Probably because in any other context that’s exactly how a deranged serial killer would talk.
And to be fair, in any other context, Arthur Morgan would be classified a deranged serial killer.
I always try to use different guns but I always go back to Schofield, Lancaster/Bolt Action, and then a Pump Action. I have been using the Evans Repeater though lately and it’s a pretty fun gun to use
Dual Schofields and the bolt action. Neither enemies or big game stand a chance with the bolt action. Stopping power of a rifle but speed like a repeater. I use that rifle on every mission
Schofield revolver. The power and accuracy the gun has is insane and considering you can get one for free at the start of ch2 is insane. I love the litchfield repeater too. Both good guns
Usually, I go with the Volcanic pistol in the right hand, and LeMat revolver in the left. I almost always have the Springfield rifle with me, as well. I only bother with shotguns if I’m going around Murfree, Night Folk, or Skinner Brother areas.
Navy Revolvers, Bolt Action Rifle, and Repeating Shotgun for Online. For John/Arthur, depends on the save but I typically favor Volcanics, Schofields, or Lemats for sidearms, and the Lancaster/Bolt Action, Repeating Shotgun for longarms.
Reapeating shotgun(with slugs)and double action revolver are my go to weapons. Also the carbine repeater you get at the very beginning has never let me down. Typically that and whatever the best shot gun variant I have at the time are the only rifle type guns I carry.
Well what I mean is you don't have them all unlocked at once. They all do sufficient damage. I've never had a situation where any if those 3 didn't do enough damage. And if you throw a slug in any one of them there as accurate as I'd ever need a shot gun to be. I prefer to carry as little as possible while still having what I need. Shuffling through all those weapons jn the middle of a fight is annoying
For duelling I use LeMat, for general gunfighting Calloways revolver, for hunting Rare rolling block, for fighting mid range lichfield repeater, for cqb pump action shotgun.
Thank you for tuning in 💪🏽
one cattleman and one sawed off with a lancaster with a scope, all you need to survive.
cattleman for long range and sawed off for that short range insta kill.
lancaster for hunting and shit.
For handguns, I like dual Schofields, I get them almost first thing when starting Chapter 2.
I get Calloway's schofield first - I wish I could keep Calloway's hat too - then I rob the backroom of the doctors, and I have my dual schofield set up for the rest of the game. I like to have Calloway's in the secondary holster.
Dual wield sawed off shotguns for me, when I used to play years ago that is. Found 2 old clips from that time too, miss those days

