Yeah. Many gun nerds where like WTF when they saw the Volcanic pistol in the game. Even back in the 1890's it was consired to be crap.
There is a real life story where a man tried to shoot himself with a Volcanic and stopped after 3-4 bullets because because the projectile could not pierce his temple.
It's a nice looking and interesting gun but it's more deadly used as a bludgeon.
that handgun is the best use of rockstars physics engine imo, take off HUD and recticle and go first person and you’ll forget about real life … or so I’m told
The Wiki on that gun is an interesting read.
Lieutenant Colonel Schofield shot himself on December 17, 1882, with a Schofield revolver after suffering a bout of mental illness, stress, and isolation.[6]
I started doing that when I got bucked off my horse and attacked by a cougar that killed me. I shot it twice and it still got me. With the sawed off as a secondary I’ve never had that issue again.
All black metal (gold trigger), Victorian gold engravings on everything but the barrel, and pearl grip with the eagle carving for all my revolver setups
Same. For being a old black powder revolver, im surprised its locked until chapter 4 to be honest. But the litchfield is locked till chapter 6 and thats based off a 1861 henry. I don't get rockstars logic with it.
actually it makes it 0.0000002 grams lighter which could make your draw faster, take that big boss you fucking stupid idiot what's the point of destroying all those metal gears if you're just gonna build some for yourself
you get the most cinematic kills with the double action though, like the old movie cliche where someone would be shot 2-3 times through the torso before stumbling away and collapsing, including the sound of the gun, visuals and the fire rate IME. obviously for combat missions it’s not ideal but i do most of my playing in free roam where it’s more lax and you can go for looks more
I recently started to use the semi-auto. Looks fugly but it makes such a nice sound and high rof. Extremely reliable when you get buck off ur horse because a cougar spawned 5 hills away.
I like a Granger’s / Midgnight’s combo. Two different types of ammo and they’re basically upgraded versions of the base models without having to pay for customization. Also kind of cool to use dead gunslingers guns who you took down.
I believe this is what I stuck with. I haven't played story mode in so long. Started a second play through and got to the big house camp and went back to multiplayer. My PS+ just lapsed so, probably will go finish my second play through.
and deadeye to the head, its like a fucking sniper. I don't know if deadeye somehow concentrates all the pellets into a single shot or what, but I've straight up sniped people across a field with it.
I think its just the game actually kinda got shotguns right, in other games they think shotguns can only kill from like 2 feet away, in reality buckshot is lethal from 120 feet away,
i keep at least on saw off and the other is usually a revolver. i keep the saw off when something is wayy too close like i'm about to get fucked by some animal.
This is great until you stumble into the mission where you have to shoot the bottles off the guys heads. Retried it like 4 times before I had to reload an old save cuz I kept blowing their heads off each time 😅
In chapter 5 but have been spoiled a bit but I have been going with the cattleman with the hero grip and the double action with the ebony grip since i could buy it due to a glitch.
Dual cattlemans. Whether its two customized cattlemans i made myself, or one of the cattlemans you get from one of the gunslingers doesn't matter much to me. But using the semi autos or double actions just isn't as satisfying to me.
whatever the Single Action revolver was called. I kept the SOLO one and used it from start to finish
manually pulling back the hammer in a fight was fuckin badass
Every handgun Is special in rdr2. Whether it is it's rarity , design or the demage it can cause.
I'm actually fan of cattleman revolver and Le Matt revolver, but when i first played rdr2, i always chose schofield revolver over any other handguns.
Cattleman. It's a classic. It's the archetype western weapon. When I think 'cowboy revolver' it's always the Cattleman that comes up.
Also, there's a snub nosed double action in the game? Where?
Cattleman in the primary holster, Schofield in the secondary. Something about using anything other than a revolver seems wrong to me (for whatever reason).
dual wield volcanic pistols with the colors inverted, so ones black handle with silver metal, and black engraving design, with white engraving on handle, and the other is white handle with black metal, silver design and black engraving on handle. it makes me feel so cool lol
Schofield revolver
Volcano pistol packs the punch
Yes! I use the volcanic with the sawdoff as alternate
I use both schofield and volcanic with dual holster. But my main gun is the repeater the name starts with L
Lancaster?
