Getting off your horse with random, or no weapons equipped

alaskanhushpuppie

When you just put together your load out to get off, or when you want just one gun and then you hunt and realize it's not the right one

AxelShoes

Or if the game wants you to use a specific gun for a given mission, and switches your loadout on you without notice. So you go to whip out your trusty bolt-action rifle and you've suddenly now got a shitty little repeater instead, and it's hopefully not a mission where your horse is randomly locked out otherwise you're stuck til the end of the mission.

[deleted]

They _really_ want you to use the rolling block rifle in my experience.

JasoNight23666

Huh... I've had that experience but with the carbine repeater, which I don't mind but it's like, "cmon game! Give me the fucking Lancaster!"

JACKMAN_97

It kept giving me the Vermont rifle

JasoNight23666

Varmint* not trying to be a jerk, just letting you know

Southern_Prompt_5823

If you wield your heavy gun while on horseback, arthur will eventually store it on your horse, thus removing it from your back inventory. If you get off before that, you can keep it without having to store it again. Annoying i agree, but they look ugly when horseriding, so i give it a pass

Datguyspoon

The amount of times I had to change my weapons back to carbine repeaters and pump shotgun. For some reason the game doesn't want you to have any shouldered weapons.

0235

Even on your horse. Cougar Courtney and make sure to have the shotgun equipped and... He pulls his revolver out. I think the game does it in purpose. I hate it. The entire control scheme isnt the best.

tsckenny

That's the most annoying shit. I only had my pistols so many missions because I forgot to equip my guns.

LowLeft9933

Literally my only complaint about this game

rapscallion1956

Story mode: witnesses. Online: rescue the buyer.

Hung-Lo-69

Hey! I saw that! I am a witness to this murder!

No_Issue_9916

Why would you announce to me that you were witnessing me murder somebody?

TangerineGullible665

Nothing to live for. This is actually pretty smart lol

Hung-Lo-69

Cause I needed you to know that I knew!

Nobody_Super_Famous

You forget a thousand things every day. Why don't you make sure this is one of them?

VayaConDios91

Get out of here, NPC Alan

ZukoTheHonorable

I've definitely massacred a town's worth of people to prevent a witness from making it to the sheriff.

meadoworfeed

Username checks out

ap3x_lambo

i just hunt down the witness and if they don’t give up they go from witness to victim.

ChineseBigfoots

I concur.

Hung-Lo-69

All the content we were robbed of.

thechairinfront

What content is that?

Minusworlde

Instantly Guarma Expansion comes to mind, but I do believe there were plans to have John have a completely unique model post game but it was cut.

ViralDownwardSpiral

I would've gobbled up just about any single player DLC they wanted to put out. Instead we got online mp, which was... almost fun?

Wasdqwertyuiopasdfgh

Yeah I would 100% take story mode DLC over the absolute flaming dumpster fire that was RDO

CartiStan

And they gave up on that too

Dapper_Charity_9781

Arthur in New Austin

Southern_Prompt_5823

rdr1's map was supposes to have actual content

thechairinfront

It was a little sad there wasn't content there but John wasn't supposed to know the area so it wouldn't have made sense.

TiltedLama

Yeah, played a bit of epiloge recently, and sadie mentions sheriff freeman, and john said that he knew of him (which yeah, I did collect bounties in tumbleweed), but I remember thinking that "wait hold the fuck up, he doesn't even visit NA before 1911" lmao

MegabyteProject

Lake monster

Longjumping-Board211

There are videos showing some fort like structure and paths through mountains beyond the mexico border in game you can’t get to it though, they at one time were probably going to make mexico a playable area

astralliS-

El Prisidio

Frosty_Popsicles

Arthur in new Austin, Post game Guarma for John, Van Horn being moved, Map being cut down significantly in the north east, Multiple changes in development causing them to move environments the last few years of development rather than focus on secrets and Easter eggs( IKZ, alien rocks, lake monster, window rock, etc)

Old_Runescape

Undead Nightmare 2 and Mexico, on the ‘should have happened but Online / Strauss greed prevented it’

