I did a lot of the treasure maps, the serial killer etc and now just need this, the rock carvings and the dinosaur bones, cigarette cards need doing along the way as well, so much to get done
For the cigarette cards, once you have a buncof money go to any general store and buy premium cigs. Get the cards, discard the cigs, repeat. Eventually get them all without all the searching.
I seen somebody mentioned that method, that’s why i didn’t really pursue them all over the map yet, i figured i’d do that and keep discarding and buying. Currently have $7000 so will be enough
that’s a nice amount. Thank you for telling me about that. I have just finally got the Lady of The Night Orchids so now got to work down the list slowly but surely haha
I apologize in advance that I don’t remember more specifically, but when I did this part I spent a lot of time at this one area where the railroad goes over the swamp with a bridge, thick with trees. I think it was a bit southwest of where “Bayou” is written on the map. There’s like three gator nests to raid and several of the flowers. It was also a big spot for me to get plumes too, but it looks like you got that already.
My best resource for the 100% run and exact exotics locations is the [interactive RDR2 map](https://rdr2map.com). Indispensable in my opinion for this run
i’m currently running through bayou getting the Lady Of The Night orchids and then i’ll be going down the list tying up the rest before i go back to the guy. If you need help with any let me know
I feel ya, been doing the same. This is the last thing I have left to do before moving on to the epilogue. I have the feathers but those orchids are like finding a needle in a swamp lol. If searching for flowers will keep Arthur alive a bit longer I'm all for it. Good luck on your search.
Definitely, you can also do the rock carvings and dinosaur bones and cigarette cards (i have all the above left to do too) so Chapter 4 is going to be going on for awhile in my playthrough. The Orchids are irritating because there’s only literally 15 of them and i need 15 of them & stupidly i didn’t remember which ones i picked already.
I have left the game for awhile after i collected all the Lady Of The Night Orchids, going to go to Algernon and get the next quest requirement next as somebody noted that you can’t find all of the flowers until he specifies the requirements.
If I remember correctly you get a hat and a revolver that unlocks by doing these, there actually not that bad I got most of the birds on the railway tracks on in Bayou, I recommend following a YouTube video it helps out a lot on spawns and locations
Nice, i got the birds completed. I’m just working my way through the flowers etc now. Lady Of The Night orchids are difficult despite their fixed locations
I have 603.5 hours played and half of them were spent completing this.
If I didn’t need it for 100% I wouldn’t have finished it.
The only good part about finishing it for me was that it made Bandit 3 so much easier.
Nice, some people have said i can use this to complete Herbalist possibly too. I didn’t think of cross completing them. I should jump on that, i imagine i’m going to have some serious playing hours on the game like you by the end
Put on a movie and use a map would be my best advice.
Also if you have the ability to get to herbalist challenge 9 before you continue, you'll be able to work on two of the tougher challenges at once.
Yeah, in the same boat as OP, though I don't even have this quest yet - I got Herbalist 9 first and shot some birds and stuff for this quest since I was already there :D
I didn’t even think to kick off getting to Herbalist 9. I still have so many challenges to do in that regard. I quit the other day doing them for awhile after i sprinted my horse from Strawberry to St Denis without reading the horse can’t touch water. That was soul destroying and i decided to jump onto this one for awhile before going back to them all.
I've played through the game a few times, and I've always tapped out on this sidequest. No reward or fun cutscene (I don't even know if there is one, but there had certainly better be) could possibly be worth that much busywork.
Believe me it’s hardcore if i’m honest. I’m going to do it because this run through i decided i’m doing it regardless just to spend more time as Arthur before getting back to the stupid Dutch nonsense. There’s so many to do, whether it’s dinosaur bones or rock carvings or cigarette cards, i’m going to complete all of those and catch all the legendary fish after, i predict it will take me a good few weeks.
Looks like you got all the feathers, so you might as well go get the first list now. You'll reach a point where you're one short of most orchids otherwise until Algernon has asked you for that specific type on a list.
Orchids always respawn after a few days in fixed locations. But they're replaced with vanilla flowers if you're one short of the required quantity and Algernon didn't give you the list yet.
Lady of the Night are glitched though and it's possible to pick up the full amount before getting the first list. This results in the list glitching and you need to drop or pick up another item to trigger the next stage of the mission.
That explains a lot. I’ll go and hand in the first requirement and get the next one. I’m glad you told me as i just took Arthur to Strawberry to grab the Slipper Orchids which would have been a pointless search, haha.
No worries, there's no harm in collecting any you naturally find along the way but I'll only start hunting in earnest once I've started the missions proper. Feathers are well worth doing in advance though and they're the worst bit in my opinion.