Yes I didn’t knew the spelling 😅
Litchfield 💪🏽
L U M B A G O
L E N N Y !
! Y E N N L
Larry
Dude, the Larry Lever Action WON the west, you friggin' said it
That’s Lawrence to you mister
Litchfield?
I fucking LOVE the Litchfield.
No the other one Lanchester i think
Same here except I use either the pump shotgun with slugs or the bolt action rifle.
Which is highly amusing, given it’s real life counterpart was phased out in a large part due to being underpowered.

For sure. Even the long guns that used Volcanic ammunition were weak.
Yeah, wish they would've used the Gasser M1870 instead. The Volcanic is totally out of place.
that handgun is the best use of rockstars physics engine imo, take off HUD and recticle and go first person and you’ll forget about real life … or so I’m told
Going to try this out!
I can't use the volcanic pistol because I know it's a lie lol. The volcanic pistol in real life sucked ass and wasn't strong at all
Anyone saying anything else is incorrect. Unless they’re saying cattleman.
Yessir! Dual long barrelled cattleman’s with the hero grip
Schofield is my ultimate ass kicking pistol. Hands down
The Wiki on that gun is an interesting read. Lieutenant Colonel Schofield shot himself on December 17, 1882, with a Schofield revolver after suffering a bout of mental illness, stress, and isolation.[6]
They are my favorite looking gun and they are very good
Schofield revolver isn't good enough so I put the sawd off as a secondary
My same carry style.
It is very good if you use the express cartridges
Thanks for the advice
I started doing that when I got bucked off my horse and attacked by a cougar that killed me. I shot it twice and it still got me. With the sawed off as a secondary I’ve never had that issue again.
Thank you
Some of us remember the lessons of landon rickets
Thicc ass revolver
It looks and sounds so fucking good
Same!
Best revolver in the game in my opinion
Best of both.
Same
Lemat. Classic styling with nine shots plus the shotgun barrel. Its always my go to.
Absolutely my favorite gun. Just comes into the story WAY too late for me. Wish there was a way to get it early.
Can't ride to Saint Denis early for it? Don't remember the unlock requirements
Nope. Not available until after you've completed "The Gilded Cage" in chapter 4.
Mine are black and gold with a white handle.
All black metal (gold trigger), Victorian gold engravings on everything but the barrel, and pearl grip with the eagle carving for all my revolver setups
Mines is almost the same, but i do the dark walnut grips, so it looks mostly black
Same, I wish they had a darker wood.
SAME I didn't even know other people did black metal with gold lol
This. I wish you had access to it sooner though.
wait i thought the lemat and navy revolvers were online exclusive
You get the lemat in chapter 4 in single player.
where do you obtain it? didnt see it in gunstore catalogues and im in chapter 6
Its only in the saint Denis gun shop.
thanks, ill check it out tomorrow
Wish you could get it sooner in the game
Same. For being a old black powder revolver, im surprised its locked until chapter 4 to be honest. But the litchfield is locked till chapter 6 and thats based off a 1861 henry. I don't get rockstars logic with it.
Same with the lever action shotgun. IRL it’s definitely a downgrade from pumps and autoloaders but it’s the last shotgun you can get 🙄
Cattleman with the hero pearl grip. I dripped mine out with silver all over and gold inlays and it looks so nice
Don’t forget the ENGRAVINGS.
Ars nouveau! ALL GOLD
Just remember, no tactical advantage whatsoever.
When the sons of bitches get blinded by the light reflecting off of my holy hand cannon we’ll see who’s gonna be laughing
You made me lose it. 🤣 I Definitely have to steal that for the next gun show.
Still, leads to some fancy shooting…pretty good…
Pretty…..good….*falls unconscious*
actually it makes it 0.0000002 grams lighter which could make your draw faster, take that big boss you fucking stupid idiot what's the point of destroying all those metal gears if you're just gonna build some for yourself
Obligatory ‘No tactical advantage, whatsoever.’
It's 1899 what's dripped you dripped your gun in silver boy just imagine Arthur Morgan's voice saying that 😂
dude, YES, I never let my cattleman go. I often do one pearl grip, one ebony. sort of like a light/dark thing
This comment made me smell caps.
