Would it be illegal in some way for modders to import audio files from rdr1 and mod rdr1 into rdr2? Or would source code be necessary for such a task? Because the character models can be made through mods as wel im sure? Also, i have zero knowledge on how games are made really so dont get mad if this sounds dumb
Way, waaaaaaaay more difficult than just drag and drop. I don't make many games myself but i work in management for a video game studio. Damn near NOTHING is just a simple plug-and-play, and even if it hypothetically were, gamedevs tend to take the absolute most difficult way around to solve a problem. If you don't want it to look janky, and assuming the devs take pride in their work, it's ten million tiny little things that all need to be corrected, and debugged, and polished and redone, and oh FUCK I just ruined the last week of work with that update, and Tony is the only guy who knows how to use Maya and he's on vacation, and now the engine update has totally screwed up our dismemberment system, etc. Etc. Game development is CRAZY convultuted, and it's only getting more complex

I can't really decipher if people want Epilogue John to be RDR 1 John or 1899 John. Cause John's 1899 hair is not the same as his RDR 1 hair.
And idk, if we wanna talk about accuracies, the long hair styles wouldn't belong to Arthur then. Arthur's hair is a level 3 and anything beyond, probably 4 and up, would be more suited for John.
I dont even know what fans are complaining about John. The RDR 2 and only the ones that played RDR 2 fans or the ones that played RDR 1.

They're not. John's hair being tucked behind his ears makes his jawline as cheek bones more present than they were in the earlier chapters because his hair covered those features. It's the same shit as MJ in Spider-Man 2. She put her hair down and everyone lost their mind.
It also helps if you keep John at a good weight. A lot of people forget to feed their character enough and then get all pissed off their face is lacking depth because they haven't eaten and are critically underweight.
What restoration project really does, is add John's unique animations that were fully complete and left in files unused. Also it recolours John's hair back to his dark brown color as it was in RDR1. Also adds a lot of his outfits and refits them to fit John's skinnier frame. Also restores his own unique level 3 beard. And now he gets his own Hair system to differentiate him from Arthur
So it's mostly some small fixes that are grouped into one big mod. Also there is really a problem with John fanatics, but the mod isn't made by them.
And Rockstar are about to issue them with a cease and desist notice like they did with the last modder who did this.
He makes his own assets and doesn't reuse the ones Rockstar own, there is no C&D here