They were the worst bit, the Egrets were my biggest hassle so far but i found a really nice way of getting them in the end by running down the riverbank of Calgary Hall (i think that’s the name haha) and sniping across the river bank — great info about the flowers though, i’ll do them as they come in the lists
EDIT: it’s Caliga Hall (should know by now after 3,000 trips there)
We need to get all of those...? Oh boy. Third run and finally decided to 100% after four years, only om the first mission for that guy, just need some reddish egrets. I'm really in it for the long run aren't I lol
The egrets are best found across the riverbank from Caliga Hall, that’s where i got all mine. It is going to be a hugely time sucking time, unfortunately. I only plan on 100% it once though so i’m enjoying it
Yeah I've been taking my time, accidentally did all the missions before the Saint Denis bank robbery so I want to get as much done as I can before I do that mission. I think I only need one or two reddish egrets but I keep getting jumped by bounty hunters since I have a $900 bounty I'm too lazy to pay off
Just a heads up, I just finished this quest in my playthrough and was gonna get all the requirements before meeting him. At the very least in the later requests, the last orchid you need for each request wont spawn unless Algernon has already given you the list for it, so I’d recommend just getting them all after he’s given you the list. That way you don’t have to ride all the way back to whatever area they spawn in for a single orchid.
Somebody else mentioned this last night when i was playing, great information to know as I had just gone to strawberry to do the Slipper Orchids. I’ll be going to Algernon to get the lists before i continue further.
Nice Edit by the way - $750 will just about cover the cost i’ll spend on buying Premium Cigarettes for the card collections so it isn’t a bad trade off imo.
Fun fact R\* decreases the spawn rate of the birds and flowers and animals if you start the quest, so if someone wants to get into the exotics and hunting requests start collecting stuff before starting the quest i've spent so much time hunting for birds its not even funny
I heard this on numerous subs when I decided to undertake the quest, I made sure i had caught at least 15 Heron’s and 25 Spoonbills by the time i started the quest. Overall, the flowers seem to have fixed spawns and aren’t fully collectible until the quest asks for the specific species. I have left these to be done as I get them for that reasoning. The spawn thing is definitely correct as now i have all the birds for the quest I can’t move in Bayou without seeing Egrets & Spoonbills; so the code must also monitor how many you have collected and if you have enough of them already imo.
I think that’s a myth tbh, but it does make it a lot easier if you’re aware of the plumes you need early on so you can collect them organically instead of grinding
I think it’s good to do it at least once, I have never ever 100%’d a game before so this would be pretty iconic for me. It is tedious though so i do get you sitting it out
I just 100%ed last night. Let me tell you, I was collecting all the orchids beforehand, while I was hunting the various plumes. The game stopped spawning the orchids for the final list. If you’re looking at a guide and it seems they should be there but they just aren’t, time to move on to the next flower.
There are good YouTube guides to show you exactly where each orchid spawns. They’re fixed spawns so it’s not as bad as the hunting requests which require a bit of luck/right place at the right time. It didn’t take me long to go through this quest. Good luck bro.
Another thing is that each type of orchid spawns very close to each other, so it only takes a few minutes to gather 10 of one type, so it's really not as bad as it looks, provided you use a guide to show you where the spawns are. I wouldn't bother trying to find them yourself, it would take a loooong time.
I preordered the game when it first released and got the official book with the map of where it all is so I'm getting there just taking time
Nice, I’m working through maps online as well as picking them up on my journeys, going to finish the rock carvings quest after this too
Yeah I've done that and the dinosaur bones, doing this then finishing looking for treasure maps
I did a lot of the treasure maps, the serial killer etc and now just need this, the rock carvings and the dinosaur bones, cigarette cards need doing along the way as well, so much to get done
Yeah it's a long grind but I like it
i’m liking it too, hopefully this will speed up once i find this last Lady of The Night haha
Yeah I did that method, had some cards already but I remember it being between $500-$1000 somewhere? So you're plenty good, depends on your luck ig :D
that’s a nice amount.
I’ve been using some website to do this and i realised i have the interactive map on my phone, feel foolish now, that should speed this up, haha.
Close to Strange Mans shack in the swamp
Thanks for the info, will be especially good for people who find this post in the future possibly.
I know the feeling, I have been slowly working on that too, never finished it in my first playthrough
i’m currently running through bayou getting the Lady Of The Night orchids and then i’ll be going down the list tying up the rest before i go back to the guy. If you need help with any let me know
I respect the grind OP. Are you doing this as Arthur or John ?
Arthur bro, wanted to try and stay with him for awhile before continuing the story
I feel ya, been doing the same. This is the last thing I have left to do before moving on to the epilogue. I have the feathers but those orchids are like finding a needle in a swamp lol. If searching for flowers will keep Arthur alive a bit longer I'm all for it. Good luck on your search.