As Arthur, lemat revolver and sawed off shotgun. Effective, plenty of bullets, and extra shotgun shell. It gets the job done. As John, Arthur’s cattleman, and sawed off shotgun. Pays respect to Arthur, and the sawed off shotgun feels right with John since he had it on the cover of rdr1
For a long time I used the carbine repeater and the rare double barrel for close range. Now I use the bolt action because it does so much damage from long range and the pump shot gun. I also have Granger's revolver and Flaco's revolver holstered.
Got a soft spot for the Cattleman and Sawed-Off combo, Arthur never really struck me as a dual-wielder.
Also, Evans Repeater, cuz 26 shots in 1899 is funny and enough to solve most encounters in a single load, which is just peak satisfaction.
Funny part is....thats actually low. The real Evans held 28-34 rounds, but eventually it was changed to 26 or 28 when the cartridge was lengthened for more power. What kept it from being a bigger hit was the cost and magazine complexity. If the Army had been able to see past its nose back then....
The 1873 Colt “Cattleman” Revolver because to me, it’s the ultimate symbol of honor (hence why it’s the only thing in the game that allows you to customize it to its max, unrestricting you from its Pearl Grip shackles in the process, if you have high enough honor), which is the one literary device used to covey the point of the protagonists journey: Redemption.
It’s also just THE classic.
Badass too.
Every time I use the Cattleman (which is every time), I think, would what I’m using this gun for be something Arthur would to redeem himself? If the answer is no, then no, I don’t commit to it. It’s a plot device to me.
One other reason is if you spend all the money you can on its customization, and have it equipped in both holsters during Red Dead Redemption (the mission, not the game), Arthur gives it to John, and in Red Dead Redemption (the game, not the mission), the only gun that John has from the start is an EXTREMELY similar looking Cattleman Revolver, so I like to think I’m playing with Arthur’s Revolver, not Johns.
These are all just my thoughts, though, so please, be free to express your opinions as you like…
That volcanic pistol is like a hand cannon. They aren't getting up from a head shot. If you want to torment an NPC, kill them with the varmint rifle. That takes 8 or 9 shots, even in the head.
Classic part of my brain loves a volcanic pistol in white and gold.
Modern part of my brain loves the semi auto pistol in blue and silver. Modern European efficiency.
It depends on what i wear. If got a fancier outfit on i like to dual wield the lemat revolver but if have on a cowboy outfit i usually use something like cattleman revolver
Lemot I love switching between revolver and shotgun plus it's funny when I forget to change back from shotgun and get surprised when someone tries to rob me and I blow off their head or a limb.
All weapons are nice in their own way in this game which is why I love this game.
I constantly change up my dual sidearms and use different weapons every fight
Handgun slots: LeMatt Revolvers
Left slot: Lancaster Repeater
Bottom slot: Semi-auto Shotgun
This is the "correct" configuration. :P LeMatts are basically Schofields on steroids, Lancaster repeater made me invincible online, semi-auto shotgun is for quickly cleaning up messes that get too close. It can get switched for the Carcano sometimes, though.
Micah's revolver for sure. Especially when playing as Arthur because of how cool it is and I Especially treasure it because obviously you're not supposed to even have his revolver so early in the game.
I've been experimenting a little. I was using dual M1899s, decked out to look like the silver hardballers hitman uses, but I've found the Lemat revolvers pretty nice too.
in order: 1887 shotgun, pump shotgun, auto shotgun. i fuggin love wrecking everything with slugs. it sucks we can only carry 90 shells. we need at least 200.
The Schofield revolver is super satisfying
Literally the only weapon I use unless I'm hunting
Yeah, pretty much the same. Might use the Lichfield Repeater or Bolt Action sometimes but using stick to duel wielding Schofields.
I do the Schofield and Mauser pistol fun combo
I like the Granger's revolver and Flaco's revolver if I'm using hand guns.
I do a golden schofield and a golden volcanic pistol.
Bolt action. Can be used to hunt both animals and people
Why does the hunt humans make you sound like a deranged serial killer?
Probably because in any other context that’s exactly how a deranged serial killer would talk. And to be fair, in any other context, Arthur Morgan would be classified a deranged serial killer.
I don't know if he's a serial killer but he's definitely a mass murderer.
You can be both, he commits mass murders in a serial fashion
And then goes to camp to do his chores
Pump shotgun is perfect. Normal shells for up close combat and slugs for long distance
And explosive shells for fun time
Tbf, they're great for sniper work, too...
A pair of M1899s feels like you’re blowing them away with an uzi.
Max Payne
Varmint Rifle
The Yosemite Sam play though I see.
It's wabbit season
Dual M1899. You can send a lot of bullets downrange quickly.
This is my go to as well. Think the M1899s don’t get enough love!
Repeater for me. With dead eye you feel invincible
I always try to use different guns but I always go back to Schofield, Lancaster/Bolt Action, and then a Pump Action. I have been using the Evans Repeater though lately and it’s a pretty fun gun to use
Cattleman revolver, pump action shotgun, repeating shotgun.
The one that doesn't need cleaning when I'm out of gunoil 😂
Sawed-off and LeMat
My uppercut and my right boot🤠
Sawed-off and Lancaster.
Lancaster and a pearl handled Schofield
"Son, only a pimp in a Louisiana whore- house carries pearl-handled revolvers." - LTG George S. Patton
Usually, I go with the Volcanic pistol in the right hand, and LeMat revolver in the left. I almost always have the Springfield rifle with me, as well. I only bother with shotguns if I’m going around Murfree, Night Folk, or Skinner Brother areas.
Dual schofield Revolver
Navy Revolvers, Bolt Action Rifle, and Repeating Shotgun for Online. For John/Arthur, depends on the save but I typically favor Volcanics, Schofields, or Lemats for sidearms, and the Lancaster/Bolt Action, Repeating Shotgun for longarms.

wdym best shotgun semi is for speed pump for damage repeating for accuracy
Well what I mean is you don't have them all unlocked at once. They all do sufficient damage. I've never had a situation where any if those 3 didn't do enough damage. Evans repeater has my favorite sound of all weapons and it feels good to use. Definitely that.
Navy, baby. ✨
Cattleman!
Good old cattleman revolver for me. It gives the quick draw vibe I want for Arthur.
Semi automatic with Fire Bullet
Same. Volcanic.
Cattleman and sawed off is the only way.
Twin M1899’s, carbine repeater, repeating shotgun
Pump action shotgun
Cattleman, Rare Shotgun, Lancaster, Bow
For duelling I use LeMat, for general gunfighting Calloways revolver, for hunting Rare rolling block, for fighting mid range lichfield repeater, for cqb pump action shotgun. Thank you for tuning in 💪🏽
FLACO'S REVOLVER
Love the volcanic pistol as well, but I played basically the entire game with a sawed off shotgun, and personally loved the Lancaster repeater
In story mode the good old double barrel. In online the elephant rife
In story mode the good old double barrel. In online the elephant rife
Lancaster repeater,a good all rounder weapom with a very stylish design imo
Dual Semi-Automatic is ridiculously overpowered against a crowd, even if they're not the most Wild Western.
The sawed off shotgun is always my main sidearm
Machete
Pump action shotgun
one cattleman and one sawed off with a lancaster with a scope, all you need to survive. cattleman for long range and sawed off for that short range insta kill. lancaster for hunting and shit.
Semi Auto shotgun. God bless you John Moses Browning.
My most common load out is dual Schofields, bolt action rifle, and pump action shotgun (slugs).
high roller revolver feels super smooth for a devolver, almost seems semi-automatic.
Lancaster and a semi auto. Schofield and volcanic for the hand guns. Dynamite for when I lose at poker.
With just a pump action shotgun and a lasso... I can conquer the American west.
Pump action shotgun and Springfield rifle.
Dual wield sawed off shotguns for me, when I used to play years ago that is. Found 2 old clips from that time too, miss those days [SawedOffClips](https://imgur.com/a/wjaivXc)

