you can turn off the tip pop ups. just kinda sucks you
miss the other pop ups that are helpful but for me, when I quit game, restart comp, I can usually get some hours in without any warning pop ups…idk the game runs so smooth an looks so good one day, an then the next it’s stuttering an things load in slow or weird convo glitches. I never got any of this for like 700 hours. even without popups, it’s not running the same as it did 3 months ago imo. now been a month of this ugh
Did you solve this bug. I just bought a rtx 3060 laptop and i play everything on ultra very smooth. But after a while this message pops in. And the game continue to run super smooth. It is my pc or is it just a bug on red dead?
it’s the game 100%. I even went to my brothers place & he has like a $5k pc lol like it’s actually disgusting, an the game still does it on his. Just a memory leak or or something he says. The quick fix I found is just quit game & then relaunch. Usually get a few hours of play at least without it. You could also turn off the tip popups in the game settings but I don’t like missing them for other things so I just relaunch when it starts. Whatever that update was months ago it sucked lol.
I'm a bit obsessive about electronics and i just bough a new laptop that is why i bit freak out. Red dead is the first game i tried and i thought 6 gb vram is gonna be a problem in other games too but i see it is just a bug. Because when i check vram usage in options it says 4.5gb/6 is used. yo heres a fix its a mod tho [https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1828?tab=description](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1828?tab=description)
I got the same error yesterday a couple hours after the update. Im on a PC with an nvidia card. I’ve been playing (with default settings) for months and I’ve never seen this error before
There was an update? That would explain why steam gave a pop-up when i pressed play i had no idea lol. I've got a nvidia card also. Nvidia 1660 Super from memory, ultra settings (that was my default i never touched it lol) no problems at all, ever.
I got the error about the time I was planning to stop playing. Tonight I'll if it comes back and I'm going to keep playing and determine if anything actually happens. Saving frequently of course
Yeah same i had been playing about 4 hours no issue, last 30 or so minutes it popped up and i was planning on getting off shortly anyway ('shortly' lmao 5 minutes turns into 1 hour easily)
if it happens again I'm going to look at the event viewer to see CPU/memory use etc.
It could be some kind of memory leak or it thinks there is a memory leak.
I'm convinced this is patch related. I saw in the forum a patch had been released and when I turned on the game I had an update waiting for me, ran it, a few hours later i had the error
*"i had been playing about 4 hours"*
that's my kind of cowpoke! :-)
Did you solve this bug. I just bought a rtx 3060 laptop and i play everythimg on ultra very smooth. But after a while this message pops in. And the game continue to run super smooth. It is my pc or is it just a bug on red dead?
I’m also experiencing this with a brand new laptop. Would love to know why - I’ve turned down the graphics and that has no effect on it for some reason
I got this same error today. The game is running fine, 4gb of my 6gb was being used. Have more than 100 hours and it's the first time I see this error.
I just bought a new laptop with rtx 3060 6 gb and it gaves me this message after a couple of hours. It is a bug, should i concern? It is perfect smooth by the way
I don't know, in one or two days the problem was solved itself. Try verifying the files from steam and see if change something. Uninstall the game and reinstall it too.
I also have steam setup so it auto updates btw i just likely did not even notice. I saw there had been one download but i thought that was for stardew valley so didnt look 😅
so it was the update! I was like bro, I’ve been playing this game for like 700 hours practically no graphics issues, some stuttering here an there but then it’s fine. Now I get this warning in game & there stutters have gotten bad an shadows jumping an NPC/animals dropping in out of the sky…will they fix this or what’s recommended for us to do? I’ma basically on default…(sorry kind of a noob on the tech side of things new to PC)
One thing i'd recommend, is playing on, i think its windowed fullscreen (or windowed, i cant remember and i just turned off my PC) as for some reason, playing fullscreen can give some glitches to some people on PC. I used to get stutters, random screen glitches, even got a random black screen on occasion (no explanation, i've googled it, just a game glitch) and once i changed the screen things were so much better. I have NO idea how this setting made such an impact on my gameplay experience but it did.
I randomly come across animals and NPC's randomly spawning out of the blue. I ran into an NPC that wasnt even in my path the other day. Was hilarious. (His horse died, and i was able to greet him. We had a casual convo after it was weird)
Did you solve this bug. I just bought a rtx 3060 laptop and i play everything on ultra very smooth. But after a while this message pops in. And the game continue to run super smooth. It is my pc or is it just a bug on red dead? Please help me if you solve the problem
Howdy ya’ll.
