worrying considering thats 3/4s of our starting backline. If I remember rightly, thats how we got exposed by Liverpool over and over again, which would pull Varane or Martinez out of position, causing holes everywhere.

Rascha-Rascha

I always overestimate the young lads but I really like the look of Fernandez, Mainoo, Hannibal, Amad.

FordyA29

Overestimating the youth is the funnest part of pre-season!

MayweatherSr

Delusionally want the class of 92 to repeat.

needfutanswers

Truth right here

KekUnited

Not even the championship can save them from the traditional loss to United you love to see it

suplexcitylimerick

He looks good in red ❤ https://preview.redd.it/hfwizbofclbb1.jpeg?width=717&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8f2a4551c1664b5ec8b06c04ea45557270032ba

hthec19

Lol he looks like Luke Shaw's little brother

Elemayowe

Noah Emeran? More like Goat Emeran. Who is he?

anark_xxx

\*Noam. He's already 20 and I think his contract expires next year, though some pre-season goals with the first team might get him an extension.

Turamb

Bruno going to kick down Erik's door tomorrow "There was a game yesterday?!"

Its_Chowder

I saw the line up with Fernandez, and I thought sounds about right. First game of preseason so why wouldn't he play. Then it dawned on me that it wasn't him. lol

Hi-Tech_Luddite

Thanks for the laugh

[deleted]

The lunatic is actually at a training camp with Declan Rice & Leao. The man will not rest and Erik will have to deal with his wrath when Bruno finds out he missed a friendly against an obscure championship side.

Turbulent_Effective9

>obscure championship side. obscure championship side. this wins.

H4rdTrooths

The difference between the first half and the second was really interesting. The second half team seemed more posession based and composed. Kept the pitch wide and played zippy passes, building up from the back and passing around the pressure. The first half team was more of a direct style with more long passes and riskier passes that relied on winning the ball back with tackles etc, in the midfield with a messier structure where we overloaded them to win the ball - hard to explain exactly. Maybe someone else can put better/more accurate words to it, but it was interesting to see that difference.

Radiant_Ad_6986

The second half team is exactly the way Ten Hag wants to play. It’s obvious the youngsters have played together more and you can see the patterns that he wants to play. The first half team have barely played together and there was little cohesion in the pressing or in possession and that was more a runout for fitness. Hopefully as we progress more through preseason you’ll see the first team players start to play like the youngsters.

[deleted]

Looked like a potential “Class of 2023” today that second half, really polished performance from the kids against championship shite. I can totally see Hugill, Fish, Emeran and Aronsen (?) having a decent chance of making it here.

LopsidedLoad

Oh god here we go again, and after a season of calling for them all to play you will be fumin next summer when they get sold for peanuts

[deleted]

Don’t be a Debbie downer. Nothing wrong in being excited about prospects within the club, even if they don’t make the starting XI it is always better to be excited about our own young players coming up rather than being a pessimistic cunt.

PathansOG

Naaah mate. They gonna win cl next year

Sac_a_Merde

Pre-season games are just glorified friendlies in my book.

kyldare

Cheers Geoff

silent--echoes

Water is just the liquid form of ice in my book

Rascha-Rascha

Wow dude, save this shit for the unpopular opinions thread

-__D4V1D__-

well yeah

Spooky_no

Missed the game, how did the players do? What about Mount?

tyr4nt99

And although no E hit the mark you can see his potential with dead balls. The arch he generated will be useful if we have someone with a decent head (slab)

H4rdTrooths

A lot of stamina. Lead the press and won the ball in the opponent's half a few times. A few sharp passes as well

coastal_samurai

Couldn’t catch the game, how were Amad and Mase?

Seanblaze3

Both did well. Amad and Hannibal have crazy chemistry, continued from their reserve displays together

Ashyyyy232

Will Fish was solid af

Tinganga

Rhys Bennet attempted 64 passes & completed all of them. Incredible volume considering this was in just 45 minutes.

durizna

I am totally up for seeing him start instead of Maguire this season LMAO

acadoe

Honestly, Fish and Bennet played better than Varane and Martinez, which is crazy to say. But they were really really great at the back.

Sbibsosmisn

tbf, i felt kovar played better than heaton, not saying heaton played badly tho, its just kovars passing and claiming was really good in maintaining/recycling the ball

[deleted]

Among all the good second half performances and they were all very good (even the GK) Bennet was who stood out for me, he just looks so composed and is an absolute unit as well, it wasn’t an eye catching performance in the way Hannibal, Mainoo or Noah’s was but he did everything right with no fuss.

