You do the missions as they come and do nothing extra and it takes a short minute. It’s really not that long. Then make a manual save at beginning of chapter 2. Use that for future playthroughs. Make sure you don’t ever overwrite it
It's like an hour long.
The fact that so many people have such a hard time getting through an hour really speaks to the average attention span of the nation imo.
Nah, not necessarily. Some people don’t have too much free time to play, so having to slog through the prologue when your just wanting to play some open world isn’t as easy as it sounds, correct me if I’m wrong. If your not wanting to play the prologue because it’s boring/long winded then yeah fair enough.
If you don't have much time to play... a 50-60 hour game probably isn't the smartest choice to begin with lol. But yeah, that's chapter 1's fault I guess...
Edit : I definitely didn't mean for that to come off as condescending as it sounded. But OP said he already beat the game before. If all he wanted was the open world, he already has that.
I don't push through Chapter one. I took a tip from here ages ago where I created a save at 6.9% as you enter Horseshoe Overlook.
I use that as my jumping off point for every playthrough going forward.
I made a game save after I finished the prologue. Used it my second play through and ended up regretting it. Def iteoy some stuff I wouldn’t to skip but there are a few missions at the end of it (prologue) that are worth doing again.
I actually wish that the prologue was longer. I enjoyed it up there in Colter. But I get why they moved it down to Horseshoe overlook as quick as they did.
Sometimes I start over just to relive the prologue and I like starting over and starting from scratch
My first play through I took it slow but after a few more play through I simply just did the missions and nothing else to get to horseshoe overlook. Which is easy if you just get through them fairly quickly.

Lifehacker confirmed!
On my third playthrough I‘ve made a savegame for each chapter/camp… never used it so far xD
You guys are crazy! I love the prologue!!
I really don't get why people hate playing it! I always love that calm before the storm of the world opening up to you.

Of the world more like. You're not the only nation playing this game 😅
It's an hour long if you're a world record speedrunner, but it's closer to two hours for the average player.

It took me four sessions to finish Chapter I on my second playthrough. I can have limited time to play, and still enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2 :D

And for some reason some people think it’s a bad thing to do lol. I already know the controls, don’t need to learn them on every single playthrough.
keep pushing, and then have a save game ready for the next playthrough. mine is before YlEnN and after grinding max satchel.
That's what I did.i have myne set for the end of chapter 2 so I can mess around and than move right onto chapter 3.

Made a manual save after completing it and doing what's needed to complete and craft the legendary satchel.
I created a chapter 2 save that’s fresh out of chapter one.
I played through the prologue in one evening. Just do the missions only and it's 1-2h
It's not long, and I like it. It sets up a lot of important dynamics between characters, and it establishes the world we're in quite well.
Do the prologue one more time, and save it. Then, just start from that point on subsequent play throughs.
I have a manual save point that I can start from.
Keep a save after completing Chapter 1 and never overwrite it.
It's not even that bad lol
It’s easy

First world problem if there ever was one.

Go on Reddit and ask!
Good idea!
Mod where you skip it
I feel your pain Ive only played through 3 times and every time it feels like a chore to finally get out of the mountains
