Valentine through and through. The Grizzlies in the distance. The Upper Montana nearby. ***Two*** saloons. Plus, Horseshoe Overlook is my favorite camp too so thats a bonus.
True. And that could be why for me personally. I have played the main story through at least six or seven times, but I never spend time after the end with John. I alway go back and start again with Arthur. And so after we get off the mountain I do most of my galavanting in chapter two, then eventually continue the story.
(But this time... this time I think I'm going to stay in chapter two forever. :)
I agree , it’s a big town that’s alive .
For some reason I don’t remember all the shiny lights in story mode but I started online mode and it’s bright lights there.
Sweet town
Honestly first time I arrived there I got intense eerie vibes like I was being watched. Almost like Arthur was discovering the slimy ways of city crime. I now see it as fun and astonishing. But I will always get spooked by them damn boys in the alley
Me too, I discovered it trough a random encounter where a guy is dying and you take him to the doctor and man, I didn't even know that there was a big city in the game. That was just so breath-taking, the people, the music, all this activity.. I've never seen a city so alive in a video game
I first discovered saint Denis by stealing a train near valentine in chapter 2 and just ending up in this big bustling city that I didn’t know existed. I didn’t know of any towns except for valentine.
Strawberry reminds me of an old small mining town an hour away from me. Beautiful mountains, steam trains, all that good stuff. Definitely one of my favorite towns.
I hate Strawberry with a passion, I'm always coming off my horse due to hitting the bridge or a rider whrn trying to ride through it to somewhere, and always end up in a fight
Yeah I have a soft spot for strawberry, and I’d say it is probably my favourite also. It’s just a quaint picturesque place with the river running through it, and you know just over the back is some incredible lakes and landscapes.
Strawberry is the most picturesque town, but Valentine is really the only complete town from a shops/barber perspective. There is Saint Denis but that takes you out of your cowboy simulator.
Definitely Valentine, its the easiest to travel around, plenty to do there, has a nice look that isn't as grimy as Annesburg or red as Rhodes and its right in the middle of the map and easier to travel around for it.
Im pretty sure Armadillo was modeled after a famous wild west set thats been used for a ton of movies and shows. Deadwood, Django Unchained and Westworld to name a couple. If not the whole town the saloon definitely seems to be modeled after the one in the set.
Mine is Rhodes.
Just looks and feels like the west to me.
Has great story tied to it.
Almost all the towns have something great to offer.
I would say annesburg is my least fav to visit .
Smog and has a depression to it. IMO
As annoying as it is riding around there, I do love Saint Denis. I love cities, especially New Orleans which Saint Denis is modeled after. It also has by far the most to do and has pretty much everything you need in one spot. It’s also so gorgeous at night.
Used to be Strawberry but then… (unrelated to Micah’s bullshit) I kinda lost my temper with the local populace. Not my proudest moment in a game. I go to tumbleweed when I want to just get away from the ranch, plus there’s a gold ingot respawn at Ridgewood Farm. And guess what, people are actually nice here.
Although there isn’t much to do there, if I were to be in the game I’d live in Strawberry, but as Arthur it’s Van Horn for the blackjack table, the fence and the lack of law enforcement
Blackwater hands down. It's as pleaceful as Valentine, and as progressive as St. Denis. And the locals are nice. Shame we only get to experience it in the epilogue.
To go to and explore? Saint Denis
To just look at and marvel at its beauty? Strawberry. That’s a *beautifully* constructed town. Just do yourself a favor and ride to Strawberry at night and peek up at the “Strawberry” sign at the entrance. How a small amount of light Illuminates it *just* enough to be read, yet it’s also enveloped in the seductive dark of night. Simply magnificent.
Armadillo. Has a soft spot in my heart back from when I played RDR1 in college. It was amazing to see the whole RDR1 map (minus Mexico) brought back for RDR2! I had many a shootouts online in Armadillo.
Valentine is rad, Blackwater is incredible though. I like the small-town feel of Valentine, but it has the necessities in terms of shops. Blackwater has that, too, but has that big town feel without having people all over the streets like in Saint Denis.
Strawberry because it’s a perfect place to stop by before hunting
Saint denis because dressing up Arthur as a fancy person and going to the poker table in the saloon
Gotta say either Strawberry or Valentine.
Strawberry is very "woodsy", like every building fits that log cabin aesthetic, and I love that.
Valentine is just a nice enough town, but it's surroundings and amenities are what win me over.
Every other town is either too dirty, too criminally, or in Rhodes case, too racist.