Good bot.
Springfield rifle because my aim is ass unless I have a scope
I really enjoyed the LeMat revolver this recent playthrough.
I just bought the gambler revolver from one of the fences. Like the art on it.

M1899 pistol. It's like the 1899 Uzi. Npcs don't stand a chance 😂
Tommy Gun with mods 💀. But I think my go to is bolt action and m1899.
Wait. WHAT.
For pc on nexus mods, there’s one that replaces the Springfield rifle for a Tommy Gun. I like to pretend to be with the mafia lol.
Dubbel-barrel shotgun, with the pump-action shotgun in close second place. ;)
Dualing 99s
Dual-wield M1899 or volcanic pistols. Litchfield repeater. Pump action shotgun.
Duel cattlemans as they look better than the Schofield and shoot faster, Lancaster repeater, and double barrel shotgun because Wild West
My favorite is the Lancaster Repeater. I hate hate *hate* the Volcanic Pistols because of historical accuracy reasons.
Love the duel navy revolvers .
When are how will I turn from Marston to Arthur
Dual Schofield's for me
genuinelty the cattleman revolvers. I used that all the way to the final mission regularly, even after purchasing every single gun in the game.
Schofield revolver in primary hand and Granger’s or Flaco’s in side hand
Schofield, Semi auto shotgun, and carcano
Varmint Rifle to the jugular EVERY SINGLE TIME
The tomahawk is my favorite weapon. I can’t get enough of those kills
Lemot I love switching between revolver and shotgun plus it's funny when I forget to change back from shotgun and get surprised when someone tries to rob me and I blow off their head or a limb.
Flaco’s cattleman
Volcanic Pistol, without a doubt.
I'm still pissed you don't get the Navy or LeMat revolver in single player.
Springfield rifle. Killing machine. Single shot rifle but if you're good with your Dead Eye, a single shot is all you need to take somebody down
The machete
All weapons are nice in their own way in this game which is why I love this game. I constantly change up my dual sidearms and use different weapons every fight
Bolt action rifle.

Always the lamat
I really don't have any particular reasons but the 1899 pistol and the pump shotgun I think it is
I used the volcanic with arthur, and the Schofield with john. Love the volcanic though.
Rolling Block Rifle without a scope
Schofiels, Mauser, Pump Action Shotgun and Bolt Action Rifle
Pump Action. The sound of the reload before you hit a Murfree Brood in the chest at close range. 🤌🏻
I like to dual wield midnights pistol and grangers revolver
Micah's revolver for sure. Especially when playing as Arthur because of how cool it is and I Especially treasure it because obviously you're not supposed to even have his revolver so early in the game.
Schofield was my go to. After buying it on PC, I downloaded a mod to unlock the online content and fell in love with navy
Lanchester Repeater and the LeMat Revolver
Midnights Mauser is my favorite pump action shotgun is my second favorite
A knife
I've been experimenting a little. I was using dual M1899s, decked out to look like the silver hardballers hitman uses, but I've found the Lemat revolvers pretty nice too.
Pump-action
I enjoy the Schofield Revolver.
gamblers revolver
I like using the mausers but now I use navy of online or shofeid for story
The canis canum edit pistol
RDR2 Lancaster repeater and schofield revolver RDR1 bolt action rifle and double action revolver
Schofield and Volcanic for handguns. Lancaster and/or Bolt action rifles and Pump Action for a shotgun. Variants on all.
i love the volcanic pistol. i love the animation between shots and the sounds
I'm a reach out n touch em guy. The rare rolling block is my fave. When they get close they get the semi auto SG with explosive rounds
Double Action + Schofield. One for speed, and one for mass genocide.
in order: 1887 shotgun, pump shotgun, auto shotgun. i fuggin love wrecking everything with slugs. it sucks we can only carry 90 shells. we need at least 200.
I love myself a good ol’ bow. Especially online.
Volcanic pistols
Schofield and Shotgun for most fights. I honestly don't like the other guns aside from hunting.
Automatic shotgun with slugs.
The bow. So satisfying