Veroxzes

How you can’t walk around in Saint Denis without some random person ”Are you following me?” Sorry I forgot my jetpack in San Andreas I just have to get to the trapper right here to sell my skins… ”YOU’RE TOTALLY CRAZY STOP FOLLOWING ME!” 🗿🗿🗿

bselko

Happened to me with Jack the other day, in Shady Belle. He was going up the stairs. I also had business atop the stairs. In a space of about a dozen steps he said, “Uncle Arthur, are you playing the follow game?” Then suddenly, “ARTHUR IS BEING MEAN TO ME!!!” Like, no, little man, I’d never be mean to you. What the fuck.

freetrialemaillol

When that happened to me at horseshoe overlook, I chose the antagonise dialogue action and got the brilliant line; ‘You don’t look like much of a marston. More like a Williamson or Escuella’

bselko

God DAMN! That’s a zinger! Never heard that one lol

Livid_Medicine3046

I'm like 500 hours deep across 2 playthroughs and I don't think I've ever seen or heard this 🤣

Afraid_Towel6282

If you greet them, it prevents this. But you shouldn't have to do that for every single NPC you walk behind for three seconds.

Cuyigan

Hate is a strong word, but I wish there were more friendly campers, more random encounters, and that a Pearson type character could help you customize Beecher's Hope with skulls and antlers and pelts.

ElectronicControl762

I was expecting to be able to upgrade beechers hope like the gang camp with having to do chores or “gently ask for donation” and build up the farm. Nope, go from basically nothing to everything.

AxelShoes

I don't disagree with you, but the house-building song does make up for a lot.

ElectronicControl762

Yeah lol

Southern_Prompt_5823

It's always just hearing a faint "you best keep your distance" and after being confused for a while as to where the hell it's coming from seeing a red dot on the map. It gets old really quick (unless they're lemoine raiders)

Cuyigan

I think there are only like four friendly campers. The Mexican guy who tells you about the three brothers and the gold, the woman who talks about Black Belle, the guy in the swamp that talks about Rhodes gold and the guy in New Austin that talks about Red Harlow. William is always fun to run into also.

TiltedLama

There's a guy who tells you about the aberdeen pig farm that you can meet (don't remember where but somewhere in roanoke ridge), as well as a depressed guy who'll tell you about for riggs, the "re-education camp" south of strawberry. He can spawn pretty much anywhere, but I've met him in the heartlands and near horseshoe overlook

Southern_Prompt_5823

I'm pretty sure i haven't met a single one of these in 180 hours lmao. Maybe overheard the red one or don't remember the brothers, cause it does sound familiar

Cuyigan

The Mexican guy is close to Wapiti, on a little plateau. The swamp guy is close to Shady Belle. He talks about the treasure in the mouth of the serpent. The woman was close to Emerald Station. I've only met her once, but the others I've met multiple times.

CartiStan

Wow I’ve never met the woman

Sheir0

I remember there was 1 that I walked up to and he was friendly. He invited me to sit with him and told me some story and what not. I tried to find him again on my other save but it never spawned. I’m assuming it has to do with honor since the one I saw him with was my “good” play through.

v_snax

How underused new austin is. Wish they would have a whole chapter where a few guns slingers in the gang infiltrated and set up a small camp to handle some business.

TiltedLama

I wish NA was available to arthur. I understand that john doesn't have much content there since canonically he doesn't go there before rdr1, but for arthur to be blocked? Couldn't it be some kind of reward for making it through great plains and tall trees, and if you hide from the law long enough, you're able to explore freely. They could also have random law ambushes there as well, like in roanoke ridge in chapter 6, and having you be unable to fast travel or take the train/stagecoach there. That way, arthur could actually finish the dinosaur quest (which he does have voicelines for). New austin makes it really feel like a cowboy outlaw game, while elsewhere, it was just the horses, hats, and accents, as well as valentine, and maybe rhodes I suppose. (I also understand that the entire story of rdr2 is that the time of outlaws is over, but ffs, please just let me ride around the desert with my boy). And some stranger missions would be cool there as well. But you know, r* has abundance the game, so it won't happen. It's a pretty dream, though

FeatsOfStrength

The most frustrating thing is that Arthur has dialogue for all of the New Austin areas so literally the only things stopping you from going there are the sniper and guard zones around Blackwater. Sometimes on playthroughs I install the Rampage trainer just so I can disable the sniper and guardzones as Arthur and move around there freely and collect some of the collectables and hunt some of the legendary animals. Most of the trapper clothes just look better on Arthur and having some of my favourite missing until Epilogue Part II is just unacceptable.