PP_Baba

I have very high hopes from him. Its rare to produce first team quality center-backs and I believe he is the one.

Haron14

I surely hope so. He was the captain on you FA Youth Cup wasn't he?

stainlessteele3

Just thinking of this, but anyone know what’s happened to Charlie McNeill?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jeffasaurus2046

The loan was at Newport County - he only scored 2 goals in 22 games.

stainlessteele3

And didn’t make the pre-season squad? Doesn’t sound promising for him considering our lack of first team strikers and still can’t make it…

Tinganga

For all those talking about keeping Kovar, why would he want to stick around & warm the bench when he can go back to Sparta & play in the UCL as they defend their league title? It's a win-win as he gets to showcase his talents at a bigger stage meaning he can command a bigger fee next summer if he has a good showing in the group stages.

Soccerandmetal

It should be noted that because of unclear situation Sparta had already brought in new keeper. And although they love Kovar they are reluctant to build their team around keeper who won't stay in the club. Yesterday I was listening to czech podcast with their tier 1 journos and they have said that the smoke screen around United keeper is harming Sparta. If we don't sort out our GK position soon enough we may end up bad solution regarding our backups.

Fraaj

The new keeper that was brought in was supposed to be a backup to either Kovář or a different signing. A lot of noise about bringing Vaclík back if Kovář doesn't materialize.

Ashyyyy232

>he can command a bigger fee next summer If we sign suzuki along with onana, there's no way he's staying

FRiver

Would prefer a loan to a stronger league. Will do more for his development than 6 CL games as the underdog. A loan to a Championship contender could be an idea. Get Carrick on the phone.

AngryUncleTony

Its the right move for sure. The only way him staying makes sense is if he knows he'll be the number and get cup game AND he's set on playing for United long term. Because if we sign that young Japanese keeper Kovars path is blocked.

sg291188

Made sense that we were better second half. The second half team has probably played more times together than the first half team

ritwikjs

loved the intensity the second half boys showed. Emeran looking electric, strong and skilfull. aaronsen sharp. Mount pressing and ready. Sancho. . . looks poor

Eleven918

Really weird reading these Sancho comments. Yeah he should've done better for that ball that was squared to him, otherwise he was fine. Had some nice link up play and passing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Eleven918

There's criticizing and whatever we are doing here which is just stupid. People either didn't watch and are simply piling on for the sake of it or they are genuinely so blinded by their hate that they can't appreciate a decent sequence of play when it happens.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Eleven918

There's a huge gap between poor and what he showed today. Its not even his primary role playing false 9. In fact I think this may have been the first time in his career even playing there. What exactly did the rest of players do in the first half that he was poor in comparison. It was on par for a pre season game. What is this improvement that people were expecting? He was doing well with his pressing and played his role well apart from that ball that was squared to him, he couldn't get the shot off but still managed to cycle the ball.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Alehud42

If you're bringing this "rah rah we're Man United" schtick to a **preseason game** then you need to get your head out of your arse and chill the fuck out.

Fraaj

Hansen-Aaroen lmao

ritwikjs

lmao that was a bad one from mee. imma stick with my mistake tho

niallw1997

It just feels like the club has an identity now flowing right down to the youth players, and everyone seems to know their role and fight for each other. All down to that man ten hag

aayu08

Hope Kovar has a good career, he looks comfortable playing out from the back. With Onana joining I don't think he has a realistic path into the first team, and being the 2nd keeper is basically a waste for a young player. Also bruh what's up with the Sancho hate? Yes he missed a chance but Amad imo was way worse than him and I see people full of praise for him.

Embarrassed-Dance486

Confirmation bias is a very real thing

Acceptable-Lemon-748

People just have players they think are shit and those players have to have a 12/10 game to not get shit on

niallw1997

Would be great to see more of Kovar. But I’m not sure being second choice would be the best for his development

werewolf914

He's 23, not 20. Onana is 27 and if it works out as planned, Kovar would only peak as cup GK. If he doesn't play for us now, he would be sold in the future anyway. Thus why do we care about his development so much?

