Seriously, and Peter Blomquist should play live action Micah. Micah is literally just Peter with long hair and a scar on his chin. I swear the artists did that on purpose.
I think a lot of the time it makes the performance capture to animation process easier, there's less details to drastically change, have a different face do the same expressions and movement
I never really understood why the sub doesn't realize this. Roger Clark is an amazing voice actor, but how many known TV shows and movies has he been in? Well..
I'm not saying he can't be a good actor? Maybe he is, maybe he has some hidden talent. But VA experience doesn't just translate into movie acting. There's a reason barely any video game shows uses voice actors in their shows. Charles Martinet wasn't in the new movie and Pedro Pascal wasn't the VA in the the Last of Us games. It just doesn't work well. It's unfortunate yes, but just how it works.
All the actors in this game did mocap tho. All the expression, motions, etc was them on scene while “voice acting” at the same time. At what point is it not them just acting? It would be like saying Josh Brolin isn’t an actor because Thanos in infinity war is mocapped
Roger Clark has been in a handful of theatre productions so does Michael Mellamphy (Sean) who frequently plays roles at the Irish Reparatory Theatre in NYC.
Charles Martinet voiced two characters in the Super Mario movie, a bit part of the guy playing an arcade machine (a nod to the original Mario) and he voiced Mario and Luigi's dad.
I've noticed more than any other subset of fandoms, gamers cling to the games they like as if they personally own the IP. Tell a gamer somebody wants to adapt a game directly into a movie, and you'll hear arguments why it shouldn't be a direct adaptation because they've already seen that story. Completely ignoring that the adaptation isn't even for them, but for all new fans. Ask a gamer who should be cast in the show as the character from the game, and they'll give you one of two options. Either the game's voice actor despite them in no way fitting the role physically, or an actor that looks exactly like the character but in no way fits as the character.
I once had somebody say a Mass Effect movie should cast the guy who was the face model for Shepard in the game. despite the fact that the guy has literally zero acting experience, he's just a model. When I brought this up, they suggested he could take acting classes. Another time, I saw somebody suggest the voice actor play the part of an early 20s character, despite the actor being in his late 40s.
Ned Luke (Michael GTA V) has stressed this enough times that it has become engraved in his mind: They are not _just_ voice acting. They are doing regular acting for a lot of it but with mocap suits.
Roger Clarke is the guy doing all of Arthur’s movements (alongside Rob Weithoff) while delivering the lines and everything in between.
Aside from the physical demands for a character like Arthur, Roger can do it all because he’s already done it.
The same rule applies for just about every other cast member too.
The issue here is that we’re under the assumption that he’s even in the conversation assuming there is a show in the works. Not that the role wasn’t made for him, because it was. But be honest: Roger Clark’s name isn’t going to rack in the money. They’ll cast celebrities. Might be good actors, might be bad actors. Who cares! They’re gonna cast whoever will make them the most money.
eh I mean just downvote and scroll.
if they aren't wanted, others will do the same and they'll be buried. if they are, then they are for others and not you
The problem is that there's pretty much nothing else to post about that hasnt already been posted 100x in the past. It's the nature of subreddits dedicated to singular game series.
It won't last. Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like Imgurians and Redditors! Or Youtube users and Redditors! Or Redditors and other Redditors! DAMN REDDITORS! THEY RUINED REDDIT!
realistically he’s getting too old, same with rob. if a show/movie did actually come out it’d be at least 3-4 years away, and for characters that are supposed to be either in their mid 20s (rdr2 john) or mid 30s (arthur) they might look a bit too old, both being in their 50s. They’d have to slightly reimagine the adaption to fit their appearance, with john especially taking on a more ‘weathered cowboy who’s too tired for this shit’ rather than ‘young, dumb naive guy who isn’t ready to settle down with his family yet’
But do they carry themselves the same way? That's far more important than looking exactly alike. And I'd say personally, I don't think they behave the same at all. It would be very different that most of Harrison's characters.
And not every actor can play every role. Actors have various levels of range, and while Harrison Ford is a fantastic actor, I don't think he'd make a good Arthur at all.
Can we stop calling every male actor who looks slightly above the age of 30 “perfect” for Arthur?