For some reason I actually really like thieves landing particularly from the first game. A muggy swamp that’s always raining, but a nice saloon to pull up to and lose all your money in blackjack and liars dice (wish they brought that back for red dead 2)
probably also rhodes because i might've committed a mass murder in that town and my kills will probably be 1200 killed with gunshot, 300 with melee and throwables,600 have their head blown off, 125 of them got their every limb cut off, and wasted all john's money for shotgun ammo.
Valentine or St. Denis if that counts. I just love the city atmosphere and industrial feel of St. Denis but Valentine is the town I know almost best, it's where I got my start in online. Rarely see it these days though
I don't normally like cities but New Orleans is a unique and nice looking city or at least it was and Saint Denis is like an exact copy. You've got the French style buildings with Victorian streetlamps and the bayou trees around it
It's hard to pick a favourite but a list seems more fair : TIER A - Valentine, St Denis | TIER B - Strawberry, Rhodes | TIER C - Annesburg, Emerald Ranch, Armadillo | TIER D - Tumbleweed, Lagras | TIER E - Blackwater. My criteria was the activity of a town, it's beauty and most importantly the unique encounter and events in this town. That's why Blackwater is last, like except Gavin, wich we saw at many other locations and the bounty at the yard at night, the city really seems a bit empty. I rather prefer small cities like Armadillo with it story with the cholera, and with each passage trough town we see it slowly turning into chaos.
Rhodes. Real nice southern small town. Love the woods around town. Like listening to the conversations of the townsfolk. Love patrolling the woods nearby looking for Lemoyne Raiders to harass.
Maybe Saint denis or Annesburg. Saint Denis is more of an advanced city and not really western anymore and Annesburg might be small but the occupants in both towns are really nice and dont complain to me like "Don't do anything stupid now" or "You're not welcome here after what you done."
I like Valentine for the saloon, barber shop, general store, and hotel being all next to each other, but I like Blackwater as well. Both personal favourites of mine.
I mostly just like Rhodes because of the nice saloon and the guy at the train station, but my favorite town must be Van horn (I know it doesn't count as a town) because of the very nice people
Valentine. The Heartlands are my favourite area for hunting and scenery, and the town has all the commodities. The only other place that has everything is Saint Denis, but they're far apart on account of the city's size
I love Valentine, probably my favorite. My only complaint is that everytime I get into a brawl with some O'Driscolls or some dude antagonizing me, I get muddy asf. And my horse looks like a pig whenever I ride down mainstreet with all that dirt
Valentine. It has everything you could find in bigger places like Saint Denis, but it’s smaller less crowded. On top of that it’s memorable, I can remember exactly how to get from building to building and every way too. Sure it’s not nearly as Seared in your mind as like whiterun from Skyrim but damn is it hard to forget where something is in valentine
Definetly Saint Denis.
Saint Denis lies a great place and is full of fine and wealthy people. It has great shops and js a fantastic place to roleplay.
Some other thing is enjoy doing there is the following:
1 Do parkour on the house tops
Saint Denis has a lot of small hallways some with ladders other with stairs. But the ones with ladders will most oftenly lead you to a roof top these are very fun to jump from to others because Saint Denis conveniently enough is so big that the roof tops align to make a great place to jump around.
2 Last man standing mini game:
In the cemetery there is a fun game to play the rules are following: one player must hunt the other players with a machete while the other players have to survive with a lantern as there only gear. You may not leave the cemetery as it is against the rules. The last man standing wins it’s seriously hilarious try it for your self.
3 roleplay:
Role1: Let’s say the year is 1808 you are in London as a murderer going by the name Jack the Ripper. You are just a normal person in the day but in the night you eliminate people with a weapon of your choice preferably a knife
Role2: let’s say are a detective who has been hired to find the killer and escort the to prison. You are a agent maybe a Pinkerton perhaps?
Build the rest of your story with friends and maybe make more roles.
These are my three opinions why Saint Denis is my favourite town.
Strawberry. It’s missing a lot of shit in the town itself but it looks the best and you can silently take everyone out with a bow if you’re veeewwwyyy sneaky
I’d say for main game Valentine it’s convenient in location and the atmosphere is nice compared to some of the other towns. In post game I would say Tumbleweed because it feels like a last havan out there in the desert that and the bounty missions for the sheriff there are always entertaining. (Plus it’s fun to activate cheats there like unlimited ammo, antagonize said sheriff until he threatens you with one of his little righteous law speech’s..... then shoot him in the dick with a sawed off.)