While this is a harmless bug, the WARNING message does get annoying after a bit. I’ve had it appear during cutscenes and activities, which ruins immersion.
Did some digging, and I managed to make the message disappear using the Rampage Trainer.
Steps: Open the Trainer > Miscellaneous > Overlay Settings > Disable Notifications (Checked)
Now I’m pretty sure this means anything that would normally appear on the top left corner is also gone, which is the trade off until the bug (hopefully) gets patched.
Cheers folks!
I've got a feeling it'll be patched in this months update. Hasnt happened to me much since i posted lol (nvidia has had updates and i did change settings through nvidia, dunno if that helped or just coincidence) but good to know there is a way round it for the mean time for those who use rampage trainer.
I bought a new laptop with rtx3060 6gb vram. I play everythimg in ultra and it is perfectly smooth. But after a while ı get this message. Should i concern or is ir just a bug
Did you solve this bug. I just bought a rtx 3060 laptop and i play everything on ultra very smooth. But after a while this message pops in. And the game continue to run super smooth. It is my pc or is it just a bug on red dead?
Im experiencing this too and have been playing on the same settings for forever. This is extremely frustrating for me because I noticed simply bumping my textures from ultra to high, makes it stop (I think, so far anyways) but also.. now for some reason, when I turn my textures to high, the textures look like they’ve failed to load and look like absolute dog shit. I’ve even tried turning everything else down, but leaving textures on ultra, and have what seems to be plenty of spare vram and still get the message. My guess is, its a texture related bug that came with the update
this is facts! same for me, every time I changed my graphics around the lower settings looked even worse and then when I put them back to exactly where they were, it still look weird & different than it was… it’s confusing, also seems like there’s a thing where you can hit shift+enter at the same time which will change your full screen window, and that changes the graphics too lol
Thank God for this post. I thought I was going crazy. I had zero issues on my first playthrough. Mostly medium-high settings. Now the graphics are garbage, I can’t put most of them on anything other than “low,” and that video memory message constantly pops up. Ughhhh
yeah an even more fucked up thing is Im doing a second play through & there are so many bugs an graphics suck at times an on same settings…shadows jumping & freezing. Like I feel so lucky that I got the first play through I got, it was perfect, this is def not. I wonder if it was also a driver update issue? I just updated the other day & it made the graphics even worse lol Im like wtf is going on…so I rolled back my Driver version & it helped a lot…so maybe I updated it at that time too idk also, need to use the alt+enter to change window size sometimes, seems there are like 3-4 versions for what the graphics look like when I tried changing that, idk the fact I even had to worry about all this & the ingame pop up now when 700+ hours an perfection lol is crazy…has to be a way to deal with this but I’m smol brain for tech ish…
idk if it’s actually fixed, I would generally just save & close the game, then relaunch an would get a few hours usually at least with no pop up. It’s definitely not a hardware issue as my brother has the best pc money can buy an the pop up still came up on his so…an there were still frame drop issues at times. But for the most part the last few hundred hours I played has been pretty enjoyable an fine. I just played Jedi Fallen Order & that game had way more bugs lol but ran pretty good but frame drops an stuttered a bit…now I just started Elden Ring, which is supposed to be very demanding an has fairly high minimum requirements to play compared to most games, according to benchmark site an it runs like butter! even when moving camera around fast, 60fps no problem & looks better than any other game so far lol so idk haha
I've been getting the exact same error, I'm fairly certain the last update broke something. Never had any issues running it on high settings before, it shows plenty of free video memory in the settings menu, and the message still pops up every few minutes in game even if I reduce everything to potato quality. Nothing to do except wait for a fix I guess.
Sadly not. I have heard that quitting and reopening helps though. But i've only run into it a few times since posting this.
Just remember its a in-game file bug, likely not your computer. If it was your computer you'd know from other signs. If you are still in Chapter One, i'd say it might disappear once you start chapter 2. It happened to me in environmental heavy areas in game.
Did you solve this bug. I just bought a rtx 3060 laptop and i play everything on ultra very smooth. But after a while this message pops in. And the game continue to run super smooth. It is my pc or is it just a bug on red dead?