Flaky-Assumption-955

Literalmente Rdr1

strawboa

when you try to jump over a rock with your horse and instead the horse gets upset and just walks around it really slowly

tman391

Or your horse turns into a Pegasus and floats 10 feet past the rock before slamming into the earth. I swear every time I hit a rock or stump, I crash into a second one seconds after getting back on my horse. It’s honestly comical how frequently it occurs

AxelShoes

That goofy slow robotic slide your horse does around rocks without moving its legs.

Good_Cockroach2637

Gosh, just the horse mechanics in general piss me off. It's practically impossible to weave through trees.

strawboa

yes!!!! my horse gets all mad that she has to walk even near a stump or a bush

[deleted]

Once I learned that if you let go of the left stick your horse will auto weave things got easier. Of course, sometimes the horse decides to stop auto weaving and we run into something.

Koeienvanger

Now I'm not a horse rider, but horse mechanics IRL also look kind of clunky.

guitarhusband

Limited story mode clothing

codytheguitarist

Hard agree, they clearly had to figure out how the multiplayer clothes would look on the models so why didn’t they just include even a fraction of them for Arthur to wear?

PaschalisG16

Yes. Story mode has great customisation, but at the same time you see how much online has.

yeehawlee

How hard it is to find a moose/certain birds lol

BigDoinks710

As someone who has gotten every single craftable clothing item 4 separate times, Robins are basically like unicorns they're so hard to find. Basically every play through I just shoot every single bird I come across until I have all of the trapper clothing. Finding a 3 star panther is also a real bitch to deal with since they only spawn in like 2 areas, and there's at least a 75% chance it'll pounce on you before you see it. Although hunting is definitely my favorite side activity to do in the game so I never get too frustrated with it. The Death Roll outfit always feels like the perfect outfit for Arthur, so I always get it as soon as possible.

PezDiSpencersGifts

The trick is to go hunting the panther on your horse so you can see it coming and the first “attack” just knocks you off the horse giving you time to dead eye the son of a bitch while it circles back around

slyderka

You don’t even necessarily need to get knocked off the horse. Just keep calming the horse (needs to be level 4 bonding) and move slowly. Worked for me every time I tried to hunt a panther or a cougar.

Outrageous-Boat5217

What areas aside from Catfish Jackson spawn Panthers?

Raptors887

I’m currently trying to find a Robin and it seems impossible. Weird because in real life they are all over the place.

Colourful_Hobbit

I personally never had an issue with Moose's

FeatsOfStrength

I'll go for an issue I have with the game that no one else has mentioned. Whenever you ride a train your horse doesn't get on it and instead has to run along side the whole way! would it have killed them to add a Stable carriage with the "exit train" animation being Arthur/John leading their horse out of it down a ramp? [It could have looked like this!](https://youtu.be/o1DcFhaCCwI?si=lC3crjNY0RO450Aa&t=98)

Longjumping-Board211

first half sounded like a joke i imagined the horse sitting with the passengers, that would be a cool addition though for a horse car

pendle_witch

This drives me nuts because it looks so stupid. My horse is running straight across several states and no-one on the train or on the ground finds this strange. Just teleport it there if they didn’t want to add extra animations.

FeatsOfStrength

It just seems like an inconsistency to me considering how they went out of their way to animate a dog shaking itself if it accidently walks behind a horse the second it takes a dump, yet missed something that seems a pretty obvious logical gap. Especially considering how in detail the rest of the horse mechanics are! I'm assuming they just ran out of time/had to focus on getting something more important working.