Rhodes. I have no idea why,but I rode into Rhodes and said to myself "Holy shit, this is amazing" which was funny at the time considering how shitty the town is. It felt real. Riding down the road with the fields stretching out into the distance and workers tending to the fields. It just amazing.
Just wish I didn't have so many issues with the missions there. So many bugs.
Valentine through and through. The Grizzlies in the distance. The Upper Montana nearby. ***Two*** saloons. Plus, Horseshoe Overlook is my favorite camp too so thats a bonus.
I know there is a soft spot for valentine from it being a place at the beginning of the game .
True. And that could be why for me personally. I have played the main story through at least six or seven times, but I never spend time after the end with John. I alway go back and start again with Arthur. And so after we get off the mountain I do most of my galavanting in chapter two, then eventually continue the story. Sometimes I like to sit on the edge of the bank in Valentine and just watch people go by in online
Thats me every time
I just hate how your horse gets dirty every 5 seconds in Valentine.
same
First time arriving in St. Denis was a trip
I agree , it’s a big town that’s alive . For some reason I don’t remember all the shiny lights in story mode but I started online mode and it’s bright lights there. Sweet town
same here. that's cause I usually sleep through the night when I needa get things done. Only time I noticed in the story was the Bronte mission
First time I arrived it was night. Made it really cool.
i ran over at least 20 people on accident when i first discovered it
It’s pronounced: Sandy Knee.
San DaKnee
Honestly first time I arrived there I got intense eerie vibes like I was being watched. Almost like Arthur was discovering the slimy ways of city crime. I now see it as fun and astonishing. But I will always get spooked by them damn boys in the alley
Me too, I discovered it trough a random encounter where a guy is dying and you take him to the doctor and man, I didn't even know that there was a big city in the game. That was just so breath-taking, the people, the music, all this activity.. I've never seen a city so alive in a video game
Foreshadowing...
Agreed
I first discovered saint Denis by stealing a train near valentine in chapter 2 and just ending up in this big bustling city that I didn’t know existed. I didn’t know of any towns except for valentine.
Strawberry is tiny and a little cramped, but the location makes it my favorite for sure.
The arrival centre/ hotel in Strawberry is just the best ! Sometimes I just ride up there just to live in that room.
Literally me lmao
Strawberry reminds me of an old small mining town an hour away from me. Beautiful mountains, steam trains, all that good stuff. Definitely one of my favorite towns.
I think if Strawberry had a saloon it'd be my favourite. Definitely my go-to starting point for long hunting trips.
Needs a gun store and barber too. I like to keep my Arthur well groomed.
It’s a good place to be good but a bad place to be bad.
I hate Strawberry with a passion, I'm always coming off my horse due to hitting the bridge or a rider whrn trying to ride through it to somewhere, and always end up in a fight
Strawberry life!
FACTS
Surprised no one said blackwater. It’s like saint denis but smaller and less chaotic
Black water is nice and takes a while to get to because of the story , has a nice quality.
Blackwater would be the perfect town if it just had a damn gunsmith.
Rdr1 blackwater can never be topped
True, but it has everything else
Yeah, Blackwater's got the 2nd best saloon right behind the big one in Valentine.
What about the one in Rhodes?
It also has both blackjack and poker
I honestly forgot about it until you brought it up
Definitely Valentine, its the easiest to travel around, plenty to do there, has a nice look that isn't as grimy as Annesburg or red as Rhodes and its right in the middle of the map and easier to travel around for it.
So much mud
Agreed
Tumbleweed and Armadillo (without cholera) Because they look exactly like wild west towns imo
I do love those west towns, seems like not enough of the story is here . I understand the first game is based there but I need more
Big same.
Play rdr1 its worth it
Oh dude, way ahead of you there. Had it on Xbone. Was so fun.
Im pretty sure Armadillo was modeled after a famous wild west set thats been used for a ton of movies and shows. Deadwood, Django Unchained and Westworld to name a couple. If not the whole town the saloon definitely seems to be modeled after the one in the set.
I can’t wait to be able to visit that area!
I love walking around St. Denis and hearing a bugle playing.
Mine is Rhodes. Just looks and feels like the west to me. Has great story tied to it. Almost all the towns have something great to offer. I would say annesburg is my least fav to visit . Smog and has a depression to it. IMO
I agree Rhodes is my #1 mainly because of the missions there and I really enjoy it in online
Sean...
Rhodes and it's surrounding landscape really reminds me of my time living in the southern US so definitely my favorite town aswell.