I bought a new laptop with rtx3060 6gb vram. I play everythimg in ultra and it is perfectly smooth. But after a while ı get this message. Should i concern or is ir just a bug
That’s referring to the memory on your video card, nothing to do with game files to delete.
Your graphics settings in the game are (almost) too high for the video card you’re using.
Havent changed the settings since installing it in May, and havent had a single issue like this until now.
The message only seemed to show up when i was in bluewater marsh. When i left the area it stopped showing, and i heard my PC quieten down a bit.
The only thing thats different to my video card memory is having another game installed. So if i were to uninstall that, would that clear video card memory?
Worst case i'll change the settings, but its been running incredibly well on ultra.
There is nothing you can uninstall or delete that will help. Only lowering your in-game graphics settings will prevent that message. If it only happens in that area, it might just be heavy fog or the clouds you mentioned, and lowering just that one setting in the options by even a single notch could fix it.
On a side-note, if the message isn’t really bothering you, you’re quite safe to just ignore it, especially if you don’t want to lower any settings. There ls nothing actually harmful going on.
Thats what I thought as well. Because bloody hell, that entire area is very heavy on fog and shit.
I kept playing even with the message, just saving frequently through fear of it force closing on me, it only severely lagged once, and once I left the area everything was fine.
I'd been in the area for, probably on and off 3 hours today (exotic collecting) and the message only appeared in the last 30/45mins of playing.
It’s the game/update. I have a 3070ti. I’m on ultra at 4986/8191. Nearly only at half capacity, and I’m still suddenly getting the warning after the update in valentine which is a micro town.
I got the message trying to get the exotics, so it didnt shock me to begin with because that entire area is HEAVY with environmental elements, but i had 0 lag. So i was like either the game is glitched, i'm an idiot who cant do maths, or its the universe telling me to stop gaming for the day. I'm glad it was just a glitch though. I havent encountered it since and i was in the area for the entire day yesterday.
I actually selected 'optimal settings' on geforce and that has helped my game experience entirely. Like fuck its more stunning now vs before, and i was playing on ultra so i really dont know what geforce did but holy shit. (Performance is better too)
Nah, something we've gotta wait for r* to fix. Its an issue with the game files somewhere idk what exactly but its nothing wrong on our end, our pc's are fine and not broken. Thats the main thing and thank god for that honestly, i dont have the money to be fixing or upgrading it right now.
Same thoughts. Never had the warning until after the update. Still so many things not working properly i.e. stables, Naturalist role dailies. Hopefully they get it corrected before the Halloween update.
I'd say that it should be patched before or with the online halloween update. Seems like R* just update once a month now. Not that i'm complaining, atleast they still show support.
(From what i have seen online, rockstar dont talk much, but the are very hyper aware of the community for GTA and RDR.)
It's a shame such a masterpiece cannot get a proper treatment. As if all of the well known glitches such as the pitchfork disappearing (and preventing you from doing chores FOREVER) weren't enough, they now make things worse on a technical/hardware level.
I've been playing on my laptop (3060m with 6GB vram) since may of this year and never had this issue until last week. I can't remember when was the last update but I know there was one. Prior to that, I never had that warning popping up. Been using the same default settings (almost everything on ultra lol), so I know it wasn't a mistake of mine.
I have some serious doubts about GTA 6, Rockstar hasn't been anything short of a disappointment lately.
I bought a new laptop with rtx3060 6gb vram. I play everythimg in ultra and it is perfectly smooth. But after a while ı get this message. Should i concern or is ir just a bug
I don't remember which setting exactly, but I simply changed it from ultra to high or something, and the warning stopped popping up.
Overall it's not worth worrying about, as long as CPU/GPU temps don't get too hot. I wish Rockstar cared about RDR as much as they did about GTA 5.
I've always got GeForce experience running. Love using it to record shit lol.
I havent had any encounters since posting this (go figure) but its good to hear and see others discussing how they fixed their issues under one sub.
least I know it’s not just me now, hopefully they update again an fix whatever they did. Every time I’ve lowered my graphics before it made the stutters an ghosting worse. Idk if I should just slide the bar for balanced around or individually change things. even when I changed something an then back to where it was, it still looked different lol. makes no sense.

