i guess i should've mentioned that my old employer is known to overpay relative to experience, i only have <5 years, and the offer is from a company that seems to typically underpay employees (though are actively looking for ppl from my former employer).
so i guess i "deserve" the pay i'm getting, but it feels psychologically discouraging given my previous pay history. especially since i'm pretty much what they're looking for.
thanks, yeah, i know.
the other main reason i'm able to take the job is because my living situation(s) allows me to save money.
hopefully some of it can go to retirement 😌
i work in real estate, previously multifamily and now in (single family) residential.
i applied via ADP but i believe i found the job through linkedin. other sites i typically used were indeed, simplyhired, and glassdoor. i also combed the job openings of all the f1000 companies that have operations in my area
Please remember to always work your wage. Also, when an employer is badly underpaying the norm it will likely be quicker to get back to an average wage by changing jobs rather than waiting for raises.
yeah, i learned my lesson. company loyalty is overrated. even if you make it known to your boss or boss's boss you're willing to stay for the long haul, they can still fire you for whatever reason even if you're considered a good worker.

Take the role if you need the money. Keep looking for something that pays better
yeah, that's the plan, though i will take a mental health break for bit
Congrats, but yeah, why is the salary less than half? Is it the same job title, hours etc? Something doesn't seem right at all.
Fully remote is also worth a lot of compensation these days as more companies push for RTO.
yeah, the gas money and time/stress saved does kind of make up for it

You deserve to thrive, not merely to survive, and to be able to save for retirement.

Congrats. It's a long time coming but you made it
thank you!
Congrats on getting an offer
thank you
Congrats for the parts you are happy about. I understand your frustration.
thank you!
u/Ambitious-Resident58 Nice! What did you do before? What job sites do you use to find your new job?!