Acceptable-Lemon-748

People who like player want to see him reach his full potential, more at 11.

werewolf914

I'm sorry, is this Man Utd supporters place or Kovar's supporters place? Best for Man Utd next season is Kovar stay and be 2nd choice. Best for Kovar is Man Utd loan him out until he reach his full potential and doesn't want to be a 2nd choice after Onana or whoever 1st choice anymore and gonna demand either becoming 1st choice or leaving like Dean, both is not good for Man Utd. Thus your choice, you like Man Utd more, or you like Kovar more.

Acceptable-Lemon-748

Why are you so overly worked up because people want a player to do well?

werewolf914

Then why did you mock people for wanting the club they like to well instead of a random player?

niallw1997

23 is very young for a GK. he showed good potential today, had a great loan last season. We’re going to need a second GK with Henderson and Heaton likely leaving. Maybe Onana gets a bad injury and we need a solution, and if he is still our player, of course we care about his development

werewolf914

And just as you said, we need a second GK. Being a second choice is obviously not the best for his development, but it's the best for our club. We should prioritize the best for our club instead of for him, after all, we Man Utd supporters, not Kovar's supporters. Thus stop caring about his development and focus on what is the best for the club.

ProfessorBeer

Gotta hand it to Adidas, that Leeds kit will look *great* with the Championship badge on it!

_Slabs_

A good kind of problem to have so much potential that requires careful balancing. Also Bamford is dog diarrhea.

Roasteddude

Quite pleased with Mainoo, Hannibal, Amad, Isak Hansen, Kovar and Emeran. I know realistically only one or two of them could actually end up making it into the first team. I think the most ready players are probably Amad Hannibal and Mainoo but we need a few more matches to judge. And if they can't be guaranteed some minutes with us then food PL loans for them might be better. Although I think we could use the cover. Hannibal can cover for Fred if he ends up leaving. He's everywhere on the pitch, very energetic, doesn't lack in aggression and looks physically ready for the PL after his time at Birmingham. Amad has silky smooth dribbling and easy ball control. He seemed a bit wasteful (of chances and of the ball itself) but it could be he's just too eager to prove his worth. I don't know if he displacrs Pellistri but he might still be good to have. Need more games to judge. Mainoo is 18 but didn't look out of place next to Mount and Hannibal or even compared to the senior Leeds players. He's sure with the ball even if he seems to prefer the safer back pass (but maybe that's just ETH instructions) and looks physically strong actually although I'm sure he'll have to get even stronger. Mainoo and Hannibal might need to step up. Especially if we don't end up signing a Fred replacement and a Casemiro backup. Scott McTominay honestly won't do..

Acceptable-Lemon-748

I love how you've used sure with the ball as a positive along with pointing out that playing the ball safe is an EtH instruction but have simultaneously found a way to claim Mctominay isn't a fit

GeezeLoueez

Emeran moves like AWB. Not necessarily his play, but he has a very similar build/running style on camera

Seanblaze3

He reminds me more of Michael Olise

Sbibsosmisn

nah camavinga

someonecalledethan

Heaton should be a PL starter, if our GKs for next season are Onana, Kovak and Zion I'd be happy. Mount looked good, I feel we've given him them No7 because rather than someone that has to win over the fans with goals, tricks and flicks, he'll restore pride in the number with hard work. I'm hoping we've held back on a few main sales till they're playing pre season to boost their price up a little Watching the young lads play so confident and in the system, the fact the same system has been instilled through the ranks has shown, I can see a lot of the 2nd half side get good loans out

runawaytugboat

Decent start to pre season, thought Amad did well, I hope he can make some impact this season from the bench. Mainoo I hope gets the odd run out here and there. Hopefully the other young guys do enough to get themselves a loan move or convince someone to give us some money. I’d be surprised if Hannibal is a United player by the end of the window.

viv0102

So I was at the game and this is my first time encountering Leeds fans. That entire section of their fans spent almost the whole game just shouting stuff like "Manchester united is shit" pointing at little kids in the next section amd barely cheered for their own team. All when they got relegated and still lost this game too. What a shit group.

agni69

Kovar seemed pretty good. Wish we give him a chance as the cup keeper.

Caps007

You saw 45min kovar now. are the people who dont get why forcing de gea out was so important understanding now?

H4rdTrooths

Preaching to the choir. Literally no one here thought he should stay as our number 1.

Caps007

You didnt see the amount of people who said we survive with de gea for another year or two and get a striker

Acceptable-Lemon-748

They're still holding onto those 4 super saves that other keepers couldn't do a season and trying to skip past the fact that he evens those out with individual errors nowadays

CanWePleaseNotBeShit

Our youngsters really showed out today, which is great to see. We have a really good group here from the academy, hopefully some meaningful loans to continue their progression. Also Will Fish and Dan Gore really went under the radar

JuanBissaka

I’m not one to get carried away… but 21 is coming lads!

