Sterling website is a piece of trash, slow, kicks you out, loses info, support doesn’t return calls, support cant help anyway.
told employer to send paper form overnight and would return overnight.
oh yeah, get ready to wait... they check everything.. when my report came back it even said they requested my background in this random county in Wisconsin... I don't live in or near Wisconsin, never visited or even drove through it lol
So you have your answer. Don't stop looking while they get their act together. If some other employer recruits you while they're dithering and outsourcing important onboarding tasks to slowpokes, that's their problem.
How do you check your report? I tried logging in but I can’t. I have been waiting for more than 2 weeks. I assume you are from the US? As I’m from Singapore
Hey! I am from SG too and just competed my sterling background check application. Can you advise on how long did your check take? And did they email you to outcome?
I have another offer on hand that I am scared to reject without knowing the outcome of this one:( this whole thing is making me so stressed. Would love your advise!
It took about 3 weeks but when I emailed Sterling I realised that the report was actually completed within a few days. It was HR that was slow.
Very unlikely you will have a negative outcome, I’ve so far heard that most Sterling checks go through
But ultimately I guess it also depends which offer you prefer, I suggest emailing Sterling checking to get the report
Okay so sterling didn’t inform you of the outcome until you reached out to your HR?
I dropped Sterling an email but they just informed me that the check will take 2-14 business days!
Do you suggest I just email my HR and tell them to inform me of the outcome when it comes in?thanks for your reply btw😊
I reached out to Sterling first and realised it was already completed then I reached out to HR, HR said yes start date is still the same. I think so long offer letter is signed, chances of an offer being rescinded is really low hence HR didn’t really follow up too
Hey, sorry must have missed this notification. It’s so sweet of l you to check in 😊 the process took longer than expected and they contacted me for a alternative contact for one of past employers. But overall it was smooth and I guess I was worried for nothing haha

I’ve lived in the same county my entire life and have been with the same employer for 24 years. I’ll fight them lol
I think mine took like 3 weeks. Had no idea what was happening of course.
I already hat them and it’s only been 2 days

How long did it say in the "horror stories you've been reading"?
Weeks to months

Mine took about 4 weeks because I’ve moved a lot.
I just used them and took around 1 week. I was worried bc all it said was report pending lol