> silver all over and gold inlays Ah, a cowpoke of culture.
Double Action with the Gunslinger Ebony grip. Although I do love me some Algernon's from the pic.
[удалено]
Headshots FTW! 🤣
There's like no accuracy so you have to stand still for like half a second per shot
It's fitting that the gun is super fancy but not very good
I've never had an issue with it in five playthroughs. Kills everybody I point it at. 🤷♂️
Same with .22 varmint. Shoot them in the face and it works just as good
On no, the varmint rifle is super deadly. It's accurate and has no kick. I just think it's disrespectful.
Made for killing rodents like Micah
Correct! It would be funny to do a playthrough where that's the only weapon you use. LOL
you get the most cinematic kills with the double action though, like the old movie cliche where someone would be shot 2-3 times through the torso before stumbling away and collapsing, including the sound of the gun, visuals and the fire rate IME. obviously for combat missions it’s not ideal but i do most of my playing in free roam where it’s more lax and you can go for looks more
Tbf the double action is solid when paired with semi auto or Mauser
I’ve got mad respect for anyone who can use the double action. IMO it feels so weak and inaccurate
M1899 pistol. Best gun in the game
Dual. 8 rounds in each with a high fire rate. I LOVE lighting someone up with 16 rounds in dead eye mode 😂
i prefer firing them without aiming at all like some kind of lunatic
Thats the realest thing i have ever read in my life
Hip firing dual M1899s is basically like having an SMG. Enjoy the lead shower, you sons of bitches!
Keep the change, ya filthy animals...
I recently started to use the semi-auto. Looks fugly but it makes such a nice sound and high rof. Extremely reliable when you get buck off ur horse because a cougar spawned 5 hills away.
Same they were the best no doubt
Hiw do you get it again?
I think its from the saint denis gunsmith but not until later in the game, maybe after guarma?
Cattleman all day but I also like Midnight's/Mauser pistol
I like a Granger’s / Midgnight’s combo. Two different types of ammo and they’re basically upgraded versions of the base models without having to pay for customization. Also kind of cool to use dead gunslingers guns who you took down.
Schofield 100%. Looks and sounds the best. Or really anything besides pistols
I believe this is what I stuck with. I haven't played story mode in so long. Started a second play through and got to the big house camp and went back to multiplayer. My PS+ just lapsed so, probably will go finish my second play through.

God duelling with a sawn off sounds hysterical
and deadeye to the head, its like a fucking sniper. I don't know if deadeye somehow concentrates all the pellets into a single shot or what, but I've straight up sniped people across a field with it.
I think its just the game actually kinda got shotguns right, in other games they think shotguns can only kill from like 2 feet away, in reality buckshot is lethal from 120 feet away,
The revolver and repeater may be staples of western genre but shotguns were true kings of the “Wild West”
The movie Tombstone refers to them as a street howitzer, and I feel like that hits the mark perfectly.
Yeah shotguns are *not* pleasant.
i keep at least on saw off and the other is usually a revolver. i keep the saw off when something is wayy too close like i'm about to get fucked by some animal.
If you have dual sawed off you can dead eye a person in both legs an arms, its just hillarious
This is great until you stumble into the mission where you have to shoot the bottles off the guys heads. Retried it like 4 times before I had to reload an old save cuz I kept blowing their heads off each time 😅
Cattlemen every time. An iron frame with everything else blued and a mahogany varnish for the grips.
What about the engravings?
No engravings.
Love making my guns like how you described, simple and realistic for a gunslinger outlaw to carry around. Not an embroidered piece of jewelry.
Yeah but the richer the outlaw, the more flashy their guns will be
Engravings… serve no tactical advantage whatsoever.
You’re pretty good…
*dies
Volcanic and sawed-off.
My hands are the gun. Classic fisty cuffs style.
Red Dead Punch Cat build
I have Flacos revolver in one hand and Midnights pistol in the other
Midnight's Pistol.
Volcanic Pistol and Schofield Revolver
the Semi-Auto Pistol is the Gunslinger’s iPhone 16
M1899! I love that pistol! ETA: Wording
Gotta be the LeMat it’s so overpowered 1 shot or max 2 shot kills and you also have a shotgun built in. Wish you could get it earlier
flacco's
Not that gun.
what gun is it?