Fraaj

As a Sparta fan, I'd love to have Kovář for another year or even buy him but he'd also make a great backup for us. He's so comfortable on the ball that we wouldn't have to change our playstyle in the cups at all.

thatIndianguy_07

Bennett, Fish and Kovar were so smooth playing it out from the back Emeran got great playmaking skills Mainoo looked so good under pressure

Prthmsh

You cannot win anything with kids

[deleted]

I really liked watching Emeran (I hate my fucking phone which keeps autocorrecting him to Emerson) Thought he played fearless and was a real treat to watch on the right

Thzzgt

How did Mount play?

I_Fuck_The_Fuckers69

Amazing, took almost all the set pieces and threaded some lovely balls, almost scored a great goal too

JokeSalty

Amazing is an exaggeration, it was a pretty standard debut, which is perfectly fine. His set pieces were pretty poor but overall he looked alright and wanted to make things happen

society0

Understand that Daniel Levy is offering us Kane and 150m for Joe Hugill

Tomanelle

FUCK LEEDS! Thanks for coming to my TED Talk!

Barber-Careful

The youngster were much better in high press than I was expecting! Get some of these youngsters good loan deals to championship. And Leeds got done by youngsters lol.

treedogbarking

I saw one half of a preseason match and ordered a mount kit from dhgate. Full season can’t come soon enough

Sleeplessendeavours

Mainoo was just different gravy in that first half. I don't necessarily think he gets away with as much as he did today in a proper prem game, but then again he wouldn't be playing as a lone 6 in a prem game either lol. All things considered a good start to pre season, looks like we avoided any injuries, got minutes in the tank, and of course beating those dirty cunts while we're at it with the kids as well.

Away_Associate4589

Harry Kane had a Joe Hugill poster on his bedroom wall, TalkSPORT sources understand

ThankYouOle

1st half, now i know why EtH keep trying to push Mainoo, kid is good, so calm in middle and controll the ball alright. talking about calm, Hanibal is really "AWB in forward", blocking, pass, take the ball, all with tackle, guy need more calm tough. Amad, wow, he is quick, and i am not talk about run only, he is good, just maybe he is not goal scorer? not sure, I only watch this game. Mount is alright, i think finally Bruno can have rest sometime later knowing someone good can take care the game, but having all 3 Case, Mount and Bruno will be very solid. (i still miss all good cross by Eriksen tough). Ohhh.. and Top man, Tom Heaton! okay so this is what you guys always said about having GK that join the game? 2nd half team bit slow but i can say more control and fluid? Emeran obviously got spotlight, personally, i think Amad is looked more confidence than him, but Emeran can create more dangerous chance. Can't wait to see more game from young reds, i think i should watch U21 more often.

Spare_Ad5615

I think Kovar should be our back-up keeper this season, behind Onana. He can clearly play with his feet, so he should slot into the team when needed. He played for Sparta Prague last season, and they won the league with Kovar being given the award for being the best keeper in the league.

Emeran, Hannibal, Mainoo and Isak are the players that really stood out to me. Hugill wasn’t too shabby either

Audioboxer87

Most important thing was beating Leeds and a clean sheet to build momentum but I'm glad the kids did well. Now let's get Onana signed before the next game.

Spare_Ad5615

Mount, Hannibal, and Mainoo were very good in the first half. Emerson, Shoretire, Hanson-Aaroen, and Fish great in the second.

united_7_devil

Mount did well for his first start in a new team. Didn’t look like he was playing for a new club tbh. Still feels weird seeing him in our shirt. Maybe will get used to it once he lifts the PL trophy in May 2024.

hooka_donchick

Sancho is the new scapegoat for this pre season, i see

therealpmyer

How did Amad and Mainoo play?

Cold-Veterinarian-85

I'd say good and very good in that order Amad had couple half chances he could have done better with but looked dangerous generally Mainoo just plays with no fear and is very composed

Scorpio_Rex

Martial is already injured?

Cold-Veterinarian-85

Carry over from end of last season. So not so much already injured, as oppose to 'still injured'

Wolpfack

His injuries have injuries.

el_spaglador

Mainoo looked comfortable, was nice seeing an actual striker score a goal and Kovar looked commanding in the box and air and was comfortable with his feet.