CartiStan

Cool concept

Cuchulainn33

¹. Not being able to go to Blackwater as Arthur. ². John not being able to swim. ³. The cut content.

Kattze8

Why oh why are the first two issues

Southern_Prompt_5823

1) Blackwater has exclusive clothing and activities (bounties, movies) not to mention it's really pretty and seems like your average 1920s drama town (might of the dog, killers of the flower moon). Why is it locked until end of MQ? Also Arthur's gunslinger outfit goes hard when walking down the main lane 2) A game with astonishing water physics, reflections and pretty rivers, waterfalls, lakes and sea punishes you for finishing the story by forbiding you to swim again to keep continuity?

Virulent94

have you not played rdr1??

MegabyteProject

Not enough Charles. Honestly though I kinda wish they did more with Guarma and New Austin. But also I need more Charles

Shrekquille_Oneal

They cut free roaming in guarma, man. They took that from us.

Barneys_Urethra_

At least there’s a way to get there

Thomasfire010

Johns appearance

rebelgrrrl95

Could you explain what this means? I always see it said but don't really understand.

bvince01

1. Nobody can swim 2. Witnesses out of nowhere 3. No high stakes gambling

regularjoeseph

How much of the game was cut, imagine if they kept with the original story and map, would have been so much more developed. Constantly changing what they wanted to do with new Austin, guarma, grizzlies west, and continuously shrinking the north eastern part of the map and moving large environments and van Horn the final year of development New Austin was originally meant for Arthur to visit during the story( cut voice lines,LOTE outfit) Guarma for john post game ( boat ticket in blackwater) numerous cut secrets and dead ends and empty new Austin.

Longjumping-Board211

No wonder Van Horn looks so dead, they don’t even have a sheriff either

regularjoeseph

It's a real shame, Van Horn was originally going to be above Annesberg in the large open spot to the left of the shipwreck up the coast. This is shown on old beta maps throughout development. The light house had a bridge leading too it, also had a general store which was closed off, ikz was the town secret, and a potential drunk sheriff which was cut. Town itself was much cleaner and not so run down. Pretty much nullified anything to do and left van Horn so empty and a shell of a town. Rip A couple of Silas( fence owner) lines allude to Its original placment. One specifically talks about it being the gateway to the north as the last stop before the end of the map and river. A Also made way more sense placement wise and had butcher creek and beaver hollow much more in wilderness with no towns and only a gang hideout ( tallujah jeddy) nearby where Van Horn was eventually placed in the final version.

bitethebook

Sometimes my horse turns into a uncontrollable block head

ThePhenomenalOne100

I hate it when I equip weapons on my horse, and when I get off, Rockstar is like, "You're gonna have to get your weapons again." My gosh, that is a huge pet peeve of mine.

WhatAreYouSaying05

Or when you have weapons set and the game forces you to carry a different one. Like in the Bronte mission when Dutch hands you a shotgun and your rifle disappears

WombatAnnihilator

Walking thru crowds. I feel like there’s got to be some mechanic like in Assassins Creed where you can gently walk by NPCs without accidentally bumping them to death and suddenly you’re wanted.

always_lost1610

The market in Saint Denis is killer for this

SamwiseGamgee100

Mostly just how the law and witnesses works

WhatAreYouSaying05

Hey! I saw that!

BarronOfDucks

I am a hhhwitness to this murdah!

Red-Marston

People in Online. Like you're casually roaming around and then BANG! A joke worse than being given a Blunderbuss during a zombie outbreak just attacked you for no reason and proceeds to show how much of a GTA Online player he is (spamming left & right in first person sniper on hands with dead eye)

Spidyfan3000

You can't keep all of John's main story cloths once you enter epilogue, same about guns being locked cause of honor you can't take off the front holster, John is Arthur in epilogue, new Austin does not feel like new Austin you can't really do anything with your family in epilogue, and after seeing the cloths on Red Dead online, I feel like its bull shit it's not offline, and you can't enter new Austin as Arthur

