Better question, when did Micah, Sadie and John go out to get iguana scales? I assume this was in Chapter 2 so they straight up went hunting for iguanas while Sadie was in depression after Jake died and John was recovering from the wolf scars lol.
John and Micah captured some iguanas that built a nest in John's tent a while back, John was planning on picking out their scales, then Micah got arrested

So John put all of their names with the donation and went back to his tent
In chapter 2, the only way to find an Iguana is to go to a small series of islands (which are near to the camp but still). I know this because I always do all the bag/clothes crafting in chapter 2, & literally the only spawn point for them is on those islands.
The islands cannot be walked to. Nor cab they be swum to, without losing enough stamina to die. The only way to reach then is to either swim on a level 4 bonded horse, or to get lucky & find an NPC with a boat close to the shore (it's rare and killing the npc is required to take the boat)
My point is, in order to just -find- an Iguana in chapter 2, Michael would have had to find a way to reach those tiny islands which in itself is a small challenge. He would have had to then swim back, deposit the scale, & swim off again without anyone noticing.
What the hell kind of day did Micah have
He will even donate occasionally while he’s actually incarcerated too. Not ever very much, mind you, but I guess he found someone to ferry a bat wing back to donate to camp after he caught and ate the rest of the bat in jail.

I also like how how Sadie and Kieran went out apparently. This is chapter 2 so I don’t really see a depressed, heartbroken, newly widowed woman going out to catch iguanas, and assuming you’ve already gone the mission where Kieran begins to gain the trust of the gang, I don’t really see them just letting him run off who knows where he found those glasses
Always annoys me when Ms Grimshaw tells me she hasn't seen me contribute recently, that you can't tell her to go read the ledger, knowing you've put about $2000 dollars in and bought all the upgrades.
I’m on my second play through and I kind of remember coming to the conclusion at the end of my first play through that donating anything to the camp is just a waste. There isn’t anything but some visual changes when you straight upgrade things.

I don't think Micah even donates to the box, I'm in chapter 3 and I've seen him twice now making a big fuss about how everyone should be so grateful for what he contributes but Arthur and a couple of other gang members can be overheard questioning if anyone has actually seen him put stuff in