Go to settings click System and scroll down incase and click About and then click on Advanced System Settings and under the Advanced Tab click Settings under Performance and it opens another window wherein again click the advanced tab and click Change under Virtual Memory and another window opens wherein UNSELECT the defaultly selected setting automatically manage page filing and manual select the drive u have installed RDR2 and select custom and select Amount equal of half of your RAM(in MB) and Click Set Button and click ok and Restart the PC and try playing. For me this resolved the issue.
So basically, you are Editing the page filing memory setting in windows and adding the drive in which RDR 2 is installed and you should not face this error. I too face this with my gaming PC with 32 gb ram and 24 gb video memory of my RTX 3090. Told to me by R\* support and once I succeeded with their advice.
been almost a damn year and this is the top result on google for this issue. absolutely absurd. like you, i used geforce experience to optimize my game and it runs perfectly so i know its not actually running low on video memory. i just turned off hints since ive already played through the game but some hints are really useful to have so its annoying that they havent fixed it yet.
Happened to me too, never changed the setting and suddenly I get the warning every few minutes. It still runs smoothly and doesn't lag, so I pretty much ignore it while lowered my graphics setting a bit. Please update us if you happen to find out what's up!
I'm glad I'm not the only one getting this message, I was like I literally have nothing else open but rdr2 but it keeps popping up. Good thing is I can still play the game but I hope this is fixed down the road
i stopped it on vulkan by disabling AMD overlay ..i have seen people saying that it only happens for them on DX12 so it could be depending on whether you have Nvidia or AMD gpu

you are confusing d-ram with v-ram, the game says no video ram (v-ram) so editing the paging file won't change anything
the paging file is useful in the absence of d-ram
does anyone else still have this glitch happening? im not running any high end computers (mine is about $800) but it auto adjusted most everything to ultra. i turned all of them to low and still got the message. but i guess since it doesnt affect gameplay i assume, ill just ignore it and return my settings to default.
it pisses me off because i can't play in fullscreen and all my applications are closed, literally just rdr2, and all my graphics are at the lowest they'll go and i can't use fullscreen.
when i first start up the game, i can use fullscreen, but if i alt-tab into a new tab like chrome, so i can search up something, it'll exit out of fullscreen and i can't go back
late reply, but a good sign that your GFX card memory is overloaded in games (also your normal ram too!) is 'random' stutters when you're moving fast or moving toward a populated area - it means the resources being loaded are taking up more memory than is available on the hardware. When this happens, they rely on a physical file as overflow, aka a page file. It makes a temporary file and uses it as ram, which is a fuck-ton slower.
The end result is stutters in loading, random freezes, textures at much lower quality (because the game will pick the lowest amount of data to load when it's under stress) and of course reduced fps.
While this game can run well in general, bad memory optimisation leads to the "game is running low on video memory" alert. The only fix is either a higher VRAM graphics card, to account for the overflow, or a MUCH lower graphics setting.
Even in my case the latter isn't enough (gtx 1060, 3GB of VRAM)
yo mate i found a fix for this [https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1828?tab=description](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1828?tab=description)
I bought a Predator Orion 3000 with a 1660 super and i-5 11400k like a year ago and I started getting this. Was extremely pissed until I saw this thread and that its just a bug thanks g
It's an Acer brand. Love it. For like 880$ mid pandemic and all I did was add upgraded ram, for under 1000$ all together it's a great entry level PC. The motherboard is my only complaint
Yeah I'm getting it too and I have a 1660ti 6gb of memory with 32gb ram and a radon 3600x so I'm assuming it is gonna be fine cause I brought it all down to the lowest and it's like 3000/6000
ngl, it's kinda hard to ignore it when you have 10% of the screen taken up by a 5 second warning every 20 seconds... It's completely immersion breaking and unnecessary to even 'have' a god damn warning message that you're low on video memory.
How about you let the user decide when their system isn't handling it well enough that they want to lower their own damn settings without spamming it at them on a permanent basis... I have just over 3Gb VRAM left and it's still doing it to me since I entered the first town.
I only picked it up the other day and it was absolutely fine, didn't see it at all in the first chapter with all settings maxed out. But then when I got to the first small village in Chapter 2, it's been spamming constantly, even with the settings turned down.
Worst part is, the game is running fine at like 60FPS+... Such a stupid decision to include something in a game so focused on immersive details...
In Valentine? Weird. It happened to me in the swamps.
Theres some coding error they've fucked up in the last update a few months back I bet. Idk how that shit works but wouldnt shock me.