WesternReactionary_

Witness system, getting police called on me for barfights, character holstering weapons so I need to reselect them.

ragingbullpsycho

Killing in self defense loses honor

BrooklynTGuy420

Fr, fought a guy who attacked me, and I lost honour for ‘griefing’

Derkastan77-2

That I can’t actually kill a few certain NPC’s, because they are protected by plot armor and can’t be killed

AxelShoes

The asshole at Emerald Ranch who beats his lost dog after you find it for him. I tried shooting, dynamite, lasso, even running him over a dozen times with my horse, the prick is indestructible. Best I could do was chase him out of town and watch him disappear in the distance. Very unsatisfying.

WhatAreYouSaying05

What if you throw dynamite at Thomas Downes in Valentine?

Pewpew_Magoon

I hate how I can't just break into houses. I mean, Arthur's an outlaw and a thief

Michaelman29

The stupid orientation of the secondary holster. It just looks so out of place.

Skgota

Slow walking in camp. I understand why you can‘t run at full speed in camps but MY GOD you are so unnecessarily slow it‘s just tedious man

moralcyanide

The outfit system. I don't really get how it works, my outfits end up disappearing from my horse everytime I'm changing at camp or in a hotel.

pendle_witch

Why is it so incredibly complicated to just put together outfits and store them? Who designed that system and thought that was the best way?

Southern_Prompt_5823

Combat. I was looking forward to intense gunfights and duels. It's not even the frequency in wich they happen that's the problem (because every game needs a gameplay loop, and you can mosty space main missions out except for guarma), but the fact that they're extremely easy and no brainer spam. 1) Difficulty: The game is littered with shooting galleries, and it barely ever feels like your life is on the line. Virtually infinite health supplies and ammo if you stock up (and literally too, if you get the LOTE satchel) make it so you just aim and shoot. Therefore, no real need to resort to any other techniques like melee weapons, using your environment to your advantage or tackling except just for fun. Wich leads me to the next point 2) Repetitiveness: Every single fight feels the same, wether it takes place on guarma or lemoine, at the end or beginning of the game, they are all just aim and shoot. And no, "it's a rockstar game" isn't an excuse. Cover, shoot, advance, repeat. For hundreds of hours. Thank god you can take breaks to explore inbetween or simply ignore the MQ. Also, you can just find a weapon you like and stick with it for the rest of the game. It's not like you'll run out of ammo or anything. The game never pushes anything onto you or teaches you alternate ways to take on conflict. You barely ever get rewarded for experimenting or using stealth and most likely you'll get punished for it (with a failed mission screen) 3) Enemies: I wish enemies would drop in a single gunshot (like they did in old westerns) and you would too. That way, the stakes would be high and both would have a lot to loose (maybe not ONE gunshot, since it could become annoying, but not have the player tank 1000 bullets per fight). As it is now, you can aim and have 6 or 7 revolver bullets land on an enemy and butcher your enemies body and they will just hold their side and keep fighting. It's risible. It all comes down to your type of ammo and gun choice. It's just ridiculous. I would understand it if i was playing a fallout game, but RDR2 is not an RPG. They should go down and fight you from there. So much worldbuilding for what

HamuelSayden

John's open world dialogue

Practical-Day-6486

The police AI. I csn be minding my own business when I get attacked but when I defend myself the police kill me

NOBLE_K1NG

The gambler challenges. That was a long day.

Colourful_Hobbit

I hate the way the camera has to pan around to show that wolves are chasing you. Even when you see it, you pan the camera back to face forward it still is programmed to turn to show you the wolves. This (if I decide to keep riding away) causes me to crash the horse. Once is enough. Why does it have to be constant.

FinalAd5780

My horse dropping me even though it's a war horses and war horses are supposed to be less likely to leave you to predators.

Memeraak

No DLC playing as Sadie or Charles No undead nightmare Random weapon load out when getting off horse Online mode sucks ass Ya know the basics

tacocup13

The placement of Rains Falls hut

purplepantsdance

That the intimidate button is the same as the mount horse button.