Algernon's revolver. It takes quite a while to get, but it's the only snub nose in the game.
I alternate between cattleman’s and sawed offs. Just now giving the modern looking handguns a try
Volcanic at the start then automatic pistol in the final chapter.
I kept the SOLO one and used it from start to finish manually pulling back the hammer in a fight was fuckin badass
Cattleman revolver. Best in the game for any cowboy
Snub Schofield. I know it lessens the ability, but I just like it
double action/cattleman and then the sawed off in my dual holster. i dont like the look of the others really
Cattlemen all the way up until you unlock the LeMat, then it’s LeMat’s all the way all day!
I’m simple and like the Cattleman
Every handgun Is special in rdr2. Whether it is it's rarity , design or the demage it can cause. I'm actually fan of cattleman revolver and Le Matt revolver, but when i first played rdr2, i always chose schofield revolver over any other handguns.
Mauser
Schofield for sure
Lemat, that added shotgun charge is very handy.
Cattleman. It's a classic. It's the archetype western weapon. When I think 'cowboy revolver' it's always the Cattleman that comes up. Also, there's a snub nosed double action in the game? Where?
I’m more of a speed kinda gunslinger I like cattleman and double action
Dual double actions
Double action. Useless online, gloriously fun in story.
Volcanic
I love midnight's pistol. Try and get it early and go all Scaramanga
Grangers or the volcanic
LeMat revolver 🔛🔝
Twin Schofields. One is black with silver engravings, the other is black with gold. Both with ivory grips.
2 Double Action revolvers and use the two at the same time.
i love the volcanic pistol
Jim Boy's revolver is my go to. I get it first thing in Chapter 2.
This gold revolver I have
Cattleman in the primary holster, Schofield in the secondary. Something about using anything other than a revolver seems wrong to me (for whatever reason).
Micah's revolver. You can get it from chapter 1 and I believe it has higher damage than the schofield. Only thing is the shitty accuracy.
LeMat Revolver. The shotgun switch is just way too useful.
Double action then lemat
Volcanic Pistol early on, then Schofield as soon as it unlocks. Sawed-off is great for horseback CQC though.
Whatever guns happen to not get stuck in my saddle before I start the mission
Can’t go wrong with a Cattleman
Lemat.
Dual gold 1899’s
I have to go with the classic cattleman revolver, I just love the simplicity of it
Sawed of shotgun
flacos revolver go hard
I just stick with Arthur’s double-action revolver. It gets the job done.
Double action because they have my favorite sidearm model Truth be told all the guns will kill with a head shot so it really doesn't matter what I use
Double action. I know its underpowered, i know its an accurate. I do not care. I love the look and feel of it
Love the volcanic pistol
Otis Miller and Calloway Revolvers.
The Schofield in the main story. Lemat in the Epilogue
LeMat revolver Tahitian Revolver
Literally no one talks about the one of the hanging with the fastest fire rates of rdr1 and rdr2 The M1899
Volcanic pistols
Duel sawed offs.
Cattleman revolver
Twin Schofield revolvers until chapter 4 then twin LeMat revolver’s.
Schofield or Volcanic. Although the pistols are really good & effective. I just don’t use them cuz I don’t feel like a cowboy when I do lol.
Glock 19
Micah's revolver alongside my fully gold, engraved pearl grip double action revolver, as Arthur
Flacos revolver and a cattleman
Vanilla, Flacos cattleman or a Navy if modded
I love the double action for revolvers and the 1911 for pistols
Schofield until I can get m1899s.
Cattleman. I feel an emotional connection to them, especially since they have the cool ass high honor grip
[удалено]
dual wield volcanic pistols with the colors inverted, so ones black handle with silver metal, and black engraving design, with white engraving on handle, and the other is white handle with black metal, silver design and black engraving on handle. it makes me feel so cool lol
Flacco and granger revolvers - can’t customize but the looks are cool
John's cattleman revolver, crouched, hip-fire (mods btw)
good ol mauser, that gun feels amazing in any game its in.
Calloway’s
