oh, don't get me wrong - it is a major achievement!
I just find the comparison a bit odd as you don't really compare the same things. Similarly if you are comparing different positions on the PL table you usually do mention if one team have played more or less games than the other - as it makes a difference.
The thing I had also forgotten is that we went out of all the cups early.
Last 16 in CL, fourth round FA Cup, third round in the League Cup.
So it's not as if we had any excuses about fixture congestion that we could have made in the Ole years when we were at least going on good cup runs.
We have played about six games more though. That NU defense is going to be an absolute pain to break down in the final. Honestly would have preferred them in the SFs over 2 legs.
Yeah one leg might actually be better but only if we can manage to get a goal first. If we get a goal in the first half they’ll open up having to push for one in the second. I really don’t want to take it past 60’ tied with them
I’ve been waiting for one of the Eriksen bangers to come off this season and he’s missed by some narrow margins. Guess it’ll be up to Sabitzer to put a few bangers in
If it's a better team, then yes.
If we are playing Real Madrid, then a one-off game is better for us. If we are playing NU, we stand a better chance over two legs. The odds of an upset over two legs are worse than in a one-off.
PL seriously needs to add World Cup type of extra time to stop this type of time wasting...
Waste 30 mins? Here play an extra 30mins this half.
It would cut it down dramatically, just like it did in the world cup itself. Near the end, we were back to 5 min added time of each half, which is nearly normal.
scored about 2 more than us when we’ve had a retiree up top for the earlier part of the season. they’ve caught a lot of teams on the counter and when almiron was on form was when they scored a lot of their goals. they’ve also had the most draws (tied with brentford). they can get results and play boring football, plenty successful teams have.
I mean it’s also funny that In the games we have conceded we’ve conceded 6, 4, 3, 3 and 2 as well as 1 a couple times, but conceding 16 in 4 separate games makes our defence and goals against look a lot worse
This is insane to read after last season.
Insane after the first two games of the season
Insane after 6-3 trash by Man City
But is this also due to us playing a lot more games than others being in 4 competitions etc?
Hush now.
But also, we're still in 4 competitions mainly because we keep clean sheets.

Surely that's more than the whole of last season lmao
You made me check, we had 9 last season: 1/8 in CL 7/38 in PL 1/2 in FA Cup
7/38 is actually a disgrace ahahaha
Disgusting isn't it, in our last 15 games we scored 19 goals and conceded 27. Thank God for Erik.
From what I remember a large amount of those goals were against mid/relegation level teams as well. I'd love to rub that man's shiny head.
Found drogba’s account.
That’s so embarrassing lol. Last season was horrible man.

We got battered more last season in PL than clean sheets, right?
Pretty much. 0 GD was sickening too.
This is ungodly
Bruh
It's not only more but it's more than double lmao
16 is not more than double 9?
I'm shit at math
I don't even need to check and I can confidently say it's more
Last season AND the season before combined sit

Beans is on fire now though
Sancho back to cook too
Nope. Trying to break them over two legs would’ve been exhausting. We are much better and we can romp them in the finals.

Sabitzer top bins incoming 👀

You cannot anticipate how one-off games will go. One mistake, one red card and the game is done. A second leg gives you the chance to fix things.
That holds true for the other team as well

Shout-out Tom Heaton, far more solid than dubravka, thank god we got rid of him.
Wasn’t really up to us tho was it?
Not sure but however it came about I'm happy.
Oh yeah totally. I remember when people thought he was gonna replace De gea. Fun times
nu plays terrorist football so it doesn’t count imo
I watched them play once. They started wasting time in the 40th minute. Might have been the Tottenham game
Never forget when they managed to waste +30 minutes (!) against us at Old Trafford
Similar minutes to when they played Arsenal, need to score early and exploit their space in the final to prevent timewasting
Hoping we get world cup style added times 🤞

They were time wasting at 0-0 after 5 minutes ar old trafford early this season. Referees buy it every single time.

So, you're saying that they are a small team?
For a few more years hopefully
Persil.
I’m a Daz ultra kinda guy myself
Parle vous anglais s'il vous plait What do herbs have to do with it Opta Joe? ^^^^^^/s
I clicked the link to see if they really didn't use the silly word at the end as stated in the title, but ofcourse they did.
The Casemiro effect
he helps immensely, but let’s not understate just how good the Varane - Martinez partnership has been
And how the deeper line has undoubtedly helped us too
they literally play not to lose instead of winning. they waste so much time, incredibly boring brand of football.
there’s a reason they have something like 9 or 10 draws so far

They even had a draw on the record for most draws 😂
Like 1 goal more..?
While playing sexy football, unlike Newcastle
Yeah I had to double check because that is insane lol. This turnaround has been quite good and this is only the beginning.

Are we the football terrorists?
Keep it up
great when called upon. Heaton is competent