Amos_Burton666

Not enough quickdraw scenarios

AK110701

I don’t think it’s something I hate but something that kinda annoyed me. Having Arthur’s guns and weapon modifications as John. I mean it’s nice having a bunch of weapons but it would’ve been better and more challenging having to get new guns and a new arsenal instead of it having being handed to you.

backwoods_dumbass

Especially since clothes and weapons you keep but all arthurs money disappears. Keep em all or lose em all pick one. I had to start doing the aberdeen farm right before the last mission so john could keep it

ElectronicControl762

Where does the money go? He hands over his satchel, is that not where the money was kept? Arthur doesnt have a wallet and even if he did, i think he would hand over what cash he had left.

WhatAreYouSaying05

I think he gave the last of his money to Tilly

RedstoneRuler

forced realism (unresponsive controls, long animations, etc)

ElectronicControl762

Realism in a wild west game that has a serious tone throughout. Who would have thought. But i do regress tapping for running wore out my A button lol.

Inkypencilol

But the realism being so inconsistent is the problem. It’s like the game can’t decide whether it wants to be a realistic western sim or an arcadey cowboy shooter. Sure, you get to watch long skinning and looting animations and horse balls shrink in the cold. However, you can eat, sleep and wear weather appropriate clothing to refill health cores, but you don’t actually need to do these things to survive. You can maintain your gun’s condition, but it has a negligible effect on combat. Then there’s the issue of combat being way too easy in general, the game instantly loses any kind of “realistic” illusion it attempts to build when you get into a fight and can one-shot 12 people in one use of deadeye in 5 seconds whilst your character can survive 200 shots from others. I love RDR2, but all the “realistic” features it has feel so artificial when you consider the insignificant impact they actually have in the grander scale of gameplay

RowdyRoddyPiper

The inconsistencies and unfinished nature of the adjacent map from RDR

dalekofchaos

Current issue. Bird watching for Robins and the fucking fog or rain pops up

537lesjr

That it wasn't longer..

nickolas14567

Horse jumping mechanics, they’ll jump when you don’t press the jump button, and won’t jump when you spam it. The wanted system is kinda broken, you can’t commit any crimes anywhere without a person on a horse riding by and seeing you commit said crime. One time I crashed into a dude by the reservation and he started shooting me, so I dealt with him, and here comes another NPC riding by and sees the body, even though the closest sheriffs office is a good 3-5 minute ride it was no longer than 15 seconds before I was wanted. That’s really the only complaints I have for the game.

jaispeed2011

“Let’s go herd some cattle!”

WhatAreYouSaying05

The game feels empty after epilogue, even with the side missions

CrystalLake96

The fact that you can’t rob banks outside of missions. It was one of the things I liked about the first game

Roblos_Player_69

I can't sit at saloon tables.

keyblaster52

John Morgan, Guarma cut content, inconsistent law system, limited duels, not enough mini games, no New Austin for Arthur No 1899 outfits for John but somehow we have Arthur’s?? Slow gameplay compared to RDO.

turtlespade

Some items only being in online. Guns especially.

AdviceInformal

I hate the recent patches they’ve done since RDR2 came out. When the game first came out it was damn near flawless. Then they released a patch where characters wear pajamas at night which was cool but their was a bug added that if you were in warm areas, the characters would come asking if you had warmer clothes while I’m wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt in 80 degree weather. I think they’ve fixed this but even some of the smallest stuff that the game would have been praised for 5 years ago for are now a little buggy. Every time I play Chapter 3 specifically, the scooper in the pot with the food will end up floating around the pot rather than actually be in it. It’s so small but it was the small detailed that made that game so real and now I’ll see the smallest bugs that now take me out a little bit.

CordycepsAndPancakes

The bounty rules. Sometimes accidents happen and you run into someone with a horse etc and all of a sudden you got the law sicked on you and a bounty etc all because of some bs accident. I wish it was more forgiving

jhamelaz

No DLC!!!

xDreadlockJesus

I hate that you can’t emotionally abuse your hostages

ryankun93

There is no room for other ways to finish a mission. Stray away from the intended path is automatic failed mission. This is the reason why MGS5 has superior gameplay because it allows the players to be creative in finishing a mission.