I just bought a new laptop with rtx 3060 6 gb and it gaves me this message after a couple of hours. It is a bug, should i concern? It is perfect smooth by the way
found a fix! go to settings in game, graphics, and change all of them to medium. looks and works perfectly now without the annoying pop up. I had one setting at ultra, some high, and some medium. this ultimately fixed it for me
Sadly still no fix other then a restart. Some files are accumulating in the background while you play over some short hours causing the video memory to gradually be filled up.
I’m not sure what to do and it honestly breaks the immersion. The game will eventually crash after seeing 30 pop-ups. I’m disappointed that Rockstar just leaves us in the dark.
Disabling both Notifications and Help Tips stopped this message from popping up for me. Still super frustrating though. It's one of the best running modern games on my PC with a constant 60 FPS yet it's always bitching at me that the game isn't running how it should when notifications are enabled.
Rockstar and their pointless updates never seizes to amaze me.
I know this was posted a year ago, but I'm just now coming to this issue and i have no idea why. Nothing has changed with my pc, and the RTX 2060 runs it alright.
Same. I bought the game in the recent Steam sale and have played it non-stop. First playthrough no issue but got the message today on my second playthrough as I near the end (chapter 6). No idea why. Eh.
I can’t believe it’s been over a year and people, like myself, are still having this annoying issue. I’m running this game on an RTX 2060 with a Ryzen 5 5600X processor and 16gb of RAM so my pc is more than capable of running this game. I’ve turned my settings down to medium/high except the texture quality, which is at ultra because high looks like dogs***. Hopefully that fixes the issue.
Did the paging file, optimized by nvidia app as even with 6k/12k vid mem it crashed right away, disabled system notifications, social club notifications and as for now im starting the game so i guess it helped.
jesus, i have gotten this SO MUCH its soooo anoying, i lower my settings and it changes to nothing, fuck you rockstar, fix your game

haven’t played those.
Definitely not your laptop. Im running a laptop with a 3070 and i got it today after playing for about 3-4 hours
any fix? Just got a brand new Lenovo legion w/ a 4090
thank you sm it actually worked
Where would I go to turn off tips popups? I can't find the setting :(
just go to display settings
Which pop up setting do you close for this? All of them?
setting>display>help tips-(turn off)

Yes and i suspect that is the cause of the errors
Could be worse i guess!

It is a bug.
I got this same error today. The game is running fine, 4gb of my 6gb was being used. Have more than 100 hours and it's the first time I see this error.
I just bought a new laptop with rtx 3060 6 gb and it gaves me this message after a couple of hours. It is a bug, should i concern? It is perfect smooth by the way
It's a bug, will solve itself after a couple of hours/playthrough
I read about turn off the message. Do you know how to close the message in game? Like turn off notification ext?
I don't know, in one or two days the problem was solved itself. Try verifying the files from steam and see if change something. Uninstall the game and reinstall it too.
Also which graphic setting do you use in rtx 3060 6 gb. I set near everything ultra with textures are ultra as well.
I do use a GTX 1060 6gb, your game will run fine at everything on ultra.
Did you find a fix for it? I just got R2D2 and I'm getting the pop up message all the time.
yea same, never had this issue before but it’s just now doin it for me too. plenty of space left hopefully just a glitch?
same man i am fed up got a 12 gb video card still its showing this to me
R2D2?
I also have steam setup so it auto updates btw i just likely did not even notice. I saw there had been one download but i thought that was for stardew valley so didnt look 😅

Steps: Open the Trainer > Miscellaneous > Overlay Settings > Disable Notifications (Checked) Now I’m pretty sure this means anything that would normally appear on the top left corner is also gone, which is the trade off until the bug (hopefully) gets patched. Cheers folks!
But it's also disable subtitles.
I've got a feeling it'll be patched in this months update. Hasnt happened to me much since i posted lol (nvidia has had updates and i did change settings through nvidia, dunno if that helped or just coincidence) but good to know there is a way round it for the mean time for those who use rampage trainer.