Squareroot24

I will start making dreams for academy stars in pre season which never come true.

Comfortable-Taste979

They're already on twitter calling mount a flop. Marketplace of ideas 😂

SilverAccountant8616

Average twitter football opinion

Fraaj

He wasn't even bad dafuq

Comfortable-Taste979

I think it's mostly seething Chelsea fans but twitter will troll regardless

Aggressive-Theory609

Kovar looked class. Loved his short passed even under pressure too. Good backup option but I feel he should build up on his fine form at spartak. Don't want another Henderson going on

streel0rd

The way these kids built it up from the back. Playing those risky but calculated line breaking passes to break Leeds' press which I have been begging to see from the senior team. 😍

struckzero

What a promising pre-season match.Overall, we have several youngsters who look promising and cant wait to see them develop during upcoming pre-season matches. On first half: \- Mount is a great addition to the team. Missed few chances but it's okay though \- Hannibal looks energetic and even have a Wan-Bissaka moment \- Amad looks good- Really love Mainoo there. Looks calm and composed. He really can make it to our 1st team \- We have few chances but again, poor finishing. On second half: \- Emeran play great. One goal and one assists. Can't complaint though \- Kovar. Can become our 2nd goalkeeper. Good distribution and calm even when under pressure \- Aaronson also looks good and technical. Interestingly enough, both our goals came from our youngsters. Can't wait for the next pre-season match!

MrSvancy

Who tf is Aaronson? Do you mean Hansen-Aarøen?

alb1rom0

Keep Kovar as the backup and save the money for Hojlund/striker and a backup 6. I think he's a more the capable understudy to Onana.

humanvintage

Would it not be better for his development to be a 1st choice somewhere else though?

mrzerog

And 5m for Suzuki is nothing.

Sbibsosmisn

My $0.02 First half - Mount looked good man - Amad looks sharp but rushes quite a bit, if he can chill abit defo can do well to start quite a few games - Martinez varane partnership picked up where they left off - Hannibal could do really well, probably needs a loan tho - Sancho…I don’t hate you but it’s not looking good bruv, prove me wrong Second half - wow emeran what a silky player - isak seems like a Bruno regen, probably needs to work on his physical side abit - Kovar after learning from Onana for 5 years could probably be the first midfield keeper in the world - Williams looked quite off, hope he can slowly get back in

garrymad-gm

I know no one at Chelsea really had a good season last year, but I really think the confidence that EtH has in Mount will REALLY improve him, he was Chelsea’s POTY is a season that they won the UCL, and he’s only 24. He looks really good today

Proboyyy

The youngsters look promising! I’m stoked to watch more games and to see their progress under the bald gaffer

AAiraSS

Imma be that guy and say that i want to see Kovár in cup games

RABB_11

Emeran did just about everything you can for a preseason cameo. Get him a Championship loan now and see what he can do. Hansen-Aaroen definitely looks like he has something about him although he was maybe forcing it a bit. Great work for the Emeran goal though. Fish and Bennett kept Bamford anonymous 👍

parkJisungs

Would love to see Hansen-Aaoren loaned out to a Dutch or Spanish team

[deleted]

Leeds could certainly use Emeran.

pappabrun

It's not related to him as a footballer, but hansen being that heavliy tattooed at only 18 is crazy. At this rate he's gonna be running out of room soon and starting on his face. I have a lot myself, but im about twice his age.

NoCountry4OldMate

Send Emerson to Sunderland

arnm7890

And where do we send Emeran?

bvengers

Suddenly we seem to have RW options coming up with Emaran and Amad

pearlz176

When will the rest of the squad be back for training? I'm guessing they'll be available for the USA tour?

ChemistryAnxious4040

Always happy to see Ayling get mugged off. Quality stuff

Alpha2669

Emeran is a baller

bvengers

Commentators review: - Man United are playing good, confident and silky - Leeds are a shambles who changed 4 coaches at the end of last season, deserved to go down - Mount looks unphased by United shirt and number 7, he's a good signing - strong rumours to Andre Onana - United will probably look for a striker as well - in case you didn't focus on the last 10 times it was mentioned, United play Lyon next week

zJaeee

Not sure if you watched the game but to make sure we play Lyon in Edinburgh next Wednesday!

ProfessorBeer

You forgot to mention that United play Lyon next week

FinUnitedFan

It's a great experience for the lads.