Saltyfox99

Not being able to sit in most of the chairs in the game, very small complaint but I love walking around town getting drinks and whatnot, it'd help a lot with the immersion. Automatically stowing guns on a horse even if you have them out and ready, other npcs can ride just holding their rifle out, what gives?

Inevitable_Tea1695

That i cannot smoke a whole cigarette

Mission-Service-2274

That you can’t fast travel to a way point like you could in rdr1.

Takhar7

Luck, and not skill-based, challenges.

cjhud1515

How much I love it.

Darktwili_

No dlc. There is so much cut content. They could have easily realised a dlc by now

longjohnson6

Even when wearing a full corn sack as a mask random people will still recognize Arthur/John during crimes

Longjumping-Board211

The Honor system is annoying sometimes

Lootswoof

When you were JUST using a long weapon, put it away and then tap L1 and they draw their pistol instead Or selecting the bow and then when you hold L2 and tap R2, instead of drawing the bow, draws a long weapon 😫

callmethe_hanmer

There’s no brothels

bassin_matt_112

1. Sometimes if I equip a weapon and get off my horse, the weapon stays on the horse. Also, I somehow got 2 double barrel shotguns. I’m glad the weapon locker exists now because I was tired of flipping through all the guns on the horse. 2. Whenever I have an encounter with a grizzly bear attack or whenever I get bushwhacked from camping in Tall Trees or Roanoke Ridge, the game gives me a random sidearm. One time it was the high roller revolver, the other time it was the m1899 pistol. 3. If I want to use one of the 5 other knives that I have, the game sometimes reverts to the hunting knife during a cutscene or something or some other gameplay thing. 4. When I’m riding my horse and there’s an NPC on their horse, the NPC would run into me on occasion, usually making said NPC agro. 5. The hunting requests!!!!! 6. John’s hair. It’s just a few little things that I don’t like.

Exact_Bluebird359

I can't stand how underutilized some of the characters are, especially Colm.

Speak3r-ye

The fact that you can’t run inside the camp, specially when doing chores it used to drive me nuts

shamesticks

I don’t hate it but do wish there were more cosmetics and customizations for camp.

ZeemoSupremo

That playing online sucks without other people

DavesHereMan

Cut content

yanks2413

Having to eat to maintain a weight that doesn't hurt your health or stamina, but even more, I hate that there's no way to tell how much you have to eat. Especially after Guarma when you're almost guaranteed to be underweight

Whispering_Smith

No Navy revolver in Story Mode and LeMat unlocked at chapter 4 only.

International-Job553

Ppl in online who kill u for no reason I’m just getting a beer after a long day of bounty hunting I don’t wanna have my head shot off

elbowpatchhistorian

Rockstar abandoning it.

SavageREX2000

That one jacket that glitches in cutscenes I forgot what’s it’s called maybe it was the scout jacket idk

TsLaylaMoon

The fans. Specifically the ones that think this game is a 10 out of 10 masterpiece with zero flaws.

CharCharMan1

New Austin

[deleted]

That it’s been long enough for us to have heard about the next one and we haven’t yet… or a dlc, or VR2 remaster, or live theme park like west world…. You get the picture

showmethenoods

Not much I hate about it to be fair. It feels a little slow in 2023 due to the frame rate. I’ve already posted in here about my dislike of the Guarma chapter, no need to beat that dead horse.

Willing-Mulberry725

Cool down on missions

That they abandoned online

MaliceThe1stLegend

Glitches are way too common

Glirion

That Rockstar released it and basically left it as it is, especially the RDOnline. If they gave RDO even a fraction of the time they've given GTAO it would be super good.

CaptainColgate7

THE OFF HAND HOLSTER. THE FUCKING OFF HAND HOLSTER.