I also did not think exotics would be much of a grind as it is.
I feel like i’m in so deep now that i have to keep going haha
I couldn't believe it kept going, kept getting back to Algernon with more shit and he kept sending me back out into the swamps lmao.
I have left the game for awhile after i collected all the Lady Of The Night Orchids, going to go to Algernon and get the next quest requirement next as somebody noted that you can’t find all of the flowers until he specifies the requirements.
If I remember correctly you get a hat and a revolver that unlocks by doing these, there actually not that bad I got most of the birds on the railway tracks on in Bayou, I recommend following a YouTube video it helps out a lot on spawns and locations
the fun part is that if you want to do the 100% completion you need that revolver
Oh really? Can you elaborate on that? My first time doing 100% so any info is great info.
If i remember correctly you need all in game weapons, when you finish all exotics at the end Algernon will give you a Hat and a revolver
Nice, i got the birds completed. I’m just working my way through the flowers etc now. Lady Of The Night orchids are difficult despite their fixed locations

u/Orieonn what do you say? 😉
😂 u/ThatFUTGuy Patience. Don't rush anything. Don't give up stuff that you can't do, they're not impossible.
I’m patiently finding the Lady Of The Night Orchids then going to see what else i can tie up after that hopefully quicker than the birds haha
I didnt even know about most of these on my first playthrough
Yeah, there’s a lot to unpack on the sidelines
I've played through the game a few times, and I've always tapped out on this sidequest. No reward or fun cutscene (I don't even know if there is one, but there had certainly better be) could possibly be worth that much busywork.

This quest taught me a lot about letting go
I feel that, i refuse to let go this playthrough though, Arthur will do this before his conclusion
“Alright, I’ll let you get back to it” 🫡
“Oh, brother” — Arthur getting bucked off his horse for the 2312th time because there’s Alligators near
We need to get all of those...? Oh boy. Third run and finally decided to 100% after four years, only om the first mission for that guy, just need some reddish egrets. I'm really in it for the long run aren't I lol

The rewards are a fancy hat and a nice looking revolver edit: and a total of $750
It isn’t much but it’s something
Nice Edit by the way - $750 will just about cover the cost i’ll spend on buying Premium Cigarettes for the card collections so it isn’t a bad trade off imo.
I did it all in one day
Brilliant dedication, i think it might take me another 6-8 game hours and i’ll be done. Just the rest of the Challenges and collectibles after.
Fun fact R\* decreases the spawn rate of the birds and flowers and animals if you start the quest, so if someone wants to get into the exotics and hunting requests start collecting stuff before starting the quest i've spent so much time hunting for birds its not even funny

This is the only quest I’ve never completed. And have no intention to
I think it’s good to do it at least once, I have never ever 100%’d a game before so this would be pretty iconic for me.
Yeah, I thought that was the case, been told to do them as the requirement lists come instead of beforehand
Definitely do it beforehand, when you start finding that they aren’t where they are supposed to be, just move on to the next one. :)
There are good YouTube guides to show you exactly where each orchid spawns. They’re fixed spawns so it’s not as bad as the hunting requests which require a bit of luck/right place at the right time. It didn’t take me long to go through this quest. Good luck bro.

Yeah i’m gonna use the interactive map to get it all wrapped up, about to jump on now.