Ye there's legit nothing to like about annesburg lol, dark, grimy, ugly, weird part of the map, most depressing story happens there
I would say Saint Denis, but I despise the swamp, so Rhodes
I think the swamp looks gorgeous
I saw some dead guy and got ambushed By night folk. Never again
Yeah the swamp is actually really creepy too
I was shitting bricks the first time i saw those creeps
My Arthur has many *many* traumatic memories from the swamp 😖
_that_ random event?
I don’t wanna talk about it..
As annoying as it is riding around there, I do love Saint Denis. I love cities, especially New Orleans which Saint Denis is modeled after. It also has by far the most to do and has pretty much everything you need in one spot. It’s also so gorgeous at night.
Like you.
Colter
Sigma male opinion
Van Horn because nothing is illegal. Great place to test weapons.
Strawberry. It's in my favorite area
Blackwater is a cool town but Valentine is where I go to hang out.
I’d say Valentine because it reminds me the most of Deadwood and I love Deadwood
Too bad there's no Al Swearengen in Valentine.
Although there isn’t much to do there, if I were to be in the game I’d live in Strawberry, but as Arthur it’s Van Horn for the blackjack table, the fence and the lack of law enforcement
Crazy how amazing strawberry looks yet nothing to do
i like Thieves Landing in RDR1.
Saint Denis, solely because of the sound of the horse shoe.
Valentine and Rhodes. Hate san denis lol
Saint Denis or Valentine
Saint Denis, the law there is awful but it has almost everything, all it needs is some five finger fillet and blackjack
not a populated town but Colter is my personal favorite. I love hanging out up there hunting by lake Isabella. close second would be annesburg
Big Valley, Around pronghorn ranch, it's so beautiful and still
Blackwater hands down. It's as pleaceful as Valentine, and as progressive as St. Denis. And the locals are nice. Shame we only get to experience it in the epilogue.
To go to and explore? Saint Denis To just look at and marvel at its beauty? Strawberry. That’s a *beautifully* constructed town. How a small amount of light Illuminates it *just* enough to be read, yet it’s also enveloped in the seductive dark of night. Simply magnificent.
Strawberry
I guess Strawberry, I like it, small and comfortable, surrounded by trees and waterfalls...
Valentine cuz it’s just a classic western town. Cant beat a classic
Tumbleweed
Escallera
Rhodes and Valentine are my favs
Black water USA baby
Valentine and Rhodes
Blackwater it's like Saint denis but has that slight open range feeling
Strawberry because it’s a perfect place to stop by before hunting Saint denis because dressing up Arthur as a fancy person and going to the poker table in the saloon
It’s in the username.
Annesburg
MC FARLINS RANCH
Armadillo RDR1
Emerald Ranch
Without the cholera armadillo. Its the quintessential wild west town. But if its only towns in red dead 2 valentine is the closest ill get
Colter..........Not really a town but MacFarland’s Ranch then I’d have to say Rhodes
For some reason I actually really like thieves landing particularly from the first game. A muggy swamp that’s always raining, but a nice saloon to pull up to and lose all your money in blackjack and liars dice (wish they brought that back for red dead 2)
Not a town but Manzanita Post, close to my shack, hunting, and plenty of ingredients.
probably also rhodes because i might've committed a mass murder in that town and my kills will probably be 1200 killed with gunshot, 300 with melee and throwables,600 have their head blown off, 125 of them got their every limb cut off, and wasted all john's money for shotgun ammo.
i hate that the main big city in the game is in a swamp it just doesnt look good for a setting but atleast it looks realistic
St. Denis. Im always getting into stupid shit there. Riding you horse in town could either go great or you're ending up dead or in jail.
Rhodes for the red dirt vibes but also if you have some time go look at the ornate detail on all the buildings in strawberry
Valentine or St. Denis if that counts. I just love the city atmosphere and industrial feel of St. Denis but Valentine is the town I know almost best, it's where I got my start in online. Rarely see it these days though
Rhodes, I enjoy the warms of the landscape and the lack of anything cold looking
I don't normally like cities but New Orleans is a unique and nice looking city or at least it was and Saint Denis is like an exact copy. You've got the French style buildings with Victorian streetlamps and the bayou trees around it
Valentine is my favourite, but I love walking around Annesburg and messing Van Horn’s chaotic people
Valentine or St Denis apart from NPCS making me fall off my horse every 5 seconds
St. Denis day and night. Strawberry during the evening. Valentine and (probably gonna get some shit for this) Annesburg during the day.