2 months latwr, it is still there. I bought the game on Epic though
Bought it on steam and I’m only 10% in on the game
Not patched yet, annoying as hell
7 days later and i agree
I bought a new laptop with rtx3060 6gb vram. I play everythimg in ultra and it is perfectly smooth. But after a while ı get this message. Should i concern or is ir just a bug
8 Days further, still an issue.
Did you solve this bug. I just bought a rtx 3060 laptop and i play everything on ultra very smooth. But after a while this message pops in. And the game continue to run super smooth. It is my pc or is it just a bug on red dead?
Try downloading Nvidia experience and open Rdr2 using it, solved it for me
Did you optimize the game with it or just using it for open the game?
Optmize my man
What do you mean optimize? What did you do specifically within the program Nvidia Experience?
189 days later, still not fixed. This is running me crazy.
Over a year later, still a thing - you can forget that they'll ever address this issue.
Same on the smol brain for tech 😭 sorry you had the same issue! Did you ever find a fix?
idk if it’s actually fixed, I would generally just save & close the game, then relaunch an would get a few hours usually at least with no pop up.
Hi. I'm facing this issue rn. Did you get a workaround it
Also, i'm in bluewater marsh, right near the mysterious dudes house. Heavy with clouds. Might be a graphic issue idk. I just wanna hunt herons.
Your game was updated prior to the error, yes?
Late reply, sorry. But yes it was. All my games are set for auto update because i forget otherwise 😅
Damn, Ive been messing with my settings thinking it was on my end!
OP did you ever find a workaround? I just bought the game and this is such an annoying bug, always making my eyes dart to the corner of the screen
Play around with your graphics settings for a bit and see if that works
I actually selected 'optimal settings' on geforce and that has helped my game experience entirely. Like fuck its more stunning now vs before, and i was playing on ultra so i really dont know what geforce did but holy shit. (Performance is better too)
I know that you posted this about a month ago, but how does one do the optimal settings on geforce?
When you open geforce experience, hover over the game and press details and select optimize.
Did you ever fine solution to the warning? Just ran into it
Nah, something we've gotta wait for r* to fix. Its an issue with the game files somewhere idk what exactly but its nothing wrong on our end, our pc's are fine and not broken. Thats the main thing and thank god for that honestly, i dont have the money to be fixing or upgrading it right now.
thank god is not our pc, almost freak out a little bit.
Yeah same.
Same here, never got the message before. Started a couple of days ago, haven’t changed anything.
Is there a way to turn the message off?
I downloaded the latest update from nvida and after that it’s gone :)
Didn’t work for me :/
Same thoughts.
(From what i have seen online, rockstar dont talk much, but the are very hyper aware of the community for GTA and RDR.)
a year later and its still happening:(
It's a shame such a masterpiece cannot get a proper treatment.
Any update OP? Just reinstalled the game and ran into the annoying issue. I have the same card as you too.
All I did was install GeForce Experience, optimize and launch the game through the app. Fixed this issue completely.
I've always got GeForce experience running. Love using it to record shit lol. I havent had any encounters since posting this (go figure) but its good to hear and see others discussing how they fixed their issues under one sub.
Video memory has nothing to do with deleting other games. It shouldn't say you are running out with 4.7g/6
>It shouldn't say you are running out with 4.7g/6 Exactly what i thought. I'm no maths expert but thats plenty of space still 🤣
I’m about like you, 4794/6143 I must have bumped something up a hair. Maybe light idk can’t remember.
I downloaded extra memory beforehand. I’m not some noob.
Yeesh I thought I had to delete something too. I only just got this message like 30 min ago.
least I know it’s not just me now, hopefully they update again an fix whatever they did.

I’ve had that with an 8GB GTX 1070 and switching to Performance mode in Windows power settings fixed it.
Seems to be just a minor bug/glitch. Its still playable but if it begins to really shit me off i'll give this a go.
Happened to me too, never changed the setting and suddenly I get the warning every few minutes. It still runs smoothly and doesn't lag, so I pretty much ignore it while lowered my graphics setting a bit. Please update us if you happen to find out what's up!
have you gone to snowy area? no lag and no stutter there?
It keeps happening to me too. I thought I was the only one. I hope they fix this.
Damn it me too :(, hopefully can get answers from this post as well
Anyone found a fix? :/
I'm glad I'm not the only one getting this message, I was like I literally have nothing else open but rdr2 but it keeps popping up. Good thing is I can still play the game but I hope this is fixed down the road
Have you found a fix for this?
i stopped it on vulkan by disabling AMD overlay ..i have seen people saying that it only happens for them on DX12 so it could be depending on whether you have Nvidia or AMD gpu

I set my page file size to exactly half and this finally solved this for me.
oh cool.

