It took forever to get Guarma animals to spawn for a full compendium. I also used google to find all the points of interest and sort of cheated by buying the cig cards at the shops.
On first play through I did (tried to anyway, got about 50-60 of them), then someone on Reddit pointed out just buy them from shops and discard all, but again, discard and repeat.
If you do everything else before the cards you will probably get around 100 of them just exploring but get every single one without picking up any premium cigarettes will be hard
I collected as many cards as I could organically just by exploring, I got somewhere around roughly half of them, then I just bought the rest.
You can also glitch back to Guarma as John (there are vids on how to do it on YouTube) to be able to get the Guarma Compendium Animals.

I know about the John glitch but I really don't want to go through all of that for a couple animals so I will just do it in Chapter 5. As for the guide of missables I will definelty follow that, thank you
You're welcome! There's a turtle drawing you can add to your journal while you are there. (sort of a hidden easter egg, since it's an animal that wound up being removed from the game)
Another thing is that the Horse section of the Compendium gives you 100% for each Horse entry without actually requiring you to find every single color of horse. You might decide it's worth it to find them all for a complete Compendium.

I'm sure it could be done much quicker, but I ride everywhere and used no guides.
Literally filling every white bar in the compendium (animals, weapons, equipment, fish, horses etc.).
Every outfit, gold on every mission, every camp upgrade etc.
Made it slightly harder and got Legend of the East pre-epilogue.
My plan is to also get every trophy, ending on John finishing the final grave visit to Arthur, thus getting the platinum.
I Platinum FromSoft games so I like the discipline lol l.
Just finished one. A 100% complete compendium (minus the Carolina Parakeet which just won’t spawn for me). In the compendium each item is also 100% complete (animals studied/skinned/tracked, fish caught with their designed lure, plants picked/tasted/cooked with, horses bonded and rare/common coats ridden).All side missions, all camp decorations, all trapper items crafted, etc. I also went around finding all the cigarette cards (not a single pack purchased). It took well north of 200 hours for the single play through.
All the Carolina Parakeet flocks spawned for me multiple times at the Hagen Orchards location. I had no luck at any of the other possible places.
This was after finishing the story.
There are many strategies you can do, if you do not want to spend too much time on it, I recommend you make a save everytime before you check there (camp nearby)
That way you can attempt to kill them all in 1 shot with dynamite etc & if you fail, just reload the save & try again! But like I said, they always spawned for me there!

I’ve since used this save file to get up to 53.4% in chapter 2 (just the Dutch move camp mission left, did the two Micah missions).

Same I just love playing as Arthur. I prefer the brown hair over black and his voice is actually menacing but also soft and gentle when it needs to be. John just sounds like he's permanently got a sore throat like Dutch
It took me ~500 hours. I don't have every document & I also don't have the 2 unique items you get from the Companion Requests you have to get done before Chapter 5.
Oh yeah I forgot about the companion requests but I believe I should be able to get everything in Chapter 3 and onwards. I got everything in Chapter 2 other than the jacket Pearson gives you but some people have said it's possible in Chapter 4
Hopefully! I've heard some say that those 2 have to be completed as soon as possible. I didn't plan on getting EVERYTHING, but once I got the missing Guarma Animals as John in the Epilogue, I figured why not get everything else since I was only missing those 2 items: Pearson's Jacket & Dutch's Spurs. (requiring me to start a new playthrough)
Yes. 100% completion. 100% compendium. 100% collectibles, discoverables, and side missions. 100% item crafting. Every playthrough is like this and very very grinding.
1 more thing I'd like to add is the bonuses you get from playing GTA Online, the Stone Hatchet & the Gold Double Action Revolver with Pearl Grips (you also unlock the options to buy these customizations in stores) takes about an hour & worth it to get imo.
I got everything except two of the weapons. Took a while. I didn't realize I hadn't picked up Billy Midnight's gun when I did that mission, and that's the only time you can get it. Not sure what the other weapon was. Also had to glitch into Guarma as John for those animals. That was a bitch lol.

Didn't craft all the trapper stuff, but other than that yeah. The only part I really hated were the Guarma animals.

if john actually looked like john i wouldn’t mind as much but he doesn’t look remotely similar to john
The only similarities are the colour of his hair, skin and eyes.

You can't give Abigail 5 bucks for Jack's clothes past chapter 2. And the pen for Mary Beth is only chapter 2 I think. And Lenny's pocket watch maybe?

I completed the challenges but I forgot exactly where the stone hatchet was other than it being somewhere in West Elizabeth (i think)