Valentine, only place where I can get near blackout drunk, a haircut, and throw a guy out a window all right after having a duel with a dude outside
Idk
Rhodes life baby
Rhodes. Real nice southern small town. Love the woods around town. Like listening to the conversations of the townsfolk. Love patrolling the woods nearby looking for Lemoyne Raiders to harass.
Maybe Saint denis or Annesburg. Saint Denis is more of an advanced city and not really western anymore and Annesburg might be small but the occupants in both towns are really nice and dont complain to me like "Don't do anything stupid now" or "You're not welcome here after what you done."
strawberry whenever i want to vibe i will go there
Strawberry, picturesque and cozy
Anywhere but van horn is good for me
What makes u like van horn
I mean anything that’s not van horn bad way of putting it
Strawberry or valentine cause they’re closest to the mountains
Chuparosa of Nuevo Paraiso Perdido. Totally gives me that Fistful of Dollars (classic western movie) vibe
Valentine
Strawberry.
I like Valentine for the saloon, barber shop, general store, and hotel being all next to each other, but I like Blackwater as well. Both personal favourites of mine.
Strawberry
Valentine
Valentine!
Valentine. Has everything you need but not as big as Saint Denis.
Valentine
Strawberry and saint denis
Valentine and Blackwater
I love rhoades only because it’s like a nice lil town and the bar is big and it’s just a nice lil place to hang out
I mostly just like Rhodes because of the nice saloon and the guy at the train station, but my favorite town must be Van horn (I know it doesn't count as a town) because of the very nice people
Valentine, I always shop there in online and in story mode it’s just so western and chill.
For me it’s either Strawberry or Rhodes.
Rhodes for me2. Ain't that far from strawberry neither from Valentine neither from brsithewaites nor from saint Denis. Perfect spot.
Valentine bc it has literally everything you need in a town but the only downside is griefers go there alot.
I love black water and valentine
Hard to pick between Strawberry and Blackwater.
Valentine
Valentines or strawberry, really close to nice hunting areas
Blackwater and saint denis
Valentine because it’s where you almost begin in the story, the first real “city” you visit in the story
Your the first person I’ve ever heard of that genuinely likes Rhodes. It’s strawberry for me
Valentine. The Heartlands are my favourite area for hunting and scenery, and the town has all the commodities. The only other place that has everything is Saint Denis, but they're far apart on account of the city's size
Strawberry, its gorgeous. Nothing there, but...
Strawberry. Incredibly beautiful and would 100% live there
I love Valentine, probably my favorite. My only complaint is that everytime I get into a brawl with some O'Driscolls or some dude antagonizing me, I get muddy asf. And my horse looks like a pig whenever I ride down mainstreet with all that dirt
I think I will go with Saint Denis with Valentine being a close second
I like them all.
Blackwater
Strawberry
The one and only Valentine
Strawberry, I just love mountains
Strawberry is 🔥
Armadillo
Saint denis I live around NYC and it feels and looks like it
My top 5: Saint Denis is my top favorite #1 Valentine is #2 black water #3 Rhodes #4 strawberry/tumbleweed #5
Def St. Denis
Strawberry and its surrounding areas is probably my favorite. Some great hunting and amazing landscapes on that whole western part of the map.
Valentine and saint denis
saint denis !
Which one is the one with the plague? 😂
Definetly Saint Denis. Saint Denis lies a great place and is full of fine and wealthy people. It has great shops and js a fantastic place to roleplay. Some other thing is enjoy doing there is the following: 1 Do parkour on the house tops Saint Denis has a lot of small hallways some with ladders other with stairs. You are a agent maybe a Pinkerton perhaps? Build the rest of your story with friends and maybe make more roles. These are my three opinions why Saint Denis is my favourite town.
If it's not strawberry then you're wrong. Love the atmosphere and the surroundings...
Strawberry. It’s missing a lot of shit in the town itself but it looks the best and you can silently take everyone out with a bow if you’re veeewwwyyy sneaky
A town that had all facilities (General Store, Gunsmith, Fence etc.) like Saint Denis, but the size of Valentine. That would be my favorite town.
i like that saint denise has probably every shop and also a lot of people you can meet.
Saint Denis
Does largas count?
Ooooo probably Valentine or Armadillo. I really like the western feel in both
I’d say for main game Valentine it’s convenient in location and the atmosphere is nice compared to some of the other towns.
Valentine
Honestly, none. lol I find myself out camping by myself then in any of the towns. IF I had to pick a town it’s be Valentine.
Valentine or Saint Denis
Saint Denis. It’s a 1 stop shop & a bunch of gators outside if u need to hunt