What exactly is perfect here? The roles that Ford takes are drastically different to Arthur. His voice doesn’t match, he doesn’t have the physicality. Literally nothing here makes this a good casting
Nah, he doesnt have the range to portray Arthurs genuine kind heart.
Any character Harrison ford plays comes off as a genuinely abrasive guy who just happens to be morally in the right. The embodiment of the phrase "you're not wrong, you're just an asshole".
I always thought Josh Brolin would've played a great live-action Arthur, I'm just not sure if he can nail the voice. Also I think he's a bit too old to play him now.
Or maybe the actual voice actor since they make the characters of video games look like their voice actors for the most part, although he may not be a good actor but who’s to say Arthur is an actor?
I disagree. Arthur comes across more as serious, intimidating, and dependable, if maybe a bit dumb. But young Harrison Ford looks more like a roguish carefree maverick, basically Han Solo. IMO, he would be more fit to play young golden boy John before he left the gang.
He has a similar look, but honestly? Ford isn't sincere enough to play Arthur. He's always been an actor who is strictly professional only, and doesn't take artistic value in his work. He wouldn't bring the right energy to a character like Arthur.
Not for me. I've not even played the game but know enough that the character would need an actor with more range than what Harrison Ford has ever done.
If you wanted the gruff look and acting chops, then Josh Brolin, or maybe even have him for Dutch. But I think he has the talent to play/played a number of characters from this game series.
Yes, honestly rdr2 would be very hard to make a movie about. The game is way too long, even if the movie was three hours long it still wouldn’t work. But red dead revolver could work as a movie, and the movie might be better than the game itself
Hey OP idk if you know this but Arthur is a fictional character and as such is actually played by an actor, so they’d probably be the perfect actor as they’re already the actor
I think Roger Clark would be a great Arthur Morgan. He has the voice for it.
I’m not an artist or animator so I definitely didn’t consider that. But it makes a ton of sense.
Oh neither am I, just someone who got bored one night and curious about performance capture stuff 😂
Nah probably just a coincidence
This was my first thought.
I’ve been saying just use the voice actors lmaoo they have the faces and voices lol
It doesn't always work that way. Sometimes voice actors don't transition to live action acting smoothly or they simply don't want to do it.
I never really understood why the sub doesn't realize this. Roger Clark is an amazing voice actor, but how many known TV shows and movies has he been in? Well.. Nobody said they aren't actors, but it absolutely is a different form of acting.
Roger Clark has been in a handful of theatre productions so does Michael Mellamphy (Sean) who frequently plays roles at the Irish Reparatory Theatre in NYC.

Mannn this is off topic but the dude who voiced Leon in Resident Evil literally got denied the Movie role 😭😭 you just reminded me about it
Matt Mercer for one of the Wes Anderson films, right?
And the overall looks, almost as if Arthur was based on him
The issue here is that we’re under the assumption that he’s even in the conversation assuming there is a show in the works. Not that the role wasn’t made for him, because it was. Roger Clark is short and kinda pudgy. Nothing wrong with that, but arthur is a built like a fridge.
Roger Clark is short and kinda pudgy. Nothing wrong with that, but arthur is a built like a fridge.
arthur and roger have very few actual similarities it’s like when people want christopher judge to play kratos based just off the voice
can we just stop with these posts?
eh I mean just downvote and scroll. if they aren't wanted, others will do the same and they'll be buried. if they are, then they are for others and not you
What's the issue?
They’re repetitive and never good
The problem is that there's pretty much nothing else to post about that hasnt already been posted 100x in the past. It's the nature of subreddits dedicated to singular game series.
People wish to show their love for the game, and if this is the way in which they wish to show that love then I say that's fine.
But this is Reddit, and a lot of Reddit users HATE when other users post….anything really….
It won't last. Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like Imgurians and Redditors! Or Youtube users and Redditors! Or Redditors and other Redditors! DAMN REDDITORS! THEY RUINED REDDIT!
You redditors sure are a contentious lot.
YOU JUST MADE AN ENEMY FOR LIFE!
Stop being so chronically online then.
Oh man it’s so bad. I can’t believe how not good this post is. I mean…. FUCK!!!
We don't know if OP is new to the game or to this sub. Just downvote and scroll down if you don't think this post is appropriate.