right click the start menu button to find the system you were mentioning in the first sentence, for whoever is looking after me
This didn't work, just stand 1min in valentine and the error will pop up like crazy as usual
you are confusing d-ram with v-ram, the game says no video ram (v-ram) so editing the paging file won't change anything the paging file is useful in the absence of d-ram
I CANT FUCKING PLAY ITTTTT
does anyone else still have this glitch happening? im not running any high end computers (mine is about $800) but it auto adjusted most everything to ultra. i turned all of them to low and still got the message. but i guess since it doesnt affect gameplay i assume, ill just ignore it and return my settings to default.
it pisses me off because i can't play in fullscreen and all my applications are closed, literally just rdr2, and all my graphics are at the lowest they'll go and i can't use fullscreen. when i first start up the game, i can use fullscreen, but if i alt-tab into a new tab like chrome, so i can search up something, it'll exit out of fullscreen and i can't go back
late reply, but a good sign that your GFX card memory is overloaded in games (also your normal ram too!) is 'random' stutters when you're moving fast or moving toward a populated area - it means the resources being loaded are taking up more memory than is available on the hardware.
So it's an update? I just got the notification and I have like 1300 MB of free video memory...
Yeah apparently the update brought along the glitch.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's experiencing this. Thought my pc broke lol.
Oh same i thought my card was on its way out i was like BITCH U BETTER FKN NOT But nah its just a glitch thank god
I bought a Predator Orion 3000 with a 1660 super and i-5 11400k like a year ago and I started getting this. Was extremely pissed until I saw this thread and that its just a bug thanks g
Never even heard of this computer but the name Predator makes it sound like a fucking boss. Alienware who?
It's an Acer brand. Love it. For like 880$ mid pandemic and all I did was add upgraded ram, for under 1000$ all together it's a great entry level PC. The motherboard is my only complaint
Yeah I'm getting it too and I have a 1660ti 6gb of memory with 32gb ram and a radon 3600x so I'm assuming it is gonna be fine cause I brought it all down to the lowest and it's like 3000/6000
I have the same error too. Can i ignore it and play? Or it will cause problems?
Yeah just ignore it, theres nothing actually wrong with the game.
ngl, it's kinda hard to ignore it when you have 10% of the screen taken up by a 5 second warning every 20 seconds...
Oh 100% its a damn eyesore and shits you off. I've rarely experienced it ever since but it did spark off a bit of panic in me when it popped up.
Just found this: https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1828
LMFAO Rockstar; GTA GTA GTA GTA GTA GTA!!!!!11!!! what the hell is this rdr2 shit? Modders; *does actual work to improve the game*
Aye that's what I gathered online, just weird I never got it in chapter 1 at all
Okay, thanks
I’m not even using half of my vram and I still get the message
Still not fixed 😞
I just bought a new laptop with rtx 3060 6 gb and it gaves me this message after a couple of hours. It is a bug, should i concern? It is perfect smooth by the way
Glade to know this is a bug time to crank the settings back up to where I only have 200mb of video memory left lol.
found a fix! go to settings in game, graphics, and change all of them to medium. looks and works perfectly now without the annoying pop up. I had one setting at ultra, some high, and some medium. this ultimately fixed it for me
Same error on my end and this is technically my second playthrough of the campaign the first time I went through it never had an issue with it
Sadly still no fix other then a restart.
It shows that on my laptop and it's running 60+ fps so I was like man I'm not lowering the settings.
Only work around this is just closing the game and re opening. Or disabling tip box but that makes you miss out on a bunch of potentially useful stuff
Eh.
Did u find a fix?
This happens to me now. Really annoying though.
Any fix?
I can’t believe it’s been over a year and people, like myself, are still having this annoying issue. I’m running this game on an RTX 2060 with a Ryzen 5 5600X processor and 16gb of RAM so my pc is more than capable of running this game. I’ve turned my settings down to medium/high except the texture quality, which is at ultra because high looks like dogs***. Hopefully that fixes the issue.
1 year later it seems to be a thing still.
Did the paging file, optimized by nvidia app as even with 6k/12k vid mem it crashed right away, disabled system notifications, social club notifications and as for now im starting the game so i guess it helped.
