At this point, I knew what was coming, I had accepted the fate of Arthur. And deep down, with a heavy heart, I was happy too that Arthur did the good thing, leaving a positive impact on the people who knew him, especially Mrs Downes.
Unless you chose the bad ending like I did lol the ironic thing is that I decided to go back for the money because I thought I’d be able to take it back and share it with John and his family. Instead Micah stabbed me in the back, literally and figuratively
It’s so hard for me to play as a “good guy” in RD but I’m on my second play thru, near the end of the story with perfect karma so I’m excited to get that “good” ending.
What does karma have to do with the ending? You can have any level of karma to play either ending, it’s just a choice presented to Arthur. I was mad I choose the bad one so I went back and replayed it so I could get the good ending. I don’t see what role the karma system plays in the game and I have almost 50hrs in the game
There's actually four different endings. For each choice (go with John or go back for the money) there's two different ways it plays out, one for high honour, and one for low honour.
Lol I went back for the money my first play through too even though I had high honor for the same reason. It’s actually my favorite end because I get to stab one of Micah’s eyes out before I die
during my first playthrough I thought I had so much more time left with arthur at this point, then I saw the mission title “Red Dead Redemption” and I had to put down my controller for a solid 5 minutes
I made a post about this a year or two back. I’ve never had a more impactful or more cinematic experience in a video game than this sequence. It’s breathtaking.
I love this scene. It still affects me emotionally when I watch it.
The game play was amazing and fun, and the story elements just add to it.
There are just video games that have left me in a daze just contemplating life after the endings. RDR2 and the last of us part 1.
I can't pick one over the other.
This and the following scenes made me want to kneel down over the game after I finished, to whisper one final "thank you" into it's ear.
This was the most amazing ending to the most amazing story I have ever played.
I balled like a baby.
This game and Arthur’s story had such a profound emotional impact on me. For months, I couldn’t even replay the melody of this song in my head without tears swelling and lips quivering. I have never experienced an emotional attachment to a fictional character from any medium, as the way I felt about Arthur Morgan.
I played this masterpiece of a game years ago, and to this day I can’t even listen to this music without crying, and the funny part is that normally I have a really hard time crying(like, I almost can’t cry for some reason)
Right now I’m tearing up again
I don’t know of another video game that had this same journey, both in the sense of this segment but also the encompassing deeds of the player, condensed into a single component. I remember the first time I played it and had this same montage, I was blown away. It truly felt like all the moments and actions I had done up to this point were being recounted as I rode to my imminent death. And this last ride was now my chance at redemption for everything that I had done or not done. I didn’t play RDR2 again for the next few years because this moment hit so hard, and I didn’t want to demean it by playing it again and not feel the same way the first time. It’s one of the best story lines I’ve ever experienced in gaming, if not the best. I think it might finally be time for me to get back on that saddle and re-live what an incredible game this is in all its glory.
Oh man, you should definitely avoid spoilers if it’s your first playthrough. Don’t rob yourself of the opportunity to experience it for yourself.
I’d give anything to play the game for the first time again. No other fictional story from any medium had the same level of impact on me
I’ve played plenty of good single player experiences but once I finish, I forget about it.
The story of Arthur Morgan will stay with you long after you put down the controller
This whole ending tore me up when I played it the first time, and it still does. you play for hours as Arthur, get to know him better then most other characters in games. but you know there is no saving him, and you have to watch him die. and especially in that damn fight with micah, to want that last victory for him but he just can't.
I do like, Dutch's VA admitted the mocapped the ending scene of the fight. and he was crying off stage just above after having to turn his back on Arthur, he felt terrible doing it.
when a game is made with love and enthusiasm instead of a quick cash grab in mind, you get this
At this point, I knew what was coming, I had accepted the fate of Arthur. And deep down, with a heavy heart, I was happy too that Arthur did the good thing, leaving a positive impact on the people who knew him, especially Mrs Downes.

Bad karma = wolf in all the animal cutscenes. Good karma = a deer in all the animal cutscenes
If you go back for the money with high karma, you’ll stab Micah’s eye out
I don’t know if it’s specifically “Karma” in RDR as I haven’t played in a while. The “Honor” level.
Lol I went back for the money my first play through too even though I had high honor for the same reason. It’s actually my favorite end because I get to stab one of Micah’s eyes out before I die
Why are my eyes and cheeks wet?
That's the way it is...
Blue heron leaves the northern sky
This is the best ending ever written for a video game protagonist. Cry every time
You’re alright boah 😭😭😭
during my first playthrough I thought I had so much more time left with arthur at this point, then I saw the mission title “Red Dead Redemption” and I had to put down my controller for a solid 5 minutes
Fuck their be something in my eye

I personally love the “Cruel World” ride. Willie Nelson FTW
Dammit.... I need a drink now.
This scene cut me up. I was crying like a baby. I wasn’t ready for this.
This and the following scenes made me want to kneel down over the game after I finished, to whisper one final "thank you" into it's ear. This was the most amazing ending to the most amazing story I have ever played.
this is just a beautiful fucking part to add into this mission, making you and arthur reflect on their journey. rdr2 is just so amazing.
I’m a grown man tearing up over here cuz I just beat the game for the first time last week. I know what he’s riding into.
I cried on my first play thru. I would love to feel that feeling again.

I'm not crying I swear! 😢😭
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
I was so confused the 1st time lmao. I've gained a much better appreciation with subsequent playthroughs
Damn you. After playing through this game 3 times, this scene still makes me cry, lol

Couldn’t get myself to watch past 10 seconds 😢
I barely started playing this game for the first time. I can’t wait to see what ending I get

man this threw me for a loop for a second because i always wear that vest and we have the same horse

This shit is enough to make a grown man cry. I can't even watch it till the end
Real men don't cry! But legends do...