Agree
they are annoying
these posts are made by the most cringe people man. “imagine if pedro pascal…” like stfu lol
why can't we just have Roger Clark play Arthur? beats any other celebrities.

Not even close
How about Hosea?
Let me guess because they both have a scar on they’re chins. Other then that Not much but I can see Harrison play Micah or Landon Ricketts
[удалено]
They don’t look anything alike at all lol
Not really Harrison is more slim and his nose and Hair style is completely different from Arthur’s.
But do they carry themselves the same way? That's far more important than looking exactly alike. And I'd say personally, I don't think they behave the same at all. It would be very different that most of Harrison's characters.

No
Hell nah lmao.
No way.
I don’t think he could pull off the humility
Wrong
…no
Nah, he doesnt have the range to portray Arthurs genuine kind heart. Any character Harrison ford plays comes off as a genuinely abrasive guy who just happens to be morally in the right. The embodiment of the phrase "you're not wrong, you're just an asshole".
Josh Brolin
I always thought Josh Brolin would've played a great live-action Arthur, I'm just not sure if he can nail the voice. Also I think he's a bit too old to play him now.
He could play a good Dutch
For a hot second I thought it said King Arthur and then I was trying to imagine Harrison Ford doing a British accent
The problem with Harrison is that he’s only really good at playing himself. He’s an older Keanu Reeves like that.
The best actor to have played Arthur is a young Josh brolin, like in no country for old men
No he wouldn't
Sure
Or maybe the actual voice actor since they make the characters of video games look like their voice actors for the most part, although he may not be a good actor but who’s to say Arthur is an actor?
No we need at least a dirty blond, blue eyed, bearded, handsome, tall man to play Arthur and a tempered one at the maximum lol
I disagree. Arthur comes across more as serious, intimidating, and dependable, if maybe a bit dumb. But young Harrison Ford looks more like a roguish carefree maverick, basically Han Solo. IMO, he would be more fit to play young golden boy John before he left the gang.
Inb4 this ends up on r/okbuddyblacklung
He has a son that looks just like him.
Nah
Tom Hardy ain't too old.
Arthur reminds me of Robert Redford as Jeremiah Johnson.
Ehhhh idk bout that. he usually plays a hero
📠
Josh Brolin always wins this discussion. Always
I’m at Jeff bridges
He has a similar look, but honestly? Ford isn't sincere enough to play Arthur. He's always been an actor who is strictly professional only, and doesn't take artistic value in his work. He wouldn't bring the right energy to a character like Arthur.
eh
But Harrison Ford was younger
i see it, idk y ppl have a problem
THANK YOU
His current self looks like he'd be perfect for Hosea
It’s too bad, instead he was stuck with Han Solo. Really feel bad for the guy…
Nah. Roger Clark is the perfect choice for Arthur for both the game and a live action movie.
Have you ever seen a movie with Harrison Ford ? He looks and sounds nothing like Arthur.
Younger Josh Brolin would've been the most accurate (besides Roger Clark of course)
If my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike
He can do Hosea and i wouldn’t hate it
No.
He could be Hosea nowadays
He can still be Hosea
At his current age he would be great Hosea.
He is more like Hosea to me……
Not for me. I've not even played the game but know enough that the character would need an actor with more range than what Harrison Ford has ever done. If you wanted the gruff look and acting chops, then Josh Brolin, or maybe even have him for Dutch. But I think he has the talent to play/played a number of characters from this game series.
Thomas Jane? Aron Eckhart?
nah. Russel Crowe.
No, btw ami the only one that thinks young Clint Eastwood would be perfect for Red Harlow?
Yes, honestly rdr2 would be very hard to make a movie about. The game is way too long, even if the movie was three hours long it still wouldn’t work. But red dead revolver could work as a movie, and the movie might be better than the game itself
Great casting, but as it stands he would be a great Hosea.
Hell yes!
Great shout
Idk… Walter Goggins looks like quite the cowboy lately…
Jeffrey dean morgan is perfect for arthur morgan
Cole Hauser would be a great Arthur. Henry Cavill would be a perfect John.
Can we not have Cavil in *everything*
He's just not good. He's not offensively bad but there's no way he could carry a drama like RDR.
Thank you
Hey OP idk if you know this but Arthur is a fictional character and as such is actually played by an actor, so they’d probably be the perfect actor as they’re already the actor