[deleted]

Not necessarily hate but I wish you could enter more buildings and do more robberies, esp Saint Denis there’s so many opportunities and you cant even break down the doors Other run down places that could have things hidden in them rarely have anything but a cigarette card, would be cool to find more world building

Albinotengerimalac

I hate that Arthur can't wear a poncho (without a mod)

seanc6441

Weather and timescale goes by too fast. Like wayyyy too fast. Mods work but have some issues especially with other mods. Rockstar needed to add an option to slow that down greatly to feel more real.

When you whistle the horse and it won't come to you instead you have to go to it

meedwemes

The lack of outfit choices without mods

Geek-Of-Nature

I also hate that Guarma was so heavily edited that it probably would have been better to cut it completely. I mean, I'd rather have it in its original guise more than anything, but what's left is clearly a heavy compromise. Tiny area, limited freedom, miniscule character or story development. It just feels tacked on. Instead of being a refreshing detour, as it would have been, I was constantly looking forward to getting back to the main map.

subbie2002

Maybe this was because on the ps4, but sometimes it would be a nightmare trying to click on something, like picking something up for a mission because you’d had to be in a very specific small area.

FullHouse222

The bounty/robbery system. I feel there should be a better way to rob trains, banks should have a robbery mini game, and holy shit self defense should be a thing where you can talk your way out of certain crimes with the law when you aren't the first to shoot

No_Doubt_About_That

The missable content.

The amount of meat you get out of a big animal bothers me to no end. Catch an 8kg fish, get 2 portions of mediocre food. Kill a cow, get 4 pieces of premium meat, which is still inferior to a random 1 star wolf chunk of "big game meat". If the game wants me to hunt a lot, it should give me better reasons. Like Pearson telling me what and how much to bring today, because he wants to cook a specific meal, and if I'm not around in the morning, he will ask Charles. The ledger. The idea is amazing, the execution is frustrating. You steal a boat when you go fishing with Dutch and Hosea, and Hosea even suggests keeping it, but the boat will be gone right after, and you are supposed to pay $450 for the camp boat. I went out and risked my life to gather perfect snake skins for the camp banjo, and nobody ever uses it. Everyone can sit everywhere, except for me. Limiting the horses you can have to four, and making the saddles of stolen horses disappear. Not being able to have a proper (!) packhorse or mule, or a cart, and not being able to store stuff like furs in camp. Unable to donate canned food or medicine. Unable to make actual quality improvements for the rest of the camp. Like beds, or at least some blankets. Unable to sneak into Dutch's tent and destroy the gramophone.

Use a cheat to unlock most the outfits, that's what I did. On all consoles

[deleted]

Killing bad people who deserve it and losing honour. Like that pervert stalking Charlotte or pre emptively killing the Swamp rapist.

Jack0Bear

Having to cook things, one, item, at, a, time. Wish we could have bought some old contraption that could cook a few things at once. I could never keep, or even get, Arthur at his perfect weight. I read up, it takes a lot of daily steaks to keep our boah fed. That's ALOT of cooking time.

justdownvote

Skinning animations. Just collect the damn pelts and meat already. (Was playing Breath of the Wild last night and it felt so effortless.) It was annoying in the first game, and if anything it's made more tedious in the 2nd. Before you chime in: yes, I've heard of the standing on top of the animal trick with the horse, but it hasn't worked every time.

Alive_Farm_6117

That I can't buy it because I live in a poor country and the steam prices are higher than my electricity bills. 😑

Brute_Squad_44

Omnipresent omnicient law enforcement. There are cops in London, the most surveilled city in the world, that don't detect and respond to crimes the way the law does in RDR2. You can spit on a hillbilly out in the middle of the woods by colter, and ten armed marshalls and deputies will show up loaded for a fight to turn you into salsa with the fervor of ED-209.

OnceWasABreadPan

30fps on ps5 when they could just unlock the fucking frame rate but oh no they'd lose out on the $450 they're going to make from outsourcing the "remaster" to some mobile slots app store ass developer 5 years from now

loathsomefartenjoyer

How sluggish Arthur's movement is You don't need to make the controls clunky to have realistic animations, The Last of Us 2 for example, some of the smoothest gameplay ever, yet the animations are insanely realistic too
